Francis black bean burger, fries and a Francis Impossible burger with cheese. Plus a yummy drink.

Second time we have come here for dinner. They have a parking lot, and we were able to snag a space this time. Love the patio! The manager is really friendly, and we ordered via the online menu, although they do offer paper menus. We tried the Garlic Girl, and Francis burgers (one bean and one Impossible). Love the fries! Everything was very tasty. My daughter tried a Strawberry shake which was really delicious, and my husband tried a really tart hibiscus NA drink that he liked a lot. Will be coming back again soon!

Had an opportunity to try this Vegan burger spot so I decided to order to-go and was surprised by a few things. First the service was quick. I ordered and within 5 minutes I had my burger, fries, and milkshake. 2nd, the interior is very cutesy. I think it was a pleasant surprise upon entering from a cold december afternoon with a dark exterior for the building but it was pleasant to see. Next up the food was fantastic. I got a Garlic Girl and it came with fries and I liked how delectable the texture of the plant based meat was. The sauces were scrumptious and I honestly found it really good. The chocolate shake that I got with it was pretty good too, definitely a hint of coffee in it as well. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with this lunch spot.

Francis Burger Joint is more than just a vegan spot; it's a fantastic neighborhood burger joint that everyone, meat-eaters included, needs to check out. Perfect spot in the Longfellow neighborhood; the atmosphere is chill and inviting, hitting that perfect blend of dark, moody bar (for the grown-ups) and a separate, family-friendly dining room with cool art! I went for the Rodeo Burger and it was a revelation; always on my "to eat list" finally ordered it. Now you have to get the fries. Their shoestring fries are crispy perfection, and dipping them in the BBQ Aioli is mandatory! Seriously, even non-vegans will prefer it. They also boast Minnesota's only fully vegan full bar, so if you're looking for a meticulously sourced cocktail or a good beer, this is your place. The staff are welcoming and the service is quick. This place is proof that you don't need meat to have a crave-able, decadent, and satisfying burger experience. Go! You won't regret it.

Overall it was just ok. You do get the opinion of a vegan burger vs beef but I felt the texture was more vegan than beef. The person I was with didnt love their chicken sandwich either. Service was super friendly and cool location, just not my type of food.

I love Francis Burger Joint. This was my first time at their original Lake St location. The first time I tried them was their NE location. Everything, even the alcohol, is vegan! So if you are a true vegan you don't need to worry about checking on anything. I am not vegan or vegetarian even but I love this place. The food is amazing, burgers are delicious. They have impossible patties if you're nervous about trying the black bean patties. The fries and condiments are all amazing. The only questionable thing to me is the grilled chicken for the sandwiches. I didn't try that and my coworker who ordered it wasn't necessarily raving, however I know for facts the burgers are tasty asl. Service is very attentive and friendly. The vibes in here are unmatched. I felt like I was in a different world for a couple hours lol the pink/purple lighting is really fun. Definitely check out Francis Burger Joint for a good meal and good time.

First time trying Francis but I've heard such good things! I got the chicken nuggets, ranch fries, and my dad got a burger and a milkshake. My brother always gets the juicy Lucy. Everything was tasty and the service was great. The food is on the pricier side but understandably so.

Vibes were immaculate here! The wall art is so fun and cute. My sister is vegetarian so she was really excited to try the burgers and everything else here. As a meat eater, I was pleasantly surprised by my Francisco burger (which was an impossible patty) not too dry and the flavor was great! The jalapenos added a nice touch as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my fries, they were perfectly cripsy and were hot right off the fryer. My sister ordered the truffle fries, those were a bit too salty to my liking. The mixed sorbet was very good too! I liked the orange flavor more than the vanilla, the vanilla didnt taste like much. The tables and bathrooms were clean and service was super nice.

Francis is hands-down one of my favorite burger joints. With locations in both Northeast and South Minneapolis, it's always easy to stop by. The servers are consistently warm and welcoming, and the burgers taste just like the originals even though they're plant-based, I honestly don't miss the meat. Their drinks are always crafted with care and taste amazing. This is the kind of place I'll keep coming back to again and again.

Francis Burger Joint far exceeded expectations and might actually be my new favorite vegan spot ever. To be fair, I haven't actually had a burger yet because the fried chicken is just so unbelievably good that it's hard to branch out. It did take us a bit to be seated, but it was a busy Saturday when we went so that was completely understandable. I know a lot of people miss having menus, but being able to order directly through a QR code is extremely handy when the wait staff have their hands full (literally). The overall atmosphere is super cute, it looked like they were working on a patio out front for the summer which will be nice to catch some rays while sipping on a "milk"shake. The chicken and milkshake do have the *slightly* vegan off-taste that most fake meats and milks can have, but honestly it was the closest vegan chicken I have ever had to the real thing and the taste was so good that I actually might prefer it. They also have a solid beer list including NA beer, and a full bar. Overall, we will absolutely be back to get our fill of ethical diner food as and drinks!

Cozy, hip, stylish, and very comfortable burger joint with amazing service. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted. It's open seating; sit down, scan the QR code at the table, and place your order. I recommend spacing your order out if you're ordering a few items and creating a tab. The food came out fairly quickly and all at the same time, so next time, I will order my salad and wine first, then add my burger and dessert after I finish. I ordered the Francis Burger and added bacon and jalapenos. It came with fries. I had half an order of wedge salad. For my beverage, I took advantage of the happy hour and ordered a glass of wine $4, and for dessert, I had a lavender milkshake. Everything was 10/10, seriously, no complaints. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. This is a no tip establishment, and everyone I interacted with had a smile, was friendly, and appeared to enjoy their job. Whatever dressing they use on the salad was fire , and the toppings were very fresh, and the half portion was very filling. The burger was very juicy, all the ingredients were fresh, the bun was soft, and the cheese had a good texture and was actually melted. I enjoyed every bite, and the fries were very crispy and fried to perfection. The sauce that I ordered on the side, let's just say, I should have ordered two. The lavender milkshake was tasty and had no hint of artificial flavors. I only recommend ordering this if you enjoy lavender. The inside is just funky and hip, and the music playlist was perfect, perfect tunes while enjoying a meal. Thanks for the great meal.

WOW. I can't stop telling people about Francis Burger Joint! Their chai milkshake was hands down one of the best milkshakes I've ever had. The fact that it's made with coconut milk is just the cherry on top! And speaking of cherry, I had their cherry soda and gin cocktail and also loved that. They make their cherry soda in house and it's perfectly tart and sweet. Lastly, the burger. I am so impressed by the attention to flavor and texture at this restaurant. I've been to too many vegetarian places that miss the mark on flavor but Francis gets it right! I've recommended this place to friends and can't wait to be back soon.

Love this place. So, the story is that it was one of those cloudy cool summer nights, and we found ourselves in the Longfellow neighborhood along Lake Street. We drove by, and while it was too cool for the patio to be open, the patio lights were on, and it looked like a party. Walking in, we were greeted warmly and this place has a great vibe -- like cool to bring friends vibe -- and the food is great. We had no idea that it was a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, and I gotta tell you the patty melt and fries I had were really so good. The beer was icy cold. The server was fun, the bar is stocked, and we're going back. You order via a QR at your table, the tip for service is already included in the prices -- the whole experience was fun. Next time, trying the meatless chicken and some cocktails. Something I'm looking forward to!

This is an update to my original review and in response to the owners response (pictured) because I won't be gaslighted/ or bullied into silence or not exercising my freedom of speech and not speaking my truth. To address your claims of multiple reviews, I wrote and posted one, I have yet to be able to figure out why when I post a review it then post to all of my accounts (something that has been happening since before this post so save it) Your FALSE ALLEGATIONS are harassment, I spoke my truth and experience! Furthermore, I responded politely and honestly to you and the co-owner via email (which I can/ will post as well), to which NEITHER OF YOU REPLIED TO. I stand by my review and can see the poor service starts at the top/ from within. I have ZERO problems NOT COMING BACK TO EITHER LOCATION. I WILL pray for you. BLESSINGS After trying the Northeast location I figured I'd try this one since it's closer to my neighborhood, BIG mistake!! I was told my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes, it was more like 40 minutes!! I thought for sure my food would at least be hot after the long wait...nope, everything was cold!! I ordered the Brussels sprouts and Juicy Lucy burger, both weren't warm. The Brussels sprouts were burnt and over salted, the burger was haphazardly put together so it didn't maintain its shape. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this location!! Do yourself a favor and go to the Northeast location- better food, better service!!

Today the place was packed due to the festivities, and the parking lot was transformed into a large patio with a DJ, a small bar area, and an outdoor bbq that was slinging burgers, 1/4 pound hot dogs, tots, and popcorn chicken. There was also a meat raffle going on as well. Since it was pretty hot out, we decided to get a seat inside. The seating for today was largely communal to accommodate the large crowd, and we found a seat for the three of us. I went outside to get a smash burger, 1/4 pound hotdog, and a basket of tots. The wife stayed inside with the kiddo to order some drinks. The food cooking outside took tickets ($5 a ticket) and 5 tickets were bought for the food. Not a bad deal in my book. The food took under 10 minutes to get, and the cooks were working the fryers and flattop grill like pros. The smash burger was a nice size, came with cheese and grilled onions, and was on a brioche bun. The hot dog was a nice size, and the tots were plentiful, hot, and crispy out of the outside fryer. Run of the mill condiments were also available, and serve yourself. The wife said the smash burger was better than I make, and I make a pretty damn good burger. While we were eating, I totally felt the dive bar feel, and had the feeling this was pretty much a local bar hangout. Supposedly it's been around for over 70 years (with a name change). After eating, we went outside to see if we could win some meat in the raffle but didn't get lucky. We will come back though. Evidently every 4th Wednesday they have another meat raffle at the bar. The good news is the kiddo won a huge cake on the cake walk contest! We will definitely be back. I want to try their fried dill pickle broasted chicken. Time to eat some cake!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dishes they got & shared except for the steak which was over cooked for medium; still edible, but not worth $55. Including 3 drinks and a soda our total came out to $230 which is pretty steep but the quality and quantity of the food I think justifies it (except for the steak). The space itself isn't terribly large, and it looked like there were only three or four people working that evening. After being seated, it took a while before we were able to order our first round of drinks. Normally I don't focus much on service in reviews, but we could immediately tell our waitress was not having a great night. We were forgotten about a few times, but eventually managed to order some small bites, including a charcuterie board and some pretty yummy cheese curds. When we finally caught her for our second round, I complimented her glasses since they were similar to mine, partially in an attempt to cheer her up. I was met with a glare and a mumbled "thanks." When she walked away, all four of us kind of looked at each other like... dang, we're not sure what we did. Having all worked in service ourselves, we try to be respectful, stack our dishes, wipe up after ourselves, and generally make things easier where we can. Oddly enough, when it came time to pay, she returned with a completely different attitude... suddenly cheerful, friendly, and telling us to have a great night. Honestly, the whole interaction was a little bizarre! Service aside, the cocktails were balanced and genuinely good, the food was slightly elevated and hit the spot, and the atmosphere was great, especially with the DJ playing that night. We decided to Uber since we knew we'd be drinking, so I can't speak firsthand to parking, although it looked like street parking could be moderately difficult depending on the night. I'd still go back if I were in the area and the night warranted it. My guess is we caught them on an off night or they ended up busier than anticipated.

The food fare is your standard bar food, however they do serve breakfast, and the entrees I saw people woofing down, I'd hit this place up for breakfast. We opted to order the pork tenderloin and the sour cream and onion burger. Both were served on toast; the tenderloin on whole wheat with pickles and onions (you need to ask for onions) with a sizable breaded tenderloin. If you want a side I.e. coleslaw, cottage cheese, tots, French fries you need to order with your sandwich. The burger served on pumpernickel had fried onions on it with the sour cream. If I lived on the south side, I'd certainly make this my second home.

A Study in Patience and Poultry: The Unhurried Charm of Cedar Inn…read more Tucked away on Cedar Street just outside the bustling Minneapolis perimeter, the Cedar Inn operates on a frequency entirely its own. It is an unapologetic local haunt, a room thoroughly saturated with what one might politely call "character." To cross its threshold is to accept a fundamental renegotiation of time: one must abandon any sense of urgency, as the kitchen operates with a deliberate, unhurried pacing that turns a quick bite into an extended residency. Fortunately, the establishment provides ample diversion for the wait. The space is a veritable playground of local wagering, boasting an array of gambling options that keep the atmosphere charged and the patrons thoroughly entertained while the culinary gears slowly turn. When the food does arrive, the results are largely triumphant. An order of twelve wings, efficiently partitioned among a trio of diners, proved to be the exact mathematical ideal for a shared appetizer. More importantly, they were a genuine culinary delight--crisp, well-sauced, and deeply satisfying. The supporting cast of sides was equally formidable; both the onion rings and the French fries achieved a flawless, golden perfection that many loftier kitchens struggle to master. The experience is not without its rustic quirks, of course. The beverage program is staunchly utilitarian, dispensing sodas strictly by the aluminum can. And while the fryer was clearly working magic on the potatoes and onions, the fried mushrooms suffered a tragic loss of thermal momentum, arriving at the table regrettably cold. "A good local pub has much in common with a church, except that a pub is warmer, and there's more conversation." -- Bill Vaughan Despite the sluggish tempo and the minor misstep with the mushrooms, the Cedar Inn remains a fundamentally great local spot. It is an establishment that knows exactly what it is, requiring only that you adjust your watch to its rhythm. I will certainly be returning--if only to surrender to the pacing once more and investigate the promised draw of their Tuesday tacos. I'd seen rave reviews about this place, so we decided to go here to celebrate a personal…read moreaccomplishment last weekend! It's a really cozy moody interior, with *no big lights* aka great low lighting and comfy seating options. When we went, there were just a few other parties there so pretty quiet. I liked that we had a whole corner to ourselves with a sectional couch of sorts and some chairs. They close at 10pm on a Friday night, which felt absurdly early for a cocktail bar. But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

The drinks were good, and they also have a solid selection of beer on tap. The food portion are a bit small imo but I will say the Mac and cheese was pretty darn tasty!

The food is surprisingly good for a dive bar, I can't get enough of their fries and beer cheese. I recently mixed it up and got the spinach and artichoke dip and was not disappointed! I am a creature of habit and almost always get a cider on tap but they've got a pretty decent selection of beers and cocktails if that's your thing. Service is pretty standard, they're good at checking in if you're sticking around a while for karaoke. Wide variety of karaoke goers here, if it's on youtube you can sing it! If you hate karaoke, the other side of the bar is thoroughly separated with a small hallway past the kitchen in between.

Ambiance - kinda hard to describe, it has an old time feeling. They have old booths and lighting but I guess that's what makes it special. Service - our bartender/waiter was great! Offered suggestions for my burger and told us about a delicious IPA for our drinks. Food - I had the Hellcat Inferno Burger with BBQ sauce. It was a tasty burger and went will with the Diablo sauce that was at the table. Overall it wasn't my favorite but the food was good. It's been around for over 100 years so they must be doing something right.
