Went to St Paul Tap for the first time Friday. It was a fun bar/restaurant. They had lots of video games for the kids and adults alike. They have an outdoor seating space but not much to look at since its next to the parking lot but it's fresh air none the less. The service was attentive and quick. Plenty of parking. We went with the appetizer platter and supreme pizza and our friends ordered the pulled pork nachos and cheese curds. The platter came with fried pickle spears, cheese curds and tator tots covered in queso, applewood bacon and pico. They have an assortment of burgers, pastas, and salads as well as many other options. Happy hour is $2 off all apps and they have drink specials as well. Most importantly-they have the GOOD ranch dressing!

Major Roadhouse vibes here. Located just off the exit for 35E in St. Paul, big open parking lot, lots of space inside, bouncer scans your ID upon entrance, a space for arcade games and pool but no stage for live music. My sister has lived less than a block away for 15 years and tells me of drunken fights and gunshots being heard late at night... I'm from out of town and have visited my sister many times over the years but have never stepped foot inside. My curiosity finally got the better of me the other night while visiting again. It was a Tuesday night around 9pm so not crowded at all. We didn't have any food, but they had a nice selection of local beers on tap and we all had a few beers each. Our waitress was super friendly. So not as rowdy as maybe a Saturday night would be but overall we had a pleasant experience.

Great idea for a entertaining restaurant/pub. Kind of on the spendy side, with use of card, not quarters or tokens. Hot, hot, hot. Not sure if the A/C was broken but we were sweating. The game variety is interesting. Some of the games - felt like they were for kids but questionable. A stuffed toy hanging to be cut? A claw machine offering free White Claw from the bar? Maybe not kid appropriate. Some fun throwback games from 80s. The food is not great. We ordered a few apps - nachos, chicken tenders, cheese curds. We arrived at 6pm and spend a solid 2 1/2 hours playing and eating. 2 adults, 2 kids. Spent $60 on games and $40 on food (no drink). Jenga and connect 4 are 'free' but typically busy.

My sister came down to visit with her four kids (ages 7-13) so I was looking for a unique place to bring them that could feed us and entertain us at the same time. Less time at my place, less trashed my house gets =) I had visited St. Paul Tap in the past through a Yelp Elite event and decided to come back around to see how things have adapted. The menu was about what I remember, decent bar food and beer selections. The kids were interested in playing in the video arcade while we waited for our food. Food-wise, no complaints. Our burgers were juicy and flavorful and all of the bar snacks were ordered tasted great. I especially loved the deep fried pickle spears and BBQ Nachos, those were winners off of their menu and I would order again. Entertainment wise, there was a good mix of pinball machines and older arcade machines to keep us entertained for a couple of hours (eating included in that time). It was fun to teach the kids about some of the machines I grew up on at my local arcade. One of the girls didn't event know how to play pinball, I blame her mother on that! The only gripe I had when we went was the amount of parentless kids running around the arcade area. It seemed like a bunch of basketball and soccer teams were celebrating various things and the parents just let their kids run wild while they drank themselves happy. I witnessed multiple boys roughhousing and spilling drinks all over the arcade area while frazzled staff tried to keep up with them. Sad. C'mon parents, take control of your children for the sake of other people.

Ordered the sampler platter, drinks, Mac'n cheese, check pesto pasta. Everything was amazing. My wife is a connoisseur of deep fried pickle spears and these might be the best we've ever had. Wait staff is amazing.

Fun weekend spot!!! Was very impressed with the prices and specials here. The food was delicious for bar food. The staff was attentive and helpful. This is a hopping spot on the weekends so we ready for loud vibes. Overall a great spot to bring a group and hang out!

My wife and I were in desperate need of a solid burger but didn't want to go to any of the usual joints we frequent. Alas, that was when we thought of St Paul Tap. We see it almost every time we drive on 35E and have talked about going there. Last night we finally did! Atmosphere: 4/5 the games were great and not overly expensive. Plus we didn't want to play a ton after gorging ourselves with food and beverages Food: 4/5. The pretzels were absolutely delicious. Loved the mustard. Beers are always great and they had a good selection! My burger was truthfully, a 3.5/5. Still good and I'd get a different one next time! I got the taps original juicy Lucy and it was alright but a little over cooked. I loved that I could get chips and salsa as a side! I'm not a huge fries person so that rocked! Service: 4/5. It's a seat yourself place and the waitress was reasonably good! Can't complain nor were the wait times long. As a side note: the parking lot is actually kind of small. There is plenty of street and side street parking though. Just a heads up if you have a group of 5 or more and are driving separate. Overall, we'll be coming back here!

If you're in the market for a true sports & gaming bar with good bar food, you are very likely to be satisfied with a stop at St Paul Tap. For the longest time, I would merely glimpse the sign from 35E, and maybe spot the fully-utilized parking lot, and wonder what they had going on in there. And now I know! The new iteration of what was known as "Tav' on the Ave'" is a large neighborhood-y bar and restaurant with a ton of games. Pool, mega-foosball, mega-table-shuffleboard, mega-Jenga, lots of old and new video games and pinball machines, bingo activities, all that kind of stuff. More than I could even really take in. The games are what will dominate many people's impression of St. Paul Tap, and if you want to go to a place with lots of games options I think you'll be excited to come here. I've tried the build-your-own-burger and also ordered a unique creation of theirs, a Giardiniera burger. I'm not totally sure I'm spelling that right, but it was REALLY good! Huge and flavorful and spicy! So filling. The build-your-own situation is good too; plenty of options at a reasonable price (especially at lunchtime on weekdays). I've had their fries & tots, which were average, and I tried some of their chicken wings which were nice and crispy; their quality surprised me a bit. As part of a recent update, they put in a really cool outdoor seating section. Also, a sign indicates that they are overhauling the parking lot, which is probably a good thing although street parking will do when their lot is full. I think if St Paul Tap were looking for opportunities to improve, they could add some legit desserts to their menu and maybe step up their fried potato game. But I think they deserve five stars for giving their customers a lot of enticing reasons to come and hang out. I feel like some reviewers might be a little too haughty to offer a five-star rating to an ostensibly humble sports bar joint, but they are clearly working hard to excel in this space. I'll be back for sure!

How's the pizza here? Is it as good as a regular pizza joint? Pizza or burger?

I'm sure the pizza is probably fine. But the burger I had there was very solid. So if I were hungry it's what I'd go for.

My wife and I ate a pre-game meal with friends, and found the atmosphere to be crowded but friendly, with good bar food and a nice selection of drinks. We came about 2 hours before the start of the Wild-Blackhawks game, and the place was packed. It's seat yourself, and my wife was skillful in finding a very recently vacated booth for the four of us. Our waitress was very busy throughout, but pleasant enough, and got us our food as soon as it was ready from the kitchen. There are two different menus here, with a before game menu having similar items, but higher prices (definitely an example of supply/demand). My wife got Downeast Cider on tap ($9), which she really enjoyed. A French Dip sandwich with fries ($17) was decent, on a nice crisp/chewy french roll, with thinly sliced beef (pretty sure it's the same supplier for Italian Beef sandwiches). I got a Canadian Poutine ($14), which was great with the melted cheese curds and brown gravy. The fries were OK (the poutine would have been excellent with better fries). As a drink, I got a pint of Lift Bridge Mango Blonde ($8) which was excellent. Got to try some fried battered cheese curds, and they were very good....wish they had something like this back home. Tom Reid played in the NHL, playing mainly for the North Stars (when they were in Minnesota). He continued his association with Minnesota hockey by being the color commentator for the Wild. It is, without exaggeration, the best queso in the area. Their chips are also seasoned perfectly! For drinks, I used to ride hard for the Vallarta Margarita because cucumber margs are my favorite. But at La Costa, it's just a tad too spicy for my taste, not that it stopped me from ordering it repeatedly. Then I met the Mangonada Margarita. I am not usually a blended margarita girly, but this one is creamy, smooth, and somehow doesn't require the lung strength of a competitive swimmer to drink through a straw. As for food, I've eaten my way through a decent chunk of the menu. Some highlights are the Fish Tacos, the Ceviche, the Mole Enchiladas, and the Chimichanga. I tried the Camarones A La Costa recently and while they were good, I'm loyal to other dishes on the menu. The mole enchiladas pack heat. My husband, who loves spice, thinks they're incredible. The fish tacos are mild but flavorful. The ceviche is also a must if you love seafood. It's a really cozy moody interior, with *no big lights* aka great low lighting and comfy seating options. When we went, there were just a few other parties there so pretty quiet. I liked that we had a whole corner to ourselves with a sectional couch of sorts and some chairs. They close at 10pm on a Friday night, which felt absurdly early for a cocktail bar. But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.
