I popped into Off the Rails a handful of times during the summer of 2025 because the location was convenient. Parking is street-only. It's usually not hard to find a spot but be prepared to walk a block or two if it's a busy day. I prefer their patio when it's open, but their indoor dining is a nice vibe too. I was originally lured in by their happy hour. The rail drinks are ridiculously cheap, but honestly, their regular cocktails are worth ordering instead. I'm a loyal blueberry margarita fan, but in the summer they bust out a blueberry mojito--only when the mint is in season. Trust me, if it's available, get it. As for food, I can be a bit of a mac-and-cheese snob, but the bang bang mac is pretty solid. Not life-changing, not anything special, but I've ordered it more than once, which says something. The French onion soup, however? Let's just say I will not be revisiting that journey. I love French onion soup, but this one and I did not spiritually align. Service is fine--slower when it's packed (shocking, I know). But everyone is friendly. Overall, Off the Rails is a good stop if you're already in the neighborhood. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if you're nearby and hungry, it gets the job done. read more

We arrived tired and worn out at our hotel after a 10-hour drive and were just looking for something close to have a bite to eat before retiring for the day. We got lucky here. Great food, nice cocktail and beer selection, decent service and reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? Well, one of our salads was missing some of the ingredients listed in the description, but our server quickly brought it out to us. Had some drinks at the bar prior to a show at the Armory. Great location. They have patio seating as well as seating options inside. We originally sat a high top table inside and waited a few mins with no server approaching us so when spots at the bar opened up, we moved right over. Came here pretty toasted after a Vikings game, it was pretty packed but the bartenders are well prepared for that and I got what I needed when I ordered it, so no complaints on that front. We ordered food that came out at a decent time but I must confess, I don't recall eating any of it haha. It's a standard sort of bar, nothing special about it, clean enough.. good flow. The only thing that stinks is the bathroom situation, I think that there are only a few stalls in there (or maybe one?), I don't know, I was advised that my luck would be better hitting up a porto potty outside, so that is exactly what I did. We came to off the rails prior to a show at the armory next door as it came highly recommended. Upon walking in the entire establishment is seat yourself and then a server comes to you with drink and food menus. We ordered the birria tacos to share because I was super hungry and it was a very large portion. One taco is huge and I ate maybe half and was super full. The tacos have seasoned beef roast and short ribs, slow roasted in a rich adobe sauce. 3 tacos built with onions, cilantro and chihuahua cheese. Fried to perfection in a 6' corn tortilla and served with consume for dipping. All for only $12.95 which is a bargain! The inside is very industrial almost reminds me of a brewery. read more

Super close to US Bank stadium for a pint and bite before your event. Ordered some sliders, burger, and fry basket to share with the table. It was bustling before the Paul McCartney concert, and prices are reasonable, considering how expensive the area in front of the stadium was charging. Not great, Bob! Only makes sense to go to Off the Rails if you're right there for an event and don't mind if it takes a while. Service is inattentive at best. Apps are mediocre, though the burgers looked better. I don't mind that they host acoustic singers on their little patio, but the rest of the place feels Cowboy Jack's Lite. read more

It was late and they were the only place open for food for blocks. The bartender was very personable. He recommended the double burger. It was a really great burger and an unexpected find. Just flew in and did a yelp search near my hotel. That burger is a definite redo! If you are in the area you should give it a try. They also have a decent selection of tap beers! read more

We were seated right away with many empty tables. Fifteen minutes later no one had said boo to us while others who came in were attended to immediately. I approached the person who seated us and asked if he would get our waitress. We saw him speak with a waitress and she looked over. Five minutes later she had still not come to our table. I cannot comment on the food and drinks because we left before anyone approached us. We spoke to another waitress on the way out and she seemed surprised that we hadn't been served even though she ha walked by our table several times. Honestly, I didn't love this place the first time I visited in 2023. Things took a positive turn in the summer of 2024. Great drinks, that are well priced and even a bit creative. Served quickly and efficiently with an amazing view of the stadium as well as downtown East's coolest park. The vibe is great on a nice day either way a great outdoor patio. Stopped in here for lunch since most of the stores and food stands in the skyway near Wells Fargo buildings are closed. First, the barmaid served me in a booth. Great attention and service. Made me feel welcome. Menu was burgers, salads, soup of the day (chili) and sandwiches. Not much in selection and wasn't in a burger mood. Selected the club sandwich on a toasted bread. Came with potato chips. Fries were an additional $1.50 more. Have to say the club sandwich was one of the better clubs I've had in a long time. Good amount of meats and bacon slices. The shrimp were cooked right and the batter was crispy but it lacked the spicy part. Maybe because it's downtown and the patrons are mostly non-spicy food consumers, but it lacked that kick I was hoping for. It came with some celery, wilted (probably 3 day old) pieces. As I picked up the rubbery pieces they just felt as if they were cut a few days ago and left out on the cutting table. The blue cheese dip was too watery as well. This was quaint little spot tucked away in Minneapolis that we stumbled upon. Very nice ambiance, bartender was a really sweet older lady taking care of the bar patrons and everyone in the dining room. Drinks were really good and the tator tots were crispy and tasty. In fact we ate them so fast I didn't get a picture. The visit was short for us because we had to pick up our son as he was there for a football combine. I've frequently walked pass Off The Rails as it went from an empty space below an apartment complex and built up into a restaurant. After learning that it opened, my bf and I decided to swing by to check it out and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was on day 2. My steak salad came with almost a full steak and the citrus balsamic was lightly fruity. I opted for no cheese so it felt like the salad was missing something but that's my own ordering. Something like a crouton or nuts to add a bit of crunch would be perfect. The patty melt was to die for.. The bread was crispy from the grill but soft to bite into and the star of the show was the jalapeño jam. It was tangy with a little kick and just slightly sweet. Even the fries were well cooked.
