Group of friends and I got sat down fairly quickly for dinner. The food was awesome and our server was very tentative but we were only checked on once during our meal for any refills or additional orders. We were planning on staying longer but we're brought our bill and our plates kept getting taken away while there was food still on it. Usually servers will at least ask if we are done eating, would like to order anything else or would like some boxes. Service was friendly, but underwhelming. Long periods of time between being seated and ordering drinks, drinks arriving, ordering food, and food arriving. We were in no rush, so no big deal. Food was typical sports bar food. I had the black and bluey burger, and it was as expected. Good, not great. Wife had the pickle burger, and liked it, but said she would not rave about it. The food wasn't really that great. I had the Strawberry Hill burger which has peanut butter and jelly on it. I was exited about it when I ordered it, but when I got it, there was little flavor. I know, crazy. The burger itself didn't have much flavor, although it was cooked to a nice medium rare. As a side, I ordered the Fielder's Tots which were similar, lacked flavor, perhaps even overcooked. I also had a bowl of chicken and wild rice soup. I was on one mission when visiting Fielders Choice in Northfield and that mission was the Ultimate Bloody Mary! This thing DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The 25oz drink uses a delicious house made mix and comes garnished with 2 cheeseburger sliders, a hotdog, soft pretzel stick, 3 loaded tater tots that were life changing, your standard meat and cheese skewer and a celery stick. As if that wasn't enough, a full sized beer back of YOUR choosing came along with it. I sat at the bar for the Bloody Mary visit and the bartender was absolutely excellent. Prompt and friendly. Food was AMAZING, the server was so incredibly sweet - we had a great area to kick back & could hear each other chatting. Their beer menu was great & a lot of drinks I had never tried, so getting to try new flavors was truly fun. We had the wings for a starter & it was some of the best wings I have ever had. Great service with immediate seating on a Saturday evening. I enjoyed the BBQ Bowl and it was a fantastic combination of ingredients. Returned to Northfield to celebrate my sister's birthday! Love coming to Fielder's Choice! This is one of my favorite burgers, can't go wrong with an easy on a burger! We ordered the onion straws appetizer which came out in under 5 minutes which is great if they aren't already cooled off. This is basically one of the only other restaurants in Northfield besides El Tri Unfo, QB Club, Carbones with decent food but a little over priced. I got kicked out of every other bar in town so have to go here. Their beer selection is insane and burgers are top notch quality. Not a big fan of the pizza although it's not bad. Mike is definitely a great chef with a good attitude and always makes sure my food was more than satisfactory. I wouldn't really recommend if you're a family on a budget but if you want to spoil yourself with good food, drinks, sports on TV with a nice atmosphere and have lots of money then come here. Had a great meal here on a trip. All our food was well prepared, and the staff was exceptionally friendly.

I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo and I was pleasantly surprised, for $12 the portion was large. The food was great, my boyfriend got a burger and said it was amazing. A Monte Cristo is a battered and then deep fried ham and cheese sandwich, a variation of the French croque-monsieur. Hard to find at a lot of restaurants or they are not done correctly. Fielders goes one step further and adds 2 kinds of cheese, american and swiss along with turkey and ham piled high. They serve it with a ghost pepper jelly that is sweet with a little bit of heat the perfect combination and way better than just plain old strawberry jam. read more

We visited our freshman St. Olaf student and took her for dinner. At the advice of some other parents, we tried Fielder's Choice. There were only a couple of tables of guests when we arrived. Upon walking in, I stopped in the bathroom. There were 2 empty soap dispensers and an air dryer for your hands. So.... not only could I not wash my hands... I couldn't dry them and needed to turn the door nob, with my dirty hands (as many others have) on my way out. Gross. If an establishment can't take care of their bathrooms, they don't care about you as a customer. I shudder to think about the kitchen. Two things about that: 1) I couldn't figure out how to order online and 2) when I called to order they said it would be ready in ten minutes! (Great!) I ordered the Strawberry Hill which is a PBJ burger with bacon and pepper jack with sweet potato waffle fries, fried cheese curds, chicken wild rice soup, stuffed tots, bacon Mac and cheese, pretzel breadsticks, and a house salad ($79) The strawberry hill was amazing, very unique mix of flavors! My wife didn't care for the Mac and cheese. Everything was very tasty on my end. We live in the Cities but get to Northfield occasionally and usually have good food here but the other night when we ate here it was very disappointing. First of all their choice of tap beers and wines was scanty. I asked to try a cabernet that was on the menu and was told they just have the little bottles so that wasn't an option. That was not promising to start with. I had the patty melt with fries while my wife had the chicken sandwich with waffle fries. She said her sandwich was find but didn't care for the waffle fries. Meanwhile my patty melt was soggy and bland to the point where I couldn't even finish it. As far as the service our water glasses were never refilled although I hesitate to blame our waitress because it looked like she was handling all the tables in the restaurant. The bottom line is that with all of the other food options available in Northfield I doubt we'll be giving Fielder's Choice another try. read more

Wow! I finally made it to Fielder's Choice for the first time since it opened in the fall, and I'm so glad that I did. I know exactly where I'm going every Monday and Tuesday next fall.
