Seriously great pizza! This local roadhouse features handmade crust pizzas and has daily menu specials as well as a 3 - 6 happy hour. We had the Jamaican jerk and pineapple-jalapeño pizza with the meatballs appetizer. The jerk chicken is nicely spiced with zing. Both the pizza and meatballs were delicious, but Pro Tip: put some of the leftover meatball marinara sauce on the pizza crust and it is extra special!!! Staff are super accommodating when we wanted to sit on the outside patio and were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend! read more

Man, you guys are dicks. I've never seen so many reviews bitching about the service. I've been here quite a few times. Yep, the gals waiting tables aren't the most attentive. But let's remember one thing... It's called a Roadhouse. Chill out, get off your ass, and go to the bartender for your extremely cheap and tasty cold beer. There are comically bad DJs playing some sort of twangy country music. Gals with quite a few poorly thought out tattoos dance a little too loosely with their choice of man for the night. Some hoots and hollers can be heard. Conversations are bandied about dealing with a hard days work on the site. A big ass dog keeps circling my table waiting for me to drop a square of pizza on the floor. True story. It's all part of the experience, kids. It's a Roadhouse. Goddamn lucky Patrick Swayze and a beautifully mustachioed Sam Elliot don't bust out and kick your ass. The pizza. Solid. Sure, I've had better but I've also had a whole hell of a lot worse. I'd classify it as a thicker thin crust pizza. Square cut. Toppings are fairly generous as is the amount of cheese. I think it's a tasty pizza. They say that the 18 inch feeds 4-5 people. Ok, that's a bit ludicrous. 2 to 3 is probably more accurate, and 2 for the full sized folks such as myself. I would say the pricing is a tick high also but it's more than made up for with the cheap price of beer and drinks. Especially during happy hour "Double up for a Buck". Would you like another pitcher for a dollar? Does a cheap hooker sweat in church? Umm, yes to both. Just relax and have good time. Don't concern yourself with the little honey that's supposed to be waiting tables. She's sure as hell not concerned about your fat, bald ass. Beer. Pizza. And one hell of a show to watch. Zero stars for zero service. Me and my family went here yesterday (Saturday) for lunch. It wasn't busy at all. Our server was also the bartender (blonde older female, I don't remember her name). She brought menus to our table as soon as we sat ourselves, took our drink order and appetizer and then left us for the rest of the afternoon. Never came to check back on us to actually order our meal, went and took a cigarette break, then came back in and walked right past us to go back up to the bar and serve those guests. We had to literally wave her down to refill our drinks, take our order and then even to get the check and get boxes to go. She never served us. The cooks actually brought out our food. It's unfortunate that I had a bad experience because this place is near my apartment, and I've been looking forward to trying it out. Never again, that's for sure! read more

I've been to Mac's numerous times now since we moved to the area a few month's ago. Either we got lucky each time or it is always happy hour with the option to double up your drink for a buck. I have tried their sausage & mushroom pizza, cheeseburger pizza, spaghetti pizza, and their German style pizza with sauerkraut and the cheeseburger pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had so far. The pizza sauce packs great flavor and is spicier than other pizza joints and they use fresh mushrooms (not canned) with loads of cheese. The new menu is offering salads now for a healthier alternative (if you have a New Year's resolution to uphold.) Just a reminder...Macaluso's is a Roadhouse. So if you are looking for a place with sparkling clean remodeled restrooms or a cozy fireplace for ambience, this may not be the place for your date night. Some of the older reviews complained about the service here, but I have 0 complaints. The bartenders already know me and my husband by name and we aren't even nearly close to being "regulars" here yet, but hey, if they keep up the great work, we may just have to become ones :-) read more

Have owned our house less than a mile away for almost 30 years. When we bought our house this place was called the Triangle and looked rather scary. Recently, some friends told us the pizza was great. For some dumb reason, I always thought it was a dive bar that served up frozen pizza and the like. Well I was totally wrong. I ordered an 18" Supreme, an 18" Road Hog, and some Garlic Cheese Bread for curbside pickup( my friends were visiting, I didn't eat these myself). The gentleman who brought the food to the car was awesome and the pizzas were incredible! My wife and I look forward to ordering out and going in regularly from now on. read more

If there was a freeway exit directly to this baby no one would get a parking spot. It's tucked away but most hidden gems aren't easy to find. Good luck finding a better pizza. Good luck finding a better bartender. The proprietors keep those doors open until 2am every night for a good reason. Every sports bar within 5 miles of here is a catch-all for riff-raff and the problems that follow. When it comes to "Roadhouse Standards" I'm sure Patrick Swayze would approve. read more

I decided to visit on my lunch break for the first time since its 5 mins from my job. WORST EXPERIENCE I was deliberately ignored for well over 20 mins. I have an hour This place is undeserving of even one star. If your Black DO NOT EVER come here. Your business isn't wanted, Your life doesn't matter and they want you to know it. We know the difference between being intentionally ignored and not being seen. This didn't make no sense whatsoever, Even As I left no one said anything, not even the woman at the door. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars because the bartender was not nearly even almost friendly. However she said up some credit with her P.E.R.F.E.C.T water moccasin, he says. We were intrigued about this place after driving by it several times in the last few months due to construction closures at Hwy 96. We stopped in on a Sunday shortly after 5pm. We should have had a clue how poor this place was when we were not served within the first 10-15 minutes after sitting there. The TV sound was way too loud and the pulltab operator had to help us get the attention of the bartender to come and take our drink order. Since it was Happy Hour, we were able to get a second drink for a $1 more. After nearing the end of our second drink, we tried to get the attention of the bartender again to take our food order and brink us some water. The bar was fairly full, but outer tables were mostly empty, and new customers were coming in to sit at the tables. She finally came to take our order at about 6pm. A couple came and sat at the table behind us. We sat, and sat, and sat... At 6:30, the lone cook came with two baskets of food. I told my wife this has to be our order. Nope, it was the order for the table behind us!!! We were furious. I went up to the bar and asked when our order would be done. The bartender went around to corner to ask the cook, but he was in the bathroom. She said it would be at least another 5 minutes or so. I said this was ridiculous! We had waited 30 minutes, with no food nor any apology from her for it taking so long. She commented that they were slammed with take-out orders, but we only saw one group in the time we were there with to-go bags. I canceled our order and paid for our drinks. We left immediately! This is no way to run a business. I agree with this being an "up-north type bar", but even at bars I've been to up north, the service has always been better than at this place! Also, it seemed prices were high -- $9 to $9.50 for a 1/4-lb burger?!?! You pay that for a 1/3-lb to 1/2-lb burger at other places. They don't even serve fries with their burgers -- only bagged chips! Also, when we had ordered food, I asked for my burger medium-rare, but the bartender said the burgers are all "pre-cooked at well or medium-well" -- thus another reason our order should not have taken a half-hour to prepare! Lesson learned - we will not be going back to this dive. We warn anyone else who may be considering this place, prepare to wait a long time for service! There are a number of much better choices in the White Bear area for sports bar atmosphere and food. read more

We have been going here off and on for a few years. Wednesday April 6th asked for a menu, but after 30 minutes were never asked if we wanted to order food. Then had to beg for a 2nd drink as the bartender was too busy talking to the regulars. Very weak drinks and charged $5.25 for a lousy drink. Won't be back. Clean, small town feel, of course, but what else would you expect from a "roadhouse" tucked under a freeway? Medium to small size place with decent patio. Older retro bathrooms that have seen better days but add to the atomosphere. Typical mix of sports fans, bikers and suburban usual locals. Not so much a place to bring a date but more of a place for girls-night out or to catch game. Food & Drink: Limited selection but adequate sports bar food. Bloody Mary's (made with SlimJim) are favorite with regulars and came highly recommended so I ordered one... a little light on the vodka for my taste. On a 1-10 scale a solid 6 or 7. Service: ... doesn't seem to be a priority at Macaluso's. Unless the place is nearly empty one sort of gets the feeling that if you don't personally know someone on the staff it's likely you're going to wait and wait and wait. When they finally notice you they're fine. Music: Now that's a real hit or miss at Macalouso's. Small dance floor. Parking: Inadequade parking lot but plenty of parking along quiet nearby streets. read more

It's your standard, dated neighborhood "sporty" bar and I wish it was closer to home. Being in a wooded area right off the highway, it feels like you're up north. A little divey but friendly is about right. Unlike some other reviewers experiences, the staff served me fast, were attentive, and were pretty chatty. Maybe I just was there at the right time. The drinks are cheap, they have live music and a nice little patio. Pretty good food too. No complaints. I was surprised at how yummy the pizza is. It ticks the same boxes as a Carbone's or Pizza Man: lot's of gooey cheese, tangy sauce, spicy chunks of sausage, semi-thin crust, weighs five pounds, and of course- has a whisper of grease. In the land of 10,000 mediocre pizzas, this one doesn't need to apologize. read more

Its called a roadhouse. Need I say more. I have been here multiple times, if you are a local or a biker odds are you can get a drink successfully. But if not you can probably ferment your own liquor quicker than you could get a drink here. Discourteous, horribly understaffed, and if I dare say its a bit 'blue collar'. The atmosphere is very unforgettable as well. The entire bar is a smaller than my bedroom with a poor excuse for a patio on the outside. Parking isn't much better as this bar is usually to capacity and you may have to park a block or two away on the residing side street. Go somewhere else...or take up with a biker gang. read more

We went on a Sunday night just after football and Happy Hour was winding down at 7pm. It was rather a bit alarming at first as we walked in - this IS a bar that serves food. We landed a booth and looked over the menu. Server was running about cleaning up tables after the game but was friendly; giving info and suggestions to our queries. We got our drinks, placed our order for pizza - we had a Groupon deal for a 14" with four toppings for 8.00, and waited. It was a fairly long wait, at least 20 mins if not 30 (more likely) but the server updated us at 5 minutes out that the food would be up shortly. The place is loud. However, there are several large panel TV's through the bar and a larger projection size screen in the main area. The jukebox took over later on after the Simpson's finished. Almost everyone there outside of the staff still had their coats on even though it was comfortable inside - it was much like attending an indoor/outdoor keg at someone's house in a way without the fire and stars in the sky. See Dave F's review, he describes it very well. Its aptly named Roadhouse even though I did not see any pool tables. There are pull tabs and a few video games. The pizza was good. Quite surprisingly tasty when hot and fresh out of the oven and its appearance was much like the ones they use in their advertisements. Crust is more on the thin meets hand - tossed side, and the previous reviewer describes it well, not real thin, bit more hand-tossed but still thin. We ordered pepperoni, mushroom, green olive and tomato. We were going to get extra cheese but out server said there's a good deal of cheese on their pizza's already, so we abstained. All topping ingredients seemed fresh. The mushrooms and tomatoes were not canned (a plus) and the olives were typically salty. The sauce was balanced; tangy, sweet and just a bit spicy. We had plenty of napkins, water and a kit of silver ware, plates and sides including parmesan cheese and red peppers. Everything looked like it was reasonably sanitary and kept clean as best as a neighborhood bar can typically can be, so all in all, nothing unappealing here. They say the have a wifi available and there was some open unsecured connections being picked up in the area but I did not try to connect to them. You probably won't be bored, there's plenty of visual fodder for people watching if you enjoy that kind of activity. The menu prices were closer to inexpensive overall but the pizza's can run up to twenty dollars depending on size and number of toppings. I have another Groupon for the same pizza deal - and they have plenty of other five dollar food as well as happy hour and drink specials throughout the week, so we'll be back to give them more business. read more

This is the kind of place that I really want to like, but they make it almost impossible. It's a neighborhood dive bar: everybody knows everybody, and if you're not a regular it's quite obvious. We've visited a few times, but I think tonight will be the last time. It's too bad, because we're really fond of their pizza. But the pizza isn't good enough to forgive the hour-and-fifteen-minute wait to get it. The servers are nice, but spacey and slow. After bringing 3 of our 4 drinks, our server realized her error; then never came back with it. We had to go up to the bar to request it. We ordered 2 calzones and 2 taco dinners. 75 minutes to wait for a calzone is ridiculous, even more so when the server says nothing about it. When we finally received the calzones, it took another 20 minutes to get the tacos. Crazy. We had to share the calzones while we waited the other 2 dinners. This is pretty common--a similar thing happened at our last visit. Tonight, the 4 people behind us left just before their 3 pizzas showed up. It was hard to feel sorry for the restaurant and their wasted food. We should have taken their lead and found another place to eat. It'll be a miracle if this place survives without a major overhaul. read more

I have been to this establishment a few times and each time I have noticed how terrible the bar service is. The first time I went here I thought I would give them a break but after the fourth time, no thank you. We went there on a Friday evening with our son, daughter-in-law, and three grandsons. Absolutely awesome service - very attentive, charming, we were made very welcome even with young kids. Food was tasty, and tasted good - well prepared. They were great on the drinks too - kept us well topped up. All in all a great place to go and very family friendly!!! read more

Too long of time to get drink orders, take food order, take another drink order and extremely long time to get food. BEST PIZZA and BLOODY MARY'S in the Metro Area! We LOVE going to Macaluso's! One of the bartender's, Holly, is a FANTASTIC mixologist! She can create anything...FAST and she has a great attitude! The owner's are amazing, very friendly and accommodating. It can get relatively loud inside the bar once the sun goes down, so if you are not a fan of loud music, I recommend you arrive early. They often have live Music, which is a HUGE BONUS! We rarely see a band that we don't like here. Hands down, Macaluso's has the best Pizza, if not menu in the area. You won't be disappointed.
