What a shame that this Northfield icon has gone down hill so much. Today our take out order was missing food and the gyros were less than acceptable. They forgot the garlic bread and the gyros were nothing more than a pile of dry meat hastily prepared with 1 red onion slice and one half slice of tomato. Our extra sauce was also nowhere to be found. This was the 2nd take out order that was missing an item and less than acceptable. Normally I order the gyro meat pizza and get it delivered. Delivery nearly always comes quickly, understandable exceptions on weekends and dinner rush, and the pizza is superb! This time I decided to try the actual gyros. And they did not disappoint. There was more than enough food for 4 servings/meals, which was what I was hoping for, and the price is spot on. Still no dine in option, but that's okay. It's a small family run place and everyone I've talked to has been extremely friendly & welcoming. They have become my go to when I'm craving a deluxe (for me) meal. Highly recommend! read more

We love their pizza. It's our local fav. I've heard good things about their Greek salad but haven't tried it yet.

Such a cute little mom & pop pizza place! Great food, cold beer, and relaxing atmosphere. This family-owned pizza place was being run by the two daughters of the owners on the night that we dined. This must be a popular neighborhood joint because they knew almost everybody who walked through the doors. A place with lots of regulars really speaks to its quality. They seem to be truly loved in this small town. We had the French fries, boneless buffalo wings, pepperoni pizza, a bbq chicken pineapple pizza, and a slice of baklava for dessert. The French fries were by far in my top 3, ever. Perfectly crispy yet soft on the inside. The buffalo wings were EXTRA spicy (but I am a baby about spice!) but again, perfectly fried and crispy. The pizzas were wonderful and extra cheesy. But the baklava stole the show...perfectly light and crispy phyllo paired with a honey nut and cinnamon flavor. We learned that it's homemade from L of B&L. Beers were served in a frosted mug which was a great touch to pair with pizza and wings. We learned after talking to the daughters that the family came over from Greece and opened this pizza place, hence the Mediterranean theme with the baklava, Gyro pizza, and Greek beers on the menu. We roadtripped down to Northfield to try B&L's on a recommendation, and it was definitely worth the trip! This was delivery order. I usually like B&Ls. Unfortunately the review I'm about to write doesn't reflect that. And to be fair, I would have given today's experience a 1 star if it weren't for the fact that they usually do better than this. I ordered a taco pizza, a deluxe gyro (comes with gyro, fries, and salad), a separate order of fries, extra tzatziki, ranch sauce, and pita bread. Mostly, I was upset about the taco pizza, which I called the restaurant about. Now I'm upset about how I was treated during my call. The situation: 1. Taco pizza was missing the taco seasoning. And, maybe because of the missing seasoning, it tasted like someone accidentally used spaghetti sauce instead of pizza sauce. Or, maybe someone did use spaghetti sauce. And the lettuce and tomatoes were cooked under the cheese (not on top like they usually are) which made the lettuce and tomatoes all wilted and gross. However, they managed to put the slices of red onion on top of the cooked pizza, so not all of it was cooked. Regardless, between the missing taco seasoning and the toppings that should have been raw and fresh, but weren't, it was terrible. 2. I called to ask about the recipe. Maybe it had changed. Maybe I got exactly what I was supposed to get but I didn't like it. 3. No... It should have had taco seasoning. No, they should have used pizza sauce, not spaghetti sauce. Yes, I asked for sour cream and they were out and no one thought to call and let me know. I didn't even ask about the lettuce and tomato because I was told, "we've been doing it this way since we opened, and that's been 22 years." 4. The manager would not accept/admit that something might have been incorrect. She told me to look at the edges of the pizza crust to "see" the taco seasoning. I'm telling you, I was looking right at it, and it was not there. Never mind that I know what taco seasoning tastes like and there wasno any, but no, there were no visual indicators on the seasoning either. 5. I offered to bring the pizza back and show her that there were no signs of seasoning, show her that I did not eat the pizza because it was that bad. She said, "no, there's no point, we don't take pizzas back." Seriously, that's how she interpreted my statement? Did she really think I was trying to return it like someone might return a shirt they didn't like? She told me she was the manager. Don't managers know how to interact with their customers? Is this how she communicates with everyone, or was I the exception to her normally well-mannered and helpful self? I was not trying to take advantage of the restaurant, I was upset that I could not eat what was delivered. I wanted the pizza I ordered, not the one that was delivered. 5. I had to say directly (because she did not ask), "is there anything you are able to do to fix this?" She replied with, "what would you like me to do?" I said, "I don't know, give me my $20 back, give me a free pizza, something." She replied (paraphrasing this part), "we can only do something today, we don't want to take care of issues from today on a different day." So, I said, "fine, a refund will work." To which she said, "we can make you another pizza." Ugh. Why ask me what I want if you aren't going to do it? So, I ended up having a different pizza made. But seriously, why did she need to make a bad situation worse? 6. The extra piece of pita bread I ordered was added to the deluxe gyro order. That was not where it belonged. The extra pita bread and one of the tzatziki sauces went with the greek salad and should have been packaged separately. That was my lunch for tomorrow, lettuce, tomato, onion and feta (the salad) in pita bread with tzatziki. Instead, I think someone else ate it not knowing why there was extra pita bread and extra tzatziki with the gyro they ordered. Or maybe it never got delivered. The gyro was for my roommate, I didn't watch them eat. I would usually overlook this, but when combined with the pizza fiasco, it is just one more thing they messed up. The whole experience was awful. I hope your experience is better than mine. Oh, the fries were good. read more

I think the B&L's is the best pizza in Northfield. They are the only place in town to offer vegan cheese for lactose intolerant folx. They have a lot of delicious pizzas. When you walk past, you wouldn't think much of it. The atmosphere is a small town family diner type but I really love it. read more

Okay, first of all, these French fries are to DIE FOR! This adorable family environment is perfect for a quick bite to eat or a nice sit down. The service is amazing and the entire place is run by a family. We live in Apple Valley and even though it's a 40 minute drive to get there, we've still managed to make the trip twice in a week for the delicious food and welcoming service and environment. We were in town for a visit and wanting pizza. a local friend suggested a little place in the downtown district called B&L Pizzeria. It was a nice little locally owned joint with a family vibe, very helpful staff and a big menu with more than pizza. So many types of pizzas with a variety of sizes made it a challenge to order " that was a good thing, they all sounded good" We ended up with three different pizzas, the meat lovers, half Hawaiian half cheese and the B&L special, all great, perfect toppings and great crust. Next time in town I'm heading to this joint! read more

Just orderer food for my child's 13th birthday celebration. He requested the chocolate cake and food like we always do every year. Only difference was we couldn't have our normal celebration inside due to Covid. Service was fantastic and always a friendly smile and wave. Food was delicious like always. I Love B & L. Have been eating there, or beginning at Bill's originally, and have always chosen it over others. However, I had it last night and noticed a change in the crust instantly. It appears they are now using cornmeal in/on the crust. I, personally, hate cornmeal on any bread. I noticed the gritty texture right away. I am sad about this. The Greek pizza with tomatoes, olives, and feta is really good. So are the onion rings. The server brought me the wrong dish recently -- something with chicken after I ordered a vegetarian dish. I wish the interior had a lot more personality and ambiance. It feels really generic. The fairy lights on the ceiling are a step in the right direction! How about some Northfield photos on the walls? Get some historic photos from the Historical Society, blow them up, and frame them. That's a freebie. read more

I've only ever had the pizza from here, but definitely enjoyed it. The crust is a bit dry for my tastes, but certain some love it. The toppings are always fresh and delicious. They've never offered crushed red pepper flakes or parm when delivering, so not sure if they even offer that. I love red pepper, so always leaves me a little sad when I realize they're gone and I forgot to ask. The restaurant is at a nice location downtown and generally pretty clean with good service too. It's pretty consistent and I like this pick anytime we are headed here. They deliver all over town, but do a solid service out to Imminent Brewery if you're looking for a pie to serve next to some solid patio beers. read more

We came here to celebrate after st olaf toyed with carlton and then spanked them with 57 unanswered points in the 2nd half. So we needed good pizza as it got just a bit boring after they kicked out the olaf cheer team. After you're ahead by 50pts, your stomach and cold nose begin to take priority. so B&L was open during the 4PM lunch and dinner break where other places were not. We liked that it was warm, had lots of booths up and down the sides of the restaurant, but could also accomodate big groups with the moveable tables down the middle. The waitresses were all super nice, checking on us to refill our drinks at good intervals, and even comped our salad when it was forgotten during the shift change. We ordered the gyro pizza as it sounded good and it was a flavor I had yet to try. It was great and we also thought the salad was pretty good for a college town pizza place. I want to express concerns about the lack of responding to customers with allergy issues and cross contamination. I have been to B&L two times in the last month. Both times an order was placed for a Gluten Free Pizza. While I realize they are not a GF establishment, I do expect them to take precautions to ensure their best effort at no cross contamination. HOWEVER, both times I witness them cutting the GF pizza with the same cutter they had just used on a regular pizza. Last night I placed the order also stating absolutely NO tomatoes. So not only did they use the cutter on a regular pizza, they also used it immediately after cutting a pizza that had tomato sauce and sliced tomatoes. When I pointed out to the owner that he had just cut my pizza with the same cutter he got very angry and wanted to argue with me. Then his daughter started in on me. I explained that they needed cross contamination training and was told that the mother attends those type of classes (but does not pass it on to employees?). The owner then threw the pizza he had made on top of the oven as he continued to berate me. I was then informed that if I wanted it cut with a separate cutter I would have to request that at the time of my order. I explained they would not have to worry about that as I would not be ordering there again. There are many restaurants that go the extra mile to make certain your food is not cross contaminated and that all of your allergy needs are met. I am a Certified Food Manager, have worked in several food establishments and know that precautions can be taken in restaurants to reduce cross contamination, starting with designated cutting boards, cutters, utensils, etc. that are only used for allergy issues. Please use caution when eating here if you do have food allergies! read more

Ordered a bbq chicken pizza and a gyro. It was a perfect pie. Crisp crusty edges and thin yet sturdy structure elsewhere. The sauce quantity was 'just right.' The chicken was tender and there was ample pineapple! Now, it was a great pie, something I would order again, but the pie doesn't even compare to the gyro. This family restaurant is what all restaurants should aim to be like. The tzatziki was phenomenal!! The meat was tender and piled high on a freshly made flat bread that was almost creamy. I find it quite funny that they show a pie cut pizza on this ad, but in reality they only cut it in squares even if you beg them to cut it like a pie. Their response was( this is how we do it! ) Love the food but we decided to take our business somewhere else after years of constantly pleading for a pie cut and they defiantly kept sending square cut in spite of the customers request. read more

I came here with my fam just to have a delightful time and eat some pizza. We sat in the biggest booth cause we didn't fit anywhere else and it was dirty so we asked them to clean it...15 min later it was half clean.
