The new kid in town among Irish pubs. (There are a dozen incumbents, 3 within walking distance, so there's competition.) This is instantly the top seed. They're trying a different approach, offering only "small plate" servings of pub grub. Fish and chips are excellent -- cod the freshest I've had outside coastal regions; fries are fresh and properly cooked. Veggie burger perfectly satisfactory. Toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream was correctly, not overly, sweet. And the Guinness was truly a perfect pour, and temperature. 28 days after opening, already dialed in!

****GOAT BURGER ALERT*** MOVE OVER PARLOUR BURGER! Must get the burger here & add another patty for $4 for a double burger with double white American cheese. Wow! The burger at Parlour has been terrible the last year I would never get a burger there ever again (Parlour burgers has been skimping out on the meat & cheese... & comes too burnt no longer juicy). The burger here tastes like just like how Parlour burgers used to be many years ago! When it first came out... thick patties & not burnt!!! WOW OH WOW!!! It comes with some fries for a total of $15. It's $11 for the single patty with fries. I came here with my best friend for the FIFA finals game... it was packed to the max and it was super hot in there almost like a locker room with so many people. Once the game ended and people cleared out it got cooler again, but those windows next to the balcony that are facing south definitely needs some shade. I think that's why it gets so hot in there. I would definitely come back here for the burger. It was absolutely delicious. I would say it's the best burger in the North Loop. If you're craving a cheesesteak, the best cheesesteak in the North Loop is at Tono's. Everybody else in the area is sus at their burgers. Now, this is my new go to place for a burger. It literally tastes like Matt's burger, but not as salty, and it comes with white cheese here not the yellow cheese at Matt's.

Great spot for a late evening drink and snack after a Twins game! Plenty of seating options, both indoor and out on the sidewalk in their patio. This place was packed with people and still ran pretty smoothly for recently opening. There are TVs spread out, and both tables and booths that seat 6. The salad was good, the spice bag even better. Plenty of good seasonings and the curry sauce was tasty deliciousness! They've got a good selection of beers on tap, and mixed drink offerings as well as wine. They're still learning in there, a few service snafus, but I'm sure they'll work out all the kinks in time. We will definitely be going back there!

Fantastic new pub! Great atmosphere - library and snug are beautifully designed. Staff is great and food is delicious!

    Fish and chips. $15.00!

Food, drink, atmosphere, decor, all brilliant! One of the best Iri pubs in the cities. I had the fish and chips, absolutely top notch.

We went this last week with a large group before a show and had another great experience. We didn't make any sort of reservation and they were able to seat us right away. The interior has that classic vintage pub feel with lots of character and natural light. There are tons of booths and different seating areas that could accommodate parties of all sizes. I especially liked the glass dividers between some of the booths, which give you a little extra privacy without making the space feel closed off. My booth also had coat hooks and easy access to outlets, which I appreciated. I could definitely see myself coming here for a working lunch. My server was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially as I was trying to figure out how to use a couple of rewards I had on my account. I specifically came in wanting to try the fish and chips. Their lunch menu offers smaller portions of several dishes from the dinner menu, including a fish and chips option for around $15. I really wanted to try the walleye, though, so I ended up ordering the full dinner portion for around $28. The fish was absolutely the star of the plate. The breading was fantastic--crunchy around the edges while still light and fluffy--and the fish inside practically melted in my mouth. The tartar sauce was also really good and paired perfectly with it. The sides, unfortunately, didn't impress me nearly as much. There were plenty of fries, but they were pretty average, and the coleslaw was mostly cabbage with a light dressing. It felt like it was missing some acidity or lime to give it a little more personality. For almost $30, I also expected the meal to be a bit more substantial. I left satisfied, but found myself hungry again a couple of hours later, so I'm not sure the dinner portion felt worth the price for me. If you're mainly curious about their fish and chips, I'd probably recommend trying the smaller lunch portion first rather than committing to the more expensive dinner version. Would I come back? Absolutely--the atmosphere, service, and location alone make The Local worth another visit, and I noticed several other dishes on the menu I'd be interested in trying. I just don't know that I'd order this particular meal again. The fish itself was excellent, but for me, the sides and overall value didn't quite match it.

Huge bar top surrounded by TVs, lots of Irish decor, and cute booths that really lean into the theme. Unfortunately, things started off a little rough. The person I met there waited over 10 minutes at the host stand before anyone acknowledged them. I totally understand hosts may be on break or helping elsewhere, but with the restaurant nearly empty it was surprising that no bartender or server stepped in. Once we were seated, it also took a while before our server came by. That said, our server ended up being super friendly and attentive the rest of the visit. We ordered an Irish lemonade, a cold beer, and the Gaelic Whiskey Bites. They were exactly what you'd expect with an extra crunchy exterior, but the sauce was actually really good! Honestly made me wish I had tried a burger with that sauce instead, but we weren't hungry enough for more food. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood Irish bar, but nothing really stood out to me. I'd probably come back for the patio or on St. Patrick's Day!

This place is very generous with the amount of meat that comes with the order which is the biggest I've ever seen for its price. The vegetables are super good. It was a mix of mushrooms and carrots in a thick brown gravy. The mashed potatoes were fine. Next time I would ask for extra mashed potatoes. I love how it is garnished with the skinny fried onions. I would definitely come back here and try their other foods, especially their chicken pot pie.

However today has caused me to give O'Brien's one star and believe me if it were possible I'd give them -1. I was supposed to meet six of my friends here today for St Patrick's Day. Our car got struck and we did not arrive until 1 1/2 hours late. We were so late that we would have just had a drink had we known there was a time limit on the table BUT our waitress, Addison 8, did not mention this and took our meal order leisurely. Just after we were served she announced to the table that we all had to leave in 15 minutes. I said I assumed it did not apply to us as we had not even started to eat. she told us it applied to all of us. She told us if I was not happy about this I could speak to the Manager. I told her I would like to. then she said I could speak to her instead but I told her I wanted to speak to the Manager. No Manager ever materialized. I probably will never go to this restaurant again. I know times are tough and I don't object to time limits on tables BUT if a customer is very late the least a server should do is let them know there is a very limited time left for them to eat BEFORE they order $70 worth of food and drinks. I will be sure to mention this matter to my friends and as I have stated i will make sure I give my other regular restaurants the business I gave O'Briens. '

TOASTING HAPPINESS…read more We drove all the way from Chicago and we needed some dinner. I called over here to find out if the kitchen was still open for food. We found out we had about an hour to order. We rushed right over because we didn't want to be getting dinner from a gas station grocery store. Yes when traveling on the road for work these things can happen when restaurants close early in unfamiliar towns. We also decided to walk because walking on icy snowy sidewalks to a bar in the freezing cold is the safest thing to do. I'm feeling my decision making was influenced by the exhaustion of driving all the way from Chicago plus I didn't want to get back into a car again. The bartender here was really cool. I felt bad that the bar was empty but I'm sure Sunday's are like that around here. They had a great all day Happy Hour on Sunday with $2 off all tap beers. I decided to enjoy a delicious Castle Danger Cream Ale. I don't see many cream ales in America. When I would work in Canada this was my beer of choice. This was before America even started sprouting up local microbreweries. I was very excited to have this beer to enjoy plus we're not that far from Canada, so it's like old times for me again. We were up against the clock for dinner and drinks with the bar closing early. In fact, I think we heard last call which encouraged us to order another round of beer. That last call wasn't the last call because it got extended by an extra hour or two. Luckily a large groups of actors came in after their show and they started drinking up a storm. The bartender was smart to not close down the bar. I never understood bars that would kick out customers who are drinking when they can actually stay open. We were across at the other end from this large group and thanks to them we got our drinking time extended. I think we got 3 more rounds in after our first last call. Now that's something to toast about. The food was good. I wouldn't call it great. It was what I expect from Irish Pub food. I decided to go fish and chips because it just felt right. It was cold and snowy and it seemed like the perfect Irish bar food. The fish was nice and crispy. I wish the batter had a little more seasoning. The fries were delicious and I ordered them crispy and the cook nailed it. I can't stand soggy or under cooked fries. I also had a side salad because I needed to even out my dinner. The salad actually makes all of the fried food healthy. It's a road trip rule. We also had the coconut crusted chicken fingers to start with. Yeah it was a fried food kind of place which totally goes great with some nice ice cold beers. Our bartender was the best. He was on top of it and actually spent time talking to us. I'm are he was bored too with an empty bar. I'd defiantly come back here if I stayed in the area for work again. I'm always a sucker for a good happy hour and it's even better when it's all day event. That gives me something to smile about. Cheers!

The bar was nearly empty, there were maybe 5 people in the bar/restaurant when we arrived. I don't think it was slow on the bartenders part as much as it was our server. A couple Guinness, a black and tan and a hot cider later, we waited to order food. While eating we decided we didn't want to wait any longer for our server so we went to the bar to ask for waters, our drinks long gone at this point. We also got up to get our own ketchup. Burger was fine but mostly flavorless. Cottage pie was fine, had I not been starving I likely wouldn't have eaten as much as I did. The food was just OK, nothing memorable or spectacular about it. Prices were pretty high for what it was, $17 for a cheeseburger is pretty outrageous, cottage pie in a ramekin was $18. Server wasn't very friendly, or was just in a bad mood that day. She spent a lot of time in the back (this was between major meal times, around 3:30-4) so she didn't seem super engaged or have much desire to be out on the floor. 3% surcharge for credit card
