I've tried many supper clubs throughout my life but this is the one. This one will transport you back to the 90s, not in a sad, outdated kind of way, but in a everything is homemade, small town hospitality kind of way. It was my moms 75th birthday and she requested to go to "an old fashioned supper club." After doing some research, I found this place! This restaurant is located in a small town and definitely has an "old timey" vibe to it. We came in with a larger group (13) the table was set when we walked in. The staff seemed very stressed. They were all running around quickly and when I said hello to one older waitress to ask a question she scoffed and kept walking. The hostess when we check in also seemed stressed and told us rudely to just stay where we're were and then she walked away. Our waitress however was very nice and got everyone's orders correct. We did have to wait for the bread and relish trays. Those came out right before our plates of food came out. I wish those would have also been on the table right away. I do understand we were a larger group but we had also made a reservation, and double checked with them the morning of the event. The food was very good! If you are looking for a thick cut of steak that is fork tender, look no further! This was also not a fatty piece of meat, so I was able to eat the whole steak. The baked potato I had was also perfect! I would definitely recommend the pink squirrel as it was very tasty! Overall I would give this 4 stars due to the staff (besides our waitress) the walleye soup being a tad bland and I wasn't a huge fan of the Demi glaze. Ambiance: old Germanic supper club, the lore of this establishment is framed on the walls for you to read Service: good (some turnover but the lead hostess/owner, who has been there for years is phenomenal) Food: upon seating you will get warm buttery garlic bread and a cold relish tray with fresh vegetables and house pickled items; so come hungry. Overall menu is mostly standard supper club fare, but the best version thereof. Also German food including the "better than I had in Germany" schnitzel Drink: Paulaner beer is on tap! Imported from Deutschland and more delicious than your favorite brewery. After dinner ice cream cocktails are also fantastic. Tips - It's wayyy out in the country, so roll down those windows and play that John Denver song when you pull off 35W. - Arrive early for the Saturday/Sunday Prime rib special, it's slim pickings by 7pm. - Get the pork schnitzel, not the wienerschnitzel. - Aside from my schnitzel and prime rib recs, the Rudy's signature steak is a great tenderloin steak. Tenderloin is a bland but tender cut, recommend to be ordered rare (if you like medium to well done texture, then a ribeye may be better); the house Demi glacé and mushroom on top adds nice flavor. - The crab cakes are a good app. The frog legs were something I am not used to - sometimes ordering a "curiosity" improves a food adventure. - Wash your food down with Paulaner beer - When the meal is done order one of the ice cream cocktails. - If possible ask to be seated on in the back room. They remodeled the dining room for a cleaner look, but that old back room maintains the original charm. And before you go don't forget to check out their hefty wooden vintage bar. Order a shot of jaggermeister or a cognac at the bar - There is a very old park with a big slide and vintage merry-go-round in walking distance, at the Webster town hall. Facing the restaurant, it's a block behind and to the left. A good tradition to walk here after eating, soak in the all the rural Midwest. Weather permitting, it is a must! read more

We're on a Minnesota supper club quest and this place was hard to get into. We called 4 weekends in a row, finally got a table and tried it. It's not our FAVORITE supper club, but it was very good. This place has a German appeal to it, lots of schnitzel and sauerkraut. We loved it all! Ranchero steak: juicy, perfectly med rare, loved the sauce! Walleye: it was so so. It's battered and not breaded, a little too much batter for our taste but very hot and gooey (in a good way :). Pork chop was a little dry but had good flavor and spice to it. Stroganoff was very good. Plenty of "wine" and cream flavor to it, which I love. All the sides were blander for our taste. Came here for my mother 60th birthday party. Service was prompt on food ordering, but slow/unavailable for repeat drink orders (only were asked once during a 1.5hr meal if anyone wanted another drink). Food was very solid with huge portions. Come hungry! As you get rolls, relish tray and 2 sides with every dinner meal. Shrimp was a bit over cooked and chewy, but everything else ordered got great reviews from our group. Other reviews mentioned the interior was outdated, but I found it pleasant and cozy. 4 dinner entrees, one appetizer, and a few cocktails was over $200. Wow, what a huge disappointment this was. I am going to make my case rock solid since I will be going up against other Yelpers who have given nothing but 4 or 5 stars. Take what you want, I will be as true and non-biased as I can be. We came here on a cold Friday night and we chose this place for a family get together. My mother-in-law had heard good things and it has a high rating on Yelp and so we decided to give this place a shot. We walked in and the place was packed, usually a good sign and I was expecting to get some classy supper clubbin' on! First off, groucho old lady hostess: it isn't polite to be pushy and rude to your customers. I don't know what your problem is, but learn some people skills please. You are the first thing people experience about this place and that is how you greet and seat them? Terrible. I had better staff host me at local pubs and bars then at this "fancy super club." Looking around, it seemed like the place was full of locals with large groups scattered all around. The place was lively, my father-in-law met like 3 different couples he knew and made his rounds greeting him. The decor is old and a bit outdated, but then again so are almost all supper clubs. It's kinda the supper club thing to be old and out dated, you know? Our waitress was good at giving us menus and then took our drink orders. The menu seemed like it was full of tasty super club fare: steaks, seafood, pastas, and their specialty - Swiss (some people say German but the menu said Swiss, which one is it? I don't know...) inspired recipes. I want to make a note that the service was extremely slow after that. We never got refills for out waters and food took a long time to come out. We didn't mind since we were using that time to socialize, but I thought I would make a note of it. Now on to the food, the meat of the review! It was a Friday so I decided to get the AYCE fish fry (heard it was the best ever, I would come to regret that decision) while my wife got the Beef Stroganoff (she made the better choice). My sister-in-law and father-in-law decided to get high quality steaks and I can't remember what my mother-in-law got (that forgetful). Salads came out with homemade dressings, bread basket, and a relish tray...all for six people. Neat idea, but seriously the relish tray had like 6 pieces of assorted carrots, celery, radishes, pickles, and olives. So have fun choosing one piece and that's it. Really, a table as large as ours and spending as much $ as we are? Give us at least two trays! Then the food came. First off, my fish. I was disappointed with the presentation; they looked like large glorified fish nuggets. And it just got worse. The first bite I took, my stomach dropped in displeasure. The fish was dry, tasteless and the batter was the same. How is this stuff the "best fish fry ever?" I read reviews from a guy who said he had been eating this stuff for over 30 years! Why?? I did not get anymore more even though it was all you could eat because frankly it was crap and I had a hard enough time choking four pieces down! Now the steaks. Another review here on Yelp says that you can't fool a farmer about meat quality. Well obviously Rancheros has been pulling the wool over the locals' eyes for a long time because these steaks were pathetic. Oh, and you are probably thinking, "Well you are a citidiot, how do you know what is good local quality?" Well it so happens that my father-in-law is a cattle rancher (and I grew up in the country) and so I think he would know what premium beef would look and taste like. He told me that he would be ashamed if this was something that was linked back to him; the steaks were basically "glorified hamburgers" and not worth the extra $. His words, not mine! Finally, the only shining star that we got and the only reason this place isn't getting a one star review. My wife's Stroganoff was delicious. It made the rest of the table jealous we didn't opt for the Swiss-inspired specials. If I had to come back here, I would get something off of that section and only that. Sauce was amazing and their homemade schnitzel was great. All in all, I'm not sure how this place warrants such high reviews. I am actually angry at this place because I feel like we were totally scammed. The price we paid for food and service was not in correlation to what we actually received. Supper clubs seem to be going the way of the dinosaurs and I am not surprised. Lousy service, overhyped and pricey food, and grouchy old employees. Who would want to come to those places? Rancheros fits that description nicely and I know that if this place was based in a city that is in the middle of nowhere, it might not fare as well. If you blink, you might miss this place and the entire town where it calls home. This is a hidden gem. The food was amazing! The broiled scallops were some of the best I've had. The garlic mashed potatoes are so delicious! I wanted more of everything. My sister was in love with the relish! The kitchen staff knows what they are doing. I can't wait to go back. Okay, here's the story: So I was at a fundraiser for my friend's son in law, who had been in a bad snowmobile accident. My friend and some other people at the table were talking about how great the food was at this supper club south of Minneapolis in a small town called Webster. I had never heard of Webster or the restaurant. They said that it was worth the road trip to go there. About a week ago we decided to try the restaurant and some friends of ours were up for the excursion. I made reservations. It was a beautiful 45 minute drive from Wayzata to Prior Lake and down Highway 27 to Webster, Minnesota. It is about 10 to 15 minutes south of Lakeville. This is a traditional supper club with dated 1970's paneling and architecture. However, the menu is very extensive and eclectic. Everything from hamburgers, chicken steaks, prime rib, lobster, King crab, shrimp to Swiss and German specialties like schnitzel and Stroganoff. There is something to please anyone's palate! Even if you like frog legs. We started with a simple relish tray and garlic bread. I had Rudy's Signature Steak with Au gratin potatoes and it was wonderful! I couldn't eat it all! My friends had Stroganoff and schnitzel with the sides of red cabbage etc. They all loved their food and complemented me on my choice of restaurants. I saw other people eating prime rib which looked outstanding. The county style bread pudding dessert (shared by the four of us) was fabulous! The best part is that the food is very reasonable with generous portions. Someday when you want to have good food and good conversation on a road trip through beautiful countryside, think about this place tucked away in a small town south of Minneapolis. You can also take the less scenic route down Freeway 35 W. It very well might be worth the drive! This is a great spot! Paneled walls and classic supper club feel + German food specials. We were here celebrating a 90th birthday - they have a semi-private space that can accommodate about 40. Portions are big. We had onion rings - which I recommend. Schnitzel and spaetzle and clam chowder soup (~$23) and the prime rib special (~$20) which was awesome! We were a bit surprised at the drink prices $7 a beer. My BIGGEST regret was not realizing they make their own shandy!! I would try that next time. I also might split a meal and get an appetizer. Absolutely worth a visit. Fast-forward past the blink-and-you-miss-it downtown, the nondescript facade, uneven parking lot, crumbling sidewalk, and wonky railing. Once you get inside, it's clear they didn't spend money on the decor. The service was also a bit confused on a Saturday night in Covid-time at 50% capacity. But none of this matters because if you're in search of splurge-worthy meat and potatoes, this is the place. Top quality food, well-prepared and served piping hot. The relish tray, except for tasty pickled beets, is forgettable. The bread basket is sub-par. On to the meat: just wonderful. Tender and divine. I also had broiled scallops that were plump and delectable. Excellent sauces. Potatoes (we only tried au gratin and garlic mashed) were obviously home-made and exceptional. I was excited to finally dine here, I have wanted to for awhile but my scheduled hasn't allowed the time. It seems like a loong way to this place but it's not that far really, especially compared to daily commutes! I enjoyed a good Oktoberfest beer and a salad with home made Italian dressing, which was good enough to drink alone!! Bread and a "relish" tray accompanied the salad. Bread was delicious and fresh from the oven. The Relish tray consisted of celery, homemade pickles, olives, radish and pickled cucumbers slices, very nice to enjoy with a salad. Every night they have specials and "signatures". The special on Friday is all you can eat fish (cod) and fries for $16.95. There are 8 or 10 "signature" items which rotate from day to day. One of these, (which was unavailable last night) was hasenpfeffer. It's a traditional German rabbit stew! I would have totally ordered this. However I chose Rudys Steak from the signature menu, 12 oz filet and I ordered it medium. It looked great as it arrived but it was covered in a sauce. This was a major let down for me as I tried the dish. The Steak was fabulous and cooked perfectly. I order Steak for Steak, not sauce. My opinion is, if it's a great Steak, I don't need anything with it. I want to taste the steak. The sauce was like a cross between brown gravy and au juis, it was extremely salty and almost overpowering. After a couple bites, I utilized the second plate, which it was served on (because it was hot) to move my steak and wipe the sauce off. After this the Steak was better. I would have been awesome with the sauce on the side. I ordered the German red cabbage as a side. I like this sweet and a little spicy , very good. The waitress didn't check on us much and let us sit for 10 mins without drink refills also. This being said, I will go back but I will inquire more as to sauces and will request the sauce on the side. I urge you to try this place. read more

Had the New York Steak and it was the best steak I have had in along time. My girlfriend had the Filet Mignon she said it was one of the best steaks she's had ever and she is from Amarillo, TX. Everything from the decor, hugh portions of food to the service was great. We will be back!!! read more

Food was decent but service was terrible. I got my meal and my husband got his side but no steak. By the time his steak came out I was about 3 bites short of done eating and his side was long gone. He ordered it medium and it came out mooing. They took it back to refire and we waited. It came back and it was beyond medium but at this point he was starving and I was done eating so whatever. They offered him more bread. Without a doubt they should have offered a round of drinks, dessert or a discount. But bread was somehow supposed to fix meals served around 20 minutes apart. Horrible service right from the start with the hostess. One of the older female hostesses that seems to run the show was very rude from the start because we didn't have reservations which we didn't notice on the website. I believe you have to call. The waitress was new and did a good job besides that she messed up part of the order but she redeemed herself and comped a part of the meal without asking, mistakes happen. The steak was pretty good. Don't order the Au Gratin potatoes, it's frozen French fries with cheese, the waitress said that's there biggest seller, gross! I've been frequenting The Ranchero from the cities for more than a decade with my family. We've put a lot of miles on our cars to make our way to good ol' Webster to enjoy a variety of amazing German-inspired delicacies (they say its Swiss-inspired, but okay/whatever). The pork schnitzel, cabbage, gravy & cheesy spaetzle combo can't be beat. But if nothing else, come for the mere $30 filet mignon the size of your fist with the most beautiful tender mushroom cap on top (AKA the late Rudy's Special). The only thing (and I do mean the only thing) wrong with this gem is that they made the unfortunate decision to remodel for a more modern look. It was amazing before, how old school it was: red & white checkered tablecloths, paneled walls, kitschy decor -- the works. Those of us who remember the "before" remember it well. Alas, we will be back (and will continue to be back). Do yourself a favor and make this one part of your regular rotation. (But make sure to make reservations in advance as the host is not a fan of drop-ins... just trust me on this one.) read more

The menue choices are so good and endless for me. I can't get away from from my favorites for the entire menue is my favorite.
