The food at Emmett's is pretty good. We ordered scotch eggs ($21, 2 eggs) and the salmon and goat cheese salad ($22). The salad was amazing. The scotch eggs were pretty heavy and can definitely be shared between 2-4 people. Our server was friendly but not super attentive and we had to ask for the check. Overall rating: 8/10

Travel for business. Try to stay away from chain restaurants, without putting myself in uncomfortable part of town Emmett's fits the bill and checks the boxes Authentic Irish enough to satisfy my wants, but well maintained and " upscale " enough for my dinner companions , or as I like to measure with, "would I bring my wife here" Very busy for a Tuesday then I realized it was trivia night. Lots of participation. PA speaker could be turned down a notch. Some variations on Irish meals that were unexpected, but not disappointing. Having consumed too much weekly travels, I am truly disappointed and not being able to sample some of the amazing whiskeys on the two page selection. Our server was fun And attentive

I went to Emmett's for the first time for dinner and it was a lovely experience! I had the public house burger which was quite good, the whisky jam being a surprisingly good addition. We also had the cheese curds and egg rolls to start. The egg rolls weren't my favorite but I enjoyed the cheese curds. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall it has a charming, high end Irish pub feel, with great seating options

Scotch Eggs appetizer, bowl of Crab Chowder.

The crab soup was fantastic--the bowl is huge. It is a SOUP, not a chowder as listed on the menu (chowders have chunks--usually potatoes; this soup was smooth except for tiny bits if crab meat). The soup was a good value for $9. The Scotch eggs (appetizer) were confusing at best. I LOVE Scotch eggs, but I did not like these in the least: the sausage coating was paper thin and had zero flavor. I don't know what kind of soup/sauce the halves of eggs were floating in (the sauce was an inch deep!?), but it was unnecessary and did not taste good (pasty/grainy cheese? Like a rarebit??) It also made the crumb coating on the eggs soggy, as they were pretty much submerged in it. (If the cook felt the need to have a sauce under the eggs, do a SMALL AMOUNT of something thick, preferably sticking to a traditional hot mustard!) I was also perplexed as to why the egg halves were COVERED with bacon? Normally I LOVE bacon--but this was dry/tough and mostly flavorless bacon (almost no smoke), and all it provided was distraction and confusion. Two Scotch eggs/4 halves in a plate of weird "soup", with two huge pieces of dry toast, which served no purpose, were $21--double the price they should have been. i was there shortly after opening on a weekday; there were a few people sitting in the bar, including a couple having food...I was seated in the dining room, and then promptly ignored by the server. I was ready to order right away, but she left. I had my credit card out and visible on the table when she (finally) dropped the check off after I waved her down--again, she rushed off before I could even hand it to her (I don't know what she was "so busy" doing? like I said, there were only a few customers). I seriously considered putting on my coat and walking up to the bar to pay when she finally reappeared. The crab soup was great, but I honestly don't know if I will ever return to have it again, as the rest of my experience was not good.

"Irish Breakfast", served on weekend mornings.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

But as the new owners have taken over, things shifted. Generally it was fine but in the last couple months things have gone downhill. The last straw was when I went in for a single drink with a friend, early in the evening and when we got our tabs, we filled out our receipts and left our tips and went on with our evening. The next morning, I was called by my bank about a suspicious tip amount that I had recently left (aka the evening before). These cheapskate cheaters and thieves working at the bar had changed my tip amount egregiously. On one single pint, I think I paid $7/$8? And my tip amount was over $30 making my one beer almost $40. If that is what tappers has become, it is no longer that quaint and unique neighborhood dive bar that Chris and Steve had bought back in the early 2010s. The icing on the top was that one of the owners was actually our bar tender that evening. Slimey and shady and when we called to inquire, we were hung up on. Let this place go back to the dogs. At least the drunks and townies that used to call Tappers their neighborhood pub weren't stiffing the customers.
