Steele & Hops showed a lot of promise at first. I remember being excited that my immediate community was finally seeing something new, and it was a wonderful, unique place for a while. Their menu was incredible, each item was so flavorful and uniquely crafted, and they had a lot of wonderful flavors from culinary traditions around the world as well. The drinks were no different. And all for a relatively reasonable price. And the ambience inside was great, it took a modernist approach to the standard bar, and the outdoor seating was great too, with space heaters to allow comfortable outdoor seating even in a relatively cold Minnesota autumn. And the service was nice too, people were very attentive to your needs and wants, and were very friendly. However, it seems recently their quality has drastically declined, the portions were smaller, the food was just mediocre at best in many cases, and the menu seems to change very frequently. Hopefully, they can turn it around, it really shows some promise to be a special place. Perhaps I will try it again in the near future and update my review. read more

What a great addition to the St. Anthony area! Wow - huge menu, there's definitely a lot to choose from. We ordered the goat cheese toast which I thought was delicious. Kids loved their rack of ribs and fried chicken sandwich, I didn't try their food this time because they had it under control and ate it all, so it's safe to say foodie kid approved! I thought it would be fun to order the watermelon soda but the kids weren't a fan, I personally thought it was good (not sweet) you can also add a shot of alcohol if you'd like to enjoy it as an adult beve. I ordered the steak bowl, I was pleasantly surprised the cilantro rice was flavorful and over all it was pretty good! Not something I'd normally order but I'm living on the edge folks. If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely go back to try other things on the menu, it's going to be a great summer spot with the huge patio! read more

As a picky eater, I would say that the main menu food options at this restaurant can be difficult to pick from. My friends and I did however really enjoy the giant pretzel and the cocktails (see pics). Overall service and general atmosphere at the restaurant were great! They have a patio outdoors with live music in the evenings. Their parking lot was limited but there is a ton of parking around. My piece of advice for this restaurant for my fellow picky eaters is to check the menu before going. read more

After our original dinner plans fell through, my husband and I were searching options that would allow our dog to be welcomed and accommodate our dietary needs. Steele & Hops had all of this and more! Our waitress Jess was absolutely amazing, attentive, and charismatic. The food was out of this world delicious and the cocktails were spectacular. 10/10 or in Yelp's case 5/5! We stopped in on a Thursday evening around 6pm, and there was plenty of seating. There were plenty of Covid guidelines, masks being worn, plastic dividers... I felt comfortable there. They offer specials throughout the week, Thursday is 1/2 off dessert and we totally took advantage of it! We started with the beer battered cheese curds and they were awesome! I appreciate state fair style curds and they can be hard to find. 5/5 Entrees we had: -pesto pasta: good, large portion without a slice of bread. I wish the mushrooms were cut a little smaller but overall 4/5. -beyond bbq burger and waffle fries: fries were yummy and came with seasoned sour cream. The burger itself wasn't great. The sauce was over powering and I wouldn't order it again 2/5. -a beef Korean bowl: we got this to go but it was still delicious. Plenty of traditional toppings. 4/5. For dessert: -pumpkin bread pudding: holy crap was this a BIG serving. Topped with ice cream it's enough for two. I wish it was served warm (I think they tried but overall it was room temperature). I would order it again! 4/5 -Cosmic brownie: again this was huge and with a big serving of ice cream it's shareable. Brownie was nice and warm but the dish it's served in could've been better. 5/5 on taste. I would 100% recommend checking this place out. Unfortunately, Steele & Hops was one of those restaurants. However, our server saved the day by advising me to add the brisket and she was 100% right. This place does meat the right way (confirmed when my friend tried his ribs). *Pausing to remember the brisket...resuming my review* I really loved the atmosphere here. It felt very cool to be in and I can see myself returning for multiple occasions. I thoroughly enjoyed my cocktail and conversation with the server. She was so down to answer any questions we had - including those that were completely unnecessary. Went out for a date nite with my wife last nite and decided to stop here since it was close to home,and it did not disappoint! Our bartender Alex was more than accommodating with our needs. I ordered a burger with a few modifications and my wife got the tofu bowl,and both were perfect! I would say it was one of the best burgers I've had in a while! Went this last weekend for date night and went tonight for the wing special - yummy food and reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and kind staff. Our server tonight (I think Marcus? Caucasian male with red hair) was kind and did great despite all his tables being full and people from the patio coming in due to the rain needing a table. He acknowledged that he was busy and apologized for not being able to check in as often. Good happy hour deals and daily deals! Pretty diverse menu. Usually get a sandwich or burger. The fried chicken sandwich is the best in my opinion. Perfectly breaded and the toppings go nicely. The burgers are also good. The shareables aren't really that shareable as they are pretty small so if you're with more than 2 people you would need to order multiple. The bar is good for happy hour and they have live music sometimes on weekends which is fun. The summertime we really enjoy the outdoor patio as we can bring our dog. We stopped by on a late Sunday afternoon/early evening. It was busy but we were seated right away. We visit Steele and Hops several times a year since it's not far from where we live. As usual it's a good family friendly restaurant located in Saint Anthony. The restaurant is clean as are the bathrooms. The initial waiter was efficient although not super friendly but not rude either. They switched out the wait staff during the middle of the meal and the 2nd one was much more talkative and friendly. We started with the cheese curds and they were yummy. The strange blueberry ketchup never goes over well with our crowd but if your palette is open to different and interesting tastes this may be up your alley. I usually get a sandwich and fries or the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl but I was in the mood for comfort food. The Chicken Pot Pie dish totally hit the spot. It was delicious - seasoned perfectly, creamy, biscuits had a little crunch to them and I was so there for it! We also got the Fajita Bowl which was also very good - meat cooked perfectly, it was a little light on the onion and peppers, avocado was fresh, beans, rice cooked well, and the sauces on top blended it together perfectly. My hubby made a suggestion saying he thought it'd be better if they offered a soft tortilla on the side in addition to the crunchy tortilla strips on top. The Steele and Hops Cheeseburger was cooked well and the fries were crunchy good. My chicken tender connoisseur kid was quite happy with the tenders and totally approves We will be back especially since they offer free meals for kiddos on Sunday. I got the lavender mojito but subbed vodka and the bang bang shrimp bowl. I asked for no onions, but got them anyways. I picked around and it was still good but there was like 5 shrimp. It had good flavor, but it was majority rice. My friends got the chicken and waffle sandwich which they loved & another got the burnt ends (only available on Fridays and Saturdays) and was very happy about it! My cocktail was super good and my friends all loved theirs! & the service was fast and friendly. A little pricey for some items and drinks but otherwise it was a nice place to celebrate. The food reminded me of Applebees in terms of taste. Presented well but the flavors were not it. The burnt ends were thick but very dry in the center. Also surprised to see them on top of a bed of French fries (kinda weird) The goat cheese toast had just a little too much goat cheese that tasted dry and crumbly. Two visits in three weeks, visit one was a 4 (food 5 / service 3). Second visit was a 4.5, (food 4 / service 5). I'll give them a 5 on the round up. Like the location, big parking lot, reservations, and a nice patio. Everything checks the boxes. Apps - pretzel and curds. Let start with the pretzel, which is huge, and the beer cheese sauce is lights out delicious. You'll lick the bowl clean, and you might even snag someone else's plate at your table to lick that sum bitch clean too. You'll catch the maltyness of the beer on the back end of the flavor and it works so perfectly. Curds were good. Not great. The sauce is good, but the batter lacks something. They are fried perfectly, so win. Burgers: Bacon Bison with sweet tater fries. Good burger. Couldn't take a pic as I was out with fam and had the phone away. I did not care for the pretzel bun at all though. I think it took away from the flavor too much, and gave too much dough. It did survive an entire rare sided burger and the juice it brought to the party, so there's that. But still, candied bacon, jam and blue cheese, the pretzel bun just didn't belong at that party. Southern Belle Burger (pictured). Bacon, good cheese, sauce and some fried onion strings. It's hard to mess this one up, and they didn't. It's a solid burger that had it all working. I enjoyed it, the wife enjoyed it, and it brought world peace for a few moments while it lasted. Brisket grilled cheese - this is a winner. Get this. I know, "it's a grilled cheese." No, no it's not. It's a grilled cheese with awesome brisket, can't you read? The cheddar/provolone mix with the smoky brisket and sweeter bourbon sauce is how it should be. Mix in Texas toast to get it to your food trap, it won't disappoint. Elote flatbread. This was a recommendation by our waitress. Being an elote fan, this was a hit as well. Sweet corn, mmhmm. Cool avacado, check. Spicy chicken, yup. Creamy refreshing queso fresco, you betcha! But, the happy ending giver, the aioli that ties it all together, a cilantro-lime'ish one that makes you not regret past life decisions. All in all, good stuff. They also have a large specialty cocktail menu and an impressive array of beers on-tap. It was really busy so we sat at the bar. The service was first class. We started things off with specialty cocktails. Mine was a Blueberry Mojito - yum! Then we got Reuben Eggs rolls with a Reuben sandwich/1000 Island Dressing style dipping sauce. (If you like corned beef sandwiches, you'll love this one.) We also ordered fried Beer Battered Cheese Curds. These arrived with "smoked blueberry ketchup". The sauce really did it for me. Good stuff. For dinner we selected the Bacon Blue Crusted Ribeye Dinner (with smashed brie potatoes & steamed broccoli). The steaks came topped with blue cheese, bacon, mushrooms, & onions. Our steaks were really good - tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Finally, we topped it all off with Pumpkin Mini Donuts. These were, basically, donut holes coated in sugar & cinnamon and stuffed with a pumpkin cream cheese filling. These little guys were like eating little bites of heaven. I found Steele & Hops here on Yelp for a casual but nice dinner while my family was in town. We absolutely loved it. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone! The staff were super fun and helpful and our food came out quickly. They have a huge bar with an extensive bourbon collection and lots of fun cocktails! All of the food was delicious! My favorite was the Brussels sprouts in a delicious Thai peanut sauce and the whipped feta spread! The burgers were delicious and they had so many fun and different flavor combinations. Parking was super easy and we cannot wait to go back to try the burnt ends (unfortunately they ran out for the night). read more

We sat on the patio which was amazing ambiance and had Dustin as our waiter last weekend, he was very attentive and on top of everything! We had the shrimp tempura and the ahi tuna bowls with an elote flatbread! Everything was delicious so we needed to come back! This week Phaylen was our waitress inside and she was so friendly and also on top of everything! We ordered the nachos, kill dill flatbread, and goat cheese toast! Had a wonderful time the other night for dinner. We had reservations at 7:15 and the place was packed and had to wait 10 minutes after reservation for a table to open up so FYI would make a Resy. We lucked out that when we came in they had an amazing singer in for the night so ambiance was great. We started out with crab artichoke dip it was creamy with thick chunks of crab 5/5. I ordered the Tennessee hot chicken which I would rate it had heat but it has a very smoky flavor. I didn't love the breading and would rate 4/5. My friend ordered the brisket grilled cheese great ratio of brisket to cheese and not to rich! 5/5 the drinks we ordered were both okay! It did the job but didn't outstand us. First time giving this place a try. I would say it was a solid outing. First, they do daily specials every day of the week plus happy hour. I went on Tuesday and the special was $7 specialty tacos (which were walleye) amd $5 margaritas. I did have the margarita, which was light and refreshing (pictured). They also have a nice craft beer selection. Also tried the happy hour special Sriracha cauliower and the Goat cheese toasts (pictured). Both were tasty. The cauliflower was different than I pictured in my mind (I had thought it was going to be saucy and roasted; rather, the Sriracha was baked into the fried breading), but still enjoyable. The toasts were great. Ordered coconut curry chicken for dinner (pictured). Also solid, but wasn't super coconutty. Felt bad for the hubs; they are in between menus, so they were out of a lot of the things he wanted to try. He settled on the pepperoni flatbread and I think thought it was pretty ho-hum.
