Having passed this bar a thousand times over many years, I decided to try it out. Since it opened in 1949, i guess I expected to be old & tired-looking. Quite the contrary. Light, airy (tall ceilings), very clear. I asked the bar tender what's their best sandwich. He instantly replied, "brisket" So I had one, along with two of the milder sauces he recommended. Quite good, as well as the fries that are available. The food menu is quite extensive - as are the beers on tap. Lots of "bar games" available. I liked this place and will return.

I work super close to this restaurant and have been called to dine here since I smell all the wonderful smells of their grill! I checked it out on the weekend and was presently surprised by how spacious the restaurant is and the vibe! It's very much a sports bar that you can come hang out with friends or family. The service was quick and nice! The food was good! I probably would not get their Mac and cheese again but the wings and fries were great! They have so many sauces to choose from so your wing experience may be different every time you come!

Having grown up in Texas, I know Texas BBQ well. Since this place claims to have it down, which is a fairly bold claim, I figured I would find out for myself. I liked the way you order: number of 6 oz. meat servings, choice of sides, and choice of sauces. I have to say, the selection of sauce choices was a little dizzying. There must have been 20. I just wanted basic sauces, so I picked Pete's Original, Spicy BBQ, and a 3rd one, some kind of bourbon sauce. I chose brisket, pork ribs, cole slaw, and baked beans. A quick rundown: - The cole slaw was pretty bad. I'm not sure why. The flavor wasn't very strong, but what flavor was there wasn't that good. - The baked beans were fantastic, some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommended. - The brisket had a couple bites that were superb, but the rest was dry and stringy. I was super disappointed, since the menu proclaimed the brisket one of the chef's specialities, which he brags about. Well, he'd better get it together if he wants to continue to brag about it, because great Texas brisket is NEVER dry. It is juicy and tender. You should be able to cut great brisket with just a fork (and a plastic fork if it's truly great), but I had to use a knife - and work pretty hard at it - with most of this stuff. - The pork ribs were very good. They tasted like they had a rub on them, and it was darn good. Definitely recommended. - The spicy BBQ sauce was excellent, just like sauces I've had all the time in Texas. - The Pete's Original sauce was weak and uninspiring. - The bourbon sauce was definitely not my cup of tea. I didn't like it at all. I hope they either improve the cole slaw or drop it from the menu (even though cole slaw is a BBQ staple). But if you can't get it right, get rid of it. And if they can get the brisket to be consistently juicy and tender, they will deserve 5 stars. I understand BBQ is not a common cuisine in the Twin Cities, so maybe I'm overly critical of this place. But they are the ones claiming to represent Texas BBQ, and if they will make some key improvements, their food can be on a par with great BBQ restaurants anywhere.

Bartender was totally fun and super fast to serve us on a Saturday night when we stopped in before a concert. Tons of beers on tap, and good cheap appetizers. We had a relaxing chill drink here and moved on -- but I'll be back in the future.

They carry an impressive line of Tap beers from all over the country and their kitchen backs its reputation with great quality food! The process of getting our table was great (they definitely know what their doing) and our server was amazing, but if you're planning to go on a Friday night during fish fry season, be prepared for a wait. It was $20 for all-you-can-eat fish, but the portion sizes were pretty big to begin with, so we didn't order any extras. For sides, you could choose between fries or a baked potato, and for an extra charge, you could get au gratin potatoes. The fish was good, but the crispness level was lacking on both the fish and the fries--that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. Parking is a bit chaotic. You'll probably end up parking on a side street and walking a little bit. I will say they have a gorgeous patio! It wasn't open for dinner but the tables were all out so we could sit there with our drinks while we waiting for our table which was a nice bonus on a 70 degree day. There's also a great outdoor patio and the back bar can open up, creating an indoor/outdoor space, which is great for nicer days! Even with how unbelievably busy it was, our server did a fantastic job. They stayed friendly, attentive, and checked in often enough that we never felt forgotten. The one letdown was the North Star nachos. They were decent, but definitely not something I'd order again. All of the chicken ended up piled on one side while most of the lukewarm nacho cheese was on the other, so every bite felt inconsistent. I was also hoping for shredded cheese instead of nacho cheese, and the jalapeños clearly weren't fresh. They still had a nice kick, though, which helped. Overall, I'd absolutely come back. There are two different menus here, with a before game menu having similar items, but higher prices (definitely an example of supply/demand). My wife got Downeast Cider on tap ($9), which she really enjoyed. A French Dip sandwich with fries ($17) was decent, on a nice crisp/chewy french roll, with thinly sliced beef (pretty sure it's the same supplier for Italian Beef sandwiches). I got a Canadian Poutine ($14), which was great with the melted cheese curds and brown gravy. The fries were OK (the poutine would have been excellent with better fries). As a drink, I got a pint of Lift Bridge Mango Blonde ($8) which was excellent. Got to try some fried battered cheese curds, and they were very good....wish they had something like this back home.
