Good, quick service. Delicious avocado coffee, Mexican bowl, and burrito. Also a wide selection of bakery items. We tried the lemon raspberry bar which was amazingggg.

OMGosh, that's really all I need to say. From the moment we were greeted by the adorable and super friendly host, the outside seating area to the food... everything was perfect. Couldn't have possibly asked for a better experience! Thank you so much for being the best place we dined at all week long!!! Highly recommended!!!

I love that they have multiple vegan options. The vegan hash was really good. Portions are generous and I couldn't even finish all the food. I got a side of avo with it and it was perfect. The strawberry matcha was also surprisingly lovely as an option. I was able to avoid allergens with oatmilk too so that was awesome! The service was attentive at the bar and the vibes were kind of quirky diner ambiance. They also had a cute little shop at the front. Would recommend!

Look at the size of that caramel roll...and it's swimming in sauce!

The food is delicious, the space is huge for a downtown eatery ! Service was good for a busy morning. One thing to note... the booths have hooks on the outside of them which appear to be a safety hazard. I'm saying this because one of the staff's shirt caught on a hook and they dumped a glass of ice water on me... not their fault... but what if that was hot coffee or hot food or something somebody was allergic to? The situation could have gone south fast. As the staff were cleaning up the mess they mentioned how they had told management about the unsafe hooks, and the person mopping up the floor also caught themselves in a hook... Despite the free cold shower I'd definitely eat here again.

Cute place. Nice outside seating. The food is just ok. Too much sauces and extras.

Early 2000s warm, cozy, and inviting ambiance inside. Service was excellent and quick moving. I ordered the Babe's Benedict and it was the most unique and most delicious eggs Benedict dish I've ever had!! I also tried the Crab Eggs Benedict (not pictured) which was also another 10/10 eggs Benedict. The hash browns served with were perfectly crispy and super flavorful. 1000% would come back

Very inviting breakfast joint in downtown Minneapolis. Staff is very friendly and the decor around the restaurant was quirky and fun. We ordered the carnitas hash, which was filling and delicious. We had the chilaquiles Rojas which is their version of breakfast nachos and the Babes Benedict. The kids' pancake was huge but super cute for the kiddos and $8.00. I would definitely recommend Hen House was groups or families visiting Minneapolis. I liked the strawberry matcha but I really could not get down with the avocado coffee, that was too acquired for me.

We were visiting Minneapolis to attend a concert and wanted to find a nearby breakfast spot. Hen House was a five minute walk from our hotel, so we gave it a try. The restaurant is quite large and super cute. We were greeted and seated right away. The walls have fun little things written in chalk and it is very bright and cheery inside. We received the menu and waited a bit before our order was taken. We did not need to wait long for our food to arrive. My daughter and I ordered the same thing with slight variations--Two Eggs, Potatoes, and Toast. I chose the Hen Potatoes which were amazing! Tender on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside--not greasy at all. My daughter had the hash browns, which were just as good--not greasy, but perfectly crisp and flavorful. The seven grain toast and jam were great and our scrambled eggs were cooked just how we like. My daughter also ordered a fruit cup, which was filled with a bigger variety of fruit than she expected and she loved it. I ordered a side of bacon and it was delicious. While the food wowed us, our service was just okay. She was polite enough, but did not check on us until we were well into our meal. Thankfully, we didn't need anything. Our check and my payment were dealt with promptly, which we appreciated. We also ordered a caramel roll to go and were very glad we did. Super tasty and not overly sweet. If you are in the area, stop in. You will not regret it. The prices are higher, but it is worth every penny. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area.

I visited Hen House during an early December trip to Minneapolis. I was able to navigate there through the skyway from my hotel. As a solo diner, they put me up at the bar stools near the check-in. The place was decorated for the holidays. They have mugs with sassy sayings and a whole merch section for Hen House aficionados. I had read that this is a popular spot due to its all-day breakfast, particularly the breakfast cocktails, cinnamon rolls, and Southern-style fare. I ordered a cinnamon roll - the only one available was the berry which wouldn't normally be my first choice. It is huge! Super sweet. I also saw that folks recommended the crab eggs benedict. I followed this recommendation and wish I hadn't - it's not what I'd normally get so I don't have a good reference for how good it was or wasn't. To me it was fine but I kind of wish I'd gotten something else, especially for $23. Overall this place has personality and makes good diner style breakfast food. I'd order differently next time, but there would be a next time if I re-visit Minneapolis.

Good breakfast and lunch spot in downtown. This is also a full on bakery with cake, brownies, homemade bread, and damn good coffee. Restaurant is casual diner style and is clean and tidy. Service is prompt and efficient. My four star rating is due mostly to the high cost low value $33 basic breakfast. It was good, but I'm not in La Jolla....

Amazing food, the chorizo bowl was delicious and juicy. I had a drink and I liked that it wasn't watered down or too strong (it was just right). The service was great and I like how they offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. It had a cool vibe to and a bright interior color. Will definitely revisit.

My initial thoughts when I stepped in were that I was stepping back in time. When I worked downtown a decade or two ago, Peter's was the place for breakfast and often lunch. THough Peter's is missed, Hen House has really made the space their own in a wonderful way. I was very pleased with a number of vegan choices on their menu. I ordered the vegan breakfast hash, and it is one of the best I've had in the Twin Cities. The bloody Mary was also good and I really appreciated that they included a beer chaser with it. It was a really great place for brunch in downtown Minneapolis. I would definitely stop back.

Good food and service. And super fast. Walked in on a Saturday morning and was pleasantly surprised to get seated right away. Ordered the carnitas hash and it came out in less than 10 minutes. Very fresh flavors. Server was amazing. When I said we were in a hurry, she suggested over easy vs poached eggs. And she got us the bill and boxes right away. And split the check by what we ordered and came back in seconds with our cards.

    Do they accept reservations?

No they do not. Get your rear end there early...and take some cake home after you eat

    Is there bottomless mimosas?

We do not serve bottomless Mimosas although we do serve crafts of Mimosas as well as a Menage of Mimosas. Delicious.

    Is there parking nearby?

There is limited street parking or public lots 1 block to the west or north. The north lot is connected to a skyway and would allow an inside connection if weather is a factor but I think it was $9 for an hour.…

Looking for bar bingo in the downtown mpls area?

I don't believe this would be the place for Bar Bingo. There are many other establishments in downtown area that may have this that are walking distance.

Are dogs allowed if seated outside?

There is no outside seating and not sure if they are allowed inside unless they are official service dogs.

    Where is it?

Downtown Minneapolis per the address shown -- ground floor of larger office building

The appetizers were flavorful, and overall, the food was satisfactory. My wife's fish and chips appeared to be made from pre-prepared ingredients and just heated, which is understandable. The interior has that classic vintage pub feel with lots of character and natural light. There are tons of booths and different seating areas that could accommodate parties of all sizes. I especially liked the glass dividers between some of the booths, which give you a little extra privacy without making the space feel closed off. My booth also had coat hooks and easy access to outlets, which I appreciated. I could definitely see myself coming here for a working lunch. My server was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially as I was trying to figure out how to use a couple of rewards I had on my account. I specifically came in wanting to try the fish and chips. Their lunch menu offers smaller portions of several dishes from the dinner menu, including a fish and chips option for around $15. I really wanted to try the walleye, though, so I ended up ordering the full dinner portion for around $28. The fish was absolutely the star of the plate. The breading was fantastic--crunchy around the edges while still light and fluffy--and the fish inside practically melted in my mouth. The tartar sauce was also really good and paired perfectly with it. The sides, unfortunately, didn't impress me nearly as much. There were plenty of fries, but they were pretty average, and the coleslaw was mostly cabbage with a light dressing. It felt like it was missing some acidity or lime to give it a little more personality. For almost $30, I also expected the meal to be a bit more substantial. I left satisfied, but found myself hungry again a couple of hours later, so I'm not sure the dinner portion felt worth the price for me. If you're mainly curious about their fish and chips, I'd probably recommend trying the smaller lunch portion first rather than committing to the more expensive dinner version. Would I come back? Absolutely--the atmosphere, service, and location alone make The Local worth another visit, and I noticed several other dishes on the menu I'd be interested in trying. I just don't know that I'd order this particular meal again. The fish itself was excellent, but for me, the sides and overall value didn't quite match it.

It's usually not hard to find a spot but be prepared to walk a block or two if it's a busy day. I prefer their patio when it's open, but their indoor dining is a nice vibe too.
