Three night stay in Eagan... Three stops to Wildcats Bar ,& Grill...dinner, drinks & lunch just a friendly local stop...

I stopped by on a late Wednesday night during a 7-hour layover before flying home. I called ahead to make sure they were open late, and when I arrived just before midnight, they were still serving drinks and didn't close until around 1:00 a.m. The service was decent, especially considering there was only one bartender working. There were fewer than 20 people inside, and it had a true hole-in-the-wall neighborhood bar vibe that seemed popular with locals. It was the closest bar to the airport that I could find open that late, which made it a convenient stop during my layover. Unfortunately, they didn't serve food, so I ended up heading back to the airport and buying something from the vending machines after going through security. Overall, it's a good option if you're looking for a late-night drink near the airport, just don't expect a food menu. I gave it 3 stars only because no late night food and wasn't really busy. Also, side note: I was sitting at the bar, but there was a table behind me with a group of people in their 20s who were really loud and annoying. read more

Well known local place if you are at Eagan Minnesota. Decent drink and menu selection definitely a popular one. You got to try it, our server she is super friendly has recommended us few options. Our portions were huge, my gyro sandwich is pretty tasty and generous portion fries as well. read more

I've eaten in and ordered out from this place a dozen times. Some favorites include the chicken fingers, so good. I always get the boneless buffalo wings because their blue cheese dressing is to die for. However, never comes with celery, even though it's at the pic. The Greek salad with chicken is excellent. I also love their onion rings. The steak bites are pretty good, but the horseradish dip was great. French fries to go are never great, but they were very good when dining in. We love this local spot in Eagan!! We always have great service and even better food. They can be quite busy depending on the day; it's definitely a favorite spot for many people. Their buffalo chicken eggrolls are hands down one of my favorite items on the menu. We also shared the chicken Philly sandwich and a basket of fries - both were so good! Great little place for burgers and bar food, they also seem to have some good specials for items not usually available. everything we've had here in the last few years has been good, service is also good with a few exceptions. (One who refuses to smile but Tara M was the best server ever though, we hope she stays!) It can be very loud though, if karaoke or live music is there it gets too loud making it hard to hear and talk. read more

All around great experience. Friendly capable staff, delicious food, reasonable priced drinks. We benefited from Happy hour and my husband had the BYOB 1/2 pound burger special. He ate it all including the fries! I had the Baja chicken wrap and (large!) side of tasty coleslaw. The wrap was really great. Ambience is nice-clean, comfortable, not too loud. Next time we are in the area and staying at nearby hotel we will definitely be back! Outdoor space was inviting but too cool for that today unfortunately. read more

A fun place! Good food. Excellent service by Tiffany. A small, local bar. We stopped here on a Friday evening to have some dinner and drinks. It was fairly busy and pretty noisy with people talking. The football game was on as well. We ordered the Gyro Sandwich with fries and a Beef Taco Salad. Our food came out quickly. Large portions! Wow! Everything was delicious. We played pull Tabs and won enough money to keep playing. Ha! It was a fun evening out! read more

Next stop on #eaganrestaurantweek was this place. Being a die hard Eastview fan, it felt a little wrong to be in the Wildcat bar but whatever helps local businesses works for me. We started with cheese curds and beer. I had a Summit EPA. I opted for the burger with fried onions, lettuce and tomato. The onions were thin and sautéd perfectly. Burger was juicy and huge. Bun toasted. Really good. I chose tots for my side and they were so crispy and good. We also had a Greek salad with gyro meat, chicken street tacos and another burger and fries at our table. Everyone enjoyed their meals and beers. There was outdoor seating but we were inside. Servers all had masks. Tables were distanced. Lots of TVs so we were able to watch the Twins and the Stanley Cup. Good sports bar atmosphere. read more

I've gotten food from Wild Cats a few times -- I'm kind of a Juicy Lucy snob and I like theirs. Today though, my burger was just ehh and instead of their normal fries I got the garlic fries. They were legitimately the worst fries I have ever had. Ever. I figured that there would be some seasoning on them, not cold wet chunks of garlic. It truly was bizarre. So, I didn't eat those. My husband and I also got some wings to share and those were pretty good. I'm sure I'll order again or stop in, but for now I'm going to take a break from Wild Cats for awhile. read more

They have a nice outdoor patio and lots of screens inside; however the food is terrible. I should be able to get a better burger and fries than Wendy's and I cannot say that about this restaurant. I had a club sandwich that was barely edible. The tomato didn't taste like a tomato at all, the turkey was rubbery, the ham and bacon was super fatty and they left huge pieces of casing on the lunch meat. Nothing grosser than biting into a sandwich and getting huge pieces of chewy casing. They cut it up into 4 tiny squares with a long toothpick to hold it together. Well you can't eat it with the toothpick in and it falls apart without it. The fries tasted like they were cooked on old oil or oil that was too hot. Overall ate half my sandwich and a couple of fries and didn't feel great after. This place really needs to step up their food game. I get the impression that this is primarily a sports bar and they really don't care about the food. The commercials are super loud when the TVs are on. Blaring loud! I hope that they step up their game with food. Would be nice to have another place to eat around here. There are tons of sports bars but not that many good restaurants. read more

I am being generous with 2 stars, and only because service is at least decent. Their food is patterned after Greek food, but honestly it is pretty far from any Greek food I have had. The place is loud with the local drunks trying to out compete the music which is played too loudly. I won't be back. I was in town for a wedding and came here for the out of town supper that is tradition for out of town guests. Walking in there is a open kitchen to the left and a bunch of booths to eat on the right. We were in the back in another seating area which was full of my family's smiling faces. The owner started us off with rounds of apps: onion rings (yum) tater tots (phenomenal spices on them) Greek salad that was a great balance of lettuce, tomatoes, feta, onion and olives (it was really really good) and hummus (I loved the hummus, not too garlicky not too bland). They also had sides of homemade Ranch floating around that was so goo I wanted to shoot it but didn't want to cause a scene. Next massive platters of food started coming out! Lamb and chicken kebabs that were charred just a bit and the meat was tender (very difficult to replicate and remain consistent) atop slices of tender Gyro meat atop flavorful rice. I was in heaven. There were a few bowls of a garlicky whipped butter, a chimichurri like spiced sauce and a tzatzki (sp) that was cooling and delicious. It all just added to the layers of flavor and was a delicious tastegasm for everyone. The service was on point. We were a large group and all the staff was smiling and so kind. We went back a few days later because I had to eat here again before I left! People I was with got Juicy Lucy's that looked amazing. Shwermas were a delicious favorite as well as quesadillas, the menu here is really varied. I had gyro Nachos and they were so tasty, I had to take half home because it was so huge. I came here four times already : juicy Lucy, Gyro salad, wild cat burger etc,.... I even had a Chinese retired orthopedic surgeon when insisted on coming back again for the juicy Lucy. One time of the floor times food was ok, but all other three visits it was good food. read more

Today, I would like to talk to you about tater tots. I'm sure you're familiar with these nuggets of potato-love that your childhood caregiver baked from frozen for you, or perhaps you first experienced as an ingredient in a "hot dish" while attending an event in your local Lutheran church basement. I wish to go on record about these delicious morsels. First of all, if you have never had them deep fried, you haven't lived. Secondly, if you don't like them, it's likely because you're a potato-hating heathen or you've never had them deep fried. Yes, as I'm sure you've surmised by now, my first experience eating at this establishment included tater tots. Whoa ho, my friend, you have simply no idea. I fancy myself an intelligent bird, and observed "garlic fries" available on the menu. The light bulb above my head must have appeared more like a firework display going off when I brilliantly asked "Could I have my tater tots garlic-ified?". As you might have guessed, this was not a mistake. Golden brown, crunchy deliciousness smothered in garlic love. My life has never been the same. No tot could ever compare to these, and though I live in South Minneapolis, sometimes, I just have to make the pilgrimage to Eagan to pay proper homage to the Potato Gods. Oh yea, some of the other food is okay too. The buffalo chicken sandwich, the steak bites, the Saganaki (a massive portion of fried cheese that is flambéed tableside for you and served with pita) just to name a few. Or, you could just stop by and watch sports and have a few beers or something.. I mean, afterall, it is a sports bar. read more

The sign on the door said 'Cooks wanted. Day and night.' Ultimately, that summed it up perfectly. Most of the reviews here are positive, their web menu looked appealing, the burger prices seemed reasonable and it was close enough for a lunch run on a rainy day at 11:30. Let's explore! The atmosphere was great, it does look like a Vikings fan place (didn't care), the kitchen is open air along one wall and looks clean, great selection of tap beers and bottles, great arrangment of booths and tables, plenty of tvs to stare at, and decent music playing at a level we could talk over for midday. We order a couple pints of a local brew and check the menus. OK, the web site is out of date and prices have gone up a little. No prob, that happens. We order two burgers, done Medium, and wait. The place isn't super busy, they just opened a half hour ago. A few more people stroll in and order. We wait. We order another round of pints because the first set are gone and we're gonna need a pint with lunch. We wait. I glance over at the cook and he doesn't seem to be in the weeds, but someone comes out of the back and helps him. We wait. There's a line of 6 tickets hanging in front of him that he checks constantly. He seems a bit new at this game. That happens. Everyone has to start somewhere. We wait. About a half hour or more after we ordered, our hamburgers come up... along with everyone else's order that came in after us. I look over at the grill and his ticket rail is clear! Huh!? Hmm. Well, we're hungry and dig in. The burgers are standard frozen patties WELL DONE. Now we're starting to grumble. Forgotten items, bacon on someone else's burger, side condiments on my burger, are delivered. I'm hungry and eat it all. I've eaten worse. My lunch compadre is disgusted and pushes his plate away half eaten. We'll pass final judgement when the check comes. The tab comes and now we're both disgusted. 10 dollars for a well done mediocre burger and $4.50 for a pint of Grain Belt. In a strip mall in Eagan. Ouch. $40 for lunch. There are better ways to spend my money for lunch within swinging distance. Live and learn. So...every restaurant has less than stellar days/nights. People call in sick, menu items run out, the weather turns and everybody and their brother goes out to eat and then you're short staffed, equipment breaks down... I get it. I really do. I've spent many years in kitchens. I am generally very forgiving eating out, but after ALL the little things add up, it's too much. Oh well, we tried. Won't be going back to Wildcats. Just not worth another $20. PS, they're hiring if anyone is interested. read more

I went here with some coworkers for a much needed happy hour. I don't know how I missed this place before but it is in the strip mall with El Lori and NAPA store. They have happy hour specials with rail drinks being 2 for 1 and certain beers are $3 (think big name domestics). Our group was probably at least 10 people and service never wavered. What really impressed me was they split the check into separate tabs without a hassle. I did not try the food, but hopefully, when we have our next happy hour, I will. (Potluck day at work does not leave a lot of room for appetizers) . They have special on appetizers during happy hour which takes $2 off the normal price. I did pursue their menu online that night and it seems your standard bar food plus Greek fare. I noticed that they have Saganaki (Greek appetizer of breaded cheese that they light on fire), gyros and gyro nachos on the menu. It seems intriguing to see these items on their menu. Their decor is your typical sport bar decor, but I find that oddly comforting. I like a bar that doesn't try to overly pretentious. I look forward to going back. read more

A true joy to find the hidden one. Tucked away in a small strip mall in the middle of Eagan,MN is Wilcats. With public lot parking and seating for 75 in booths ans tables plus 14 seats about the bar there's no excuses to skip past this one and give them a try. My first impression was a bartender by the name George that actually shook my hand ..gotta love Minnesota. The next impression was a surprise. They had a large menu with appetizers lots of salads, burgers and sandwiches. But also steak and seafood choices along with Mediterranean cuisine! My food was clean, prepared well and tasted great. We so wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. Hubby & I went in on a Monday for dinner and sat at the bar. There was one other couple at the bar, but it was otherwise empty. Hubby ordered a burger, med-rare, with garlic fries. The fries were so overcooked, they were inedible...I mean, really bad, and his burger arrived med-well. I didn't fare much better with the chicken caesar salad. The chicken was dry & overcooked and the croutons just disintegrated, turning my salad into a breaded mess. I wound up eating the popcorn, which was, unfortunately, extremely oversalted. The bartender was nice enough, but there was a server hanging out at the bar. When she asked my hubby how his fries were, he told her they were overcooked. You think she would have at least apologized and maybe offered to replace them, but she just turned her attention back to her cell phone. Sorry, but we won't be coming back. read more

I'm a big fan of Wildcats' menu. There are a lot of items I enjoy, but I specifically love the gyro, the Philly cheese steak and the tater tots. Good burgers and wings, too. The main thing that gets a 5-star review from me is the owner and his staff. It's very important to them that everyone is treated well and feels comfortable and it shows. Enjoyed my Wildcat burger last night...even if they seem to have forgotten the bleu cheese (whoops). Side salad was well-prepared. Beer selection includes Odell's iPA and that is always a winner. I have a feeling this place comes alive around twilight. We were there at 6 on a Sat. night and it wasn't too busy. However, we missed owner, George because it was the fishing open. I noticed they have lunch specials during the week, gotta get back for those. Basil got the lamb kabobs and loved them. I already know how great the kabobs are because we spend Orthodox Easter with George and his family and the entire church. When we arrive he and his sons are grilling kabobs while 2 lambs are on a spit. Not for the faint of heart or vegan to see this spectacle. This is how we found out he was the owner of a bar we never heard of. We got the cheese curds as an app. Just the right amount of greasy and flavor. I ordered a french dip, I was kind of undecided. So as I'm eating and getting full on the curds, I'm regretting my order. I bite into the softest bun, best au jus, and tender slices of beef (for the cut they use). I totally forgot about being full, a first, and ate the whole damn thing save a few bites for Basil. I did restrain myself and boxed the plain tater tots, crunchy and delicious as well. They are sticklers for the bar food and throw in the awesome Middle Eastern home cooking as well. read more

One of my favorite spots in Eagan!! This cozy bar/restaurant is hidden away in a little strip off Yankee Doodle. The owner, George, is so fun and friendly and there is a lot of food variety! The hummus is my favorite!! Great happy hour specials, and friendly staff! Very forgettable! The food portions were very large, but the food wasn't good. We had the southwest egg rolls for an appetizer, which lacked anything resembling flavor. With 4 different variations of a gyro, I decided to try the gyro burger with onion rings. The onion rings were good, but what you would expect from any bar. The burger was cooked well, but the gyro meat was very dry, and like the burger, lacked seasoning and flavor. They also forgot to put cucumber sauce on the burger. My wife ordered the chicken pita (and had to repeat the order) but received the gyro. Like the burger it was dry and lacked flavor. All in all we were very disappointed, and have no interest in going back. read more

We called ahead and asked to reserve a table for ten. The manger was friendly and very accommodating. He thoughtfully had an extra table ready in case we needed it. The decor was basic sports bar themed. The drinks were fine and the food was good. We had a chicken Caesar wrap and a happy hour appetizer of steak bites. The wrap was tasty. I was not impressed with the steak bites, however. Our server was attentive and managed our bills and payments efficiently. The best part of Wildcats is that we could hold a conversation without straining to hear over the music and noise often found on Friday evenings. read more
