Oh man. Where to begin... I've been going to tappers since 2010, before I was even 21. It was the spot for the neighborhood usuals and it was a great atmosphere. But as the new owners have taken over, things shifted. Generally it was fine but in the last couple months things have gone downhill. The last straw was when I went in for a single drink with a friend, early in the evening and when we got our tabs, we filled out our receipts and left our tips and went on with our evening. The next morning, I was called by my bank about a suspicious tip amount that I had recently left (aka the evening before). These cheapskate cheaters and thieves working at the bar had changed my tip amount egregiously. On one single pint, I think I paid $7/$8? And my tip amount was over $30 making my one beer almost $40. If that is what tappers has become, it is no longer that quaint and unique neighborhood dive bar that Chris and Steve had bought back in the early 2010s. The icing on the top was that one of the owners was actually our bar tender that evening. Slimey and shady and when we called to inquire, we were hung up on. Let this place go back to the dogs. At least the drunks and townies that used to call Tappers their neighborhood pub weren't stiffing the customers. read more

The best place for sitting down. I've sat in so many places where I had a decent time sitting down but Tappers is different. Sitting at Tappers is just better. Sometimes I eat a pizza while sitting at Tappers and it's always amazing. Sometimes I drinks some drinks at Tappers and they make sitting at Tappers even better. This is a five star dive bar! Great local beer and cider with very chill atmosphere. The bar tender got to know my husband and I after a few visits and always had our regular orders ready to go! Quick bar service and good place to bring some cards to chill with friends! read more

Second try and it was fantastic. Rainy day at the pub, having some beers and tried the Deluxe Coney Island Pizza. Now we have a conundrum the next time we have to choose a pizza type because it was fantastic! Which do we get next time? Both? The sausage and jalapeno was spicy and savory, and the Coney Island was like a hotdog and a pizza had a baby and the best traits of both parents went into it! The Coney pizza ..for those who are curious...is a pizza with a Coney sauce base, cut up Ambassador dogs (the best kind), plenty of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, and then topped with chopped onions and mustard. It literally tasted like a hotdog...only it was pizza. Just terrific! It was a good day and we'll be back again and again. Again, it's not a fancy place...it's a comfortable and friendly place where you enjoy an afternoon or evening with your fellow humans. The best kind of place :) read more

This place is the best neighborhood bar I have been! They have something for everybody. Revolving book club to meet any skill level or world view. Incredibly tolerant staff whom seem to have adopted " the rock"? Or just some eccentric and abrasive sales guy. But more importantly they have a great tap beer selection. Charitable gambling is accessible but not expected! The touch tunes machine is always operational. The newly remodeled bathrooms are pleasant! The layout is perfect for interacting with the others. And be sure to let that amazing pizza to cool off,so you can truly enjoy it! The pizzas are the best. They have 2 dart boards for amateur or professional athletes. Although the book clubs often encroach the playing area. Book club trumps darts at this location, so be prepared to share your thoughts on the suggested reading. read more

My wife and I bought a house in the area about 18 months ago. We have visited all of the neighborhood pubs in the area in those 18 months. Tappers is head and shoulders above any of them. It is welcoming, warm, friendly and clean. The clientele treat you like their neighbor. The bartenders are friendly, generous and know how to handle those over indulging. CUSTOMER IS NOT KING I bought a house in the area that we are rehabbing and have been place this place many times, always wanting to stop in and check out there local craft beer selection. My boyfriend and I are craft beer enthusiasts so we we were excited to see this place. Tonight we called a friend and asked him to meet us there. It was cool at first, for about 15 - 20 minutes. I don't even want to give 1 star. MOST AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! The bartender only gave 2 beers when I paid for 3 and tipped him very well. He caused a scene while accusing me of trying to SCAM him out of a beer. I seriously did not get the beer. He slammed a beer down so hard that it went all over me and the bar and say,"HERE-HERE"S A FUCKING FREEBIE!" OK- This is UNACCEPTABLE!!! It was not free and his behavior was hostile. I totally did NOT get the product I paid for. Being humiliated, embarrassed, angry and in disbelief, while being the middle of this big scene he was creating we asked for our money back so we could leave and he would not give us the money. He then took the beer he spilled all over and dumped it out, took the two shot glasses for the round I paid for for my friends and told us to get the FUCK out. Mind you, we paid for 3 drinks, we wanted to leave because it was hostile and weird, but I wanted my money back, 2 drinks were never poured, one was, but it was violently slammed down at me and announced loudly that it was a 'scammed' beer. He would not give us the money and then re-filled the beers and told us to drink them and get the fuck out. Then he said,"If you weren't already so drunk you wouldn't forget that you drank that beer." WHAT??? I had been there for about 15 minutes when this went down, and I had a lot of my first beer left, but now, of course, I am drunk! The manager came over and kinda tried to smooth things over by giving only me a free drink glass, but come on, who would stay there? She really just wanted us to leave, she was kind of coddling him, but he was the one in the wrong and he was the one stealing from us. I couldn't barely drink any of the beer I had, I just wanted the terrible experience to be over. All in all that idiot bartender made 5 bucks off us in less than 30 minutes and treated us like shit. I am such in disbelief that I experienced this as a patron just going in to have a couple craft beers and check out a neighborhood place. None of us had ever experienced anything like this before. It was the absolute worst customer service ever. I will NEVER spend any of my money there again, too bad, I was excited about the craft beer and the music seemed ok too. Is it typical of good tipping new customers to try scamming free drinks? Is it normal to have the entire bar informed of your 'SCAMMED FREE BEER' while being served a beer you paid good money for? WOW!!!!! JUST WOW!!!!!!!!!!! SO SUPER WOW! And...the manager coddles him...he better be part owner or for the sake of her business she needs to can him. He has NO BUSINESS IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. Me and friend were at tappers for the first time ever,the bar tender was ok at first but then my friend bought a round of beers. The bartender for got to pour my friend a beer, he didn't even acknowledge the fact that she needed one, then the bartender went off to the bathroom and when he came back we asked about the beer that he hadn't poured yet. Well then, he just went off on us saying that he poured the beer when in fact he hadn't! We came in looking kinda scruffy cause we just got don't working so I think he thought that we were trying to get a free drink! Needless to say he was using all sorts of profanity towards us, all over one drink! and then the manager tried to make things right but then sided with the bartender! Then the regulars started getting in, that's when got out if hand so we just decided that we best leave! Tappers is the kind if place that if you're good person that's never been there before, you'll probably end up in jail for not being a regular customer! Worst place to get a drink ever! And no food either( unless you like frozen pizza, and potato chips). read more

Great local spot. Fast and friendly service, lots of TVs, good bar food and a solid selection of taps.

Myself & a group of three went here on a Sunday night, late, maybe 11pm for drinks. The bar wasn't busy. Probably 25 patrons total. We had three rounds of ordinary cocktails (12 total) and our tab came to $79 & change. I'm pretty sure the bartender 'built' his tip into my bill. My mistake was coming here already inebriated. The next day I questioned each of my guests to be sure I had the facts straight of what we'd ordered. I believe he added $24 to my tab. The credit card receipt just shows a gross billing total (no detail). If you go here, pay each round separately. Don't let'em build you an untraceable bill to pay. I expect to be treated fairly. That's not what happened. I won't go here again. read more
