We were in need of a good meal and happened upon the Red Rabbit while we were visiting for a soccer tournament. Greta, our server, was so personable and eager to share her recommendations- and we're glad she did! We started with the oysters, calamari, and burrata- all amazing. This rating is in regard to a recent special limited-time offering. The standard menu and food quality is 4.5/5 and I will always return for their craft cocktails! For December this year, the establishment has a special pasta menu exploring the history of pasta in Rome, and this included the return of carbonara. As someone who remembers the original menu from years ago, this excited me greatly! The carbonara from back in the day was a lovely and unctuous experience I was more than ready to revisit. However, this new iteration is what I can only accurately describe as a "straight to dvd" sequel of its former self. From the thick noodles, thin sauce, and overall saltiness, it was a letdown with every bite. The Malbec oysters from our appetizer had thankfully been meaty and tasteful enough to help fill our stomachs. There are very few restaurants who will truly understand and care for people suffering with Gluten intolerance. It's not a pleasant experience when you order pasta and it turns out to be something else. We were starving and one of our dear friend highly recommended Red Rabbit. It's super clean and tidy. I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday and was surprised at how busy it was for a weekday night. Luckily I made reservations so we got right in, but parking was a bit difficult so be prepared for that. Inside the ambiance is dark, intimate but quite loud. We were hoping we could have had a table in a more private space but there really wasn't a private space within this restaurant - so keep that in mind if you're looking for something more intimate. We decided to get an appetizer but not from the appetizer list. We did a pizza and split it - the pizzas are amazing and I could definitely eat a whole one myself!! For my main course, I chose to get the Italian Chopped salad with grilled vegetables as a side. Wowza!! Amazing flavors and big portions!! I rarely ever leave a restaurant with a leftover box but this time I did. My husband had to do the same and he got the Chcken Parmesan which was highly recommended by the employees. Went for my birthday dinner and the food was so good. We shared the artichoke dip with focaccia and it was so soft the best focaccia I've ever had. The chicken alfredo was also good but nothing out of the ordinary. One thing I would say is the service was slow, waitress was very nice but yeah a little slow. We sat on the patio and the lighting and atmosphere was great. Update: 3 of us who ate pasta got extreme stomach pains afterwards I won't go into detail. SECOND UPDATE: Alright, I'm back again. Unfortunately, they didn't take reservations, so we drove down and got our place on the seating list. They were quite busy as it was a Saturday night. We were told that it would be almost an hour and we wouldn't all be able to sit together (there were 7 in our party). However, we ended up getting to sit a little earlier than promised and were all seated at the same table. We spent the time waiting for our table at the beautiful bar (see picture). Once we were seated, the Roasted Carrots (see picture) were highly recommended by friends, so we tried them and were not disappointed. For our meals, we ordered a number of different options and shared tastes of each other's dishes so we all got to sample a variety of menu items. There are pictures for each of these mentioned dishes below and believe me, each and every one of them was delicious. The dishes we ordered were: Shrimp Garganelli, Mostacciolli, Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan and Butternut Squash Ravioli. Believe me, you won't go wrong with any of these dishes. If you follow my posts, you know that the favorite part of my dining experience is the desserts. I don't like a lot, but love at least a few bites to top off a meal. With so many people at our table, it was a great opportunity to order several desserts to share...and that is exactly what we did. We ordered the Beignets (see picture) which were delicious on their own, but even better with the raspberry dipping sauce. The highlight though was the Sticky Toffee Cake (see picture). It was recommended to our son's girlfriend by another patron who was also waiting to be seated...and it was absolutely fantastic! We ordered it with truffel salt per her recommendation and the salted caramel and candied orange zest was a great complement. Everything was delicious!!! We will definitely be back! The Garlic Bread Cheese Curds were cheesy and gooey. The chicken parm was moist and tasty. The lasagna cheesy with the right amount of sauce. Haven't been here in years and the food, atmosphere, and service are all still top notch. Stopped in for happy hour and their $8 pizza special. Around 3pm it's not too busy so I just rolled up to the bar on my way to MSP to catch a flight. They've got a great HH menu and I'll be back for sure. Their pizza is a sort of Neapolitan/pub hybrid. Very thin, cracker crust that holds up to the quality sauce and cheese. The dough is flavorful but probably has some sugar in since it's super crisp and lacks the chew of a cold proofed sourdough like Rosalia. Nice acidity to the sauce and not too much of it. We have been enjoying the little pepperonis from other places and the one from Red rabbit was also pretty good. Out of the three pizzas, my fav was the PBJ - pineapple bacon and jalapeño. Had a great brunch today where I had the avocado toast. The soft scrambled eggs were large and fluffy. It was a lot of food with the included side salad. P2 had both the spaghetti and meatballs and the monkey bread (he thought they went together...no comment). Both were amazing alone! Only slight annoyance is the 5% health add on and the touchpads for the tip started at 25%. The presumption that it should be the minimum tip always slightly annoys me. read more

Red Rabbit rocks! I always look forward to coming here. Its location on Washington means it has some tough North Loop competition, but in my opinion belongs on anyone's Minneapolis to-eat list. It's a versatile space with a lively bar area, more relaxed dining room, and one of the Loop's best patios that I often find myself having lunch with coworkers on during the summer. Service hits the mark too, hitting the right balance of attentiveness. After coming enough times, the hosts will start to take remember you! Food, of course, is why you're here. The menu's wide ranging, encompassing no-frills Italian as well as some unique items. I'd recommend to focus in on the pasta and seafood offerings which shine. For lunch they also offer a pick-2 option which lets you choose half a salad and half a sandwich. My favorite dish is the beet spaghetti. It's unlike any pasta I've had before, somehow light but filling at the same time. The flavor profile isn't overly powerful nor too beet-y, with orange and poppy coming through too. Subtle but effective. I almost always add grilled chicken, which pairs great! The dish can also be made vegan with dairy-free ricotta, which is a nice level of inclusivity rare at many Italian places. Also, big photogenic points for this one! Honorable mentions include the salmon sandwich which offers a really nicely cooked cut of salmon (not a patty). Very refreshing and flavorful. The oysters are also excellent, especially the wood-grilled ones! Unless your heart is set on raw, I'd give these a shot. The Caprese bowl is also always a hit when someone orders it (never me, because I'm eating beet spaghetti). Appetizers are solid too with a great charcuterie board and burrata, and there's an extensive cocktail list including daily specials, plus great NA options. The only thing that has missed the mark in my experience is the butternut squash ravioli which, while I was told was tasty, comes in a such a small quantity that it doesn't feel quite worth the price.
