I LOVE tiki bars!! Never heard of Vern's until my friends invited me out. I don't think I would have ever found it just adventuring alone as it's in an Alley & it's not always the safest to wander in alleys at night in this area. The place itself is smaller but cute. The seating options aren't the greatest as the chairs aren't very comfortable. They have a couple booths which might be better. Most of the drinks come in cute tiki themed cups, which I love. I got the Chi Chi & it was pretty topical. My friends ordered the appetizer sampler, which I didn't partake, it looked just okay though. Overall limited food menu & nothing seemed to stand out to me. The waitress was nice & offered us Miami Vice shots, which was good! I seen they have karaoke nights on Thursdays which is cool. Not sure if I'd be back but again, I do love a tiki bar!!

Such a cool space in the back of Public Domain! Great Tiki drinks ( a few slushies on tap as well)! Would definitely recommend for some high quality tiki drinks! Looking forward to coming back!

The atmosphere of the tiki bar was great. Makes you feel like you are on vacation and is a nice little getaway. Located in the back of Public Domain. I ordered the Hawaii sunset cocktail which was great as well as the sweet potatoes fries with garlic aioli sauce. Service was great on a sunday evening and was not busy.

Three dots and a dash on the left. Pain killer on the left.

I think it was perfect during happy hour and then could turn off when the dancing started. Food: The jerk chicken egg rolls were huge and had great flavor. Also enjoyed the little sliders. The meat on the skewers was a super weird texture like almost a mushy bite maybe it was like a vegan meat I wasn't sure. The service at the bar was a bit slow at times there was two back there but the staff worked really hard at the end as the party went late and the staff was awesome cleaning up around us til the last minute so thanks for that!!! We went back today and while it was still good, definitely wasn't as good as it was last time. The jerk chicken plate removed the beans, changed the rice, and got rid of the sauce so it wasn't as good though it was a bit less dry than last time. They also removed the Ropa Vieja from the menu which was our favorite. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and was not impressed. The fries with it were good. The drinks were still great. Service was friendly but slow (drinks, food, and waitress all slow). Another in our party got the blackened salmon which was really good. Unfortunately, I was so nervous they would remove or change the menu to be worse, which is a common theme I've noticed with 4 different restaurants by these owners now, so I was so bummed to see that's exactly what happened. Such a cool vibe, great drinks, and a really cool new patio - but the food needs a bit of work - bring back the Ropa Vieja and the better jerk chicken!

Turns out it was "Date Night". The music was great, covers of 90s r&b songs. We were sat a couch not too far from where the music was performed. It wasn't too busy as it was later in the evening. We only ordered drinks but they do have a select few menu items (maybe 5 things total). For drinks we got a tropical punch one (forgot the name), vanilla espresso martini and they also had free champagne as well. Drinks were pretty good. The overall vibes were lively and fun! Because the website is down not sure if they are open later everyday but they were open until 11pm this night vs. the 10pm posted time which was cool. Smaller intimate setting. The bathroom is in a shared hallway and requires a code. Parking is metered or there's ramps nearby. Wasn't too hard finding a meter later at night.

We have been there early in the week and the experience was not the same, not sure if it's just different mixologists on the busier days or what. The main reason this is not a five star review is the food. It's really nice to get snacks with your well crafted beverage but since the food menu changed to a Polynesian theme a while ago, we no longer order food. When it was a Cuban style menu, it was really good. But now, not just the style of food is different, but so is the quality. But we keep coming back for the drinks. We came on a busy Sunday evening, Memorial Day Weekend, and put our name down for a table. We were told it would be a responsible 25-30 minute wait. A wait that only ended up being about 15 minutes. We were seated at a table right next to the water which we loved. Very promptly greeted by our server, Julie, who was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable to the menu, made plenty of recommendations, and was very humorous making the visit even better. Started with the Loaded Nachos which were HUGE. They were piled high with all the goodies, plenty of queso, crispy chips, and extremely fresh ingredients. At first I was turned off by the $22 price tag but the size is actually a great value and they are perfect for probably 6-8 to share as an app or 2-4 to share as an entree. You can pop tan extra $10 for brisket, we just stuck with the ground beef. I also got the Stacked Club Sandwich which, again, was a massive portion. The deli meat tasted like it was freshly sliced and had a nice flavor. The lettuce and tomato were also very fresh tasting. This a perfect spot to stop and take in some sun, have a few drinks, and a bite to eat, all while enjoying stunning views of the lake.

One of the staff members noticed and kindly offered to show me around. Halfway through my mini tour, he told me that he was the one who did all the Christmas décor--and that he's been collecting these pieces over the last 15 years. I was really grateful for that experience. Honestly, the entire visit--from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out--was top-notch. For food and drinks, I ordered a Moscow Mule, the Meatloaf Wellington, and the lobster with cauliflower cheese. It was my first time trying a Wellington, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. The lobster, however, was a definite hit--I ate every bit of it! The drink was very good as well. For sure each items is on the pricier end but given the service your definitely getting your money worth. I also noticed they play live jazz music too, so I'm definitely interested in coming back for some good quality music.

This goes to show the caliber of this long standing institution. Customers are treated well and are respected here. Our snacks from the menu were delicious and perfectly sized. The shrimp cocktail was made well. The lamb meatballs were flavorful and hearty. My Hemingway Daquiri was refreshing without being too liquor forward. Love all the Luxardo drinks on the menu! We will definitely be back!
