Drinks at the bar

Love love the views from this rooftop bar- prob the best in the cities but it is very small so hard to actually get seats unless you go super early Service is slow here- but drinks were fine but way overpriced- basically you are paying for the view Great spot for date night !

This was a place I wanted to have an upscale cocktail on a nice summer day overlooking downtown Minneapolis. The bar in the lobby was very nice as I walked in. The front desk has override the elevator so stop there first to get to the roof top bar. The rooftop bar is very nice with lots of windows and many different cozy seating spaces. I would do the old fashioned and sit outside taking in the view of the city. My bartender was very friendlier and said that the old fashioned is there signature drink. This was a nice place to relax before dinner.

We forgot the name of this drink but it was good

First I wanna tell you guys, we came to This rooftop initially because we saw on Google that it had great views of downtown Minneapolis. We had a very hard time trying to get some good pictures with the beautiful downtown buildings, this city really lacks places where tourists or even locals can really take in the views of their modern downtown. We we were so happy to find this gem. Parking was quick and easy next to the hotel. Just Take the elevators up and you'll be at the rooftop in no time. There was a hilarious vending machine on our way to the bar that we encountered and we had to make a video with it. It featured items like the "adult sleepover kit", a "color changing mushroom night light", "fortune telling dice" and so much more. On our way inside the rooftop we got this very upscale hipster / trendy rooftop bar vibes. They definitely did a good job setting up the ambiance because wow, the view of downtown couldn't have been better. I really only have one piece of advice for the business owner: expand the seating area. While the hotel guests are sun bathing and there's empty tables and chairs galore, you've given them 2/3 of the square feet and most of your customers are not actually patrons of the hotel. I suggest allowing that area for all customers of the bar to use. If it's not possible to do that then maybe have a drink minimum or advance reservation required for rooftop access. I saw many people who were just slumming it up there and barely drinking at all. I saw one couple taking up a table meant for 5 while everyone else is walking around aimlessly looking for a place to chill by the view. I'm not too surprised to see most people rated this rooftop bar a 1, 2, or 3 star. I understand why though, the negatives definitely took a star and a half off for me too, but I rounded up to 4 stars rather than 3 because Minneapolis simply needs more places like this. The ambiance of the place really kills it and I appreciate having had the opportunity to go somewhere and have this beautiful view and drinks. Pro tip: don't come during peak hours unless you want to stand up the whole time

DRINKS: Our drinks were great and it definitely gave off the 'classy' vibe I was expecting! A great spot to bring visitors to see the city! SERVICE: Very friendly + efficient staff! AMBIANCE: I have been told that I need to check out Hewing's rooftop for a long time, and the views definitely didn't disappoint! However it was much smaller than I expected, so there wasn't too many seats/standing areas available.

We unfortunately didn't have a great experience here after being excited to try it out on my birthday. It's a gorgeous location, view, and bar area. There are only a few tables on the exterior, though, to get the skyline view. We got there at 5:15 and were pushed out of the way by another group to get the last table. We waited 2 hours on the couch inside and not a single table left during that time. They're not seated by staff, so many other groups that arrived after us were also walking around trying to find any tables opening up. It made it very stressful and would have been much better if seating was first come first serve. I tried the spritz and it was a good cocktail. The bartender was nice but other servers went up to everyone except for us at other tables/couches for drink orders. Overall, not really worth trying unless you get there right when they open at 5pm if you want skyline views.

Visiting from the East Coast and this roof top bar came highly recommended. I ordered an espresso martini and it was delicious! We went during the week. Not sure if you need to be staying at the hotel but an employee was kind enough to scan his key tag on the elevator to let us go. If you're looking for a low key quaint place to enjoy a few cocktails this is it!

Located inside the Foshay Tower, there's street and valet parking available! We entered through the W hotel lobby and took the elevator up to the 27th floor! We were met by a fun, retro-inspired lounge with many couches and tables available in a 360-degree set up. It has Prohibition-themed decor, but I wouldn't quite call it a speakeasy, as there wasn't any guise to entering or accessing the space. My only critique is that the space is quite dated, but not in a cool way. It could really use an update to the paint and interior to maintain itself as a "destination" versus just another hotel bar with a view. The bartenders were quite friendly and helpful during our visit. We had an Old Fashioned and a Paper Plane during our visit! Both cocktails were absolutely delicious and perfectly made. Now, at around $26 each, I would expect that level. Overall, a cool, historical spot to grab a drink!

I used to live in Atlanta, currently live in Austin, and have experienced nightlife in Nashville/Savannah/Miami. Thus, my expectations were sky high. Based on my research it appears the Twin Cities have limited options compared to the above 5 cities. And promising options like "Fool Me Once" were listed as already closed. There was a short line outside & it was chilly so I couldn't wait to be let in. There was no cover which usually means expensive drinks and that's exactly the case ($13-$14 per shot). The main floor was quite empty when we arrived around 11:30pm so I made a beeline for the basement hidden behind the bar, which I didn't see until I posed for my neon sign photo. Downstairs there is another bar to the right when you are at the foot of the stairs, and the famous disco room is to your left. We went on Saturday night and it was packed to the brim! I moseyed my way up to the DJ booth but it was annoying having to jostle the vacant & occupied VIP tables. My friend and I danced a little but left within an hour because it was so stuffy. But you know, that reminded me of a similar basement at Dark Horse Tavern in Atlanta where I used to go almost every weekend.

I approached the bar and asked for a dirty martini, specified my vodka preference and requested a lesser amount of the brine. Brandy (the bartender), began preparing the cocktail and I knew immediately that she didnt know what she was doing. I tasted a sip of the prepared cocktail and was very disappointed. I asked Brandy if another bartender could prepare the cocktail. Brandy found Dylan. Dylan was excellent. Dylan asked questions about my preference in vodka, how much brine I's like and asked if I wanted a vermouth rinse. Dylan measure the ingredients well and prepared the perfect cocktail. I was so impressed, I continued to order cocktails from Dylan for the remainder of the night and tipped him well. Later in the night, Brandy reapproached me and asked, "You don't trust me to make you a drink?" I explained to Brandy that once I have a bad experience with a bartender or server, I rather try a different server/bartender. It wasn't personal, but I refuse to pay for bad or mediocre service. While Brandy wasn't rude or mean, I believe she could benefit from more training in cocktail crafting and delivering an experience to the customer. I spoke to Hannah who was kind and receptive to my feedback. I would visit again and hope the next time my experience is even better.

The W was one of the host hotels for the official Prince Celebration 2022 festivities and the official welcome party was held at The Living Room. As to be expected, this party resulted in lots of people who came to dance, drink and to celebrate the 'Purple Yoda from Minnesota'. Surprisingly, this space was an excellent option for the party it has a dance floor area along with a large well-stocked bar which easily accommodated everyone's drink choice. Add to that, they had a few Purple drink specials for the night which were tasty. The bartenders did a great job in processing the nonstop drink orders and the servers were kept very busy throughout the night. When not used for parties, the ambiance is much more laid-back. As the name says, it has more of a 'living room' feel. In addition to the long bar, there are many sections of lounge seating (chars, couches, etc.) which are perfect for unwinding. Even after the party, the bar continued to be well-stocked; so well-stocked that a friend and I made a couple of discoveries while sipping one afternoon. To our surprise, they had a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle (10 year) along with a bottle of Weller Single Barrel. It's rare to find either at a bar; having both made for an amazing find. My friend and I quickly made it our mission to empty both bottles so we would each have a souvenir from The Living Room (we succeeded). Following the welcome party, the bartenders could have been a bit tired but that was far from the case, they were as energetic and welcoming as they were at the party. If interested in food to go with your adult beverage, they work directly with Manny's Steakhouse (also attached to The W) which means anything from appetizers to a complete steak dinner can be ordered and enjoyed while in The Living Room. On future trips, whether staying at The W or not, I will make a point to stop by The Living Room for an adult beverage or two.

It is probably the best in the Twin Cities. The DJ area was in the middle but kinda tucked away and hidden behind the super XXL sofas and chairs in this place, so you won't see them in the dark lights. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I like watching the DJ in action sometimes when I go out dancing. She was playing some good dance music. Before you head to Mansion, you have to come with an open mind and lots of forgiveness in your heart. Drink a lot or take a chill pill before you come because this place has lots of rules. The night we were here, there were more security guards and "hostess" sweeping the floor than regular customers. I call them hostess, but I don't really know what they do other than stand around looking gorgeous and smiling. They didn't greet us when we came in or take our drink orders throughout the night so I don't really know what they do. I heard there is dress code for the men so make sure you have collared shirt and long pants on. As for the ladies, you don't have to remind us to dress to kill for a night out. The is no cover charge so that's pretty awesome since we are sure to be drinking inside anyway. However, their policies for not allowing jackets laying around doesn't make for a fun time. I have never been to a club where they force you to either wear your darn jacket or pay for coat check service and only if you can find it due to poor signage. Firstly, I was told to remove my jacket from laying it on the arm rest of a couch that was supposedly reserved for an invisible party because no one showed up. Secondly, they tell me I can't put my jacket on the bar stool when we finally found some kind souls to share their limited bar seating area with us!! Really!!!!!!!!!?????? Mansion?????? My last encounter with Mansion's rules (whew this one tops the icing on the cake), I put down my empty champagne glass on a nearby table because we were having so much fun dancing that I didn't want to risk breaking a glass on the dance floor only to be told I have to put my glass at the bar! In short, he is telling me "bus your own empty glass, lady!" I asked him if he could take the glass away for me only to be refused because he is too good to do just that (provide good customer service) because he has a black suit on and an ear piece. I am a paying customer Mansion!!!??? Some advise for Mansion- let loose on your rules! There are not enough tables to put down our darn drinks so we can dance hands free! Instead, you have too many Reserved couches on the nights when your joint was half empty.
