We had dinner at Steele and Hops recently when we visited Minneapolis. We arrived on time for 6 p.m. reservations for six and the restaurant was less than half full on a Thursday evening. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken. The atmosphere and ambience in the restaurant were very inviting. Our server was very attentive, but the bar took their time filling the drink orders when they were only for tap beer and pop. We ordered the appetizers and our entrées when the drinks finally arrived. It didn't take long for the appetizers, but by the time our entrées arrived, it has been almost an hour since we ordered them. The food was fine, served hot, but not what I could call great. Three of our meals were identical pasta dishes, two were fish and chips, and one was a burger. All the portions were very generous. Our server did the best she could considering how slow both the kitchen and the bar were at filling orders that evening. Steele and Hops came highly recommended to us, but we were very disappointed with the slow kitchen. read more

Have been here three times now and loved every bite!!! Great service! (They know when to leave you alone when you cop a squat with a girlfriend and look like you're going to spend the night...) Fun, clean, modern atmosphere. The dynamite shrimp bowl was terrific! Great flavors and textures! Same with the tofu bowl. The goat cheese toast was AMAZING! Going to get this every time. The salty, sweet, chewiness.... I am droooling just thinking about it. The old fashioned cocktail is the best I've had. Perrrrrrfect. ;) read more

We went to this restaurant on a double date and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The drinks were good. The service was awesome. Had a great vibe outside on the patio. The chicken wings are tasty. The burgers are juicy and filling and for the price of food, I would say it's totally worth a shot for a date night. They also sometimes do live music which is really dope. read more

Ok, I'm visiting Minneapolis to see my kids and grandkids, and my two sons and I decided to come to a new dinner and drinks spot. We were quite impressed by the food! OMG! I had the goat cheese toast and it was superb. I know what you're thinking...goat cheese toast??? Yes! It has the creamiest goat cheese with candied walnuts, thyme, figs, honey, pesto, and a balsamic reduction on a toasted ciabatta. Wow! All those flavors in my mouth made me want to sing!! Hahaha We also got the lemon Caesar salad, and the BBQ Brisket Melt. So good! BBQ flavor was rich and delicious, with a juicy and tender brisket. We also ordered ALL the desserts. LOL The pistachio cheese was, hands down, the best cheesecake I have ever had. What a surprisingly delectable taste combination. The pistachio with the creamy cheesecake, think graham cracker crust and the whipped cream and ice cream was so delicious, I made a scene. Haha! The pineapple Bundt cake was soft, moist , pineapply and so damn good. The chocolate torte was good, delicious but nothing super surprising. The strawberry shortcake was the dessert I was most excited about, but it was disappointing. We did not like it. The shortcake had a really strong bitter flavor. Weird and not pleasant at all. We sent it back, it was that disappointing. But...the rest of the food and beverages were absolutely a do-over! We will be back!!!! read more

We went here for a work dinner and shared a few appetizers. I can't stop thinking about the Brussels sprouts- they were phenomenal! For dinner, I ordered the curry rice bowl and was sadly disappointed. The curry had a decent flavor, but the rice was way over cooked and just a mush ball. I'd highly recommend the sprouts, but not the rice bowls. read more

We have been a regular customer of Steels and Hops since they opened. We have been to their Sunday brunch, Sunday night (kids' eat free :)), their Christmas specials, etc. The food option is good and their servers are always friendly. Recently, they pushed out the Monday/Tuesday take out specials, where its around 40 bucks to feed the family of 4. We are trying it the second time in a row this week and we are like the options. It makes busy workdays easy and affordable. Keep up the good work! read more

Went here for a friend's birthday brunch and everything was so flavorful and filling! Our server was so sweet; he noticed we wanted to share everything and came back with additional plates immediately and had great recommendations for our first time here (no misses at all). read more

We dined at this restaurant & it was very good with good service. We all we looking forward to sharing the bread pudding for dessert, but, it was either overcooked or not made to be moist, as it was just too hard & crusty so that was disappointing. Bread pudding should be soft enough to scoop on your spoon, we had to cut it with a knife to eat a bite. read more

3.5 stars for Steele & Hops. I wanted to give them a 4, but the service was so painfully slow it was almost comical. I was with a party of 5, and we ordered apps, drinks and dinner. We shared the cheese curds, pot stickers & chicken wings. We wanted the burnt ends instead of wings, but they were out of them. My friend and I both ordered the Cajun pasta. It had great flavor with lots of shrimp & sausage - but my bowl came out super saucy with not a lot of noodles, and hers was more dry with a lot of noodles. Inconsistent. Pinot Grigio was nice and crisp! We would have had more cocktails, but again the service was so incredibly slow we decided to grab more drinks somewhere else. read more

We had my birthday dinner at Steele and Hops and had a great time! First off, there were plenty of spaces to park, which is always a plus. There were also plenty of spaces to sit inside, even if you have a big group. The server was very sweet, but did miss a few drink orders when we asked for a refill. I ordered The Goat burger and thought it was very good. I did end up taking out the arugula though because it was a little over powering for the burger. We ended the dinner off with the pistachio cheesecake for dessert and it was delicious! My favorite thing I had and it was free for my bday! Overall I had a good time at this restaurant. There were some things that could have gone better, but I think I will be back again! read more

We had another great lunch at your establishment. Rachel our server knew the menu items and guided us happily through our choices. She was cheerful and attentive through our lunch. Matt makes the best pickle martini! Loved it. Thank you for being our neighborhood gathering spot. read more

I've been here a few times and overall, I would say the place isn't great but the location is convenient for my friends and I, plus the environment is nice, pretty spacious and we never had to wait. The food isn't very special. I've tried a bit of everything but nothing really stood out. I do think is ok if you want a place with typical American food, it'll do the job. The service was also nothing special. The servers were nice but also every time the servers forgot something- like a drink we ordered or food item. Not horrible where I wouldn't come back but also nothing amazing too. Plenty of parking though. read more

I wish they bought back the waffle fries. I like the sweet potato fries, but the waffle fries were better. More crunchy. The cheese curbs here are always a hit and the wings. Theyre smoke really well. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. A place where people come to read more

Service was extremely slow to where it was noticeable for us. It was early in a Saturday evening and the place was not full. Out orders were not complicated (steak salad and soup). It was my first visit here, after hearing such good things and I was underwhelmed. Portion of steak in the salad was minuscule compared to other restaurants with similar dishes. I'll give the place another try in a few months. Maybe it was a fluke bad night. read more

Rave reviews all around! We ordered cheese curds for an appetizer to start us off. They were so light and airy and came with a very unique blueberry dipping sauce. Highly recommend getting! They were memorable! I ordered a steak bowl and loved all the flavors that were coming out in each bite. I even snuck some fries from a friend's plate nearby and was so impressed with how crispy and delightful they were! We had a great waitress and she did a wonderful job in checking back in and making sure we were cared for. Loved the decor and how comfortable the booths were. Literally every plate we saw come out of the kitchen looked to die for! If you're curious on trying this place out, do! read more

Stopped by around 11am on a Saturday. We enjoyed sitting on the patio on a sunny 73 degree day with a light breeze. Staff was attentive and accommodating. We got our food relatively quickly, and prices are about what you'd expect. We didn't realize brunch is only served on Sundays, but the lunch menu was fine. We did make it in time for $4 mimosas! My friend had the fish and chips. The fries were fine; the fish was really good! Moist and the batter had a nice crispy, light, lemony flavor. The remoulade was also good. The rice in my shrimp bowl was perfect. The sauces were both great! I didn't realize the shrimp was fried, I would have preferred sautéed or grilled to make the dish lighter, but that's on me. They omitted the ginger and onions as requested, so no problem there at all. We overall had a lovely experience. read more

Great atmosphere! We sat on the roof. Service was good, drinks were great! Will definitely be going back.

Would be 5 starts. Until they started only giving you a small tiny (jello shot ) cup worth of cheese for the pretzel that's the size of someone's head. Cheese curds are amazing. Especially with the blackberry sauce. Customer service is always great! read more

If you want misery, then this is the place for you. Order a steak rare...get one well done. Order 2 cocktails in 2,hours? Get kicked out drunk because you sent back your over-done meal. I'm in my mid 60's and this is probably the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. IT'S TERRIBLE! read more

Here for my first time tonight with a girlfriend. It was much busier than I expected. The food was great, as were our drinks. Lots of options. Our server was not great for guiding us on the menu as people who had not been here before. Couldn't recommend a type of whiskey, had never had the slushee, not helpful when asking for a desert recommendation. Not usually what you get from a server. The food made up for it. Thoroughly enjoyed a smash burger here tonight, very delicious and the french fries were out of this world, with a light batter. And to top it off smash burgers were the Monday night special for $10.00. My friend and I went here for dinner last Saturday at 8:51pm. The only reason I know the time is because immediately after walking in we were told we have 9 minutes to order dinner. It wasn't even 9pm on a Saturday and we were rushed to order. My gin drink wasn't very strong and more on the sweet side. I wouldn't get that again. The chicken sandwich was the best part of the meal. The fries were good too - like the zesty type. Their hot sauce with the meal was top notch. Very tasty and our waitress gave us a side to take home. Unfortunately, the fries were served cold. With the rushed service, we must have been served the last of the fries. The cheese curds were excellent and was served with a bourbon sauce. The giant pretzel was good too, but the cheese sauce was awful. The margarita pizza's crust was overdone, but it tasted pretty good. The bar area is pretty cool. There's a wall of bottles. It reminds me of Volstead's, but a little smaller. Bottom line, I would come back for some drinks and apps, but not dinner. read more

The ambiance is beautiful, as soon as you walk in it has a wow effect. We were seated immediately and ordered some drinks, they came out quickly, so we proceeded to order some appetizers and the waitress asked if we would like to order everything together in which my wife replied no we'll wait. She came back around 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order and our appetizer should be out soon, so we asked if she could please make sure they don't come out together. She assured use that would be impossible being that we put him in 10 minutes ago, well you know how the story goes from here.. guess what came out first, that's right the entrées and five minutes later this young kid comes out with the appetizers. I immediately told him we don't want them. Send them back. We're already eating dinner she came back apologetic probably said sorry 20 times, we were over it rather quickly. I told her we don't wanna get charged for it. The bill comes out. She tells us the manager took the apps off. I take a look at the bill and she only took $12 off each app instead of the full amount, SMH can't make this up. Just keep this in mind if you decide to dine at this establishment, the food is very good. No complaints there, but the people that work there are in desperate need of some guidance and definitely not from the manager who can't even figure out how to take the amount off the bill. read more

First visit. Nice beer selections and a full bar as well. Nice menu that they change from summer to winter. I had the flatbread Marguerite pizza which was great. Thicker crust, plenty of toppings. My wife had the shrimp tempura rice bowl and really liked it as well. Our server was wonderful, well informed and knowledgeable. The location is a former Appleby's and you can kind of tell, but very nice remodel. We will return to sample more of the menu and beverages. read more

Sat down and tried to to order. It's so loud I could not hear my wife sitting across the table from me nor could I hear the server when she came to the table. If you want a relaxing dinner out this is NOT the place. It was so loud and noisy we both left. I've been to night clubs that weren't this loud. They need to figure out how to scale back the volume the servers might need ear plugs to protect their hearing it was that bad. Not for me. read more

Very impressed with this place! Have been wanted to make it here for a while and finally made it for a happy hour. We got seated right away, it is super cute inside. Very modern and clean. They even had live music on this Friday night! We got some mocktails, the dragon fruit nojito was yummy. Very good flavor. The appetizers were amazing. Like so good I would come back them alone. The corn beef egg rolls were the best thing I ate all night! So good. The others were still delicious though. For entrees, I got the dynamite shrimp bowl and my husband got the Brie burger. Both were really good! Can't wait to come back and try the other things on the menu! read more

Friendly service, lots of options on the menu, and bonus for me was a decent selection of interesting non-alcohol "sodas" which you could add liquor of your choice to. I had an orange spritzer that tasted like orange creamsicle, delish. We ordered the smoked wings, goat burger, sub a beet and pomegranate side salad, and fish and chips. Best thing we ate all night were the fries with the fish, they were bartered and perfectly crispy. The wings were smoky and juicy, but lacking some flavor on the dry rub. The goat burger was tasty, I wouldn't come back for it, but it's a good choice. The salad was terrible, no flavor, which was unexpected as I assumed the pomegranate would bring a nice punch. The fish was flakey, but the batter was weird, I felt like I was eating an oversized fast food frozen fish stick. Not a bad meal out all in all. read more

The service was very good. We could not have asked for better. The food was okay, but not anything to really right home about. The Alabama fries were nice, and something we've not seen on any other menu. My burger was good, but it didn't really stand out from any other burger on any other menu. The dining area was clean and bright due to a large number of windows. In all, a pleasant experience. read more

We made the mistake of overlapping brunch and lunch on a Sunday. Clearly the chef on Sunday is not the chef any other day. I was pretty sure it would be good since I couldn't get in my first try. We were seated fairly promptly as we had a reservation. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. We were encouraged to place our food order at the same time. The drinks came promptly but our main meals came quickly after. The food was disappointing because it was not hot, only warm. We canceled our appetizer which had not come before the meal. The burger was ordered medium but was well done, dry and not hot. We ordered fries which were also just warm and had many broken pieces . We had to ask for mustard and ketchup which never came. The chicken sandwich was ok but again, not hot. We were very disappointed. read more

After a long day of projects around the house with a craving for a great burger and a cold drink we did a google search for best burger in the Twin Cities (we just moved here) and Steele and Hops was the chosen destination. The atmosphere was pleasant. We sat at the bar and were met with a smile by a super friendly bartender. We ordered a smash burger and a Korean Bbq chicken sandwich. Both were amazing! The burger sauce takes the burger over the top and the chicken sandwich was so delicious. The fries were just fine, for me they could have been more crispy. That being said, we will be back for the burger - like many, many times. We also got a kick out of the tiny mouse door near the entrance. read more

What a great addition to the St. Anthony area! Wow - huge menu, there's definitely a lot to choose from. We ordered the goat cheese toast which I thought was delicious. Kids loved their rack of ribs and fried chicken sandwich, I didn't try their food this time because they had it under control and ate it all, so it's safe to say foodie kid approved! I thought it would be fun to order the watermelon soda but the kids weren't a fan, I personally thought it was good (not sweet) you can also add a shot of alcohol if you'd like to enjoy it as an adult beve. I ordered the steak bowl, I was pleasantly surprised the cilantro rice was flavorful and over all it was pretty good! Not something I'd normally order but I'm living on the edge folks. If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely go back to try other things on the menu, it's going to be a great summer spot with the huge patio! read more
