The lunch size was perfect for me! My husband got the burger. I tried a bite and the meat was SO good!! Our only complaint is we didn't love the fries. Our server was great. Stopped in with some friends for the first time this week. Service was nearly nonexistent. Ordering was slow. Getting drinks was slow. The bar was nearly empty, there were maybe 5 people in the bar/restaurant when we arrived. I don't think it was slow on the bartenders part as much as it was our server. A couple Guinness, a black and tan and a hot cider later, we waited to order food. While eating we decided we didn't want to wait any longer for our server so we went to the bar to ask for waters, our drinks long gone at this point. We also got up to get our own ketchup. Burger was fine but mostly flavorless. Cottage pie was fine, had I not been starving I likely wouldn't have eaten as much as I did. The food was just OK, nothing memorable or spectacular about it. Prices were pretty high for what it was, $17 for a cheeseburger is pretty outrageous, cottage pie in a ramekin was $18. Server wasn't very friendly, or was just in a bad mood that day. Had a nice and savory dinner on their patio tonight and had a great time! FOOD: Scotch Egg (3/5) dusted with lots of paprika. Steak and Mushroom (4/5) tasty, big chunks of meat and mushrooms, nice gravy and topped with a buttery and flaky puff pastry. I just wished the steak was more tender. Savory Pie of the Week (3/5)was chicken pot pie with a side of fries. It was delicious, but I wish the pie was larger with larger chunks of chicken. We've been here a few times since our first visit now and I can say that it hasn't let us down yet. So far every dish we've tried has been a hit. The first time we came we got the British Fish & Chips which was excellent. We've also gone back for their brunch and tried both the breakfast burrito and the breakfast flatbread. We loved both of them! The build your own Bloody Bar has a great selection, and their other mixed brunch drinks are delicious. We were also able to bring our dog thanks to the patio, they have a nice setup with a decorative fireplace and fountain. The tables have umbrellas that give good shade, but the view is pretty much just a parking lot. It's still a great time though and has enough decoration to keep it interesting. I was so excited to see that they serve their burgers medium rare. I even confirmed this with the server. I prefer rare but will eat medium rare. Very disappointed when my Jalapeno Popper burger came out with the slightest light of pink. It was dry due to being overcooked. If it had been cooked right it would have been good - maybe even great. The chips (fries) were very good. Brown sauce would have been a nice touch but they had malt vinegar. My husband liked the lemon pancakes a lot. We had the English Toffee Pudding for dessert. The custard sauce was great and I liked the amount. The pudding itself was moist. It was okay but I have had much better Toffee Pudding. It was just too bland. On the outside, it's a strip mall. On the inside, it's a traditional Irish pub. This is a great place to grab a pie or a fish and chips with a pint while you watch some footy. They try to show any football, rugby, or cricket match that you might want to watch. I've never been upset with the food - the brunch is great too! They have an excellent tap selection, including English options. They also have a wide assortment of whisky's available, and THC beverages if that's more your vibe. read more

I came here on a Friday night and immediately was surrounded by people. The place was packed and there is no good place to stand, you are pretty much just shoved into the corner by the pull tabs. We had a reservation at 6 and it took a minute to get our table since the group sitting where we were supposed to sit was hanging out so we ended up sitting in the bar side instead. I've worked at a restaurant before, I get it. Our server was kind and it was quite loud in the bar side. There was a drink menu with various beers, cocktails, and even some mocktails. Their food menu had traditional pub food, which I expected. There weren't any clear gluten-free designations; gluten free bread and buns were offered and one item explicitly said the gravy was gluten free, but besides that, you needed to guess. I ordered a jalapeño popper burger and saw that they served the burgers medium rare and was excited. It most definitely was not medium rare..medium well, maybe... I think if you aren't limited with dietary restrictions and enjoy the pub atmosphere, this is a great place for you. We went for brunch, and the food was your average pub type food. Think Perkins meets dive bar. I was kind of disappointed in the decor as I thought it would be more "old world" or proper pub looking, but it looked like a regular in a strip mall (I was also surprised it was in a stip mall). The food tased okay, but it wasn't anything special, but the cocktails were delicious! Our server was very shy and unsure of herself - super sweet - but we all had trouble hearing her because she stood unusually far from the table and kind of whispered to us. Maybe she was new? My daughters were looking for a place to take my wife and I to celebrate my birthday. My youngest suggested this for two reasons. First it was somewhere we had never been and second it was midway between my wife and I and our oldest daughter who lives in Woodbury. As it turns out, older daughter dined here and wrote a review published recently in the Eagan City Lifestyle magazine, where she is a contributing writer. Surprise surprise! When we arrived at 11:30am, the place was mostly empty. We were quickly helped and before long we all had our meals. My wife, oldest daughter, and I had fish and chips while youngest had a chicken salad. We also ordered the Bacon & Brussels for an appetizer. Food was excellent and I quaffed my thirst with a Guinness. It is an Irish pub, after all. We all enjoyed our meals and by the time we left, around 1pm, the place was pretty packed. Really great food and cool atmosphere for sit down bar food. We were able to fit our large group and the service was great!

It would not be fair for me to judge this place based on a pretzel and cheese that I ordered for take-out. With that being said, I have had better gas station pretzels for a dollar, and the cheese was definitely not beer because it tasted more of a broccoli type mix. So, as an appetizer, when I actually have a normal lunch or dinner, I'll skip the pretzel/cheese and get something different. This was such a quaint place to visit. I'm leaving for London soon so my old workplace visited as a "going away party". We ordered pretty much one of everything just so we could sample. My margarita was AMAZING. I got two of them and I'd definitely go back just to have another one. The food was very good and reminded me of my trips to the UK. Another hidden gem in the suburbs.Who would have thought you could find the hallmarks of an English pub in an English strip mall? The grounds are beautiful but let's focus on the menu. Excellent selection of British ales and cider, but more importantly they have beer drinks I have not seen in Minnesota before (except maybe at Brit's pub) that combine different types of beer or beer and cider, etc, I drinks such as the Snakebite! I was also excited and surprised at the number of vegan/vegetarian options- updated takes on classic Brit food such as a Pasty. And the chickpea appetizer was amazing! In addition to the excellent food, the patio is beautiful! Gorgeous flowers and an outdoor fireplace! It's rare that I recommend a suburban spot as a destination restaurant or bar, but I think the Eagan Arms is worth the drive. read more

My friends and I went there for brunch. They have a good sized patio and we sat out on it although our one diner was stung by a wasp unfortunately. I went with the double smash patty and added bacon and a side of seasoned tots. This was no smash burger though. Each patty was like 1" thick and was like slider diameter. Hard to tell from the pic. I had to squeeze it myself to get it to fit in my mouth and the bun didn't hold up at all to the juice. I think it looked good, but the Burger was not really seasoned, it was pretty dense because of its thickness, and although it was done how I prefer (more like medium well despite the menu saying medium rare), that technically seems like a miss. it just wasn't a great burger. I admit to liking saltier burgers like Bebe Zito and parlour, but this really just didn't have a lot of flavor. Seasoned tots were more warm than but the seasoning was on point and I devoured them. And it was a pretty good portion. Everyone else seemed fine with what they had (English breakfast mostly), but I Would not order the burger again probably. Service was ok but not all that enthusiastic, and after saying she'd bring waters for everyone, it wasn't until after she got us drinks. My bestie and I were doing a little shopping at the Eagan outlets and decided to continue the fun at Eagan Arms Public House for a drink and dinner. First time for both of us. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. The pub was busy, but we were greeted and seated within a few minutes. Smaller restaurant with a bar and pull tabs (we didn't have any cash so we couldn't try our luck-- next time for-sure). Our waitress was nice and brought us waters along with a really neat pitcher of water; very unique. Variety of food on the menu. We ordered the jumbo pretzel and scotch egg for our appetizers. For our entree, we split a chicken club sandwich with fries (not pictured). Food was very good. Pretzel was perfectly salted, soft, and tasty. The cheese sauce was different but we really liked it. We've never had a scotch egg before so we decided to try it and shame on us because we've been missing out on a good thing. Super yummy. Highly recommend. The chicken club sandwich was also very good. The bread was toasted perfectly, chicken was tender, and the fries were seasoned to perfection. Great sandwich. The restaurant started picking up more around 9:00pm. Our waitress was patient and handled the busyness well. Tried a new place and used my #eaganreataurantweek gift card winnings. I started with a Black and Tan (Guinness and Finnegans). Haven't had one in some time and it was a good choice. Since the menu was new to us, we opted for the sausage rolls, a spiced sausage surrounded with crisp dough. Not sure what the sauce was, but it was good. Being its 500 below zero outside, I opted for comfort food in the form of cottage pie. Beef and veggies topped with mashed potatoes and melted cheese helped warm my insides. Staff was masked and service was excellent. Our server was very helpful in menu suggestions. The owner walked around and made sure customers were having a great experience. Tables were social distanced. Looks like there is a nice patio for warmer days. May they come soon. read more

I was at Happy Hour this past Monday with my New Sociable group. The Happy Hour menu was great as were the prices. But I thought 10.50 per glass for wine during Happy Hour was excessive!! At Houlihan's you can get two glasses of wine for the price of one during Happy Hour and I was unpleasantly surprised to be charged 21.00 for two glasses of wine when I expressly asked the waitress for the most reasonably priced wine. I met my son for lunch today and it was our first time here. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Service was impeccable! Kudos to Christina (sp?)! The ambiance is warm and wooden. Not a comfortable spot to sit and linger, but definitely a pubby vibe. The food was good but not great. We shared a steak sammy and an Irish burger. The steak was London broil and definitely could have used more tenderizing and less rosemary for my taste. There were portions of grit that simply were not edible. I met up at a nearby park for a picnic with some family members who brought food from Eagan Arms, and we were really pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. So I went back and got takeout there recently, plus I got a freezer pie. It was all great. From the outside it looks like a pretty nondescript strip mall bar. My only glimpse of the inside was from picking up my food, but it definitely had a pub atmosphere. I've had a ham & cheese croissant sandwich and a mac & cheese with bacon. The ham & cheese sandwich was super delicious and was what really got me thinking about returning soon after. I also had a side of fries with garlic aioli, and those fries are in no way mediocre. I don't know what it is but they are kind of perfect french fries. The meat pie thing I took home was really good too. I didn't know what to expect; I just saw them on the menu when I was ordering takeout and decided to include one for a later date. I froze it and then baked it several days later according to the instructions, and it came out nicely. The flaky crust was unique and still seemed strangely fresh. I will definitely come back here for food, and once I'm truly comfortable dining in (they are open and adhering to the state's restrictions), I'll be excited to do that and get it nice and fresh. read more

What once was a Mexican restaurant is now an English pub. When we dined there prior to change in ownership we really liked the patio. The patio is still just as great. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We tried Ribena, a black currant juice that is sold in Europe, mixed with hard cider. We thought we'd live on the edge and try it, it was delicious! I had the fish and chips,British, which was malted, salted and wrapped in paper. The pub sauce it came with was lip smacking good! The hubby had the Speyside pie, a smaller pie with veggies and wrapped in a puff pastry. It was flavorful, too much spice for me. The hubby liked it though. I don't usually walk into a place with preconceived notions about much. Fortunately, I wasn't burdened by any when I visited Eagan Arms Public House yesterday. I quite enjoyed the ambiance of the place, which was clean and nice. I plopped myself at the bar to place a to go order and was greeted by 2 different bartenders to make sure I had what I needed. As for the food, it was really great. We got the sausage rolls which were savory with a sweet and tangy BBQ style sauce. The traditional scotch egg was served with a VERY horseradishy mustard. Use sparingly. We also enjoyed the cornish pasty with fries. Everything was super tasty and it lures me to go back and try even more. The feel of the place was drawing me back as well. The Eagan Arms Public House is an attempt to create as nearly as possible a UK pub in a strip mall in Eagan MN. They are surprisingly successful. As a frequent visitor to the UK I have visited a lot of pubs and like the French Cafe these are institutions which seem to defy efforts to transplant elsewhere. The typical pub is a neighborhood institution which has a friendly but usually a somewhat down at the heels vibe. Patrons are typically locals. Prices are modest. The Eagan Arms achieves a lot of the ambience of an English pub. Clean but dark and a bit seedy. They have table service which is usually not the case in the UK but much of the menu is typical- fish and chips, bangers and mash, steak and kidney pie in this case mushroom sub for kidneys. All comfort foods. They also have sandwiches, burgers, and salads. I was with a party of seven so we were able sample a number of items from the rather extensive menu. We started with a fried cauliflower appetizer which was excellent and one order was adequate for our group. I had fish and chips which was very good. The fish was good quality and fried in a tasty batter. The quantity of fries was overwhelming and they were quite good. Others in our party seemed very happy with their food as well. We finished with a couple of orders of molten chocolate cake for the table which hit the spot. You get a large amount of food in each order so plan accordingly. Our server was business like and we got our food quickly. All in all I rate Eagan Arms very highly and will definitely return. Food was amazing. I'm a Brit, living in America for the last 16 years and this is best British food I have found outside of England. We got the meat pasty, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, fish and chips, the sticky pudding with custard, a side of peas and extra HP sauce. The fish was crispy, and salted to perfection. The sausage rolls were seasoned perfectly and the pastry was flakey and buttery. The meat pasty took me back to my local chippy back home, the steak was super tender, seasoned beautifully and packed with flavour. The pudding was light and airy, the toffee was delicious and nothing beats birds custard. I will 100% be back to try the rest of the menu. Absolutely scrumptious. read more

We learned about this place from our in laws, because they live down the street. It's a crime WE don't live down the street. We had the British fish and chips (spouse ate too fast before I could get a picture) and the Cornish Pasty. (For those like me who say paste-y, it's actually past-y) Both were fantastic. I had to take my crisps (chips) home because the pasty itself IS the meal. The onion gravy is to die for, I want to put it on everything. The service was great, noise level was a little high but not anything ear piercing. It's very much a public-house style restaurant with its big bar and dark tables.
