This place was hosting a birthday party for three locals, they welcomed us to their potluck dinner.....no joke. From the get go this place was warm and welcoming. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. A second bartender who was not working had us sign in the guest book and thanked us for coming. There is only 1 light beer on tap, the rest is bottles. Try the Polish beer and you won't be disappointed. Friendly, a real sense of community, and hands down genuine people. The regulars don't even eye you up because this place just isn't like that. But as the new owners have taken over, things shifted. Generally it was fine but in the last couple months things have gone downhill. The last straw was when I went in for a single drink with a friend, early in the evening and when we got our tabs, we filled out our receipts and left our tips and went on with our evening. The next morning, I was called by my bank about a suspicious tip amount that I had recently left (aka the evening before). These cheapskate cheaters and thieves working at the bar had changed my tip amount egregiously. On one single pint, I think I paid $7/$8? And my tip amount was over $30 making my one beer almost $40. If that is what tappers has become, it is no longer that quaint and unique neighborhood dive bar that Chris and Steve had bought back in the early 2010s. The icing on the top was that one of the owners was actually our bar tender that evening. Slimey and shady and when we called to inquire, we were hung up on. Let this place go back to the dogs. At least the drunks and townies that used to call Tappers their neighborhood pub weren't stiffing the customers.

As for drinks, I tried a non alcoholic half and half with lemonade and iced tea, which I actually really liked. I also had a mojito style cocktail that was not my favorite and tasted a bit too strong for me. One thing a lot of people might not realize: they actually serve more than just pizza! They make food right behind the bar (which is awesome to watch), though we haven't tried it yet. Joe is the best bartender -- he's always so kind, quick with a drink, and just an all-around great guy to see behind the bar. The venue itself is on the smaller side, which just adds to the cozy, neighborhood feel. They usually have good music playing, and whether it's busy or quiet is kind of hit-or-miss -- but either way, it's a comfortable spot to relax.
