We started with Ahi Tuna Crisp appetizer - we substituted the cracker for cucumber. This twist makes it so fresh. The sauce is a bit tangy and avocado balances the tuna. So yummy! I opted for a cheeseburger - very good smash burger. I have had the Double Double in the past and that is probably my favorite burger with two smash burger patties, cheese and special sauce. It was time for my monthly dinner with a friend, and she chose Red Cow. A longtime ago, I remember coming here for brunch, but it had been so many years that I barely remembered it. I made a last-minute reservation online, which was quick and seamless. Parking was easy enough, there's a small lot, plus plenty of street parking options. For dinner, I ordered the double barrel burger with a side of fries, and my friend got the fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries. I enjoyed my meal, however, my friend thought the food was very salty and that maybe the chicken sandwich was fried in the same oil as the fish as it didn't taste much like chicken. We thought the portions were big enough that we had leftovers to take home. Service was just okay...nothing particularly memorable. I was surprised at this place. I was visiting and we walked for miles looking around and needed somewhere for lunch on the weekend. Found this place and it had good reviews on Google so we stopped in. The avocado toast was awesome, I loved the huevos divorcos or something like that and my husband got this funny burger with peanut butter and it was oddly good too. Tonight, we ordered the 60/40 with sweet potato fries and the Patty Melt. Everything was great, except the sweet potato fries weren't as crispy as I would have liked. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we grabbed a seat right at the bar, and the service was great. They even offered us the Valentine's Day specials a day early. St. Paul is filled with many eateries but this one is a great one for locals and tourists. We had the cheese curds, which of course were delicious. For entree we chose burgers. We needed somewhere to eat and this restaurant was a few miles away. Because it was early for dinner we were immediately seated. We were upstairs. Our waitress was amazing, attentive and knowledgeable. I had water and my husband had beer. We decided to have an appetizer, split a salad and then split a bowl. The kitchen actually sent our salad and bowl out already split. The food was well seasoned. I loved the spice they added to the apple Brie toast. Both the salad and bowl were so good. My sister-in-law had her Naturalization ceremony in St. Paul so we wanted a place to eat afterwards. I had heard the Red Cow was known for its burgers so we chose it for Arlin's brother who was in town from Vancouver. Glad we were able to find parking in the small lot! This venue has an outdoor patio which we considered but it was a little too humid. The service - once they made a table for 8 - was exceptional. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive. Cheese curds for the table were a hit! My hubby and niece had the 60/40 burger (beef & bacon) and while they liked it, the candied bacon topping was a little too sweet. The burgers are thick so if you like a beefy patty, these are for you! The grilled cheese I had was the best I've eaten in a long time. Overall a successful outing! read more

I never knew it had two floors, so it was pretty nice to dine on the second floor for my date--it was a bit quieter up there. I started off with the ahi crisps, which were sooooooo good! It's like a sports bar feel on the main level with additional seating upstairs. Burgers are fantastic, very juicy, one of the best that I've had I think - and I've had my share of yummy burgers. . Service was kind of slow - not sure if it's a result being upstairs, but we also had a ton of orders as well with our larger group. We have tried three times and each time the order was incorrect. On the third try, they left out one of the burgers. I love coming to red cow a lot because of their burgers and specifically the blues. Service was great and we were able to sit down right away. The road was closed because of construction so we had to park a little bit farther away. Both the Swiss burger. I had the aqua fresca which is always delicious and I'm glad that you can have a great selection of non alcoholic drinks. We had the avocado cheesecake for dinner and it was really good. My fiancé was a tree but allergy and didn't think that the avocado cheese cake had nuts because the ingredients on the menu weren't listed as avocado cheesecake with walnuts so we thought the dessert would be okay. Once we finish the dessert my fiancé starts getting a funny feeling in his mouth and decides to ask our server if it had nits and she says walnuts. At this point we know we have to go to the emergency room. Our server is obviously freaked out and feels really bad. We didn't have an epi pen so we searched for the bearers hospital. She told us if we could call and give an update and I said yes. We were able to get to the emergency room in time and ended up staying there passed midnight. It wasn't the evening we expected but I did call and gave an update that my fiancé was able to get the medical help he needed. I am going to be asking more if food has nuts because now I feel like even if something on the menu doesn't say it has nuts there can be a possibility that it does and it sucks to have to be asking a lot more now instead of being able to see on the menu all the meal has. read more
