I am giving four stars and I want so bad to give five stars. The food was probably about an eight. my girlfriend had tomato basil soup and it reminded her of marinara sauce. It did taste good but a little on the thick side, I love the hand cut fresh french fries;however, a little overdone and they were too salty, but that should be a remedied as I informed the server they were way too salty and I don't even like salt on my fresh cut fries. Also, the burger was really good. It was seasoned a little heavy. I will come back for sure.

Good happy hour beer prices. $4.50 for taps. I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich. It had a tangy sweet taste that I didn't like.

Cheeseburger and fries. It is a smashed burger

They have a credit service charge, which I didn't see psted anywhere or on the menu but not surprised. The server was very nice, though busy as she was doing the bar and tables. The turkey parmesan was the star of the two sandwiches, though towards the end, he admitted it was too much american cheese. My burger was a thin smashed burger type, so it was dry and more bun than meat. The fries were fine they had a coated season type. The bathroons were not great at all, at least the ones I went to on the main bar side. Noticed after that there was another set on the other side of the bar, those maybe better.

This is the spot! Excellent burgers, great size and flavor at fair prices. Kind, attentive servers & bartenders. Pull tabs, TVs with the game, good tunes on the jukebox, chill vibes and bocce ball in the basement. What more could you ask for?! Belly up to the bar like a man for the best experience. Order the Paddy Shack burger with an extra patty for the win!

Half Time Rec I used to dance here years ago when the left side was given over to Cajun and square dance. Everyone brought their own water, so the bar side didn't make much from us. Eventually it was turned into an Irish-flavored pub that served some Gaelic-style food (like actually yummy mushy peas). The Irish flavors are as gone as the dance floor. My sister and I both tried burgers. Hers, a special of the day was a bacon cheeseburger which she enjoyed. Mine was a California Burger. The meat was well cooked, a little rare as it should be, with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and a small slice of tomato. Inexpensive eats, nothing dazzling, just good plain food.

Solid "dive" bar! Food is good for any appetite, and some cinematic history to go with it. "Grumpy Old Men" is a classic and forgotten Christmas movie, filmed here as "Slippery's Tavern"

Food was ehh service even less so. Steak and cheese was just that steak and cheese nothing else. Menu stated it was the special for the day but was charged full price. Bartenders were not that friendly and they were very slow so didnt even bother to mention it. They have bocce ball downstairs in the basement. Was fun but its very cold dirty and not level at all. But is a plus to have something to do

I came in to enjoy some live music with a couple of amazing local bands, and I am absolutely sold. Highlights include: tons of street parking nearby, superior selection of drinks (more on this later), and awesome people. Everyone, from the folks behind the bar to the other patrons, was ultra welcoming. I'm pretty sure this is the neighborhood Cheers. Seriously--amazing vibes, and it's great for solo people. (I realize that might be ambiguous, so what I mean by "great for solo people" is that you won't feel uncomfortable coming here alone. It's easy to chat with people if you want to; it's easy to just enjoy the music if you want to.) Okay, I know you want to hear about the drinks. They have a great selection of beer on tap. They have tons of cocktails, including a selection of barrel-finished cocktails. Not drinking tonight? They have plenty of THC and even a CBD-only option (winning!), along with some non-altering choices that include switchel(!). There's a huge outdoor patio with fire pits that I will probably check out next time. Anyway, this is a great spot!

The inside of the bar is pretty small and felt a bit cramped, especially with how busy it was on a Sunday. They do have a back patio that is fairly large, which I appreciated, but during the day it did not feel very inviting. Without lighting or much going on, it came off a bit plain. As for drinks, I tried a non alcoholic half and half with lemonade and iced tea, which I actually really liked. I also had a mojito style cocktail that was not my favorite and tasted a bit too strong for me. The overall vibe just was not really my thing, but I could see it being more fun at night or with a bigger group.

Once we walked into the bar we could tell immediately this was a local dive bar for the surrounding area. To paint a picture most of the people who were at the bar at 3pm on a Sunday were an older crowd (50+), one lady was wearing a shirt which was dress-length with a cat plastered on the front, and in the corner, to my delight, there were various arcade games which cost $1 to play. I'd definitely recommend this bar if you're looking to escape the surrounding summer heat after a wedding and get $3 beers. The bar offers cheap beers on tap and arcade games in the corner which you can entertain yourself with. There's a jukebox which also doubles as a free photo booth (we may or may not have taken multiple free photos). Since we were a wedding party of men in suits and women in cocktail dresses we definitely got a lot of side eye from the local crowd (also probably due to our poor decisions to play a few Nickelback songs on the jukebox) but since we were in a large group we had a blast!

I was pumped when my upcoming wedding band Clean Plate Club (CPC) got to open here which is my reason for visiting. I'm not much of a concert girly so this was a big step for me. There is a tiny parking lot in the back, otherwise, a few blocks down in the residential streets there is complimentary parking - just ensure you follow the sign rules as it goes by odd and even sides based on the date. To lead with parking confusion is why I'm giving this venue 4 stars. Walking as a single woman for a night show by University is not something I would ever suggest unless you have a buddy with. For this venue, I would recommend the buddy system or Uber. The venue has a normal bouncer, ID check and tickets can be purchased in advance via the AXS app or onsite. Once inside, the venue is breathable and long. The stage sits at the opposite side of entry and there is a long bar on the side wall, a few tables in the back, and then standing room for most concerts. My friend and I ordered a drink from the bar and then weaseled our way to the front to support CPC. The sound, lighting and stage was the best! We had a great time. Looks like there is a basement here (I never visited it) and that food is served. Also can't speak for this but something to look into. Thanks, Turf Club!!

Monday Night Soul: The Unfiltered Rhythm of Bogey's If the…read morenearby Lucky 13 is a study in suburban polish, Bogey's Bar--located just down the street--is its soulful, unvarnished counterpoint. It is the kind of local joint that doesn't bother with the "bartender's handshake"; you won't find a bottle of Fernet behind this bar. Instead, Bogey's offers something far more visceral: a room that breathes with the collective energy of a great local crowd and the heavy, rhythmic pulse of live music on a Monday night 6-11pm when most of the world is quiet. To find live music on a Monday is a rarity; to find it played with such bluesy, evocative conviction is a genuine gift. The fact that this high-caliber entertainment is provided free of charge is perhaps the establishment's greatest virtue. The music transforms the space, lifting it from a standard neighborhood taproom into a temporary sanctuary for the weary and the soulful. The culinary philosophy here is refreshingly utilitarian, leaning into the nostalgia of the American Midwest. On Mondays, the kitchen turns out a Sloppy Joe and potato salad special that serves as the ultimate comfort-food anchor. It is a messy, honest, and deeply satisfying meal that pairs perfectly with the low-stakes drama of the games playing on the televisions scattered throughout the room. For those seeking a breath of fresh air, the outdoor patio provides a prime vantage point during the warmer months, allowing the music to drift out into the Mendota Heights evening. It is a space designed for conversation and community, lacking any of the pretension found in more curated venues. Bogey's is a testament to the power of the "local joint." It doesn't need the secret handshakes or the herbal elixirs of the old world. It wins on the strength of its bluesy tunes, its Monday night specials, and a crowd that knows exactly where to find the heart of the neighborhood. If this dispatch from the Mendota Heights bar scene offered a helpful roadmap for your next Monday night, please leave a like or comment below so I can continue writing these reviews for your education and enjoyment.
