Winter was getting to me, my car was trapped, so I said "I give up" and trudged through the snow to the nearest pub. The service was great because we were pretty much the only people there! The lady at the bar told us to come back later when they were hosting karaoke! Perfectly divey ambiance and was good for a quick drink to brighten my mood. It's close to the local bakery too if you want to pop over for some sweets! I do have to note there was a small mural of Trump along with a few other celebrities on the wall. Bunch of old guys bellied up at the bar drinking domestic beers or whiskey. No kitchen but there is a vending machine as well as Heggies Pizza. Pool tables and darts to the side. I met with a friend for some drinks and had a nice time. The bartender was super friendly and engaged in our conversation. I ordered 3 drinks and my friend had 2. The main room (aka Mattson Room) has a great wood dance floor and you'll see things happening here in the afternoon (line dancing, square dancing, etc) and then bands rocking out in the evening. The 2nd room, is the medium size room. Here too I've seen all sorts of great bands play and it too has room to throw down your dance moves or just rock out. The 3rd room. Wow. This room is tiny and it is where the metal bands play. It is loud and it'll melt your face. They also offer food and drinks are way cheap. We'll come here to watch Vikings games. They have both a kitchen that offers salads and burgers, and the traditional bar frozen pizza. You're not getting a Heggies here but you will get a Jakeeno's. In the Twin Cities, this is the only place I know serving up this variety. You need a place to watch a Vikes game or the Wild? This is the place. Drink specials during Vikes games too!

Myself and my date was a witness to his behavior that sprung out of control! He was getting too fresh with my Sister that kept pushing his hands away! He kept using cuss words! And yelling where's that bartender? And I would say to him if you want a drink? Go to the bar yourself these two bartenders have been working so hard in this heat all day long!! Well he didn't like that and started screaming at me! I then told the man that it's not the bartenders job to come to the table .. It's his responsibility to go ask for his own drink of choice, He grew more angry at me for no reason then he got our bartender Joy involved and was making things up that I had never said? I don't even know this man.. My Sister was just texting with him for a couple months on some date site.. And asked him if he wanted to meet her.. He came to the bar and seemed really hyper.. My Sister.. my date and I were still very respectful and nice to the man until he sprung out of control, And because all of that took place my Sister, date and I were asked to leave because Joy the bartender didn't want any more loudness.. We respected that and I was about to go get my Sister and date and let them know that we have to leave the bar .. and just when I was about to go get my Sister at our table... That man came back to see my Sister at the table! I thought that security asked him to leave? But he came back to to try to talk to my Sister.. When that man had walked away from the table he came right up to me real close and looked like he was very angry.. When you arrive there Mudd Room is painted on the east side of the building above a small four space parking lot. Fear not; you can park on the west side of the building, also an overflow lot right there as well, a few spaces on the street in the front or across the street from there is designated parking. I entered through the west side of the building that noted Lucky's, fear not, when I entered and told the host I was looking for the Mudd Room she gave me precise directions to get downstairs! Once downstairs I came upon the nice single toilet ladies room. I proceeded in to the bar, asked the blonde bartender where the music would be? She pointed to the stage @ the end of the bar and said it could be loud right by the speaker so she'd recommend sitting a few tables away. She said the parties near the stage were tabbing out if I wanted to sit there? I said I would take a seat @ the end until they were through. Shortly after I sat down the very friendly brunette server brought me a glass of ice water... thanks! She remained attentive all night, filling my water three times. Despite not looking over the menu she was very thoughtful when she popped by just to say it was last call for the kitchen, did I want anything? I meant to get the gals names, I did not, sorry. Music wasn't too loud; the acoustics and lighting were great since the speakeasy is already dimly lit. I don't anticipate this was my last visit; very much looking forward to catching another gig here or meeting friends for drinks! The friendly and attentive service are my number one fast and hard rule for a venue... no matter how good or bad the drinks or food are.... they 90% determine if I will return. There is a separate food vendor on site (wings were good, as well as the unusual fries). Bar service at the bar, no wait staff tonight. It may have its shortcomings (cold bathrooms, messy floors) but you can't beat it for a music venue!
