I come to MSP often for work, and it's always a challenge to find a decent, healthy meal late in the evening downtown. Fortunately, the Earth Bowl at Star fits the bill and will probably be a go-to on future trips. It's a nicely seasoned, balanced, and clean-tasting assortment of greens, other vegetables, grains, and optional protein (shrimp was a good choice). And the generous pour of cab sauv complemented it well. Food aside, the space is very inviting and calming (and geometrically interesting, being circular in design), perfect for catching up on some reading during my meal. Service was also pleasant. The only thing is that there wasn't much else on the menu that appealed to me personally, so I'm hoping the bowl isn't something temporary or seasonal. In any case, I look forward to my next visit.
Step into the Star Bar and the whole room seems to exhale a mellow groove. Warm wood lines around the space like a bassline in motion, smooth and warm, pulling you in with its low-key charm. Above you, the ceiling twinkles with tiny starbursts--little cosmic sparks that shimmer as if the night sky decided to come hang out for a drink. Mellow music drifts through the bar like a velvet breeze, soft and smooth with just enough rhythm to make the room sway. Portions of the walls glow like a resting rainbow, washes of neon blues, juicy purples, and sunset oranges rippling like liquid funk. At the heart of it all stretches a shiny black bar, sleek as a midnight record spinning under the lights, catching every hue like it's part of the show. Comfortable chairs lounge around the room with an effortless cool, while cocktail tables orbit the groove--some for whisper-close conversations, others for the kind of laughter that fills the air like good music. The whole place eminates a soft, rhythmic magic--a bar that doesn't just set the vibe... it plays it. An old fashioned arrives like it just stepped out of a velvet-lined time machine, even the orange peel seems to strike a pose. The cocktail itself is a tiny masterpiece: a deep amber glow, smooth as a late-night sax solo, with a single crystal-clear ice cube lounging in the glass like it owns the joint. A whisper of citrus oils dances across the surface, catching the light as if the drink is winking at you. The cherry? Not plopped--placed, like it's auditioning for a role in a retro heist film. It's not just a bar--it's a pocket universe of calm coolness, a tiny city all its own where the night moves slower, the drinks taste smoother, and everyone's invited to relax into the groove. Cheers!
Beautiful, modern atmosphere with a warm and stylish vibe. I loved the unique lighting, greenery, wood details, and patterned floors. It feels upscale without being too formal. The space is spacious, clean, and really inviting, especially around the bar area. Definitely a great spot for a date night, drinks, or a nice dinner. Amazing food. The service was friendly, quick, and respectful. Our server was attentive and made us feel welcome.
We dined here because as Diamond Elite with IHG, breakfast was included in our stay. Breakfast did not disappoint. First off, the restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. An open concept with high ceiling, tables spread out, plants around the bar area, a closed off room for a party, and enjoyable music playing at the perfect level. A nice sized menu offering a diverse selection of meal and drink options to satisfy any palate. This establishment offers reasonable prices for all items and very satisfying portion sizes. Outside of this being included with our stay, I would definitely come back to dine here when in town. The service was fantastic. Music enjoyable! All around wonderful experience 2 days in a row.
While in Minneapolis for a Twins game we decided to stay and dine at our hotel rather than venture out. The Star Bar & Bistro is connected to the hotel. It was dark, but table lights are adjustable. There is a round bar and various types of seating. I ordered a Mediterranean salad with blackened salmon, but received regular salmon. Salmon should have been warmer. The dressing was runny and olives were colder than expected. My friend ordered side salad with garlic croutons. They had recently changed the menu, so he received breadcrumbs. He had obviously received an outdated menu. We both rated our entrees as fair. On the flip side, the servers were very personable and engaging. We had fun interacting with them. Indigo Hotel told my friend that Star Bar will validate parking, but they don't validate parking for anyone per waitstaff. Food is available until 12:30am, so that's a plus for those who dine later.
I stopped in on a whim with my friend while walking around the city looking for food close to 10 PM on a Tuesday night. We were able to sit wherever we wanted. The space of the main bar itself with the constellation on the sky was really nice. However, the booth and table we sat at was quite dirty unfortunately. Our server came over and she was very friendly and helpful throughout the whole visit. My friend and I split the following items: -BLACKENED SALMON: The salmon was cooked well but the flavor profile of the item was very...confused. There was blackened salmon over rice, with sweet chili sauce on the side alongside feta cheese, avocados and pickled red onions. The different flavors just kind of clashed. -ARTICHOKE DIP: I love artichoke dip so I was very excited to order it. However, the dip was quite disappointing. The actual dip part was very watery and bland. They also served it with deep fried pita triangles which was a bit too heavy for me (would have been better if the pita was not deep fried). My friend and I only ate a bite each which the server noted and was so kind to take the cost off our check because we did not actually eat it. -COBB SALAD: The portion of the salad was huge! Lots of great toppings and was a good option for those looking for a tasty salad. All in all, while the food itself was hit or miss, the service is what really stood out here.
I have been to Star Bar a couple times for happy hour or dinner have had a great time, great food, and great service. Happy Hour Menu has great selections: 1.The sliders with shoestring fries were well flavored and fresh. 2.Parmesesn frites has the right balance of salt and cheese. 3.Spinach and Artichoke dip with the garlic pita was also very yummy and great for sharing. Dinner options are a bit more pricey but good. I have also tried the Blackened shrimp scampi for dinner which was delicious and wholesome. The portion was very generous and filling. Star Bar is a solid happy hour options because it is consistently good. Plus, the space has an inviting ambiance and fun decor with cute nooks surrounding the bar.
I've been wanting to hit up Star Bar since it opened. I had a good feeling about the happy hour menu. It didn't disappoint. The food was great and the drinks were too. They even have hh in Friday. There's a lot to choose from on the hh menu. My friend and I shared wings, crab cakes, Brussels sprouts, and the whipped feta toast. All were delicious and portions are generous. Wings had a nice crisp and were substantial, not tiny. The whipped feta toast is a sleeper though, and prob the one I enjoyed most. Lots of accoutrements, super tasty. The sidecar was great and so was the Benedictine Manhattan cocktail. Strong but well balanced. We were greeted with a warm and thoughtful welcome, esp considering what's happening in our city rn. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Nice, upscale ambiance and decor. It makes for a great after work happy hour downtown or a great spot for a more formal date night. Located inside the Indigo hotel. Plenty of on street metered parking on surrounding blocks. Will be back.
Kyle, the bartender was awesome. Great chat and suggestions. He needs a promotion or a raise. Buffalo wings were made perfectly. Crispy like I asked. The dessert was so different. Kind of deconstructed Matcha Cheesecake. Sooo good.
We went there after seeing Sir Paul. I was in a daze but my SO knew I needed to get some food in me. I had a burger, He had a fancy salad. They were both quite good. The service was a little hurried since they were closing in an hour and a half and had an influx of people from the show. The drinks were good. The place is in a hotel but feels cozy and nice. I can't speak to the whole menu but the late night offerings were good.
I really liked their happy hour here! Super convenient to have this spot inside the hotel. The service here was super friendly too. I think the items on the happy hour and the late night menu are definitely my preference over anything else.
Saw Star bar and it looked beautiful. Quiet and dark. BUT!!! If you have to sear yourself , is it a restaurant? Sat myself down ordered drinks and food. My food was brought before my drinks. (Thumbs down) When my drinks were finally delivered they were watered down and the cup was sweating with condensation. Then my son and I were ignored and I never saw my waitress again. I had to get up and ask for the check. Artichoke dip on happy hour tasted great!
The staff was attentive and kind. The food was hot and fresh. Despite the cold weather there was a nice sized crowd but it still had a cozy feel. Will be back!

Old school style for a bar, food was solid enough but forgettable, the variety of drinks was quite solid, as one would expect for bar. Was here for a vendor party so didn't really have control over the menu, but the experience overall was quite good, and the round/conical main entry room definitely felt like a 50s or 60s throwback that was kept in immaculate shape, at least enough to leave us impressed. read more

A delightful meal. The atmosphere is classy and casual at the same the time. The service was good a very friendly but not overly friendly server took excellent care of us The food was spectacular. The blackened shrimp was flavorful with a bit of a kick. My wife really enjoyed the Earth bowl. Went to a catered rehearsal dinner here and had a fantastic dinner! Love the salads, curry cauliflower, grits, and filet! Toffee cake with vanilla ice cream was delicious for dessert. Drinks were great and service was fast! read more

Today is only morning one at Hotel Indigo and due to my hubby's IHG status he chose breakfast vouchers as his reward at checkin. The vouchers are worth $15 each so you pay the difference if your brunch option is above that, but I loved my Steep Cut Oats w/ Brûléed Bananas, Blueberries, Dates, Pecans and Butter (butter was on the side and I didn't use it) which were $14. My hubby was surprised by how much lobster was in his lobster omelette since it was only $18. Can't wait to try something else tomorrow morning! The options are great and available until 3pm! We took the food up to our room today but will eat down there one morning since it looks nice down there! read more
We had an odd experience here - we came during lunch and the bartender was also doing the table service. We waited a while due to this. Our food was okay - I got the wild rice soup and was disappointed. But the fries and the French onion soup were good! Can't say I'd come back, but it was cute in here. read more

In the Hotel Indigo Star Bar is spacious and a funky atmosphere. The service was fast and attentive. Staff were friendly and the manager checked in on us as well. The fried were crispy and flavorful. We liked the lobster pasta as well, not too spicy. The sea bass was a bit salty but the crispy skin was still tasty. Tons of Brussels sprouts as well. Reasonably priced. read more

I'm surprised at the quality of the food of this restaurant! Given it is a restaurant attached to a hotel, I honestly did not have very high expectations. Those expectations were met for sure, but I would not go as far as saying that they were exceeded, as my only complaint from my overall experience eating from this restaurant was that I found the steak quite tough when I ordered their steak and eggs breakfast here. Not ideal, but not the end of the world either. Service is pretty good and relatively quick, but certainly not the most efficient service I have experienced. The decor and interior is amazing. Beautiful wherever you look and very classy. All in all, a good experience here, but I would only come here if you're in the area or vicinity, and would not come here from out in the suburbs, for instance. read more

This place was so good I'm hopping over here to yelp to cross post my review cause I believe they deserve the extra positive buzz. I was staying in Minneapolis for a week and decided to treat myself to a stay at the hotel indigo. I got in late and checked out the star bar since it was still offering the late night menu. I'm used to hotel bars and restaurants being perhaps a bit overpriced, but to my surprise and delight the star bar has the decency to be some of, no joke, the best food I've ever had. The smashburger is a must try, even the beef patty itself was delicious plus the excellent toppings- that garlic aioli is to die for- and amazing fries. I don't even usually care that much about the flavor of beef on its own but I still could tell it was really high quality and perfectly cooked. The fries were so delicious- light and crispy without being dry or getting stodgy as they cooled- I got them on their own as the parm frites another night. The chicken sandwich is a simple item made elevated by how well it was cooked and dressed. The coleslaw balances out the heaviness of the hearty chunk of chicken. It was so good that even when I had the leftover second half for lunch the next day, without even bothering to heat it up in the hotel lobby microwave, it was still nice. I only had the breakfast once, when I treated myself to the french toast. It was a bit intimidating coming out to the table being made of thick slices of baguette, but turns out baguette is the ideal french toast bread! The texture was literally perfect, not mushy, not too firm. The whipped cream was decadent and even the berry garnishes were a needed pop of freshness in a rich dish. Not to even mention the drinks. I love that they have a mocktail menu, especially since I personally like to space cocktails with non alcoholic drinks to pace myself and stay hydrated. I also had a sore throat most of my trip in the aftermath of a cleared up cold, and I survived off the blueberry bliss mocktail. The gin and jam cocktail was in season during my trip, and I'm so glad it was- its absolutely delicious. They make the blueberry compote used in it fresh and it absolutely shows. What really makes this place above and beyond, though, is the service. Every night I was there, I chatted away with whoever was serving me, be it in the bar or when I was in the bistro for breakfast. Every single server, bar tender, and I believe a supervisor or manager who was there a couple times, was amazing. Super friendly, super on top of service even on the couple nights I saw it busy. I wish I'd caught names so I can shout them all out, but even if I had I'm unfortunately terrible at recalling them. So let me just give my personal blanket appreciation to the entire staff- you're all stellar, and you all made my first visit to Minneapolis so wonderful, I can't wait to be back. read more

Great place! We had the burger and got a seasonal peppermint White Russian and Mezcal Apricot drink. Both were excellent! The service was great and we were all attended.
