Was in the area and this was one of the only places still serving food late. Had heard of it before but never been. It was pretty busy, they had some sort of show happening that night. Walked in and seated ourselves. Waiter brought over menus pretty quick and took our order. Staff was friendly. Food and drinks didnt take too long, drinks were pretty good. Wings were not good at all, I got the jerk dry rub and just no flavor. The shrimp were decent, and the chicken and Mac n cheese was good. I think the crowd was dictated by the show, not sure what the normal vibe is there but I did like the inside of the restaurant. Fun place with good and creative drinks. I got the London Fog Old Fashion and it was SOOOO good. I think it might be a special because it's not on the regular menu, but should be added for sure. Tried the Summer Breeze which was also really good. They also had a good selection of beers. The staff all seemed super cool and were super on it with timing and recommendations. If I'm honest, I had low expectations for Zhora Darling. There was only one (slightly overworked) bartender working when we walked in, eventually joined by another. We had 2 for 1 beers and the biggest surprise was how tasty the food was. We had both the smash burger - delicious - and the Caesar salad that was fresh and lemon-y. Would recommend! My friends and I love coming here but on two separate occasions the owner has come up to us and was unbelievably rude and entitled. I have never heard of anyone in the service industry talk to customers this way. The first occurrence was a few weeks ago when a group of us were buying an uber home near the bathrooms. He walked right through our group and told us we were blocking a "high traffic area" and proceeded to tell us he was the owner of the establishment and went on a power trip. I tried to explain to him we were just trying to get a ride and coordinate because there were no open tables and he was very disrespectful. Last night, he approached my friends standing by the bar to get a drink saying they were in the way as well, when they were trying to order from the bar. He proceeded to tell my friend that "she needs to stop drinking and get some help" when no one was openly over intoxicated or causing a problem in any way. These have been my only two times here and I will not be returning. Great place but this man needs to get his shit together. read more

Located in the old Red Stag location, Zhora Darling has a nice loungey vibe to it. A group of us went to check it out, specifically their karaoke room. My drink was wonderfully festive and set on fire. The Crimson Frost is a seasonal beverage that includes cranberry and a bunch of things I don't remember. Sorry! But, the sprig of delight that was on top added a nice Christmas in a glass feel. We ordered various apps: chicken wings, fries, pirogies, pizza, and pretzel bites. The fries and pirogies were great, however, the chicken wings looked like the saddest chicken wings I've ever seen. Barely anything on it. The pizza was more like an extremely thick biscuit with cheese on top. Was it an off night? Who knows, but the apps just didn't hit. The staff behind the bar was maybe having a bad night. They acted more put out than anything that they had to pour drinks for us. It was kind of rude, but again maybe it was a bad day. The karaoke room was a lot of fun! The website says it can fit 15-20 people...absolutely no way. There were 9 of us and there wasn't a whole lot of room to maneuver. All in all, it was a fun night and the drink was great. My partner and I live just two blocks away from Zhora and have been going ever since it opened. We've celebrated many birthdays, date nights and nights out with friends there. We absolutely adored the original bar staff (Dylan and Darin) and came to know them personally. They were always so kind, caring, and welcoming. Recently, there has been a noticeable shift in the attitude and atmosphere. My main concern is with a somewhat new bartender. As someone who works in the service industry as well, I've never meet someone who can make you feel so unwelcome and so unwanted at the same time. Unfortunately, we had a situation with them (about 3-4 months ago) that we thought had been resolved. We have been nothing but kind since then, and continue to support this business. However, we can no longer continue to support until this situation is resolved. Said bartender as well as another member of the team, feel the need to harass us over the situation. If there is a problem, I wowould immediately take it up with the manager. There is NO REASON that a bartender should approach us with this sort of attitude. I've already talked with a manager, but wanted to express how upset we are with the service from this group of staff! read more

Walked in on a Saturday for brunch and was seated right away. There were tons of tables available. Parking was a little tricky, but not too bad if you're willing to walk a block or so. The bartender was the only server and he was fantastic. Super attentive and quick. My friend and I both ordered the stuffed French toast and were SO happy we did. A massive portion with strawberries that were super fresh. And not too sweet. I also ordered a side of eggs and sausage - the eggs were a tad undercooked, but not terrible. We sat at the booth and noticed the wooden partition to separate the otherside of the table. Interesting pattern made of wood. Our server brought us over to the end booth and gave us suggestions on cocktails. They have their own names for the cocktails. I had been meaning to check them out and having family in town was the excuse I needed! We walked by around brunch on a Saturday and it was empty since they're primarily a late-night spot for music and drinks. The space is unique since it used to be the Red Stag and gives off supper club vibes that don't match the venue or menu. Speaking of... We tried to order 2 separate apps and were told they were both not available. After asking it seems they're changing the menu soon so just aren't prepping a lot of stuff. That's fine but a note on the menu would have been nice. We got a couple cocktails and they were decent. The egg sandwich was "ok" but nothing remarkable. The best part about it was the tomato jam. Main flavor was pepper. The sandwich was just pretty empty. There was a soft brioche bun, some slightly sage-flavored eggs, and a very small slather of some aioli. I was disappointed by the lack of flavor for how much it costs. Egg on a Roll across the river will give you 10x the flavor for 2/3 the price. If you're going to go simple like "eggs, one herb, mayo" it's got to be really well executed. The avocado toast was much better but, again, is kind of pricey. The avocado spread was nice and bright from the lime and the toast was flavorful. The eggs are the perfect french-style texture but, again, unseasoned. Lack of flavor strikes again. We also tried a watermelon salad that was very refreshing. Still expensive for some spinach, watermelon chunks, cucumber, and feta. Overall I don't think I'll be back but it was a good experience. I assume going at night when they're running their main menu and you're looking for a trendy spot is better. read more

I got close to experiencing all the facets of this place last night except the pool tables, maybe next time! My main purpose was music, specifically Fenix Dion, my only complaint is that the set was so short. Sound in the room is good, and there is a bar in it that includes THC beverages. The staff were very helpful for the most part, and I asked quite a few questions since it was my first time. Later in the evening as it got busier, there were longer waits for service; they may need to staff up more for nights when there is good music in the back. I kind of knew I was going to try the Green Pea Falafel because falafel is one of my favorite things to try wherever it is served. I checked out this cute little spot last night with a girlfriend of mine because they were having a comedy show in the back room. We decided we'd have dinner here first. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. the price of the food was pretty good and same for the drinks. My girlfriend had the strawberry vodka drink, and I had a glass of red wine. They do have a parking lot, but it was closed off because of construction. I did find a close place nearby to park though that I didn't have to pay. The Comedy show was a lot of fun. I will definitely be back. read more

When the security guard placed both hands on my chest and shoved me without a single word, what I felt was not just physical force but a visceral, familiar sense of being singled out--singled out because of who I am, how I look, and what my presence represented to someone who viewed me not as a patron, but as a problem. I have been to bars and public venues across Minnesota for years, and I have never been treated with such hostility. No gentle request to wrap up the game. No explanation. No attempt at communication. Just immediate physical aggression, directed solely at me. Even as people watched, even with my colleague beside me, the guard chose force over language. What happened afterward only cemented that feeling. The manager's sudden shift from performative sympathy to coercive dismissal, the insistence that I "not make this a big deal," the attempts to silence me--all of it echoed the way institutions often respond to people of color who dare to advocate for themselves. When I asked for accountability, I was met not with understanding, but with hostility--as though speaking up made me the problem, not the person who had been assaulted. I am sharing this because no person of color should ever walk into a bar wondering whether they will be treated with dignity--or whether they will be profiled, shoved, or silenced. My experience says one thing clearly: in this establishment, I did not feel safe. Not physically, not emotionally, and certainly not culturally. And the community deserves to know that. read more

Cool atmosphere, but the staff was entitled. It was a busy Saturday night, where there was waiting and bar service only- to be expected. Having participated in both strikes I was short on money, but still managed to tip the bartender one dollar every time I got a beer. But when it came the last call, he was serving people who were there after me, and when I asked him if I'd been cut off, he started freaking out saying it was because I didn't tip. Let's be clear a tip is optional not part of a job, and I have been tipping. I'd also been ordering the cheapest thing. I mean, all he was doing is opening it. anyway, it's a disgrace to see this type of person working in hospitality, the least you would ask is understanding in these hard times. This place is for young, cool people and I'm thrilled a space opened for them that has an entirely different vibe from the norm. Drinks are pricey but delicious. Zhora has taken over the space that Red Stag used to be at and renovated it into a trendier spot. When you walk in there are lots of neon lights and pool tables to greet you. We were sat immediately as it was pretty sparse for a Thursday dinner. Our drinks were good but nothing extraordinary. The same could be said about the food. They are a new spot so maybe they're still settling in. Most of the patrons there were seated at the bar and I think that is how I would do it next time. Started with dead ringer (unusual but not memorable) and lifeboat (too sweet) for cocktails ($15 each). Had pea falafel which was tasty. Needed a bit more if the accompanying sauce and julienned veggies. Ordered brussels sprouts (sweet and sappy) corn salad (good!) and the five leaves burger (pineapple and beets just don't work. Burger cooked perfectly medium rare). Best thing served were the truffle fries. At about $115 (including tip), it felt on the pricey side though if we'd have liked the food, we'd have felt differently. It's definitely a different menu and that can be a good thing. Not a great experience. Lack of attention to detail. The restaurant had PLENTY of open seating, yet our party of 4 was sat at a table set for 5 in which half of our party would have to look at a displeasing view of the kitchen. I requested to be moved to a table with a more pleasing view and we were happily accommodated. We ordered drinks and I ordered a glass of sparkling rosé and another ordered an IPA. Our server came back and said they were out of rosé but I could have a "bubbly rosé". Several sips in, my friend realized he had been served a Pilsner , and not an IPA. Our server checked on it and said "oh they were out of what you ordered." She offered him a different IPA. Would have been nice if he had been told what he ordered wasn't available, and given the chance to chose something else rather than just being served something else of bar tender's choosing. When deciding what to order, we realized 3 of us had a dinner menu and one had a brunch menu. One of the people in our party had his heart set on the fried artichokes, but that was in the dinner menu and we were told we had to order off the brunch menu that only one person was given.
