It always surprises me how many places that I love going to, I have not reviewed. And this is one of these places. I love coming here for music. They have three rooms where things happen. The main room (aka Mattson Room) has a great wood dance floor and you'll see things happening here in the afternoon (line dancing, square dancing, etc) and then bands rocking out in the evening. The 2nd room, is the medium size room. Here too I've seen all sorts of great bands play and it too has room to throw down your dance moves or just rock out. The 3rd room. Wow. This room is tiny and it is where the metal bands play. It is loud and it'll melt your face. They also offer food and drinks are way cheap. We'll come here to watch Vikings games. They have both a kitchen that offers salads and burgers, and the traditional bar frozen pizza. You're not getting a Heggies here but you will get a Jakeeno's. In the Twin Cities, this is the only place I know serving up this variety. You need a place to watch a Vikes game or the Wild? This is the place. Drink specials during Vikes games too! read more

First I want to shout out to the very sweet Bingo lady! And the very nice and helpful Karaoke girl.. These two women made our night really FUN! Now for that sad part of this... I came there with my Sister that is legally blind And has to speak louder because she's hearing impaired.. And my Sister met a man there later whom she has never met before, that ended up a very rude and quite loud and obnoxious person when he kept drinking alcohol! Myself and my date was a witness to his behavior that sprung out of control! He was getting too fresh with my Sister that kept pushing his hands away! He kept using cuss words! And yelling where's that bartender? And I would say to him if you want a drink? Go to the bar yourself these two bartenders have been working so hard in this heat all day long!! Well he didn't like that and started screaming at me! I then told the man that it's not the bartenders job to come to the table .. It's his responsibility to go ask for his own drink of choice, He grew more angry at me for no reason then he got our bartender Joy involved and was making things up that I had never said? I don't even know this man.. My Sister was just texting with him for a couple months on some date site.. And asked him if he wanted to meet her.. He came to the bar and seemed really hyper.. My Sister.. my date and I were still very respectful and nice to the man until he sprung out of control, And because all of that took place my Sister, date and I were asked to leave because Joy the bartender didn't want any more loudness.. We respected that and I was about to go get my Sister and date and let them know that we have to leave the bar .. and just when I was about to go get my Sister at our table... That man came back to see my Sister at the table! I thought that security asked him to leave? But he came back to to try to talk to my Sister.. I wasn't at the table so I didn't hear what he had said, Neither did my Sister or my date because he was screaming! When that man had walked away from the table he came right up to me real close and looked like he was very angry.. I didn't say anything and I went to our table and took my Sister by the hand and walked out the door.. I can't believe the man that started the feud wasn't asked to leave also? It was a very sad and shocking night for my Sister, My Date and I .. We never have been treated so disrespectfully ever at any place of business!! read more

Bingo night on Thursdays is the bomb. So fun! Recently changed their menu. Our group tried a variety of burgers, and the chicken strip basket. They were good! Definitely get the onion rings and NOT the waffle fries. Parking on street or in lot in back. Great service by our waiter. He was so attentive even while we were playing bingo. Ambiance includes a lot of old photos, a stuffed eagle and remembrances for the armed forces who served our country. Will definitely come back! read more

Met friends last night to see The Haws gig. I liked that the music was in another room, not just in the bar. The acoustics were really good... I even busted out my earplugs. It was a reasonable...maybe even too cheap $10 to see acts. Two of which I'd never seen but enjoyed am now a fan. The bangs wee Speedbilly, The DagNabits and The Haws. The room looks pre-set up for receptions with the hanging tulle and lights. There are numerous ceiling fans and I noticed the Nest on the wall... the room was a comfortable 71/70 all night. Parking was easy with a private lot out back. I noticed a small patio back there when I left too. Thanks Eagles for also having a server running drinks in all night, so we wouldn't have to leave the shows to go out for a drink. I liked that there was seating all around the walls of the venue so people weren't all lumped together, thanks. We all had a lot of fun. Before the shows we sat in a comfortable booth out by the bar. My happy place, zen space. Best place for beer and bingo in MInneapolis on Saturday afternoons. I come sweaty after hot yoga. Come early if you're planning on bingo-ing, seats fill up quickly. Also, know if you arrive too late, as is customary in bingo land, you won't be eligible for the coverall. The food is good here, as are the Bloody Marys! Discounted bloodies on the weekend with a breakfast order. Come on in, it's warm inside. read more

The seating was comfortable. The waitress was professional and attentive. I ordered a drink and a grilled Ham and Swiss sandwich. The drink was good and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend this Eagles/American Legion establishment. I live 12 miles away, so if I go back it will be for the food! read more

Pretty cool place! There are actually three rooms for events (music and otherwise). I went to a concert there and it was in the room right at the entrance. There was a nice stage, seating around the perimeter and lots of dance floor space. This reminded me if all the years I spent as a kud going to polka gigs with my grandpa. He had a band and played in places like this. Big wood floor for dancing on. Sound was good and i didn't hear music coming from the other rooms which was great. The bathroom was clean for a busy nite. They are way understaffed at the bar for the level of people there. Long wait to get drinks when events are underway. I didn't eat but the food prices looked really cheap. My guy says the food is great though. Ok selection of beers. No selection on ciders. Prices on drinks are standard for a saturday night. Would like to get back there to try the food. read more

The Eagle's Club has stepped up and joined the Big League. They offer Live! Big Band Music w/Swing Dancing. The last I was there it was awesome. They had a Big Band...Jazz Finest. Once, the word is out. They hope to bring Big Band Dance Music to Minneapolis for a change. My Dance Partner and I danced 2 hours and got plenty of exercise. You should try it. This place is f*ing awesome. The Eagles are a fraternal organization, and fraternal organizations are increasingly the purview of senior citizens, so expect to see old people dancing or old people playing cards in the various rooms of this facility. That's what I like in a place like this, though, lots of old people. It's a nice-looking old-school bar that gets busy and noisy on bingo nights. Drinks are cheap, although they charge for refills on soda, so beware. Nice bathrooms. read more

This place is really quite cool. It's one of those places you'd never, ever know about unless you went out and actually explored the neighborhood to find it - which I did. I had no idea what the Eagle's Aerie was until I stumbled upon this place with my boyfriend and had my interest piqued enough to walk in. I will say, this is no place for beer snobs, foodies or trendy hipsters. Unless, of course, you're the kind of hipster who enjoys going to the VFW to sing karaoke with vets, but that's another story. This is more of a place for you to sit, chat, maybe meet some older folks who could tell you a whole lot about life, have a cheap drink and enjoy the game on television (or people watch). When I went in, there was a live band playing some sort of big band music and people young and old gathered into the dance hall to swing around and have a great time. I didn't have the $5 to pay the admission fee, but if I'd had it, I would have gone right the heck in and danced my pants off. It's truly the local's bar. read more

Went there on an early Saturday evening. Did not expect a cover charge at 5:00 pm but got one because they had 2 bands instead of one. The wife of one of the band members was in our party and even she was surprised. The bands were good and it was entertaining watching the few really good dancers. So our surprise cover was pretty much worth it. Food and beverage was another story. I've heard this place has pretty good food but everyone in our party that ordered had a complaint. I ordered an expensive diet coke that was absolutely rancid they were using VERY OLD STALE syrup in their fountain. Service was non-existent, people waited literally hours for their orders. They have a loyal clientele that comes to dance to the live music. If you want to do that, this is a good place. Otherwise don't bother with this dump it is not a good value in any way!!!! read more

This is about the only bar in Minneapolis where it's easy to completely avoid pretentious hipsters and overbearingly pretentious, self-absorbed people in general. There are 2 different rooms with live bands playing much of the time and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting without the usual anal retentive Minnesota stuffiness. Most people under age 45 are not going to be able to appreciate what this bar has to offer. There is nothing flashy or technologically advanced about it and reviews referencing its throwback feel are absolutely correct. If you're burned out on Minnesota's vacuous and self-absorbed narcissism, this is a great place to completely avoid it. read more
