**Great local restaurant in the St. Anthony/New Brighton area!** If you haven't tried the Hot Honey Pepperoni Flatbread, you're missing out. The service has always been exceptional, and the classy décor creates an upscale dining experience at an affordable price point, which can be hard to find these days. This has become my team's and my favorite happy hour spots. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be offering more happy hour specials and extending the happy hour hours. Overall, I've had consistently great experiences here, with the only dish that didn't quite meet my expectations being the beef stew. Highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

Really good!! The hamburger for BURGER WEEK was excellent. Onion bun and bacon jam. Only complaint is the sun!!! We loved sitting outside but there was no shade. The umbrellas are small and do not bend. Change that and it'd be a five star for sure Server dud a great job.. read more

Great find in the north suburbs of Minneapolis! This spot has a nice atmosphere, friendly service, and a great variety of options on the menu. I appreciated that they were willing to substitute grilled shrimp for the fried shrimp in the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl -- and it was a delicious choice! I'd definitely order it again. My guy tried the Crab Rangoon Flatbread, and while it was a fun concept, we both felt the flavors could have been a little bolder. Overall, a great place to check out with plenty of options to please different tastes. read more

Grabbed a cocktail at the bar and service was friendly. The Tigers Eye cocktail was delicious! It was tart and creamy, and not too strong. There's plenty of seating inside with stools at the bar, tables, and booths. There is free parking available in the mall area as well. I'll have to make another visit to try the food! read more

The parking lot isn't ideal, but finding a spot was surprisingly painless. I loved the ambiance--it felt elevated and bougie without being pretentious. The shrimp bowl was delicious and very reasonably priced. Service was solid, though not particularly remarkable. Overall, it's a fun spot and I'm glad I tried it. I wouldn't be racing back, but I'd happily enjoy another visit. read more

Another visit here with coworkers after a long, boring 5- hour seminar on a cold Sat morning in February. They must change the menu because we were here last year (Feb 2025) and not much on the menu appealed to me. But this year they were lots of things I wanted to try. I'm late in posting my review. But I do remember that I split entrees with another. We split the BBQ Brisket Melt and the Oklahoma Smashburger. We both prefer the BBQ Melt over the burger. It had more flavor and texture. It's always good food and service. And I'm sure we'll go again next year after our Annual Seminar. read more

I went with a friend on a Monday night at 5 pm and we were able to get right in. We were sat at a booth along the windows, and the sun felt amazing. If you don't like sitting in the sun , consider asking for a table instead or away from the windows. Food 5/5: we got the brussels sprouts and shrimp bowl. I loved the maple sauce with the goat cheese on the sprouts! It's definitely different than the soy type sauces other places are doing, and brought the perfect salty sweet combination. The shrimp bowl is my go to here, and was great. The sauce with the shrimp, avocado, veggies and rice is a great balance of flavor. Service 5/5: our server was very attentive and the food came quickly. Ambiance 5/5: this place has an upscale cozy vibe. It is on the smaller side, so tables are somewhat close, but not too close. Note the credit card charge. read more

We were in the area and decided to check this place out. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and the service was good. They have a nice happy hour menu and also daily specials. I really liked the cheese curds, and I enjoyed the steak salad, although the steak itself was just ok. The smash burger was also very good; nicely toasted bread and thin beef patty. I recommend this place and plan to come back! read more

We were in the area for a lacrosse tournament and had a large group of 35. The first place we went made it seem like we were a nuisance even though we called well before our arrival. We called around to see if someone else would be able to take us and Steele & Hops was amazing! They had waters and menus out when we arrived and the service was amazing! read more

I've been here a handful of times and have enjoyed the food and the overall experience each time. My favorite thing has to be the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl, it's just flavorful and consistent. The Thai Peanut Bowl is a favorite of a friend. Unfortunately cheese curds are meh, as every time we've gotten them the cheese is only warm. This might have to do with them being served on a metal tray that's just a bit too big for what you get. However the blueberry ketchup is delicious! Don't sleep on their daily specials! I've gotten the Tuesday tacos and they are quite a bang for your buck. Service is always good and the vibe is chill and comfortable. read more

I hate to rate this spot so low. I've been here multiple times and the patio is lovely, the place is always packed with happy customers, and service is always fine. The food is just 3 star food. The goat cheese toast is raved about in other reviews but it was unpleasant to eat. Literally toast from the grocery store with dried out, baked on goat cheese lumps, pesto dried out and dry craisins and maybe nuts? $15 for toast. The dynamite shrimp bowl was fine, not great. Almost $20, no thanks. Everything here to me is fine, not great. And pricey. Finally the 3rd time, I got the pickle burger but swapped it for an impossible patty in it which was nice and got rid of the bacon. The sauces were delicious on it, good tasting bun. The fried pickles were old and soggy on the burger already and the impossible patty tasted a little bitter but overall, this was the best thing I've had here and it was fairly priced for $15 with fries. The fries were excellent with sea salt on them. read more

The vibe here is of a craft beer haven with a menu that had a lot of tasty looking food! Everything I contemplated looked absolutely fantastic...it was difficult to choose. I got the smoked turkey sandwich with broccoli slaw. The turkey is smoked in house and was delish! (Although I did expect more turkey in the sandwich; the ratio of lettuce to meat was off). The bar area is especially picturesque. This is a bit far from me, but the food and beverage scene was so good, I'd consider making an effort to make a return visit. Edited review to add: I just noticed this place has a 3% surcharge for paying with a credit card; I hate this (especially with menu prices this high) and I'm removing a star for this. read more

The zucchini blossoms were very good. I will definitely try to copy this recipe at home, or just go back for more! The only unfortunate part of our visit is they ran out of hamburger. My husband wasn't very thrilled as that's why we went to try that restaurant out. I had the steak salad, and my husband and son decided to eat the coconut curry instead. They both said it was pretty good. My steak salad was done perfectly, and I had plenty for leftovers later. We definitely want to go back for burgers in the future. read more

I left pretty disappointed. The biggest issue was the noise level--it was so loud that it was difficult to have a normal conversation without raising your voice. If you're looking for a relaxed dinner, this probably isn't the place. The food was also underwhelming. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing stood out either, especially considering the prices. It felt like paying premium restaurant prices for food that's comparable to what you'd expect from a chain restaurant like Applebee's or Chili's. Overall, Steele & Hops seems to charge for a higher-end experience, but the food and atmosphere didn't justify the cost for me. There are better local options if you're looking for quality and value. read more

This place never disappoints and this time we stopped in for brunch. The patio in the back was bustling, and our server tried her best. The bottleneck was at the bar; everything else was very quick. Our server went over the menu and gave us her recommendations. The bacon was rich and smoky with a hint of maple. The biscuits had a crisp outer flaky layer with a soft, fluffy inner layer. When combined with the creamy sauce, they formed a perfect synergy. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside giving the right level of crunch.. The Belini, even though it took 38 minutes to be prepared, was very good. 38 minutes good no but good yes. read more

Its a cute place thats close to me since i live in New brighton. Service was fast and the server made sure we had refills before we even got done woth our drinks. The food was good as well! Smoked Wings were amazing. We got them with the cajun rub which was great! Berries & Brie Salad - This was fantastic as well, I could have this with every meal. Ribeye - I asked for Medium and it was more on the Medium well side, but very flavorful. Fiesta Bowl - This was disappointing, because the chips were stale, and the chicken was so dry. Couldve been good wothout it. read more

The chicken wings were delicious. The restaurant was very cute and well lit. It was decorated well. The atmosphere is very intimate. The service was sufficient. It did take us a little longer to finally get our bill from our server. The bugolgi bowl was alright. It was overly sauced though so the rice was hard to eat. The burger was delicious. My boyfriend eats here regularly and it was my first time. I definitely will be trying the chicken and wild rice soup on my next visit read more

I love having such a nice place in our area . I've had a couple negative situations at this restaurant & several good ones too....I really think it's a culture problem where the manager and staff are more concerned with closing and cleaning to close at 10 pm..I had another situation over labor day where we were turned away an hour before closing As the manager wanted to close early..I made the mistake of recommending this place for a 7 pm Sunday get together with 2 coworkers.. Max was bartendering and I wanted to sit at the bar tables to give him the business for dinner and drinks.. He typically is a really good bartender. We came in at 715 pm Sunday.. It was a Rocky start with food but I can live with that.. It was more the continuous cleaning going on around us..Bar stools being put up for closing during the entire experience,..I was totally embarrassed when the lights of the restaurant and bar went on bright at 906pm like you see at closing time..Ok got the message..We were pretty neglected with empty drink glasses left & no check ins.. I had to grab the manager to tell her about my cold food.... my entree was delivered with hard rice in the bowel & cold shrimp.. When I returned my entree it took 30 mins to get a pot pie..I was actually going to cancel it but it finally came out 30 mins later.. The manager brought it out and explained it just came out of the oven.. That was totally impossible as the pot pie was Luke warm at best.. The Bill was 200.00 before tip plus I bought a 35.00 drink round .. It's a rough economy & think owners should be aware of my experience.. read more

My friends and I chose this place for our dinner date. We had reservations on a Saturday night which was great idea, it was pretty busy in there. We got seated right away and drink orders were taken. We had a great server. To start off we got the cheese curds with the Blueberry ketchup. The sweet and the salty was a perfect combo. It's a must try. For entrées one of my friend's and I got the Birria Ramen bowl and my other friend ended up getting a Pepperoni Flatbread. The Ramen had tons of flavor, the only downfall was it was a little bit on the salty side. Flavor wise it was a flavor bomb. The Flatbread looked delicious and my friend enjoyed it. I got the Pumpkin bread pudding to go and I devoured some of it as soon as I got home. We had a great experience and will definitely be back. read more

My third time, and I'm still a fan. It's a nice establishment, with ample seating in the bar and dining areas. That said, if you can, plan ahead and make a reservation to be safe. As for service, I've interacted with employees who are warm and welcoming, and with those who were cold and seemed bothered by your presence. Thankfully the latter has yet to ruin my experience! Also, despite how busy it's been during my visits, the food and drinks have come out in a timely fashion. The cajun dry rub wings are my favorite, but the second time I got them... the blue cheese was flavorless. The birria egg rolls were tasty; filled with beef and cheese. However, the consume was bland and too watery. A dish I've enjoyed in the past was the goat cheese toast appetizer. It has walnuts and cranberries which all go so well together. This is definitely a spot that I've recommended to others. read more

This place was a great spot for our weekly date night! The spot was trendy and cozy. The food and cocktails were amazing. My husband had the Pork Belly Burger - sticky pork belly, spicy mayo, pepper jack, jalapeno jam, lettuce. It was an unusual combination, but full of flavor and absolutely delicious! I've been meaning to check this place out for a while and finally had the chance. We started with the goat cheese toast from the small plates menu. It was DELICIOUS. 4 good sized triangles to share with a table. Tablemate also had an Old Fashioned they said was good. For our main we split the smoked turkey sandwich. It seemed like a pretty boring selection, but the sandwich was very tasty. I am not a fan of "coated" fries, but these were fantastic - thick and potatoey. Our server seemed a little cranky and I think I would have liked to see a few more options on the menu (especially the sandwich selections). We were there on a Friday and the special was "chef's special" so maybe other days would offer something else. Overall a nice place. I look forward to trying again! read more

Great spot for a team happy hour! We brought our team here for happy hour and had an awesome experience at Steele & Hops. The patio was a perfect spot to unwind--plenty of space, great atmosphere, and ideal for a casual team hangout. We kicked things off with a round of drinks, including the Queen of Hearts and Lady Marmalade--both were fantastic! Really well-balanced cocktails with great flavor. For food, we ordered a spread: Cajun dry rub wings, buffalo wings, zucchini blossoms, and a few other small bites. The standout was definitely the Cajun dry rub wings--perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat and flavor. The zucchini blossoms weren't my favorite (the texture just didn't work for me), but I appreciated the creativity of the dish. Shoutout to our waiter, who was super attentive and kept everything running smoothly, even with a big group. Service was on point the entire time. Highly recommend for a casual get-together or after-work drinks. We'll definitely be back! read more

I've been before and I liked my food and experience but thought it was overpriced. This last visit I stand by that but I'd say my server on the patio made it even worse for me...I even told him what was wrong with my meal to which he said "oh that's my fault you told me that" - yes. Yes I did. So it's his job to fix it. Besides the wait staff the patio area is so cute and you can't even tell that you're practically in the Cub Foods parking lot, LOL. Paid $30 for a coconut curry bowl that was SWIMMING in curry because the waiter didn't ask for the sauce on the side for me + a lemonade. Expensive for what you get. The cheese curds with the blueberry ketchup I've gotten on past visits *might* get back back in the door. *might* read more

Had dinner here Friday night with friends and it was a disappointment. Realized as we were pulling into the lot that one of my friend's and I had dinner here about 2 years ago and remembered the experience wasn't good either. However, was open to giving it another shot. We decided to start with the cheese curds which came out cold, so we sent them back. Second round was much better. What actually peeked our interest to come here was the Chicken & Waffle Mac & Cheese entree. The photo posted online it looked too good to miss and our waiter even talked it up. Wah- wahhhh.....It was a HUGE letdown for me. The Mac & cheese was dry and the cornbread was bland. The chicken was the best part of the meal. Honestly, service was snail speed slow. We'd be looking around for our waiter and see where he disappeared to. Between the food and service, the place just didn't deliver for me. I really wanted to like it, but after two disappointing visits years apart, I do not see myself ever returning. read more

Went to Steele & Hops for a ladies holiday dinner on a Wednesday evening, it was packed! Thankfully we made a reservation ahead of time. The decorations added to the festive spirit and made for great photo spot options. The food and drinks were delightfully unique and with so many to choose from we shared a number of the menu items. In the small plates section, we tried the Goat Cheese Toast, the Whipped Feta Dip, and Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms. All were delicious with the Whipped Feta coming in as number one. For meals, we ordered the Margherita Flatbread, the Thai Zoodle Pasta, the Beef Stroganoff, an Apple & Goat Cheese Salad, the BBQ Brisket Melt, and the Gyro Bowl. Had reservations for a date. Got seated in the middle of the main seating area which has cold metal seats. Would have rather sat on the patio or in a booth. It gets a little loud in the section we sat in when the restaurant gets really busy. Had a voodoo ranger beer which I love. Had the Alice and Wonderland cocktail which was awesome! So cute!! Light and refreshing and fun!!! Shared the Prosciutto & Peach flatbread with my date. It was good, but got a little wet and soggy towards the middle. But overall the flavor was spot on! We also shared the Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms. I love stuffed zucchini blossoms and these were good but a little fried tasting. I guess like fried oil is what I mean. We were briefly in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, technically, staying in New Brighton. We needed a restaurant that wasn't far from our hotel where a few co-workers from my wife's company and us could grab a bite to eat with reasonable pricing. Steele & Hops was pretty good Most of us had either burgers, wings, or salads, or a combination of a couple of items. The smoked wings buffalo style was really good with a lot of flats, which I prefer. The butter burger was decent with a gluten-free bun and broccoli slaw. The bacon jam on the burger was ok, fairly sweet. The cocktails were hit or miss. The Pickle Jen Martini wasn't as pickle-forward as I would like, tasting more of the gin than the pickle juice. The Peach Buzz Margarita worked a lot better with the hot honey, and the honey stirrer being a nice touch for mixing the cocktail as the ice melted. Located in a shopping plaza in St. Anthony Village. The restaurant had plenty of parking both around the building and next to it in the main lot. The interior with its dark gray trim and white walls, with black leather booth seating was classy. The bar looked very nice with the liquor shelving if you were just looking to have a beer or two and some appetizers. The service was good as we tended to receive our orders fairly quickly. read more

Staff was friendly enough. Place was somewhat busy for the lunch hour which was encouraging. Drinks were on the expensive side but very tasty. The price point for food way too expensive for what was presented. The flavors complimented and a lot of thought was put into paring the dishes but $20.00 for a a bang bang shrimp bowl that had only four, medium sized shrimp at best, and a ton of white rice as filler was disappointing. My husband had the smash burgers which was flavorful but basic and the overall size of the dish was small. If you go hungry expect to have a large bill. read more

Ate here 2 nights ago, we all got burgers, I only snapped a picture of my fiancé's because there is a story behind it. She asked if she could order of the kids menu because the smallest burger on adult menu was double burger, waitress said yes but you will be charged the same as an adult meal. We have been told by someone that has some law experience that is discriminating, they must let any age order off of it, unsure if this is true or not but that's what I have been told, she said, I can ask manager but think she will not allow it. We said forget it she would order off normal menu, waitress came back and said the manager agreed to it this one and only time so she did order and the size was perfect for her and she was grateful, very curious to know if this is something all restaurants need to legally do. Anyway all our burgers were great and service was also great. read more
