Touted one of the top 10 steakhouses in the United States, we agree. We ate here two times during our four days in Minneapolis, each time we were delighted with the service and quality. This is not a small portion steakhouse, and they have pretty much any cut of different steaks and beef selections. My husband got a rib eye the first night, I had a delish wedge with grilled chicken, and we started with fresh oysters, a shrimp cocktail, calamari... If we weren't stuffed enough, we decided to put a few plates in the middle of the table, this massive, decadent Kahlúa cake that would be enough for five people to share, we unbuttoned our pants and shared also a Keylime pie and a fantastic bread pudding. Everything was top notch! The other night, tired from a long weekend, we were staying in the hotel and decided just to pop in for an easy dinner... hubby ordered the prime rib, loaded salad, baked potato and a Guinness. I had a gorgeous locally grown heirloom tomato and burrata salad with pesto, grilled shrimp, and of course we stayed fries. Noting just like the food portions are massive, so are their cocktails! Definitely heavy pours so beware (there's prohibition a sort of speakeasy up on the 27th floor, which we went up to later after dinner, but probably didn't need to with the generous pours from Manny's bartenders. Framed pictures, dotting the walls, many with celebrities and athletes, but also just some really funny locals and visitors showcasing the establishment lending a very cool old-fashioned vibe. Manny's would be a good business dinner spot, date night, or prime choice of time out with friends. Staff was amazing, very attentive, gave great recommendations (with food, but also local landmarks and sites to see) and took the time to check on us frequently. We came to Manny's Steakhouse for lunch while I was visiting MN. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the restaurant! ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant was clean and had a warm, inviting feel. It was also cool seeing how many celebrities have visited over the years! FOOD: We started with the delicious bread and butter, followed by the calamari and king salmon. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, and the salmon was cooked perfectly, though maybe could have used a bit more seasoning. SERVICE: The service was excellent throughout our meal. Everyone was kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. PRICE/VALUE: Prices are definitely high, but that is expected for a high-end steakhouse. Been going to Manny's Steakhouse since the mid 1980's in the original location and always the best service, food & vibes until last night. Ordered the big filet mignon Pittsburgh Blue and it came out PERFECT. Cut it in half stacked them to take a picture for Yelp minus the napkin/place mat & before I can press the button on my phone, Sammy the bartender picks up my plate steak topples & parsley goes flying. I said what on earth was that about and Sammy said "you need to keep the Napkin thingy under the plate, instructions from my manager." I said I was doing it just for a second and I would immediately put it back because the pic looks BETTER without the napkin. I didn't say another word & start eating the steak & low & behold SAMMY starts jamming the napkin under my plate again. LOL $75.00 steak and that's the treatment? Spoke to the very competent & cool manager Silas possibly Cyrus & he agreed that of course the picture looks better with the dark walnut bar as a background opposed to a Napkin saying he instructed no such crazy policy & apologized. The steak is the reason you come. Manny's has the kind of vibe that's getting harder to find with no gimmicks, white tablecloths, classic steakhouse energy. It's comfortable without being fussy, and the room feels like it's been doing this a long time. Because it has. The dry-aged ribeye (80+ days) was outstanding. Deep, complex, perfectly cooked. This is what aged beef is supposed to taste like. The shrimp cocktail starter was equally solid: big, clean, classic. Where it slipped for me was the sides. Both arrived barely above room temperature. The baked potato had none of the crispy skin or fluffy interior you expect. It tasted like it was steamed at 10am and sat in a tray until dinner service. A friend who frequents Minneapolis occasionally insisted I go there and treated me to dinner. I called and asked about parking before I went there. He Valet with dinner is $20- about same price as an uber. I sat at the bar since I was dining alone and in no hurry. The two male bartenders were super nice and had been working there forever. Locals/others at the bar kept to themselves. I had a perfect dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. I ordered the bone-in ribeye and Mac and cheese. Best steak meal ever. It has been many years since we have been to Manny's Steakhouse and I'm very glad that we returned for our wedding anniversary dinner a couple of days ago because it was perfect for it. The food was delicious and the service was great. We got two side dishes to share and the french fried onions were even better than expected. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the prime rib (since that is usually my preferred cut of meat to go with) but the bone-in ribeye was a great choice for me - super flavorful. As everyone knows, it is not normal that I give a five star rating. That being said... Manny's was one of the most exciting, personable, friendly, and just all around fantastic place that my daughter and I visited for our lunch in Minneapolis Minnesota. They are known for their beef, but the service and everything else that my daughter and I experienced while we enjoyed lunch there was just off the charts! It all started with Greg, the manager of the restaurant, and the fact that I had left my credit card at the adjacent bar the night before during a pre-wedding mixer. Greg was amazing, friendly, and immediately was able to bring my credit card up front and we told him we would be back for lunch. The restaurant, located at the Foshay Tower, was only a three block walk from the hotel that we stayed at... The Normandy Inn & Suites. We sat at the bar and talked to Dave our bartender the entire time we were there. We obviously were there for the beef so we ordered the French dip roast beef sandwich. The service was exemplary, the food was just amazing, but it was the people and the atmosphere of the bar that will bring Emma and I back to Manny's every time we visit the Minneapolis area. It is a really good thing that I have family that live in Minnesota. Greg swung by where Emma and I were seating just to make sure that everything was OK. He also stayed and chatted with us for a few minutes before he went back to help other customers. The ambiance of this place is phenomenal- you definitely want to have a reservation is place because while it's kind of spendy - this place was packed on a Friday night! The staff is phenomenal in answering questions about the meats. They actually roll out a cart and go over all of the cuts for you which is great for a beginner and they're super knowledgeable for people that want to really dive into the meat! This is a traditional steakhouse experience where nothing is really included with your steak so you'll want to budget some money to paying for sides. One side is enough for two people and definitely feel comfortable talking to your waiter about portions! We had the Brussels sprouts which were phenomenal and loaded baked potatoes and that was more than enough for the four of us. We each had a steak - I had the larger filet mignon and this is where the experience fell flat for me. I felt like the steak was incredibly bland - it came with a bearnaise sauce which helped but I think it might be worth springing for the butter option or something that just adds to the steak. The steak for me would've been a 2 out of 5 stars. We had the Manny's brownie for dessert and that was spectacular. Again - huge portions so one was more than enough for the table. I really think this and the Brussel sprouts were the highlight food wise. This place is not for the budget conscious diner - you're paying for the staff's experience and attention and for some big portions! Everything from the excellent food to the top tier service and elegant but welcoming ambiance was wonderful! We skipped appetizers because we knew we wanted to save room for the giant portions that were the main courses. I dined here with my family of 4 and almost wished there was more of us so we could try more food without filling the fridge with leftovers. I got the bone-in ribeye with garlic butter which I normally get cooked medium and the server recommended getting medium+ because they cook things less than the typical temperature. Even still I felt like my steak was cooked medium rare. That would be my one complaint from the night is that there is a universal scale at which steaks are cooked, why do it differently? The steak was still delicious though. For sides we got the broccoli with hollandaise and the homemade chips. The homemade chips stole the show, they were perfectly cooked and came with a delicious aoili. My mom got the burger with fries and the consensus was the chips took the prize! Ordered a couple of the house red wines, which I don't recommend. Just pay a couple more dollars for the other reds by the glass. We split the burger which was delicious. Covered in French fried onions and it comes out on split plates which each having a side of fries. It's the perfect amount for two. If you have been in before for the burger, they recently changed it from 2 8 oz smash patties to one 10 oz patty at the same price. Chris K. was our server and started off the experience with the table-side meat cart, and suggested the bone in ribeye over the prime rib, and we also had a filet. If they have the elote (corn), you must get it. The elote was sweet and spicy all at the same time. The steaks were perfectly cooked at a medium, nicely seasoned and melted in your mouth. The food here is beyond amazing and its so much more than that. This is probably one of the nicest restaurants I've ever been to and they absolutely live up to their reputation. When seated and I looked around I could see that not only is this a very high end establishment but it was also very family friendly. I wanted to love Manny's, I really did, but for the prices I simply can't afford to go back! I'd much rather dine at Pittsburgh Blue (their sister restaurant) and not leave having to sell a kidney. I like that they offered two different kinds of bread and a cold salted butter. Moving on to the main meal, the hash browns which everyone told me is a "must get" fell so flat. They lacked flavor and salt. The elote corn, which was the special at the time, was good but could stand to be a little more creamy and less spicy. It was tough to make a dent in it because it was too spicy for us. My fried shrimp were way overcooked and left me wishing I just went to Red Lobster instead as they do a better job with their fried shrimp. My husband's steak was cooked nicely but lacked seasoning. Lastly, the bread pudding was fine but the bourbon on top didn't add anything to it. I wish I would have asked for no Maker's Mark poured on top. I've been to Manny's 3 times, twice for dinner and once for lunch. I'm between 3 and 4 starts and going to err a little on the harsh side just because of the price, reputation, and high expectations built up by other Minneapolis folks. The highlight is the presentation where the waiter brings out a bunch of shrink-wrapped steaks and explains the cuts with a comedic presentation. At my most recent visit, my steak was undercooked and I sent it back to finish. Steak sandwich was a good lunch option. I think two of the signature sides, hash browns and glazed/smoked bacon dish are fun but overrated. I was fortunate to have my meal paid for twice at a company event and the other time was for an anniversary dinner when I first moved to the city. Service is great and food is good. We all ordered the NY strip medium rare, some chose broccolini some chose fries and we ordered the loaded hashbrowns to share. Steaks were cooked perfectly with a nice salty char on the edges, the broccolini was the superior option over the fries and don't even get me started on those loaded hashbrowns - oh my gosh, cheesy, crispy, huge fat chunks of bacon and a nice dollop of sour cream and fresh chives - yum yum yum. Plenty of meat selections ranging from beef to chicken to seafood, but you're really there for the steaks. Valet or public parking garage is available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We came here on low key Wednesday night and Manny's was still packed! For steak selection, we were first shown by the waiter the meat selection which was intricately displayed. The Manhattan that I drank to start the meal was lusciously rich and whetted my appetite for a full feast. And that we did- with friendly Midwestern service that remained professional throughout we had a decent Caesar salad, tasty carpaccio, unique scallops with hollandaise and kicked off a pretty okay Bordeaux. Nothing in the first few courses blew me away, but they all hit well enough. Then we got hot with a 24 oz lobster tail and a beautiful porterhouse that were both very good. Nothing was differentiating about them in any way other than they were well executed steakhouse classics. I love an old school steakhouse. And this place is def old school. We had 6pm dinner reservations which we thought was maybe too early, but this place was slammed when we got in. The restaurant has a buzz that you only get at a steakhouse. Sean was our server. It was his 64th birthday the day we dined (as was my wife's bday). Sean was the consummate professional who took extremely good care of us. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, the wedge salad, Caesar salad, the petit filet mignon, bone in ribeye, their house specialty hash browns , and broccoli with hollandaise on the side. The shrimp cocktail was just how I like it. Extra spicy cocktail sauce and the shrimp were cooked perfectly, not too firm or too soft. The wedge salad was very well done. There must have been 3/4 lb of bacon lardon on this thing. Loved it. The steaks were both exactly as we asked for them: medium rare. Seasoning was beautiful. The hollandaise was creamy and smooth. We ordered our steaks medium, and they came out mooing. Even my boyfriend, who likes it more rare than me, said it was aggressively rare. That, plus the steaks themselves were nothing special, was a red flag. I also think the sides were pretty mid. Nothing stood out, and if you're paying that much, you deserve outstanding food.
