Great date spot!! We came here before dinner at Porzana, loved the dimly lit bar. Service is very polite and offered many recommendations. We got the fries as a snack and they were really good, served with ketchup and mayo. Will definitely be back!!

Edgar was a fabulous and attentive bartender. I got the same cocktail as last time- the tuculo- which is like a smoky banana Negroni. Really enjoy this place and highly recommend.

This is a dark, fun cocktail bar, with lots of cool drink options and knowledgeable bartenders! I was looking for a drink that was less sweet before dinner, and the bartender let me know that their menu tended towards sweeter drinks, but was able to help me pick out some good options. A bit pricey, but worth it for the ambiance and energy along with the drinks! Some food here as well, coming from Porzana's kitchen. Definitely recommended to stop by!

The vibe of this place gave casual yet elegant. It was very speakeasy-esque. The food came from Porzana and was tasty. It was more little bites than full entrees. The drinks were great and the service was good! Definitely a place to hang with your friends and splurge a little!

This place has vibes! Swooped in with a decent size group (8) on a Saturday night so we had a bit of a wait, to be expected, but the host was super cool and got us squared away in fair time. This was my first trip and the space is small ish? Solid space for small groups, we definitely stretched the limits but they made it happen for us. The vibes are dark and moody, think, greenhouse at night with candlelights. Drinks were north loop pricing ($15-18) and all well crafted. I'd definitely recommend checking out and plan to go back. Our server was also super attentive. This place strikes like a great date night spot or chill night out with the crew.

Located where the old Marvel Bar used to be. You'll need ID to enter, 21+. It's very dim inside so don't count on too many photo ops. Unless of course you intend to use additional lighting. That said, viewing the menu was quite the challenge, but the the server must have noticed me using my flash and brought over a little lamp which was helpful. Other than that he did seem rather standoffish, but that didn't damper things for my friend and I who enjoyed ourselves. We both got the burger which was good, but eventually began falling apart due to the sauciness. To avoid that, just cut yours in half (which I should have done). To drink I got the Tuco Tuco which was very delicious, not super strong, nor overly sweet. I would get again! She got the Old Fashioned which I typically don't like due to how strong it can be. However, theirs wasn't; it was good. It's not cheap place, and the menu isn't extensive for a full meal. However, it's cool bar to visit for a drink or two before a night out, or to take someone when you want to feel hip and swanky. It's a bit loud, so be prepared to talk loud, or if you're on a date cozy up real close.

The atmosphere is super cool, the cocktails feature more complex liqueurs and mixers. Our drinks were okay, I prefer a simpler cocktail so I asked for something that wasn't featured on their menu. They didn't have fruit so they substituted with a liqueur which didn't work well. Our server was attentive with filling waters and such but didn't share much menu or recommendation wise. I'd go back but definitely stick to the menu. We came after dinner so we didn't get any food but I'm sure the food is incredible since it comes from upstairs at Porzana.

Such a cute spot underneath Porzana! I love the vibes and the music is the perfect volume - not too loud, which makes it easy to hear whomever you're talking to. The espresso martini may actually be the best I've had yet! It was delightfully sweet, but not overly sweet. Bar staff is really nice and the booths are so comfy. Seating is first come, first served so my group of 6 did have to wait a while to get a booth, but such a fun space. Will be back for sure!

I just love a good speakeasy! This one is one of my favorites. I loved the ambiance and great music. I sat at the bar and the service was great. I loved the variety of beverages and the menu is stunning, so many beautiful pictures! I ordered the empanadas which were perfect snack. This is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

The Flora Room was super vibey, intimate, sexy, dark, candle lit. Drinks were superb. High prices but quality, pretty drinks. Parking was pretty difficult on a Friday. We got in right at 5 but looked like there was a wait line while we were leaving a few hours later. I did street parking but ended up getting a ticket since I went past my meter time so just be aware about your meter time! Didn't get to try the food but it looked so good! Servers were very attentive. Overall great experience.

The flora room was a super cool spot to grab a drink with friends! The picture menu was helpful even though some of the fancy ingredients were a surprise because I didn't know what they meant. I got the pichi drink and it was really good! I stayed away from the stuff on the glass because I think it was spicy, but the drink itself was great! I loved how attentive the waitstaff was because our waters were never empty! The only downside was the extremely dark interior. It made for a cool ambiance, but nobody could see the menu that well. There were a lot of flashlights being turned on to look at the writing. Other than that it was a really cool experience!

Ask the Community - Flora Room

Does the Flora Room take reservations? I am thinking about coming there on a Saturday night and made 9:30 PM dinner reservations, but I'm worried about not being able to get into the bar at 9 o'clock.

They do not. It's first come first served.

I would recommend sticking with the regular fries and ordering a side of ranch as a dipping sauce instead! This is the only place that I'm aware of where you can get a vegan juicy lucy! Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

I made a reservation on Resy (I'll be letting American Express know that this establishment doesn't honor such things) for my birthday celebration at 7 pm. It was 7:30 before our order for beverages was taken. Then 8 pm before drinks arrived and appetizers could be ordered. At 8:45 pm, we finally could put in our dinner order. Only to be notified st 8:59 pm that our table (along with several others) were reserved for friends of the host for the second part of night and we needed to vacate the table for other people We had to box our just arrived dinner meals and stand with our drinks. Several nearby tables offered to let us sit with them as they thought it was awful that we were upended and we standing there with full drinks and our meals in cardboard containers. When we told our waitress that we wouldn't have ordered dinner or more drinks if we had known, she said that she found out one minute before she told us. She offered us two seats at a couch nearby to finish our drinks and try to eat our dinners. Only for the owner Fonzie to come over a couple minutes later and tell us that we couldn't sit there because other people were coming in for that spot too. Nothing in the reservation said that it was a limited slot and the fact that even the waitress was unaware that we were going to have to leave to table literally after our dinner was brought to us speaks to the lack of business management or understanding of this establishment. I've tried to give this spot a chance. But after a very disappointing attempt to celebrate my birthday this evening, I will not be returning. The lack of any attempt by Fonzie to rectify this situation was disappointing at best. Several hundred dollars down the drain and a ruined birthday celebration Is not how I envisioned my evening I normally do not make my posts public/sharable. But this time, I welcome you all to share this and warn people of the lackluster way that this business expects people to spend our time and money.
