We finally made it into CJ's. I wanted to try their quesabirria tacos. There's a ton of indoor seating along with seats at the bar. We ended up ordering a bunch of food: * Quesabirria Tacos a mexi-cali version of quesabirria tacos. They didn't skimp on the meat and plenty of dipping sauce. Yum! * Wings - my son loves them. I think they even threw in an extra * Basket of Fries - A huge basket of fries...seasoned to perfection. * Garlic Knots - Ordered the garlic knots as advertised but received garlic twists?!? Even better in my opinion. Just wished I asked for marinara sauce. * Kids Chicken Tenders - My daughter loved them. They were served with friend fries. My kids played pool while waiting for our food. They also had basketball on the TVs. They have an arcade game and claw machine as well. Our favorite server, Lolo, was working. She is THE BEST!!!! Came for dinner with my young daughters. We've been wanting to check it out. The place reminded me of college. The bar is the main focus with pool tables, darts, and other games. The place was pretty loud. Eclectic interior for sure. The waitress seemed overwhelmed so she just told us to sit anywhere. Waited for a bit till she came back to us. She was very nice and helpful but she was the only waitress on a Friday night. Started with cheese sticks which were very good. Seemed like they were out of a bag. Then came the pizza and it was meh. Nothing to write home about. We also got paper plates wish was odd because the table next to us has regular dinnerware. This review is solely based on service. When we walked in at around 5:45 on a recent Thursday night, the gal behind the bar was "too busy" chatting with a male patron. When she finally acknowledged us, she told us to sit anywhere we want. The dining area was nearly empty and there were probably 3-4 guys at the bar. We were expecting to get a menu within minutes. Nope. The "bargirl" was talking to another guy so we thought she was taking his order and waited patiently. But after 20 minutes, no menu, no water, nothing. We walked out. Wow! Not only was the service terrible, but also a couple of tables from previous customers had not been cleared. We've never been treated so rudely and dismissively right from the beginning. read more

We bought a few large pizzas. They were always great but a little pricey. This time the pizza was horrible. Three different kinds and they all sucked. Something has changed. Less toppings, less cheese and less sauce. The flavor was off. I'm not sure why they changed them but there were Cesar's quality. The combo had one to two pieces of each topping on each slice. We had to recut the pizza when we got home too. All four of us noticed and decided it would be best to get our pizza elsewhere from now on. I'm not sure why they changed them. read more

If I could give zero stars I would!! I've never experienced anything like what happened at CJ's. My group simply asked if they could turn on the audio for the World Series, and the owner, Stephanie, completely lost her temper!! She started yelling and cussing at us and ultimately told us to leave over a simple request instead of listening to what the all customers wanted. What makes it worse is that this seems to be her usual behavior. I've watched Stephanie yell and talk badly to the regular customers people who spend thousands a month there and treat them with the same disrespect we experienced. Completely unprofessional. The customer service is awful, the food is genuinely horrible, and the drink pours are terrible. On top of that, everything is extremely overpriced for what you actually get. Nothing about the experience reflects the standards a restaurant should have. And honestly, this review won't matter nothing will change. Stephanie has personally shown me bad Yelp reviews from other customers who had the same horrible experiences with her and that place, and she just laughs at them instead of fixing the problem like a professional owner would do. read more

I have to hand it to my man Tyler the guy is fast very friendly and works incredibly hard. I went with the boneless chicken wings which were absolutely delicious. The place was a little busy because they offer so many different food items here but the one thing you'll notice right away is it goes from being a really nice restaurant with outdoor seating to a complete sports bar we can sit down and watch any game you choose. My food was perfect, I could've eaten 21 of those wings if they let me but obviously the good news is the food was priced really well like I said, I got a head out to my man Tyler is the guy you want to see. I had nothing but good things to say about this place and started coming here regularly until I met the owner, I believe. Man, did she go out of her way to be as unfriendly as possible. It was just a little before 11pm and there were only 2 other customers and I had told her how much I loved the place and was met with utter disdain. Pretty shocking to say the least. Everyone that works there is so nice and accommodating but this lady made me feel so unwelcome. Since I am writing this review, it's doubtful I will ever go back but as the owner, who is sure to read this, please work on your people skills. I spent plenty of money at your bar and tipped very well. Your staff is perfect and I cannot appreciate them more. I am very disappointed that I do not feel comfortable coming back. read more

Went here to check out my buddy's place but he wasn't in. It's a pretty big location with 2 dinning areas. The bar is in the middle. It's very clean and nice looking. We came in early but the bartender let us in. There was another customer inside to. We got some drinks and ordered the chicken bacon delight pizza. It was pretty good. I was surprised. My friend got the Caesar salad and it was a nice size and good as well. They didn't have any Remy or Cognac at all. I got some Scotch instead. I really liked the place. Horrible. Our group ordered 3 pizzas and they came out 30 minutes apart. We ordered a caprese salad that was never brought out and they tried to charge us for a cheese burger on our bill that we didn't order. When I complained to the lady behind the bar she said they were busy and I just needed to wait. I asked for my money back on the third pizza that had not been delivered after an hour and a half and she said it had already been cooked and coming out right now. CJ's Pizza Bar and Grill is locally owned and operated, and is NOT a chain restaurant, and is a true reflection of the core values embraced by western Placer County residents. Everyone is welcome and treated like family, but if you want to wear your "gang colors" don't bother to come inside, as you will find this is not "your" kind of restaurant, and does not cater to your habits. There is even a place at the bar for man's best friend! The restaurant definitely hosts a "sports bar" atmosphere, as there are countless television monitors tuned to sporting events, or the local news. When major sports events are broadcast, the monitors are tuned to every game, so when you enjoy a great meal at CJ's, you won't miss any of the action. The dining room is large, comfortable and very friendly. Breakfast is offered weekends, and the menu lists all of your breakfast favorites. The entire menu grabbed my interest, especially the leading item, "Steak and Eggs," but I ended up taking a slightly more conservative path, as today was my first day enjoying breakfast at this fine restaurant. From the "CJ's Signature Breakfasts" section of the weekend breakfast menu, I went with "CJ's Special," as since today was my first day to enjoy breakfast at CJ's, the "special" seemed like a great place to begin. The menu describes this delicious breakfast as, "Two eggs, any style with a side of ham, bacon or sausage, country potatoes or hash browns, and your choice of toast (white, wheat, sourdough, rye, or English muffin.) So many choices... so many difficult decisions! I chose my eggs to be fried sunnyside up, hash browns, a side of ham, and an option cup of gravy, from the "Breakfast Sides" of the menu. How could anybody resist adding a cup of gravy to such a fine breakfast? The side of ham turned out to be a thick, half slice, tender, juicy and perfectly fried. When I say tender, I mean "fork tender" as the knife was simply "window dressing" as the slice of ham was easily cut to size using my fork. It was simply delicious! Hash browns can be tricky to create perfectly, as there is a very fine line between being "mushy" or "dry," but the chef knows his trade, as the hash brown potatoes were fried to perfection, crispy, slightly crunchy golden brown on the outside, and white, moist and tender inside, just the way superior hash browns are supposed to be. My sunnyside eggs arrived perfectly as ordered - sunnyside up - which, albeit is the easiest way to prepare a fried egg. Like the hash browns, the eggs were perfect. How can you rave about toast? In the case of CJ's, it's easy to rave, as my two slices of sourdough toast were perfectly toasted and covered with melted butter, with added flavor, along with soft texture inside, which contrasted perfectly with the toasted texture on the outside. Yes, I can rave about the toast! And then there was the optional side of gravy... Yes, it was an extra $2.50, but if you even "like" breakfast gravy, you simply MUST order a side of CJ's gravy! It was thick, sausage gravy, seasoned perfectly, cooked to perfection, and the taste was simply phenomenal! This was some of the best breakfast gravy that I have enjoyed in my many years of dining in western Placer County, and you simply can't pass up a side of gravy at CJ's Pizza Bar and Grill, for your weekend breakfast enjoyment! Friends, acquaintances and strangers have commented on the delicious breakfast that CJ's serves, and I agree, as the breakfast I enjoyed today was simply delicious! The quality was outstanding, the portion size was up to par, and the "breakfast experience" was, shall we say...? ... priceless. We're talking FIVE STARS!!!! read more

Absolutely bizarre experience here. The employees were clearly wasted and stumbling around on the patio while customers were trying to enjoy their meals and drinks. Two different employees came out for a cigarette and were blowing smoke all over people just trying to eat. One male and one female and both clearly intoxicated. (Slurring words and stumbling). Don't come hungry, you'll starve before a server waits on you. And, it'll be about 60 mins before your food shows up. Order a drink early because you won't get another one any time soon. They remodeled so the music/TV volume is extra loud to compensate for the open space, don't plan on talking to your friends while you wait for food or drinks cuz you won't be able to hear people sitting at your own table. This used to be a great place. They have gone downhill a lot. They definitely need more wait staff. 30+ minutes waiting time for a beer is ridiculous, especially if you have to eat your food without a drink. It's a bummer! read more

My lady and I were in the Rocklin area today and were looking for something to eat. We drove by CJ's Pizza Bar & Grill and noticed that the lights were on!! We parked, confirmed that the restaurant was open and walked in. The atmosphere inside was pleasant and casual but .... just before we were seated, I notice they also had a nice patio area outside. The temperatures were mild, so we opted for alfresco. Then, we were quickly shown to our large patio table, given menus and our drink orders taken. Menu options included appetizers, salads, specialty sandwiches, calzones and, of course, pizza. Note: they offer a full bar. I ordered the CJ's club with french fries. It consisted of turkey, bacon, provolone cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise .... all served on white toast. The sandwich was delicious, but the fries were slightly under done in my opinion. My partner tried the avocado BLT with a side salad. The sandwich was served on sourdough ......... and she loved it.
