Ok, I'm visiting Minneapolis to see my kids and grandkids, and my two sons and I decided to come to a new dinner and drinks spot. We were quite impressed by the food! OMG! I had the goat cheese toast and it was superb. I know what you're thinking...goat cheese toast??? Yes! It has the creamiest goat cheese with candied walnuts, thyme, figs, honey, pesto, and a balsamic reduction on a toasted ciabatta. Wow! All those flavors in my mouth made me want to sing!! Hahaha We also got the lemon Caesar salad, and the BBQ Brisket Melt. So good! BBQ flavor was rich and delicious, with a juicy and tender brisket. We also ordered ALL the desserts. LOL The pistachio cheese was, hands down, the best cheesecake I have ever had. What a surprisingly delectable taste combination. The pistachio with the creamy cheesecake, think graham cracker crust and the whipped cream and ice cream was so delicious, I made a scene. Haha! The pineapple Bundt cake was soft, moist , pineapply and so damn good. The chocolate torte was good, delicious but nothing super surprising. The strawberry shortcake was the dessert I was most excited about, but it was disappointing. We did not like it. The shortcake had a really strong bitter flavor. Weird and not pleasant at all. We went here for a work dinner and shared a few appetizers. I can't stop thinking about the Brussels sprouts- they were phenomenal! For dinner, I ordered the curry rice bowl and was sadly disappointed. The curry had a decent flavor, but the rice was way over cooked and just a mush ball. I'd highly recommend the sprouts, but not the rice bowls. read more

We dined at this restaurant & it was very good with good service. We all we looking forward to sharing the bread pudding for dessert, but, it was either overcooked or not made to be moist, as it was just too hard & crusty so that was disappointing. We have been a regular customer of Steels and Hops since they opened. We have been to their Sunday brunch, Sunday night (kids' eat free :)), their Christmas specials, etc. The food option is good and their servers are always friendly. Recently, they pushed out the Monday/Tuesday take out specials, where its around 40 bucks to feed the family of 4. We are trying it the second time in a row this week and we are like the options. 3.5 stars for Steele & Hops. I wanted to give them a 4, but the service was so painfully slow it was almost comical. I was with a party of 5, and we ordered apps, drinks and dinner. We shared the cheese curds, pot stickers & chicken wings. We wanted the burnt ends instead of wings, but they were out of them. My friend and I both ordered the Cajun pasta. It had great flavor with lots of shrimp & sausage - but my bowl came out super saucy with not a lot of noodles, and hers was more dry with a lot of noodles. Inconsistent. Pinot Grigio was nice and crisp! We would have had more cocktails, but again the service was so incredibly slow we decided to grab more drinks somewhere else. read more

We had my birthday dinner at Steele and Hops and had a great time! First off, there were plenty of spaces to park, which is always a plus. There were also plenty of spaces to sit inside, even if you have a big group. The server was very sweet, but did miss a few drink orders when we asked for a refill. I ordered The Goat burger and thought it was very good. I did end up taking out the arugula though because it was a little over powering for the burger. We ended the dinner off with the pistachio cheesecake for dessert and it was delicious! My favorite thing I had and it was free for my bday! Overall I had a good time at this restaurant. Service was extremely slow to where it was noticeable for us. It was early in a Saturday evening and the place was not full. Out orders were not complicated (steak salad and soup). It was my first visit here, after hearing such good things and I was underwhelmed. Portion of steak in the salad was minuscule compared to other restaurants with similar dishes. I've been here a few times and overall, I would say the place isn't great but the location is convenient for my friends and I, plus the environment is nice, pretty spacious and we never had to wait. The food isn't very special. I've tried a bit of everything but nothing really stood out. I do think is ok if you want a place with typical American food, it'll do the job. The service was also nothing special. The servers were nice but also every time the servers forgot something- like a drink we ordered or food item. Stopped by around 11am on a Saturday. We enjoyed sitting on the patio on a sunny 73 degree day with a light breeze. Staff was attentive and accommodating. We got our food relatively quickly, and prices are about what you'd expect. We didn't realize brunch is only served on Sundays, but the lunch menu was fine. We did make it in time for $4 mimosas! My friend had the fish and chips. The fries were fine; the fish was really good! Moist and the batter had a nice crispy, light, lemony flavor. The remoulade was also good. The rice in my shrimp bowl was perfect. The sauces were both great! I didn't realize the shrimp was fried, I would have preferred sautéed or grilled to make the dish lighter, but that's on me. They omitted the ginger and onions as requested, so no problem there at all. We overall had a lovely experience. read more

The ambiance is beautiful, as soon as you walk in it has a wow effect. We were seated immediately and ordered some drinks, they came out quickly, so we proceeded to order some appetizers and the waitress asked if we would like to order everything together in which my wife replied no we'll wait. She came back around 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order and our appetizer should be out soon, so we asked if she could please make sure they don't come out together. She assured use that would be impossible being that we put him in 10 minutes ago, well you know how the story goes from here.. guess what came out first, that's right the entrées and five minutes later this young kid comes out with the appetizers. I immediately told him we don't want them. Send them back. We're already eating dinner she came back apologetic probably said sorry 20 times, we were over it rather quickly. I told her we don't wanna get charged for it. The bill comes out. She tells us the manager took the apps off. I take a look at the bill and she only took $12 off each app instead of the full amount, SMH can't make this up. Just keep this in mind if you decide to dine at this establishment, the food is very good. No complaints there, but the people that work there are in desperate need of some guidance and definitely not from the manager who can't even figure out how to take the amount off the bill. read more

If you want a relaxing dinner out this is NOT the place. It was so loud and noisy we both left. I've been to night clubs that weren't this loud. My friend and I went here for dinner last Saturday at 8:51pm. The only reason I know the time is because immediately after walking in we were told we have 9 minutes to order dinner. It wasn't even 9pm on a Saturday and we were rushed to order. My gin drink wasn't very strong and more on the sweet side. I wouldn't get that again. The chicken sandwich was the best part of the meal. The fries were good too - like the zesty type. Their hot sauce with the meal was top notch. Very tasty and our waitress gave us a side to take home. Unfortunately, the fries were served cold. With the rushed service, we must have been served the last of the fries. The cheese curds were excellent and was served with a bourbon sauce. The giant pretzel was good too, but the cheese sauce was awful. The margarita pizza's crust was overdone, but it tasted pretty good. The bar area is pretty cool. There's a wall of bottles. It reminds me of Volstead's, but a little smaller. First visit. Nice beer selections and a full bar as well. Nice menu that they change from summer to winter. I had the flatbread Marguerite pizza which was great. Thicker crust, plenty of toppings. My wife had the shrimp tempura rice bowl and really liked it as well. Our server was wonderful, well informed and knowledgeable. We made the mistake of overlapping brunch and lunch on a Sunday. Clearly the chef on Sunday is not the chef any other day. The burger sauce takes the burger over the top and the chicken sandwich was so delicious. The fries were just fine, for me they could have been more crispy.
