I've eaten here several times over the past few years and all I can say is, "Meh." It's mediocre at best. I absolutely love Irish pubs, and actively seek them out wherever I go throughout the world. Having been to Ireland multiple times, I seek authentic atmosphere, Guinness on tap ( poured properly), and true Irish food. The Bangers and Mash were okay the last time I was here, ranking maybe a 6.5/10. I visited a few days ago after a round of golf at a nearby course and ordered the Shepards Pie. Now, Shepards Pie isn't exactly difficult to make, nor is it a unique dish. In Ireland, it would be akin to ordering a bacon cheeseburger in the states. Traditionally in Ireland, it's made with ground lamb, not beef, but ground beef has been used for decades in many recipes, so I don't hold that against folks. Other ingredients are very basic, peas, carrots, mashed potatoes, a little yellow onion, natural thickeners and seasoning. The potatoes can be cut up in cubes, but one of the defining characteristics of a good Shepards Pie is the mashed potatoes are a top layer of the mix. Almost like the heavy cheese in proper lasagna. What I was given resembled nothing like Shepards pie. It was a lot of ground beef mixed with corn with a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy on top. It was an abomination and an affront to Irish cuisine. Shame on Celts for calling this Shepards Pie. It looked terrible, and the taste really wasn't much better. 2/10. I don't want to totally flame Celts. The Guinness was poured properly and the two bartenders were great. When I mentioned that what I was given was far from Shepards Pie, the sweet lady working the bar looked at me with a cheeky grin and shrugged as if it wasn't the first time she heard this, saying "Yeah, I'm not quite sure what they are doing back there." read more

The food is made in house and each day brings different specials feom the menu. Their Fish & Chips on Fridays is generally breaded and seasoned to perfection. Look at the pictures...to eat here in the dark with no windows, you have to drive a big Ford Truck, wear a wife beater, have a don't "tread on me" decal in the back window (clearly they don't know the historical meaning) or a MAGA sticker (clearly they don't know their history) and playing AC/DC for the whole neighborhood to hear. Don't eat here. It's probably a good place to watch a game or drink a beer but my food experience was a joke. Loaded waffle fries are kinda my thing if I'm eating at a bar so I was excited to see them on the appetizer menu described as: topped with melted cheddar jack cheese, bacon bits, topped with chives and served with seasoned sour cream. What can go wrong with that? And for $10.95 they must be amazing, right? Granite City charges $11.25 and theirs are amazing. Celts? Ummmm, no. I received a basket of under-cooked waffle fries about 1.5 layers deep with a tiny bit of melted cheese on top and maybe a 1/4 of a piece of chopped up bacon on top. This place confused me. There are 2 separate bars. Why? Stopped at bar at right side around 10:30 and they were closing. Walk up some steps to bar on left. My sister and cousin wanted to keep drinking. I was the designated driver so had water. The decor with awful land murals was so 1977. The place had only 10 people in it but was so ridiculously noisy that could not hear a simple conversation. Seems pull tabs were the big draw here. Could not leave fast enough. read more

Stopped in for a beer with a friend. Apparently there is two sides to this place but we only saw the side that faces the intersection of the corner where this bar & grill sits. There were a lot of people dressed up in Vikings gear which seemed weird to me on a Friday night. Then I realized they were doing some Plinko type game with Vikings prizes. I sensed this place attracts a lot of regulars. Our friends were wrapping up dinner and we joined them for a beer. The waiter came over to their table at least 3 times and ignored us every time. One of our friends even hollered at him by name and he still walked the other way. They had about 6 or 7 beers on tap so we went to the bar instead to get served. I went with Surly since it was one of the few local brews. I probably would not go back again unless it was a last choice. Went to this place for dinner on our anniversary. Me and hubs enjoyed the banger dinner. BUT, Donnie the bartender couldn't keep him mitts off our beers. Every time we put our beers down off the coaster he moved it and more than once. He actually commented that we should put our beer on the coaster. It was very awkward and weird. And he was not polite about it, more pushy. This is one of our favorite places, we love the food we love the beer but the situation was awkward and we would think twice before going back if he only doesn't constantly touch our drinks. We went here because House Of Coates had at least a half hour wait for a table on a Friday at dinner time. At Celts, it was busy but we were able to find a seat right away. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands immediately. The waitress took the beverage requests of my friend and gf when I was gone and then disappeared. When she finally showed up in the area again, making popcorn was more of a priority than asking if I wanted something to drink, so I went to the bar. Bartender was cold and somewhat standoffish but he did offer me a sample of the beer I inquired about to make sure I'd like it. Excellent, as I did not. I returned to our table and asked(our waitress as she walked past, I don't think she ever asked us if we needed anything) if the tv in front of us could be changed to a game that was on. It took about 20 minutes for the channel to be changed and we were finishing our food by the time the request was fulfilled. Meanwhile, our table had no napkins, so I returned to the bar, knowing we would not see the waitress again for 20-25 minutes, if at all. The gal bartending looked right at me and then suddenly turned and walked away in the opposite direction. Good burger for bar food. I ate here on a thursday for lunch. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with waffle fries. The cook likes to really pile up the fries and you get a lot of food on your plate. I asked to have about 1/2 an order of fries because I don't need to eat that many and they gave me about 3/4 of an order. I asked to have them extra crispy, they were a little crispy but could have been in the fried for another minute or so. The burger was good and served medium. read more

For what it is, this place excels. After the remodel last year, the ambiance is even better and the excellent food & beers are always a treat. Can't go wrong with the Irish faves like the Fish & Chips or Bangers & Mash. They also cater to those with varied beer tastes and always have at least 1 hard to find beer on tap, including the usual Surly, Bell's, and Guinness. I'll be there weren't a lot of other bars with Black O' Lantern Pumpkin Stout around here! They have a few cheap beers on hand too, but I usually ignore those. There's also more than enough TVs for watching the games or playing TapTV trivia. I'm in Blarney heaven. The whole town is Irish themed. Went on Friday for the Shamrock film festival. Mine wasn't in there because they only do shorts. But when I go to a new town, I want to try out the local fare. This is pub grub at it's finest. I had a bite of the fish and chips, and the beer battered cod was very good. Even though it was Friday it isn't an all you can eat. I had the shepards pie, and it was delicious. Hamburger in a delicious gravy and topped with perfect mashed potatoes, only difference the inside veggie is corn not peas. We both started with a white Ma's Boston clam chowder, and a damn good one. They offer a lunch buffet, and sunday brunch buffet too. Decor isn't really standard Irish pub, also music is concert hall pitch, so don't plan on talking to anyone and being heard. They need more seating on the lower level and could have it if they took out the video games, or placed them in some corner. The menu offers a lot of variety, and looks good enough where you would want to try it all. They don't serve food after 10, so it couldn't accomodate our after party, for food, room, or noise level, so we had to take it to Carbones next door. They are right about the service, it's great. There seems to be the regulars, that's why I'd like to see it as a wee bit more laid back Irish pub, complete with Irish music. With my girlfriend's family living nearby, and our never-ending desire for burgers as a couple, it was inevitable that we would try this place eventually. I was definitely not disappointed in our decision. From the outside, it looked like a dingy little dive bar that would not have incredible food. Once you actually go inside, it definitely is dive bar-ish but it is actually pretty nice for what at least I expected. The servers/bartenders were all very friendly and definitely added to the experience. We sat down just before a big dinner rush, so they were able to chat more than they probably would have 30-45 minutes later but I am confident they would still have been very friendly. Then the actual burgers. I chose the Blue Blarney burger (a bleu cheese burger) whereas my girlfriend chose the hangover burger. I ended up trying both as she almost never finishes any burger she has, but they were both VERY good. They definitely didn't skimp out on anything and were almost too big to bite into. If you're going for drinks, I cannot speak to the list of what they have. I ordered Coors Light and they had it, and that is the extent of my knowledge. Definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. I know we will be going back multiple times this summer when were are both back in the area! read more

We try new places all the time and decided to hit up Celts after driving by it a 100 times. Ordered a Bloody Mary which was delicious! A little spicy but it woke me up! The food is incredibly greasy and not of the best quality. It seems to be more of a place to drink and watch games with some friends than a place to dine. I gave this only 1 star, because I was in the mood for some really good Irish food, and I was sorely disappointed. That said, however, the staff is incredibly friendly and the service is great. If you are in the mood to grab a beer with some friends and watch a baseball game, it appears to be a pleasant place to do just that. read more

Honestly? Probably my favorite place in town to grab a bite. Good food and generous portions. I'm often in a group; which includes a cantankerous old guy -- they humor him there and roll with his caustic comments.
