Before getting into the details, I want to clarify that this experience was not a reflection of the waitstaff, who were clearly working hard and constantly in motion throughout the evening. We arrived with a 7:15 reservation, and our table wasn't ready for about 15 minutes. Since we needed to leave by 8:40 we asked before being seated whether there would be enough time to dine, and we were assured there would be. Once seated, we were again told timing would be fine as long as we ordered immediately, which we did. However, there was apparently a shortage of clean silverware available for about 20 minutes, and we didn't receive water until roughly 25 minutes after sitting down. We were also never served bread. We ordered beer and wine at the same time as our food order, shortly after being seated, but by 8:30 we still had not received drinks or any food. Concerned about making it home on time, we asked for the bill and our meals to be packed to go, but the food never arrived. The waiter eventually came to our table and ripped up the receipt. We ultimately left at 8:40 without ever receiving dinner or the drinks we ordered at the beginning of the meal. Many nearby tables appeared to be having similar experiences, and staff were managing multiple frustrated guests, along with tables that had not been served food or drinks, or orders that came out incorrectly. Again, the issue did not seem to be the waitstaff themselves, but the overall extreme delay in getting any drinks and food, which should not take over an hour. It seems they were underprepared and understaffed. I would not recommend for dinner or for any special occasions. read more

I have taken multiple people here and every single one of them has loved it! The clever speakeasy, the food, the ambiance and the staff are all wonderful. They are known for their amazing craft drinks. It's smart to look up a few of those online first if you can. We've had everything from a Bunsen burner-type concoction to a fruit, herb & flower-filled canteen, to a smoke-releasing Ammo box, to a delicious punch bowl that the entire table shared. The lighter fare in the bar is perfect, you can also get full dinners upstairs at the top of the long, steep staircase. Had a 730 pm reservation last night! Got there and table not quite ready so went to bar. We sat down as the bartender was standing there. My friend said out loud "can't wait for a dirty martini". The bartender never greeted us, walked away and never returned. Ridiculous. The mgr approached us a few mins later and said that the table was ready. We sat and our server got us the martinis. He took app order and food order. Everything started off okay. However, after the food order we didn't see him again until after our dinner was delivered. I had to call him over to ask for wine. He never checked back on us. The bar was getting busy and there was only 1 bartender (the guy who didn't talk to us) and our server was back there helping make drinks and ignoring our table. When he brought wine it was in short cocktail glasses not wine glasses. He said they ran out. No big deal except for the fact that after that we never saw him again until when we were signing our bill. He came by and said thanks ladies or something like that and scurried away. Horrible service. The girl that brought us all of our food, the boxes, and her check, got an extra tip because she basically did everything, and was great! Also, there is no more candy shop which is disappointing. And when they give you the confirmation for dinner, they still tell you to go to the candy shop and give a password. But I think that if it's no longer there, they don't need to be including that and giving false information. The food was good so kudos to the chef. Everything else leaves much to desire. Daniello's is one of my favorite happy hour spots. It's from 4pm to 6pm. I love the ambience of this place. Their bartenders are very friendly and make excellent, strong libations. My favorite cocktail is their Imagination. You get a science experience, show, and a drink. The Imagination is the smoothest old-fashioned I ever drank. I have not had the opportunity to eat here besides nibbling on some fries or some complementary bread they gave us to sober us up, lol. However, my friend did tell me their happy hour burger for only $13.50 was really delicious and a steal for that price. Definitely a fun place to grab a drink. read more

What a unique concept! To get inside you have to go through a candy store with a "magic key." And what you open the door to will make your jaw drop. Tastefully decorated restaurants with white table cloths, romantic ambiance. What I loved: -Focaccia bread, it was wonderful and buttery. -Strawberry mocktail (they have nonalcoholic drinks here!) was delicious. -Truffle risotto was good; presentation was pretty with micro greens. I was really excited to try this new place for us. The entrance through the candy store was fun. You give them the password then get a key to go in. The restaurant is a bit more moody and dark inside. It had plenty of people at the bar and there is an upstairs seating area where we had dinner. Our waitress was very nice and timely. We had some cocktails that were not to our liking and politely asked to just have a glass of wine instead. That was a better option. Next the shrimp appetizer was burnt and lacking taste. I really really really wanted to love this place. I had been wanting to go FOREVER! I love the concept. Cute idea, with a darling little candy store, with a big door that opens, with a silly big key after you give the secret password. It opens to a beautiful bar with a cozy relaxing high-end vibe. It was crowded and no one seemed to know what was happening. We were told it would be 1 1/2 hour wait (we arrived without reservation as you can ONLY make them for dinner.) We were fine with that as we are super flexible. Headed to the bar across the street to wait. We sit down at the bar and literally 3 minutes later they call us to say they can accommodate our party of 8. Yay! Nope...we arrive back to the bar and we have to sit apart. Five at the bar and three across the restaurant. Whatever...we are flexible. The inside bar does have a great ambiance and has a secret hidden vibe to it BUT they seemed sooooo unorganized and irritated that they were working. Service was basically non-existent for the three in our party that sat apart from the five. We had to order for our group and make sure it was delivered to them. The food bar was ok-ish. Very expensive for what you got. The cocktails were good. Now here's the crazy part...we left cash for part of our bill...which it appears the server thought that was the tip?! and then charged us the full amount on the credit card (party of 8 w/drinks and apps.) We LOVED it! We've been looking for great prime rib and have exhausted pretty much the whole area. Cattlemens was our fallback but they clearly lost the ability to care. Nothing worse than overcooked beef. We had to get carry out because my health was recovering. We always want pink beef. I like the candy store idea and it was fun. When the door opens it was pretty spectacular! Theresa was our server who was prompt seating us and was very pleasant to talk to. I had the gin happy hour drink while my husband had beer. I loved my foamy drink with a flower so much I had 2 lol. We had the shrimp appetizer but I can't eat very much since being sick so I only had one. My husband liked it so much that he ate the whole thing and the bread basket. Previously our best ever bread was in Islamarada years ago but husband said this was better. First time here, and we came to celebrate a special occasion with my wife. Such a cool way to enter the dining area. The woman with the glasses was fantastic--very attentive and full of great recommendations. The food was spot on, from the steak to all the sides (we went a little overboard). The drinks were excellent as well, with the special Old Fashioned being the standout. The only slight disappointment was the cannoli, which lacked the crunch I'm used to. We had the most delightful time celebrating a very big birthday last night. It was a good thing we had reservations because they were packed. They give you the secret passcode when you confirm your spot. We entered through the magic door and were off on our grand adventure. We opted to stay in the lounge area and enjoy dinner because there is a rather steep flight of stairs that would have been difficult for my husband to maneuver. The decor in the lounge along with the cocktail menu is just intoxicating. I would love to go back when there are not so many people (noise). Patti took excellent care of us and was charming and gracious. She generously offered us some bubbles while we waited for our cocktails. We shared the prawn sundae which was perfectly seasoned. Beyond impressed with this establishment!! Went for daniellos for the first time on a Thursday evening to try out the prime rib special, what a deal $49! Loved the entrance, make sure you know the password to get in--- we started off with a Caesar salad & potato leek soup (it's one or the other) followed by the main course Prime rib, mashed potatoes arugula salad and bread, a glass of white or red wine is included in your meal as well. Prime rib was great I prefer mine medium well it was soft as butter, delicious with the horseradish and au jus, the mashed potatoes were creamy and had just the right amount of seasoning. We were served a red wine which was really nice and smooth. There was also a desert included in the meal I chose a salted caramel gelato which literally melted in your mouth. Lack luster barely adequate service, but good food. Four of us visited on a recent Friday evening. Two of us arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and we were kindly seated upstairs where we ordered an Old Fashioned and a Chardonnay along with an appetizer. Our waitress seemed ok at first although long gaps of time in between visits to our table. The appetizer showed up first before we received our drink order. We sampled the appetizer but really wanted our drinks to have along with it, so we set the food aside and waited 10 minutes before the drinks showed up. Our waitress didn't check in and just put the drinks down a left. This was a sign of things to come. Our friends showed up, and after another 10 minutes our waitress came by and took their drink order. My friend ordered the same Old Fashioned I had which was the house special and I ordered another. When they showed up 15 minutes later, they were obviously different. The whiskey was a lighter color and there was no cherry garnish in either. For the price of the drinks at this place, you would expect something decent, but it was not. The waitress by this time seemed cavalier and disengaged from providing real service. She finally came back to take our food order, and while doing so, tried to talk my wife out of having her steak cooked medium. Her comment was that we only cook medium-rare here, but she's going do us a huge favor and ask for medium from the kitchen. Really. Well when the food arrived, in a decent time, it was delivered by someone else and my pork chop was room temperature cold. The bread she promised to bring was still not at the table, and all our water glasses were empty. However, my wife's steak was indeed cooked medium and everyone thought their food was delicious. My wife ordered another glass of wine that was delivered in an adequate time. No one ever asked us if our food was satisfactory, so I suffered though the cold pork chop not wanting to just watch every else eat while waiting. We had to flag the waitress down for more water, which she begrudgingly brought. She was not at all concerned nor did she act like she wanted to be there. I could go on with more gory details, but suffice it to say, the terrible and unpleasant service really put a drag on an otherwise decent dinning experience. This establishment is not a cheap night out, and we would like to go back to enjoy the food, but not sure we can bring ourselves to do that given the poor experience. There are just too many other good options locally and many for a much more reasonable price point. read more

ONE STAR for ambiance - The one star is solely because of the disappointment regarding the fact that they are no longer a hidden speakeasy. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a fun date night and I was VERY disappointed by the fact that the candy store that was originally there now looks like a weird used couch store. The door into the restaurant is gone and now it's just two hanging curtains. When I looked at reviews before we went there was no mention of the candy store being gone. Word to the wise always look at reviews by date not by score (that's on me). I definitely could have found a nice restaurant closer to me, the only reason i made the 45 min drive was for the fun aspect, which is now gone. 5 STARS for service - Charles, our waiter was very apologetic about the mix-up with the experience I thought I was going to get. Besides his great handling of my disappointment he was super attentive during the meal and comped our cocktails because it took over 30 min to get my drink and it was room temp. Not sure if the dreamsicle is supposed to be room temp but i wasn't a fan. He also went above and beyond in figuring out how to handle a few allergies my boyfriend has. 5 STARS for the food - Except for the aforementioned cocktail that was not great, all the other food was PHENOMENAL! Daniello, a speakeasy I had on my to-do list for a while but was never in the area until now. Definitely unique as it is hidden inside the candy shop. The password part didn't make sense any longer as there was none given during reservations. The clerk handed us the key to unlock the door but it wasn't locked to begin with. That part was funny. Once you step in the blue door you are transformed into a intricate beautiful classy atmosphere red leatherlike seatings and a full bar with crafty drinks. Our server Charles was informative and friendly. Definitely knows what he is doing. He didn't try to push drinks or more dishes on us. The prime rib dinner comes with wine, and 3 courses. Everything was nicely presented and good portion. The edible plant on our dessert was very unique. There were a bit much of Arugula on all our dishes. The Stuffie appetizer we ordered were meatless although it said there was sausages in it. Still it tasted good. The red wine was a house wine and it was just ok. Overall, the restaurant and bar is beautiful and has its unique touch. Server Charles was great and the food is a good value for the money. It was definitely a fun and classy experience. The whole experience is really fun, and the atmosphere is entertaining. We really enjoyed our meal and our drinks for an overall good time. They were very busy with a private party upstairs and a full bar and lounge. They were out of the gin fizz or didn't have the right equipment to make it, so I went with my second choice of drink instead. The whole menu is a la carte, so entrees do not include sides. With that in mind, the price of the meal can add up quickly. We were celebrating a birthday, so we expected the bill to be on the high side. It is definitely something to be aware of. There was a bit of a long wait for our food and the appetizers and entrees all came out at once. That made the table quite crowded and the timing of eating everything a little weird. Overcharged my credit card. Came here on a Friday evening, went through the candy store entrance and gave them the secret code. Was able to sit at the middle of the bar. There were three of us. We ordered three drinks: Snozzberries taste like snozzberry Fizzy lifting bubble drink Nigori Sake with matcha The drinks were super fancy, with good presentation. The matcha drink was super tiny for the price they charged. Closed out our tab of roughly $53, gave a $6 tip on my credit card and went home. When I saw my credit card bill the following week, I saw that they charged me over $100 for the three drinks. When I signed the receipt the total including tip came out to $60. I did make the mistake of not taking the customer copy of the receipt. Pretty shady of them to overcharge my card. I tried calling them, but no one answered the phone. I also left a message on their website, but no one responded. I disputed it with my credit card company but didn't get the credit back. I would ensure you get charged the proper amount and take pictures of your receipt if you ever come here. I will not be coming back. *Update one month later* Daniello's response to my dispute was "look at the receipt" and the picture of the receipt was a black screen. For some reason, Chase, accepted that, but I re-opened the dispute and they gave me credit for the overage. read more
