Got the original cheeseburger on a pretzel bun and one on the regular bun. Both delish and well seasoned and juicy! Fries are magical here. So delicious! Did a take out order and everything went smoothly. Yum!! Always tasty here. I've also enjoyed the reubens, bone in wings and onion rings here in the past.
My quest to find the best Lucy brought me to Nook, and in summary it's a cool vibe. Nice Dive bar with friendly staff. Based on the atmosphere alone I'd return. The Nookie (Lucy) is good! Not my favorite, but also better than one of the places that claims to be the original... the fries were a little heavy on the salt, but all in all no complaints. Would return to try other menu options.
Hungry after pacing through the environs of the Sculpture Garden, and running out of time to have a "juicy lucy" while in town, I consulted my saved locations and up came the Nook. Though Google warned me of a fight to find street parking, we navigated the "full size" Jetta rental car, windshield wipers randomly expressing themselves, to find that a curb spot was open directly in front of the entrance. Kismet. Narrow dining hall all a-bustle, bar on the left side, we were given a table in the nook (wow) right under Guy Fieri's big noggin' advising us that the "Nook is off da hook." He was right. The menu and kids menu had a lot to offer. Kid 1 got a lil burger with a Five Guys serving of house-made fries (= a lot). Kid 2 was delighted to find that soup of the day was tomato basil to pair with a grilled cheese sandwich, served on tasty sourdough bread. Kid 3 (me) was delighted by the "#7 burger", which I will have you know is Joe Mauer's new favorite. In addition to the obligatory stuffed patty, it came topped with lettuce, tomato, bacon, smoked cheddar, and chipotle mayo. For an appetizer, I was excited to find that I was offered a last chance to eat Walleye (fried "fingers" style) before returning to the "Almost No Walleye Ever State" aka California. The batter was perfect, the fish was succulent with big hunky flakes--delicious. Then came the show. The burger was impressive in its appearance and demeanor. I was warned to give it some time to rest, lest I suffer a cheese explosion on first bite. I was fine with it, thanks to the Walleye and the perfectly crispy waffle-cut fries served with my burger. Then came the time, and it was glorious. The unctuous spillage of melty cheez combining with the robust and well-seasoned beef patty, the crisp edges of bacon, and the freshness offset of the veggies, well it was a time I had that evening and that's best left between me and myself. Except I am going to share a video, unflattering close-ups of my face and food-chunk-hosting upper lip thanks to kid 1's cinematography notwithstanding. Check it out. And by all means, go to the Nook. Oh, also, our server was magnificent, kind, and made my kids happy, so made me happy. I do not recall her name. But she knows who she is. I also heard the bartender making pleasant conversation and being generally affable with a lone traveler under his charge.
Hip burger joint with a bowling alley! The whole place is an experience. We got seated downstairs, and there are dollar bills plastered all over the walls and ceiling. Very unique concept. I wish I knew about this earlier so I could have decorated my own dollar bill and taped it to the restaurant. So if you plan to visit, plan ahead! I got the original juicy lucy burger, and my spouse got the Molitor burger. Fun fact, I found out that Paul Molitor went to the high school right across the street from The Nook! Both of the burgers were delicious and lived up to the juicy name. The burger comes with fries, which were pretty tasty, too. The downstairs has a couple of tables, but it is on the smaller side. We were able to get a table. I did see that people after us had to wait, and you can watch people bowl while you wait, which is pretty neat. The service is a bit on the slower side, but our server was also the bartender, so I understand they did not have a lot of staff available. All in all, this is a fun spot to grab a drink, get a burger, and even do a few rounds of bowling!
Holy Jucy Lucy, this place is promising you an absolute gem of a time. To skip the long wait, I went to the defaced-dollar-covered bar downstairs with a bowling alley that screams "make a memory here". I'm not really the expert on Jucy Lucys but damn was this the place to get them at. Lovely people that treat you like a friend, great beer, and a burger that... for lack of a better term... EXPLODES cheese in your mouth. It was getting to a point where I tried to dissect the patty to see how could they fit that much cheese in there. What really blew me away was the new item: DILL PICKLE CHEESE CURDS. DO NOT SKIP ON THIS! Although it will last about .5 seconds on the table, it will make you remember it for weeks afterwards. This was the place that made me think I could live behind the bowling alley. Fun, casual, cool, friendly... everything the Twin Cities is.
The bar feel hear is very fun. They had stuff from all over with sports, high school photos and many more. I always love a good personality to a place. Although, spacing was a smidge tight, you didn't really feel it once you settled in. Our server was kind and very attentive. We asked a few questions, and they were kind about it. We ended up with dry rub wings, hot cheese curds, and splitting a Homet burger. The burger is what you'd expect, meat between donut halfs, I probably wouldn't get it again. The wings were pretty good. My favorite was the cheese curds, the spicy spin was nice, and it had a decent enough kick for me to not need to add hot sauce.
Best Juicy Lucy in Minnesota! We went with a group of four on a Friday night around 6 and only waited about 20 minutes for a table. While we waited, we checked out the bowling downstairs and grabbed a drink at the lower bar, which made the time fly by. All of us ordered the Joe Maur Juicy Lucy with fries and it was so good. There's also plenty of free street parking, so finding a spot was super easy. The vibe is a fun dive bar feel, and we will definitely be back.
Best Jucy Lucy in the Twin Cities!! I love this place! It's small but really has great history. Came here after brewery hopping for a couple hours, had to cap off the day with a cheese stuffed burger!! Service was quick and friendly. Parking is all on street but plenty available.
On a quest to find the best juicy Lucy in the twin cities, many people recommended this place. Unfortunately this was a very average/below average place for that... There is free street parking, but be careful! About 10 cars go ticketed for parking in the bike lane while we were there! It is safest to park in the surrounding neighborhoods. The wait was about 40 minutes at peak dinner time, so we just sat in the car until it was time. They do take your phone number and contact you when your table is ready. Our server was nice and checked In throughout the dining experience, despite it being so busy! So did a great job! The vibes here are very "hole in the wall" "been around the block" and felt like a slice of history in this area. With it being so busy, try to be respectful and plan no more that 60-70mins here. Not a good place to be a squatter. The food: We got the buffalo wings since they stayed they were award winning. This is a crispy wings and juicy inside and a mild buffalo taste. This is not a saucy wing. It was tasty. The ranch and blue cheese were also tasty with it. The Harris buckin bronco burger was very good! We would happily get that again!! The star of the show was the juicy Lucy. (Nookie) But it fell flat! No seasonings, on a very basic bun and it was very raw inside! I couldn't even eat it! See the pictures for the proof! Overall this was a pretty average experience and I don't know that we will be back anytime soon.
The Nook is easily one of the best burger spots I've been to in Minnesota. The burgers are consistently great, but the honey cheese curds are on another level and honestly a must order. One of the coolest parts about this place is the bowling alley in the basement, which makes it feel like more than just a typical bar and grill. The service has always been great in my experience, with staff that are friendly and on top of everything. I can definitely see why it got featured by Guy Fieri, and it is absolutely worth the visit.
We were seated right away on Sunday evening. Service was alright, but our server seemed to be way more friendly towards the other tables. She did check on us to ensure we had everything we needed and refilled our waters. The root beer float that comes with the Down N Out Burger had the tiniest sliver of vanilla ice cream (forgot to take a photo). Burger was good. My husband wasn't a big fan of the type of cheese for his Juicy Nookie Burger. Very chill vibe inside and next time we'll get the cheese curds. If I recall they have pretty good curds.
Great spot with friendly quick service. Came early and sat quickly, the bar area was filling up for happy hour as we left. Burger was tasty, my cheese filling squirted out and it could have been a little juicier without it but I just dipped and was very happy with my pick! Really tasty crispy fries too.
The best of the best is at the Nook. I had frequented this dive many times for lunch during the day and just went on a Sunday night. The place was hoppin but we were seated within 5 minutes (table for 5). The nook curds (maple glaze and bacon) is unmatched. The service is perfect - friendly and attentive. Street parking is the only option. We just parked one street over. I was happy to see the bowling alley downstairs was alive and well. Congrats on being a delicious place that everyone loves!

I have been circling the Nook for a while now in my search for the best Jucy Lucy in the Twin Cities. I've tried the two originals,Matt's and the 5-8, and the upstart Blue Door, among others, but we may have a winner in The Nook. First off, the atmosphere is exactly what a Nook should be: small and comfortable. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. I noticed that was all the staff not just my server. I also appreciated the obligatory warning about the melted middle of my Lucy. Speaking of which, I tried the #7 Burger (it was recommended when I asked as it had more cheese and bacon). The Burger was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The cheese cheater exploded as a good Lucy should. A 10/10 experience. The hand-cut fried added to the experience and were a great compliment to the burger The beer was cold and refreshing, the food superb, and the staff welcoming. Not much more one can ask for. I will be back that is for sure. read more

Our first meal on our most recent trip to Minnesota: The Nook, promised by some as the best Juicy Lucys in the Twin Cities. We walked in for a pretty late dinner, slightly past 8PM and this place was still crowded. Ten minute wait for a table, the concierge said, but there were free seats at the bar either downstairs or up. We decided to walk down to the bowling alley (a fully functioning, retro alley might I add), and order at the bar. Nook Curds ($13.75) - It's a big basket of battered and fried cheese curds. There's bacon mixed in the batter, giving that smoky and salty, meaty element, and then drizzled honey for some very complementary sweetness. The batter is lightly crisp and the cheese curds inside are completely softened, to the point of being gooey and stretchy. Definitely no squeak here, but these were so delicious that I didn't particularly care. (5/5) Juicy Nookie Burger ($15.95) - Now that's a burger. Huge patty, completely filled with a large pocket of hot, melty, gooey, stretchy American cheese that gushes out while biting through the patty. It's decadent and rich, and that patty - charred so well, giving a robustly smoky charred flavor along with a strong natural beefiness, a result of the patty only being cooked until medium pink. Somehow even with so much cheese stuffed inside, it doesn't leak out at all. It's a pretty simple burger, with just that patty, three pickle rounds on the side, and a bun. The bun is buttered and barely toasted, just enough to give a hint of toastiness and hold up to the massive patty. It cradles the beef like a baby and sucks up all the patty juices and cheese. The burger comes with fresh homemade fries, fried heavily until dark brown, making them similar in both look and taste to my secret craving for Better Made Rainbow Chips, which has a heavily caramelized almost slightly burnt flavor. And yet somehow they aren't over fried in terms of texture. The outside isn't super crisp like commercial battered fries, instead the clear homemade nature leaves some softer areas interspersed with the crunch. The insides, of course, are still perfectly fluffy, and there are little crumbs spread out all along the bottom for an extra crunch. These fries are the height of deliciousness. (5/5) Yes, I've been missing this kind of fatty, unctuous, filling, greasy, rich food after moving away from the Midwest to Seattle. You simply can't get this kind of food anywhere in the PNW. What a great start to our week long trip! Note: The Nook charges a 3% credit card fee that's disclosed on the menu Bathrooms - Larger ones on the bottom floor, probably more upstairs Food: [5/5] Service: [ ] Other: [ ] Final Rating: 5/5 read more

Sat in the basement on New Year's Day for lunch, perfect cozy spot on a freezing MN day! We split the flaming hot cheese curds (sounds weird but they were actually amazing), juicy lucy burger, and chicken wings. The burger is a staple for every time you come here, it's a must try. The cheese in the middle is boiling hot so be careful lol. The wings were just ok, we went with the spicy bbq and I thought they definitely lacked flavor. I'd skip these next time. The service was good! We were frequently checked on and never had to wait too long. With a bowling alley, small arcade, upstairs & downstairs bars, money covered walls, this place is a gem! read more
I've heard great things about The Nook, so my dad and I went there on 11/21/25 around 6pm. The wait was surprisingly fast given it was a Friday night, plus several games were going on their TVs. The service was great, and the food came out in a good amount of time. We ordered the "leprechaun legs" (aka fried green beans, $12) and the Nook curds (drizzled in honey, $13.25). They were both pretty expensive, but made good appetizers. Though, the honey + curds wasn't for me. We both ordered juicy Lucy's, I got the #7 names for Joe Mauer's fav burger which rang up to $17. Now this was a feast. While the fries were under-seasoned, you got so much food. This is not a white-shirt meal, the cheese and sauce will get everywhere. But good burgers come at a sacrifice. I'll definitely go again, I'll just pass on the appetizers. Free off-street parking, but note it's a residential area. read more

Finally checked "Juicy Lucy in Minnesota" off the list, and The Nook nailed it. I've been wanting to try a real Juicy Lucy for years. So when I asked around the Twin Cities where to go, every single person said "The Nook." They weren't wrong. The Lucy here is everything you want it to be. The bun holds up, the beef's seasoned right, and the fries? Crisp and salty The vibe is classic neighborhood joint. Full of regulars and friendly staff who actually seem happy to be there. It's the kind of place that feels like it's been the go to for decades. Also: great weekly deals. read more

How do you describe the nook? It really is a Saint Paul institution. It's a place I've been going to since college, though I won't say how long ago that was. It seems quite small when you walk into it, but don't forget there is sitting downstairs, as well as access to the bowling alley. The alcohol list is sweet and simple consisting of both local and national beers, a few wines, cider and some seltzers. I don't believe they have a liquor license, but that's OK. They have an extensive menu, with a fun variety of appetizer and meal selections. What I really like, however, is their fish fry, which goes to a whole new level during lent. Don't miss out on their excellent happy hour. Many appetizers are nearly half price plus the beers are a little cheaper. The staff is helpful and friendly. It really is a true neighborhood bar. read more
I remember going to The Nook a few years back and thinking they had some really good juicy lucy's. Nowadays, I love a good value meal and the happy hour does not disappoint. I got 3 burger-sized sliders (comes with cheese and pickles/onions if you ask), a large basket of fries and honey bacon cheese curds for $16.50 total for 2 people. And there was still some leftover to take to go. The sliders are scrumptious. The patty itself is on the thin side but still very flavorful. The buns are buttery and soft, and the slider goes down without being too meat heavy. The fries are cripsy and seasoned, maybe a touch too salty if I had to criticize. And the nook curds are a classic: sweet, crispy, and has that nice snap in the curd when you bite through it. Eating all of this will definitely put you in the mood for a nap later. The space is a little tight but gives off that homey chill vibe. They do have a basement area for seating as well and a bowling alley, but the food is where they thrive. The service was standard, nothing blew me away but I had no complaints either. Would come back here again if I have a burger and fries craving for sure. read more
Spot on Juicy Lucy! The food was excellent, the sides (fries and onion rings) were also well prepared and delivered hot and crispy! The beer selection is also very nice and I enjoyed an amazing Downeast carmel apple cider! Arrived on a Sunday afternoon and street parking was a breeze! read more
You've got to try the best Juicy Lucy in Minnesota... your taste buds will thank you. There's a reason this legendary burger has earned so many accolades and widespread recognition. The fries are perfectly seasoned and paired beautifully with the cheesy goodness of the main attraction. The restaurant itself adds to the charm. From the quirky dollar bill decor to the vintage bowling alley vibe, the atmosphere makes the experience even more memorable. Service is friendly and just what you'd expect from a place that knows how to do things right. read more
I go to the Nook just about Everytime I go home! I have been sleeping on the cheese curds... i will never not order them again. They are the BEST! I would recommend getting them with the hot honey. I typically opt for a jucy Lucy type burger. I think if I lived close I would maybe branch out. Let's be real, I haven't found a jucy Lucy in Nashville so the nook hooks me up everytime. read more
I did not know when the menu said "all of our burgers are cooked medium" that I still needed to verbalize that I did not want a raw burger. I was very disappointed with the inside of the burger, especially after waiting so long for it to come out. I can handle a little pink, but this was quite raw. I waited for the server to come around and check on us before mentioning that my burger was quite red and asking if they'd make me a new one. The server told me that "all our burgers are made medium, so do you want a well done burger" it seemed like she was defending the burger and saying it was medium, but she never looked at it. She then proceeded to tell the kitchen, loudly, that someone wanted a well done burger. I was very disappointed in my experience here, and I had high hopes. read more
This was my last meal in Minnesota, after the Twins game. I walked in, and grabbed a seat at the bar. I placed my order for a Juicy Nooky with fries. While waiting for my food, I started a conversation with the guy next to me. Turns out that we have similarities in projects at our jobs. I was at a conference down in Florida for the week, prior to coming up to Minnesota. He attended that same conference years prior in Washington D.C. We had a great conversation while I waited for my food and while eating. How was the burger? Juicy Nooky- This burger was delicious! 2 patties stuffed with cheese. This comes plain on a bun. Keep it simple, right? I let mine simmer for a bit so the cheese didn't burn the hell out of my mouth. When I finally bit in, the cheese was oozing and perfectly warm. It was delicious! The fresh cut fries were great, too! When all is said and done, I think I liked the Nook the best out of the 3 burger places I went to. They had the friendliest customers/staff, and the burger and fries were delicious! Before I left, I went downstairs to check out the bowling alley (Yes, this place has a small bowling alley down in the basement!). It was cool! The ceilings were covered with dollar bills, and there is more seating/another bar down there. Cool spot! Before I left, I exchanged emails with my new friend, and was on my way back to the hotel. Had a great time at the Nook! read more
My daughter was craving for chicken wings after leaving an event in St. Paul, we drove around to look for a family friendly restaurant. I remembered hearing about this restaurant and glad we did before they closed. Old neighborhood restaurant, there's a bowling alley in the basement. We sat at one of the tables and ordered few appetizers. They had their own special dry rub called Minnesota wild dry rub. Chipotle garlic sauce is delicious on the wings. Small restaurant but cozy, bar seats in the front and tables towards the open face kitchen in the back. Mini juicy Lucy sliders were good too, be careful with the cheese in the middle, just give it a few minutes to cool down. read more
My friends and I arrived at 8:00pm on a Saturday night and it was about a 20 minute wait. We were seated downstairs in a booth. The ambiance is fun, you can watch people bowl and they have TV's going with whatever sports team is on. The basement is a little hot, not much airflow. I ordered the Lodge Burger, the chipotle mayo on it was delicious and the burger was cooked perfectly! The fries don't come with salt, they definitely did taste fresh. We had good attentive service. read more

This was part of our Triple D tour. Stopped here late at night and it was packed. We got Guys Big Bite burger, fried green beans and nook cheese curds with honey and bacon. The curds and burger was top notch delicious! Fried green beans were slightly over fried and the service was a little licking due to all the staff watching a big game on tv. I've come to The Nook twice now in the last two weeks, that's just how good the food is. When walking inside the restaurant, the upstairs has a unique dining feel, but the really cool part is downstairs where there's a bowling alley and a fun sitting area. I've tried two kinds of cheese curds on the menu, the hot honey and the spicy Cajun, and they're both really good. I've also had two of the burgers so far, the triple decker and the Guy Fieri special. This place also claims they invented the Juicy Lucy, though that's something a lot of spots in Minnesota say. As far as what to order, I actually recommend sticking with the regular burgers instead of the cheese stuffed ones. They can be a bit tricky to eat, and the cheese can either be super hot or just lukewarm. The regular burgers have a lot of unique flavors and are definitely worth trying. The staff is really nice and gave us great recommendations both times I visited. I plan on going again to check out the Wednesday and Thursday specials, and I still want to come back to try bowling. If you're in Saint Paul, definitely check this place out. It's really good. read more

I wanted to try Juicy Lucy again, so I tried The Nook! The place is very small, but has a good amount of seating. The staff are friendly and there is only street parking but there was plenty of parking when I went. The only thing I would say I was disappointed on was the fries. Unfortunately for me it was a bit bland and soggy. I usually like a crunchier, salty flavor. The burger itself was delicious. I wasn't blown away by it but it was still a good burger! I got the #7 burger which was stuffed juicy nookie, topped with bacon, tomato, smoked cheddar and chipotle mayo. Overall, Juicy Lucy is pretty food, but I'd still like to try other places in the Twin Cities! read more
Great burgers in a tiny space! Make sure you either get there early, or come prepared to wait for a spot to sit if you get there during any normal meal time. The staff is kind and friendly, and the menu is quite extensive with plenty of burger options, both stuffed or regular with tasty toppings. The fries are hand cut and delicious. There's a reason they were on diners, drive-ins and dives - it's delicious! read more

What's the best burger?
Most people pick one of the Juicy Lucy options, but my favorite has always been the Matt Burke. Double burger with pepper jack cheese.
Is there a late night happy hour?
I have no idea as bf and I were in only for the weekend but I'm thinking probably since the business has blown up since their double appearance on triple d. I will tell that they only serve beer and wine.
