Yummy fries!
Deb L.

Love local Painkillers for the live music mostly, which was fabulous at Saturday nights Country In The Pub Fest! Great beers on tap as always, but the fries were the lifesaver! Always grateful to Auston and the bartenders keeping the lines movin and groovin! :)

Pretty fun local watering hole for the Rocklin community. Seems like a popular spot. I dropped in on a Friday evening and plenty of people were on the patio. Some smoking cigars, others holding drinks, but all wearing smiles. The bartenders here were super friendly and took great care of us until the end. I lost count of all the beers on tap. Tried a new to me Italian lager called Peroni. It was crisp and light. Then went back to my usual Coors light and 805. Food took a little while to get out but that fave my friend and I more time to drink and conversate. The mutha Cluckin sliders were decent. Nothing spectacular but great bar food! Loved the fries here. Country music was played the entire time, good vibes.

Best place for live music and killer food. Expansive beer menu. Trivia nights, poker nights, beer tastings, events. Fun place to go.

I've arrived at PainKillers Pub and Grub to enjoy the early opening for part of the Labor Day weekend.

You just have to absolutely adore a neighborhood pub, where the friendly staff greet you by name, and there's always somebody that you know, and you're welcome to hang with. Also a pub that has a wide array of mainstream and craft beer on tap, a full service bar, AND a menu of your pub favorites, served in a "Cheers" atmosphere. If this sounds like your kind of pub, it all comes together at PainKillers Pub and Grub, located in Rocklin, CA. As you enter the pub, you'll notice the large bar, and the friendly staff will greet you with a smile. You'll love the sports bar atmosphere, thanks to the dynamic lighting and the many television monitors tuned to sports. On this early Saturday afternoon, there were a couple of college football games in progress, and the restaurant was tuned into the action. The restaurant/pub is divided into two dining rooms, with the bar separating the main dining room from the somewhat more intimate location that showcases a stage, where live music takes stage on most weekends. The beer menu is posted on the wall behind the beer taps, and features a mix of domestic, craft and local beers. The beer menu is ever changing, so the video display helps you keep up to date. Food menu is an "old school" printed menu. From the "Grub" section of the menu, I went with a "Pepperoni Pizza," and a pint of Busch Light beer. Such a perfect lunch! For starters, at $13.00, this pizza is the Bargain of Gold Country Dining, as was a "small" size pizza - about 13 inches in diameter - and not a "personal" size as I expecting. My host, Auston mentioned to me that he likes his diners to be satisfied. Oh yeah! The foundation of a delicious pizza begins with a quality crust, and my pizza didn't disappoint, as it was based on a freshly baked-to-perfection, golden brown crust. The crust was topped with flavorful pizza sauce, which added taste to the pizza, yet didn't overwhelm all of the goodness. Topping the sauce was a shredded blend of Italian cheese, fresh oregano, and thinly sliced pepperoni. Two cups of "House Ranch" dressing were provided on the side for great dipping. So... I dug in and dipped a slice into the dressing... oh my! Such an amazing pizza! The delicious crust was crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside, and held together perfectly. With my first bite, I could taste the crust, sauce, cheese, oregano and pepperoni working together, with the warm pizza contrasted to a dip of the cool ranch dressing. The pizza was well-balanced, and had the perfect meat/cheese-to-crust ratio, which is crucial to make a quality pizza. The $3.00 pint of Busch Light beer - a special price this Labor Day weekend - served as an appetizer and the second pint made for a delicious dessert. The pizza I enjoyed today at PainKillers Pub and Grub was simply delicious! Calling all pizza lovers in west Placer County... this is YOUR restaurant to enjoy delicious pizza! Great pizza, friendly service, "Cheers" sports bar atmosphere, comfortable patio... add it all up and it equals FIVE STAR dining in Rocklin!

Located in the middle of downtown Roseville, parking is not hard to find at all as there is plenty of street parking and a nearby garage. The decor inside is stunning. You can see industrial-size equipment for the beer fermentation process, and the dark wooden walls match the cellar theme perfectly. However, we were seated at a small table with bar stools that wasn't very comfortable. It was a warm day outside, so the AC was blasting inside and I got cold very fast. Shout out to my husband for walking back to the car to grab my jacket! We started off with drinks. I got the Thirst Trap mocktail, which was sweet and tart and reminded me of Nerds candy. However, I don't think it was worth the $14 price tag. My husband got the Vernon Street Lager, which was a very tasty beer. For an appetizer, we ordered the Pickled Veggie Jar. It had a great variety of brussel sprouts, onions, radishes, and more that were deliciously pickled. Unfortunately, it took over 40 minutes for our entrees to arrive, so we ended up eating half of this just waiting for our food. Carbonnade Flamande: My husband ordered this braised short rib stew served over mashed potatoes. The beef itself was very good, but the portion of meat was very small compared to the mountain of mashed potatoes. It tasted nice, but for $26, we expected a bit more meat. Moules Frites: I got the mussels cooked in broth, served with duck fat fries and crostinis. The mussels were plentiful and the broth was very flavorful. Overall, the food was decent but the fries were the absolute best part of everything we ordered and everything is on the pricey side. The service didn't really stand out either. There was no reassurance or update on why our food was taking so long. Plus, water was never served automatically, and when I finally asked for some, our server only brought one glass even though we were a party of two. This was not worth the $100 we spent on dinner and I don't think I would find myself back here.

We were seated in the patio in the shade, so it wasn't too insufferably hot on this very sunny, warm day. Jägerschnitzel is my go-to at German restaurants and the one at Kathrin's is one of the best I've had to date. My plate was generous and the jägerschnitzel was tender, the spätzle was too, and the mushroom gravy that topped the jägerschnitzel was just so good. I cleaned my plate. I also got one of their small pretzels to start the meal and loved how soft and chewy it was, and the mustard had a good punch of spice. I thought it was cool that their pretzels are sourced from a local Bavarian factory. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the dressing on the green salad that comes with the jägerschnitzel. I'm really not sure what it was and can't say I've had anything else that tastes like it before, but it was strong and I was good after just a few bites. However, that wasn't enough to ruin the meal for me with as good as that jägerschnitzel was. While I was only here because I was visiting family who live in the area and recommended this place, I'd be happy to return if my family wanted to come back on a future visit.

We found that they served the dinner menu all day and there was no lunch menu. We ended up ordering the Oktoberfest platter, which it was made up of five sausages, schnitzel, red cabbage, sauerkraut and french fries. 4 of the 5 sausages were extremely dry and over cooked. Schnitzel was dry and flavorless. It seemed as if they had heated everything up in a microwave. Overly hot and very dry. Happy hour started at 3PM and we arrived at 2:45. That would have given us a discount on food and beer. But we figured oh well, our bad for not realizing. We commented on it to the bartender / server, like "oh darn" and he didn't really react. It was not like we expected to get the happy hour prices, we were just commenting. Then, unfortunately, we overheard him talking to two men at the bar, saying "I waited until 3PM to ring up your beers because I wanted to give you happy hour price." Yikes! Why not us? (Only us and these two gents inside at the time. There was a handful of people at outside tables.) We are disappointed because we had enjoyed them before and they are the closest restaurant to us serving German food. The food and the service that day are not very motivating to return.

Bold flavors, expert preparation, pretty on the plate and generous portions. Bambie had the 1/2 chicken fried southern style. Crispy ouside, soft and moist inside. Side of mash potatoes, side of perfectly sauteed carrot slices. I had a cesar salad. Fresh, crisp, again a big portion. The dressing was a perfect blance of creamy, piquant and a tad peppery. The croutons were crisp and flavorful. Best Cesar salad that I've had in years. My main dish was the pork carnitas tacos. Topped with heaping mounds of shredded cabbage. Creamy sauce on the cabbage. A side of mild-ish chipotle salsa served on the side to pour on the carnitas. The tacos were so big that they were almost too unwieldly to hold. But I persevered and gobbled them like there is no tomorrow. Satisfying. A big hungry guy will be perfectly happy after polishing off the plate. Wine selection is small but has the usual good suspects in the reasonable price range. Mostly California wines. I live 2 miles from this place. Tonight was my first visit. Oh yeah I'll be a frequent return customer. Highly recommended.
