I'm so sorry to be leaving this review and especially without any photos!…read more Racks has been a happy hour 'safe bet' for a while. It's close to the office, has a laid back vibe and the food has always been reliable. Our experience this evening was enough for us to say, "never again." Walking in - the first observation - mildew smell. I'm not sure if they're battling water in the restaurant or straight up, mold, but it wasn't pleasant. Secondly, our waitress... well, let's just say she had two MAJOR distractions. Her kids were spending the night with her at work! As 5-7 year olds typically are, they were antsy, running around and likely hungry. She was visibly frustrated at the situation and I genuinely felt bad for her, but this impacted our service in a BIG way! I will say, she filled our (relatively simple) orders accurately, but not timely. There's just better options. Oh! Unless you want to see butt cheeks, like full on buttocks (regardless of the time of day), I would avoid Racks on a professional dime.

The parking here can be validated or you can park in the free ramp and walk in. This place feels upscale but approachable. The seating was comfortable. And the lighting gave off the perfect ambiance for a date! The service here was outstanding! Our water glasses were never less than half. I didn't feel like he was hovering but he was also very personable! The smoked wings are a MUST! Some of the best wings we have had in a LONG TIME! They actually had a nice smoky taste! The popovers were light and the whipped honey butter was soooo good! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and tasted amazing! The fish and chips were light and crispy! The fries are fresh and made in-house! We couldn't decide on one dessert so we got the creme brulee and affogato. Both were spectacular!! If you haven't been yet, this is an absolute must!!

The JAWS pinball machine was hard to activate, but after bringing it quarters to eat it was ready. There is also a digital golf game next to it. The service is good - people are nice. It's what you would expect for a Midwest bowling ally and bar/eatery. The eating area is very spacious so you have plenty of places to sit. The menu has an overwhelming amount of choices, but when you are drinking it becomes more of an exciting fun house to navigate. I thought that may mean the food would be average, but it was DANG delicious bar food. We got the BLT that is stacked with bacon and it is definitely one of the best BLTs I've had in a while. However, the entire patio is smoker friendly, so there was cigarette smoke smell that wafted throughout the entire meal. When we initially sat down the entire table was covered in cigarette ashes and a full ashtray, but they cleaned that up before our food came. (After we asked two wait staff) Service was slow and we did not get drink refills during our meal. The food was good and on our appetizers (potato skins, and garlic cheese bread) they did not skimp on the cheese as both were covered in delicious melted mozzarella. Pricing was very fair for the amount of food we received as well. TL:DR- good food at a good price, but sub par service and a Smokey patio

The ceiling is decorated with mason jars, which gives the restaurant such a unique and charming feel. The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We came to try some Minnesota specialties, including the walleye. Unfortunately, the sauce served with it contains alcohol, so I wasn't able to have it. There wasn't an alternative sauce available, so I had the fish plain. I don't think that really did the walleye justice, so it wasn't my favorite dish. Some of the other items were also a bit hit-or-miss for my personal taste, but that's more about my preferences than the quality of the food. One thing we really loved was the adorable bakery and ice cream counter at the front of the restaurant. Grabbing ice cream before we left was the perfect ending to our meal. Overall, this is a beautiful restaurant with great service and a fun atmosphere. If you're looking to try Minnesota fare in a welcoming setting, I'd definitely recommend giving it a visit.

We ordered the Minnesota Sampler, which included hot dish, chicken pot pie, and pot roast, giving us a nice variety of local favorites. The hot dish was our favorite of the three. It's hard to go wrong with a dish topped with crispy tater tots, and we really enjoyed it. The chicken pot pie and pot roast were decent, but they didn't stand out as much. One of the dishes included blue cheese, and its flavor was so strong that it overpowered the rest of the meal. Overall, the food was good and gave us a chance to try some regional specialties, but it wasn't a meal that really wowed us. It's worth a visit if you're looking to sample traditional Minnesota comfort food, but we didn't find it to be an exceptional dining experience.

My NA drink had house grenadine that I was skeptical of in theory, but I trusted our server who promised it was not the sickeningly sweet stuff I was imagining. First off, going through the hidden Coke machine entrance is actually really fun and makes the whole place feel like a little adventure. The decor and speakeasy atmosphere are definitely the standout. Very cool space. VERY loud though. Like "lean across the table and say WHAT?" loud at times. The waitress was super nice and recommended a mocktail for me that called Ass in the Sand. It ended up being really good. It tasted like an elevated lemonade and was probably one of my favorite parts of the meal. Started with the rolls and whipped honey butter which were delicious. Very soft, warm, and honestly dangerous because I could've just kept eating bread all night. For the main meal, I did the Wagyu Burger with Parmesan fries. The burger itself was okay but surprisingly didn't have a ton of flavor outside of the grilled/charred taste. The Parmesan fries were actually the standout for me -- hand cut fries and parmesan fries are just hard to mess up. My partner tried the Mushroom Soup en Croute and wasn't a fan because the mushrooms were blended and he said it lacked flavor. He also had a Steak Taco special using their medallion steak and said even with lime it still needed more flavor. Finished with Crème Brûlée which is always a classic favorite for me and this one was good. Overall: fun experience, cool hidden entrance, great decor, good mocktail and bread, but the actual food menu is pretty limited and the flavors didn't totally wow me for the price. Glad I went and finally crossed it off my list, but probably a one-and-done visit for me.
