House divided is my favorite bar in the Sacramento area. If I could take someone I loved to only one place for cocktails locally, it would be this one. The drinks don't miss, the service is phenomenal, and the ambiance is unlike any other. Many places try to capture the feeling of a speakeasy, but from going down a creepy alley, sharing a secret passwords, and being transported to a dimly-lit, gorgeous room, few if any manage to do it the way House Divided does.

This is true speak easy type of a cocktail establishment! There's no sign outside whatsoever. The only thing that gave away was the not so easy speaking voices from inside through a window. You got to knock on the door and tell a password which is available from their Instagram account. Absolutely cool! The cocktails were amazing. We had 4 different kinds and all of these were great. Tasty, balanced and with a kick! Pure joy. The service was prompt and polite. They are professionals that know what they are doing. The ambience is fully speak easy like. Notice that there are not many seats available, the place is small. Wear comfortable shoes to stand. Nobody was drunk, mostly couples having cocktails after dinner, so not a dive bar. Most people were dressed nicely. Just adults having a good time and minding their own conversations. I didn't notice any food at all. Didn't ask either. It seemed nobody was there for any snack.

house divided is beautifully decorated and their bartenders really care about their handcrafted cocktails. i kid you not, this place looks like an Arctic Monkeys song. It has a dark and mysterious ambiance, perfect for a date night. i love going to this hole in the wall and it'll truly always have a special place in my heart (and in my diary- of course i wrote all about my first experience in this charming little cocktail lounge).

    Lots of nice glasses here

To those of you searching for one of those true hole-in-the-wall speakeasy dive bars in the greater Sacramento area, do yourself a favor and definitely give "House Divided" a try. I have a real passion for these types of places; everything from the retro look with distressed furniture to the exclusive and rare varieties of special whiskies, bourbons, and scotch liquors. Located in the heart of Old Roseville and at the corner of Lincoln St. and Washington Blvd., this place has been operating since mid-2023 while neighboring "FourScore Coffeehouse". To get here takes a little bit of investigated work in the sense that the address is not where you think it is. In fact, from Lincoln St., this place looks like an empty building with no customers. However, the entry point to House Divided is down an alley. And this alley boasts a green door with no outside security. This is where you "knock" on the door and a staff member asks you for the password. Since I had mentioned investigated work, this means you go to their Facebook or Instagram page where the password is given for that select night. I also wanted to add that this place is closed on Sunday & Monday; however, they are open for business Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00-11:00pm. As for the interior layout of this place, it is quite small to a point where they only allow so many people in at a time. And there are no windows here as the brick building shields you from any lights or outside elements from getting inside. Everything about this place looks like you've stepped back in time to the Prohibition-era with vintage photos, a deep oak bar area, and some classic aged liquors that go as far back as the early-1900's. You won't find your typical modern liquors here as the staff here has done the painstaking task of providing such an amazing and eclectic variety. I actually came here with my lady on my birthday which was the evening of Saturday 11/30/2024 at around 8:30pm. It was a packed house and every single seat was taken. Since I wanted to try a real-deal bourbon drink, I went with their "Proper Old Fashioned". This cocktail was made with aged bourbon/rye complete with Angostura bitters simple cherry & orange syrup. I will say that their specialty cocktail & old fashioned menu is quite eclectic with the perfect amount of options to cater to everyone taste bud. My drink hit the spot as this rivals some of the top speakeasy bars found in Chicago and New York City. All in all, "House Divided" is an excellent and classic speakeasy bar that I highly recommend. It does get loud; especially during Friday/Saturday nights and finding a seat may not be a guarantee. But the bartenders/hostesses and everyone that works here do an amazing job in serving the customers in a quick and timely manner. With that said and done, I am giving House Divided a perfect and unanimous five-star rating. Cheers!

I love this place! I came here with a friend looking to catch up and this speakeasy is such a hidden gem! I came over here the night before thanksgivings. I got 2 drinks, the pomegranate martini and lavender lemon drop. I'm more inclined to the sweeter and sour drinks and I love these. The bar is bustling and loud, lots of like animals on their walls. I felt like I'm in a cabin with my pals and it's a snowy day in and we're getting drunk. Loved it and will come back!

It's a super cute hidden bar in the midtown Roseville alley. The interior is dark and can be loud depending on the group in there upon arrival. The music is also a little bit louder than I would prefer ( but I was here on a Friday evening). It is def. not an ideal for place for conversations. They do not serve food. The bar service was also considerably slow for about 15 ppl in attendance while I was here.

Great staff, cool vibe, great drinks. Follow their insta for the password of the day. Really liked this addition to the old town Roseville lineup.

Amazing cocktails and such a fun and warm ambiance. The staff were so friendly and provided exceptional service. You can get the password for entry from their Instagram page and the establishment is 21 or older only for entry only, so bring your ID as they scan them at the door. Will definitely be back in the future!

    Very sneaky.

Very fun place. I've been to better speakeasy's but this was fun. Drinks were very well done with a lot of thought and unique flavors. Service was great but I wish they were more on theme. You're paying a premium for the experience, get in character. Definitely will be back, once i find the others in the area.

Love this place!! The atmosphere is cozy with cool decor. Drinks are delicious, I ordered the lavender lemon drop and whiskey sour - both were fantastic. Staff was friendly. After coming for the first time, I was back in less than a week. Can't wait to bring my sister here. Such an awesome find in the Roseville area!

Great little hidden gem for a fun cocktail spot. It's small but cozy and the atmosphere was fun!

This is an awesome concept and they did a great job with the inside decor. I do love emerald green and gold. The drinks were delicious. The biggest drawback is that there is nowhere to sit. It is a tight space and people were either bumping into me or I had to stay glued to the bar.

Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Food: n/a Drinks: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Gabbie was the primary bartender working tonight, and she did a fantastic job. Her and the doorman (who is also a bartender) were both very friendly and informative about the bar's offerings. I enjoyed the small, intimate setting, and we can't wait to come back.

The Mary Pickford cocktail. Tastes as good as it looks Yum

Drinks: The pomegranate martini, Prosecco rosé, and lemonade were all a hit with the family. Appetizer: The arugula salad was another favorite, and my wife and daughter were able to share it comfortably. One small issue our son-in-law's smoked whiskey wasn't delivered with everyone else's drinks, but my wife mentioned it to the waiter, and he quickly followed up and brought it out. Entrées: We ordered the salmon, chicken, pizza, chicken piccata, and seafood linguine -- every dish was prepared with care and seasoned to perfection (5/5). Decor: Plenty of photo opportunities with a cute, welcoming vibe. Overall: Great atmosphere and an amazing experience overall. Ozzy was fantastic, and we really appreciated the complimentary sorbet dessert at the end. Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mothers! If we're ever back in town, we'd definitely return.

Service was great too, everything just flowed really well. We're all vegetarian, so I was actually really happy with how many veg options they had (a lot of Italian places around here don't). For apps, we got the truffle bruschetta and the burrata. Only thing is, I thought the burrata would come as a full ball, but it was on toast pieces but pretty similar to the bruschetta. Looking back, we probably would've just ordered one. For mains, we kind of went all in on truffle...truffle risotto, truffle ravioli, plus a margherita pizza and fries. And honestly, some of the best truffle we've had in the Sacramento area. Everything was really flavorful and just done right, no complaints at all. For dessert, we got the Mia Dream and the San Sebastián cheesecake. The Mia Dream was actually a dream. The cheesecake was good too, but honestly we could've passed on it. I also really appreciated having so many good vegetarian options to pick from. It just made the whole experience better. Overall, everything from the food to the service was excellent. Definitely a 10/10 and I'd go back again.

We arrived with a 7:15 reservation, and our table wasn't ready for about 15 minutes. Since we needed to leave by 8:40 we asked before being seated whether there would be enough time to dine, and we were assured there would be. Once seated, we were again told timing would be fine as long as we ordered immediately, which we did. However, there was apparently a shortage of clean silverware available for about 20 minutes, and we didn't receive water until roughly 25 minutes after sitting down. We were also never served bread. We ordered beer and wine at the same time as our food order, shortly after being seated, but by 8:30 we still had not received drinks or any food. Concerned about making it home on time, we asked for the bill and our meals to be packed to go, but the food never arrived. The waiter eventually came to our table and ripped up the receipt. We ultimately left at 8:40 without ever receiving dinner or the drinks we ordered at the beginning of the meal. Many nearby tables appeared to be having similar experiences, and staff were managing multiple frustrated guests, along with tables that had not been served food or drinks, or orders that came out incorrectly. Again, the issue did not seem to be the waitstaff themselves, but the overall extreme delay in getting any drinks and food, which should not take over an hour. It seems they were underprepared and understaffed. I would not recommend for dinner or for any special occasions.
