**Great local restaurant in the St. Anthony/New Brighton area!** If you haven't tried the Hot Honey Pepperoni Flatbread, you're missing out. The service has always been exceptional, and the classy décor creates an upscale dining experience at an affordable price point, which can be hard to find these days. This has become my team's and my favorite happy hour spots. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be offering more happy hour specials and extending the happy hour hours. Overall, I've had consistently great experiences here, with the only dish that didn't quite meet my expectations being the beef stew. Highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

I appreciated that they were willing to substitute grilled shrimp for the fried shrimp in the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl -- and it was a delicious choice! I'd definitely order it again. My guy tried the Crab Rangoon Flatbread, and while it was a fun concept, we both felt the flavors could have been a little bolder. The parking lot isn't ideal, but finding a spot was surprisingly painless. I loved the ambiance--it felt elevated and bougie without being pretentious. They must change the menu because we were here last year (Feb 2025) and not much on the menu appealed to me. But this year they were lots of things I wanted to try. I'm late in posting my review. But I do remember that I split entrees with another. We split the BBQ Brisket Melt and the Oklahoma Smashburger. We both prefer the BBQ Melt over the burger. It had more flavor and texture. I went with a friend on a Monday night at 5 pm and we were able to get right in. We were sat at a booth along the windows, and the sun felt amazing. If you don't like sitting in the sun , consider asking for a table instead or away from the windows. Food 5/5: we got the brussels sprouts and shrimp bowl. I loved the maple sauce with the goat cheese on the sprouts! It's definitely different than the soy type sauces other places are doing, and brought the perfect salty sweet combination. The shrimp bowl is my go to here, and was great. The sauce with the shrimp, avocado, veggies and rice is a great balance of flavor. Service 5/5: our server was very attentive and the food came quickly. Ambiance 5/5: this place has an upscale cozy vibe. It is on the smaller side, so tables are somewhat close, but not too close. I left pretty disappointed. The biggest issue was the noise level--it was so loud that it was difficult to have a normal conversation without raising your voice. If you're looking for a relaxed dinner, this probably isn't the place. The food was also underwhelming. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing stood out either, especially considering the prices. It felt like paying premium restaurant prices for food that's comparable to what you'd expect from a chain restaurant like Applebee's or Chili's. I've been here a handful of times and have enjoyed the food and the overall experience each time. My favorite thing has to be the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl, it's just flavorful and consistent. The Thai Peanut Bowl is a favorite of a friend. Unfortunately cheese curds are meh, as every time we've gotten them the cheese is only warm. This might have to do with them being served on a metal tray that's just a bit too big for what you get. However the blueberry ketchup is delicious! Don't sleep on their daily specials! I hate to rate this spot so low. I've been here multiple times and the patio is lovely, the place is always packed with happy customers, and service is always fine. The food is just 3 star food. The goat cheese toast is raved about in other reviews but it was unpleasant to eat. Literally toast from the grocery store with dried out, baked on goat cheese lumps, pesto dried out and dry craisins and maybe nuts? $15 for toast. The dynamite shrimp bowl was fine, not great. Almost $20, no thanks. Everything here to me is fine, not great. And pricey. Finally the 3rd time, I got the pickle burger but swapped it for an impossible patty in it which was nice and got rid of the bacon. The sauces were delicious on it, good tasting bun. The fried pickles were old and soggy on the burger already and the impossible patty tasted a little bitter but overall, this was the best thing I've had here and it was fairly priced for $15 with fries. I got the smoked turkey sandwich with broccoli slaw. The turkey is smoked in house and was delish! (Although I did expect more turkey in the sandwich; the ratio of lettuce to meat was off). The bar area is especially picturesque. This is a bit far from me, but the food and beverage scene was so good, I'd consider making an effort to make a return visit. The zucchini blossoms were very good. I will definitely try to copy this recipe at home, or just go back for more! The only unfortunate part of our visit is they ran out of hamburger. My husband wasn't very thrilled as that's why we went to try that restaurant out. I had the steak salad, and my husband and son decided to eat the coconut curry instead. This place never disappoints and this time we stopped in for brunch. The patio in the back was bustling, and our server tried her best. The bottleneck was at the bar; everything else was very quick. Our server went over the menu and gave us her recommendations. The bacon was rich and smoky with a hint of maple. The biscuits had a crisp outer flaky layer with a soft, fluffy inner layer. My friends and I chose this place for our dinner date. We had reservations on a Saturday night which was great idea, it was pretty busy in there. We got seated right away and drink orders were taken. We had a great server. To start off we got the cheese curds with the Blueberry ketchup. The sweet and the salty was a perfect combo. It's a must try. For entrées one of my friend's and I got the Birria Ramen bowl and my other friend ended up getting a Pepperoni Flatbread. My third time, and I'm still a fan. It's a nice establishment, with ample seating in the bar and dining areas. That said, if you can, plan ahead and make a reservation to be safe. As for service, I've interacted with employees who are warm and welcoming, and with those who were cold and seemed bothered by your presence. Thankfully the latter has yet to ruin my experience! Also, despite how busy it's been during my visits, the food and drinks have come out in a timely fashion. The cajun dry rub wings are my favorite, but the second time I got them... the blue cheese was flavorless. The birria egg rolls were tasty; filled with beef and cheese. However, the consume was bland and too watery. A dish I've enjoyed in the past was the goat cheese toast appetizer. It has walnuts and cranberries which all go so well together. We went here the other day to have some good food for a post birthday dinner and it was a lovely time. Our waitress was lovely and would check on us often while we were dining on our delicious food. We got some entrees and we were going to get dessert but we decided we were too full so we are going to go back and get dessert next time. I got the shrimp tempura bowl and it was delicious and had a drizzle of spicy mayo on top. My boyfriend got the Oklahoma smash burger and tried a bite and it was also delicious. I've been meaning to check this place out for a while and finally had the chance. We started with the goat cheese toast from the small plates menu. It was DELICIOUS. 4 good sized triangles to share with a table. Tablemate also had an Old Fashioned they said was good. For our main we split the smoked turkey sandwich. It seemed like a pretty boring selection, but the sandwich was very tasty. I am not a fan of "coated" fries, but these were fantastic - thick and potatoey. Our server seemed a little cranky and I think I would have liked to see a few more options on the menu (especially the sandwich selections). The patio was a perfect spot to unwind--plenty of space, great atmosphere, and ideal for a casual team hangout. We kicked things off with a round of drinks, including the Queen of Hearts and Lady Marmalade--both were fantastic! Really well-balanced cocktails with great flavor. For food, we ordered a spread: Cajun dry rub wings, buffalo wings, zucchini blossoms, and a few other small bites. The standout was definitely the Cajun dry rub wings--perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat and flavor. The zucchini blossoms weren't my favorite (the texture just didn't work for me), but I appreciated the creativity of the dish. This last visit I stand by that but I'd say my server on the patio made it even worse for me...I even told him what was wrong with my meal to which he said "oh that's my fault you told me that" - yes. Had dinner here Friday night with friends and it was a disappointment. Realized as we were pulling into the lot that one of my friend's and I had dinner here about 2 years ago and remembered the experience wasn't good either. However, was open to giving it another shot. What actually peeked our interest to come here was the Chicken & Waffle Mac & Cheese entree. The photo posted online it looked too good to miss and our waiter even talked it up. The decorations added to the festive spirit and made for great photo spot options. The food and drinks were delightfully unique and with so many to choose from we shared a number of the menu items. In the small plates section, we tried the Goat Cheese Toast, the Whipped Feta Dip, and Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms. All were delicious with the Whipped Feta coming in as number one. For meals, we ordered the Margherita Flatbread, the Thai Zoodle Pasta, the Beef Stroganoff, an Apple & Goat Cheese Salad, the BBQ Brisket Melt, and the Gyro Bowl. We didn't share the main meals but each person enjoyed their dish. With so many great choices to eat, drink, and a fun atmosphere, we plan to go back to try more. read more

Ate here 2 nights ago, we all got burgers, I only snapped a picture of my fiancé's because there is a story behind it. She asked if she could order of the kids menu because the smallest burger on adult menu was double burger, waitress said yes but you will be charged the same as an adult meal. We have been told by someone that has some law experience that is discriminating, they must let any age order off of it, unsure if this is true or not but that's what I have been told, she said, I can ask manager but think she will not allow it. We said forget it she would order off normal menu, waitress came back and said the manager agreed to it this one and only time so she did order and the size was perfect for her and she was grateful, very curious to know if this is something all restaurants need to legally do. We were briefly in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, technically, staying in New Brighton. We needed a restaurant that wasn't far from our hotel where a few co-workers from my wife's company and us could grab a bite to eat with reasonable pricing. Steele & Hops was pretty good Most of us had either burgers, wings, or salads, or a combination of a couple of items. The smoked wings buffalo style was really good with a lot of flats, which I prefer. The butter burger was decent with a gluten-free bun and broccoli slaw. The bacon jam on the burger was ok, fairly sweet. The cocktails were hit or miss. The Pickle Jen Martini wasn't as pickle-forward as I would like, tasting more of the gin than the pickle juice. The Peach Buzz Margarita worked a lot better with the hot honey, and the honey stirrer being a nice touch for mixing the cocktail as the ice melted. Located in a shopping plaza in St. Anthony Village. The restaurant had plenty of parking both around the building and next to it in the main lot. The interior with its dark gray trim and white walls, with black leather booth seating was classy. The bar looked very nice with the liquor shelving if you were just looking to have a beer or two and some appetizers. We had dinner at Steele and Hops recently when we visited Minneapolis. We arrived on time for 6 p.m. reservations for six and the restaurant was less than half full on a Thursday evening. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken. The atmosphere and ambience in the restaurant were very inviting. Our server was very attentive, but the bar took their time filling the drink orders when they were only for tap beer and pop. We ordered the appetizers and our entrées when the drinks finally arrived. It didn't take long for the appetizers, but by the time our entrées arrived, it has been almost an hour since we ordered them. The food was fine, served hot, but not what I could call great. Three of our meals were identical pasta dishes, two were fish and chips, and one was a burger. All the portions were very generous. Our server did the best she could considering how slow both the kitchen and the bar were at filling orders that evening. Steele and Hops came highly recommended to us, but we were very disappointed with the slow kitchen. read more
