Finally got myself in here, and I'm glad I did. You enter the space through burgers and bottles, then walk through a door disguised as a vending machine. My first thought was holy bottles! There's tons and tons of bottles up and down the walls. The space is also smaller than expected, but we went in at 3PM as a party of 4 on a Sunday and had no problem getting seated. I ordered the Lost Footage and it was delicious (and strong!!). It came in a flask inside of a VHS case which was fun. I then got to pour it into my glass. Other members of my group got The Red Wedding, Pity Party, and To Your Health. My spouse and I shared the strip steak and the wedge salad, which we enjoyed. I would like to see some more food options in the future, especially since I'm already pretty limited due to a gluten allergy. However, I am excited to come back.
Met a friend for a drink on a weeknight. I started at the bar while I waited. They had a few cool cocktails and I asked many questions. The bartender knew her stuff. I ultimately got a paper plane. I moved and enjoyed the atmosphere and the big roomy booth. Service was great at the bar and the booth. Was glad I read reviews first so I knew how to find it :)
Our monthly happy hour hang out brought us to Volstead House this month to check out the snacks and sips! Plenty of parking available in the shared lot out front! Enter through the Burger spot and look for the Coca Cola machine! Once you enter Volstead House, you can't help but be transported into what feels like a Spirit Library. A huge accent wall lined from floor to ceiling with spirit bottles is the perfect back drop to this cozy hang out. Perfect for a date night, friend catch-up, or solo Whiskey adventure, Volstead House is a vibe! Pair the atmosphere with top notch, educated bartenders and mixologists...you know you'll be taken care of! We started with the A La Louisiane, a spirit-forward, whiskey cocktail with some funk from Peychauds and Absinthe. It was delicious and well balanced. We also shared the Glazed Carrots and the Parm Fries. The carrots didn't hit for me, as the glaze and sauce lacked a punch of flavor but the fries were crispy and delicious. If you have a spirit enthusiast or someone that likes to explore the world of cocktails, I think this is the perfect vibe!
Cool concept, we've never been to a speakeasy before so we were excited to try this out for a friends birthday. The vending machine door was captivating, never would've thought it would be tucked away inside a burger place. The vibes immediately were very cozy, there was barely any space for the 4 of us to even check in with the hostess. Unfortunately it was too busy here so there was a 30 minute wait. There were 4 seats open at the bar but the hostess said we couldn't sit there because it would block the walkway for the servers so that was a bit irritating so after that we left and headed to a different bar. Hopefully in the future we can try to come back and actually hang out here. It wasn't the vibe we were looking for on this night anyways.

The atmosphere always gives grown--dim lighting, moody energy, and the perfect setting to unwind after a long day. It fills up quickly, which says a lot about the kind of experience they offer. We tried the A La Louisiane, and it was smooth, balanced, and perfectly crafted--definitely a standout if you enjoy a well-made cocktail. For bites, the glazed carrots with orange, ginger & scallion were flavorful with a nice mix of sweet and fresh. And the house cut parm fries? Crispy, seasoned just right, and easy to keep reaching for. What really made the experience was the service. The staff was amazing, and Erica stood out in the best way--attentive, welcoming, and made sure everything flowed effortlessly. Overall, it's a solid go-to for a grown after-work vibe with good drinks, good food, and even better service.

I had the "PEARANOID SCHITZO" I would highly suggest ordering this drink and others! While the bar steals the spotlight, the food holds its own. I ordered the French fries, and they were memorable--crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned. Sometimes the simplest items say the most about a kitchen, and these fries were done right. Ideal for snacking with a cocktail or sharing at the table. Speakeasies are a new concept to me so I had to look it up! A speakeasy is a hidden establishment that illegally sells alcoholic beverages, during the Prohibition era in the US around the '20's and early '30's. It was a popular as a way to circumvent the ban on alcohol sales during that time. Today, the term can also refer to modern bars that emulate the atmosphere and secrecy of the original speakeasies. It was quite cool to walk through a "hidden" doorway to find this upscale bar with a posh vibe. The server was super friendly and very personable. We were celebrating our friend's birthday and our server brought us two different types of cakes! They were absolutely delicious. She was so sweet to do that for us! The cocktails were AMAZING! This was such a fun experience and we would definitely come again!
Always a great time at Volstead. I love to be able to get a cocktail, just the way I like it. Bartenders are great, skillful and friendly and the ambiance is intimate without going over the top.
Heard about this cute speakeasy from Instagram and was not disappointed! Definitely would plan to make reservations next time as we had to wait around 40 minutes for a table for 2 on a Saturday at 5 pm. It is a tiny place with not much seating so plan ahead if you are in a big. The speakeasy is behind a fake sofa machine door. Gorgeous inside with floor to ceiling rows of whiskey bottles. Their drink menu was vast but their food menu was pretty small. The burger and salad were excellent! My drink was just OK, for a specialty drink. I thought it would have more flavor. He also got a whiskey flight, which was fun. If you choose three whiskeys from the list, you get five dollars off your flight! Will be back!
I can't believe I have never been here before, but I loved it and will return. Volstead is a speakeasy cocktail bar in the back of a sports bar. The vibe is clear as soon as you step in the door. Counter to ceiling bottles of liquor. Cozy atmosphere, with a keyboard artist playing music in the corner. There weren't many tables open so we sat at the bar. I would highly recommend doing that. It was fascinating watching the bartender whip up a variety of different drinks. We enjoyed both of our cocktails. We had eaten next-door, so did not try the food. I cannot wait to go back.

Super fun spot at the back of the restaurant Burgers and Bottles! Everyone enjoyed their drinks and our server was super helpful with decisions. My NA drink had house grenadine that I was skeptical of in theory, but I trusted our server who promised it was not the sickeningly sweet stuff I was imagining. I am glad I trusted him- combining the grenadine with pineapple and lime too made it amazing. The fries were under-salted but the drinks, service, and atmosphere made up for it. read more

Finally crossed off Volstead House from my A-Z restaurant list, and honestly this one was more about the experience than the food for me. First off, going through the hidden Coke machine entrance is actually really fun and makes the whole place feel like a little adventure. The decor and speakeasy atmosphere are definitely the standout. Very cool space. VERY loud though. Like "lean across the table and say WHAT?" loud at times. The waitress was super nice and recommended a mocktail for me that called Ass in the Sand. It ended up being really good. It tasted like an elevated lemonade and was probably one of my favorite parts of the meal. Started with the rolls and whipped honey butter which were delicious. Very soft, warm, and honestly dangerous because I could've just kept eating bread all night. For the main meal, I did the Wagyu Burger with Parmesan fries. The burger itself was okay but surprisingly didn't have a ton of flavor outside of the grilled/charred taste. The Parmesan fries were actually the standout for me -- hand cut fries and parmesan fries are just hard to mess up. My partner tried the Mushroom Soup en Croute and wasn't a fan because the mushrooms were blended and he said it lacked flavor. He also had a Steak Taco special using their medallion steak and said even with lime it still needed more flavor. Finished with Crème Brûlée which is always a classic favorite for me and this one was good. Overall: fun experience, cool hidden entrance, great decor, good mocktail and bread, but the actual food menu is pretty limited and the flavors didn't totally wow me for the price. Glad I went and finally crossed it off my list, but probably a one-and-done visit for me. read more

We originally were going to Burgers & Bottles but when we entered we were asked by the host if we were coming to try Burgers & Bottles or Volstead and we ended up choosing Volstead, although we were a bit confused on where it might be located as we could not see another restaurant area when we first entered. So we were shocked when the host lead us through a hidden door into Volstead! What a great surprise as it opened up and was a very hip space. We came during happy hour so we chose to stick with that menu. We got dill pickle wings, Cajun wings, two orders of tacos, and the nachos. They were all really good and a good portion. We shared these amongst three of us. It was a super good deal and I would like to try this place out again in the summer when they have their big patio doors open. read more

Cute little 'secret' spot for a drink. They open at 3 most afternoons, so great for happy hour, or an after dinner drink with friends. They have a HUGE whiskey menu. Most of the bartenders are very creative and knowledgeable with spirits. They have a small wine/beer selection by comparison. The patio is pretty small, so fills up quickly on a nice day. Inside it gets SUPER loud, so it could be an awkward spot for a more intimate date. The food can be super hit or miss. The duck wontons are really good, but are sold individually at $5 each. I just think it's weird. Food is definitely on the pricier side for what you get. I guess overall you're paying for the experience and the mixed drinks, and those are pretty good. read more

Pros: Drinks Cons: Overall service Details: We didn't have any food so I can't speak to that. We came here to go to the speak easy. We got on the waiting list and it took a couple of hours. It seemed like other groups came later and got in, and when i asked (nicely), it seemed like we got talked down to. Once we got in the drinks were good. Not a fan of the overall experience. There was live music that was just ok. read more

It's a nice little speaky in the back of a burger/ bar joint. We had a great time. Our drinks were good, I would say they were a little more on the strong side. Their duck wontons were my favorite. We ordered a variety of appetizers and a charcuterie board, the jam on the board was spicy and oh so delicious! Our waitress was friendly, and committed. She ran to the gas station next door to get us something we wanted. They have a great variety of drinks to pick from. read more

They serve food here? It's a complete after thought. Ok sure there's a food menu, but chances are that's not what you're coming here for. Volstead is a speakeasy, an ode to the American prohibition. Sure I may not be a drinker by any stretch of the imagination, but what lies behind these curtains is nothing short of remarkable. It honestly feels like every liquor known to man is at your disposal. The drinks menu reads like an encyclopedia! Yes, that is your bartender on a 20 ft latter at the wall of endless liquor l.... All in all, this might be the coolest looking restaurant I have ever been to. From the lighting to the seating and decor, all meticulously thought out. Volstead transports you to a different time. read more

I was at Eagan Outlets and curious what there was around the area for a craft cocktail/cocktail bar. Volstead popped up and it looked intriguing. First off I will say that I'm glad google maps gave me direction after I arrived, stating to enter Burger and Bottles, and then through the "Red Door", very helpful. I stopped in with 2 other people just for a couple fun drinks and maybe an appetizer, and boy was I not let down. It was not busy at the time we visited (early afternoon), and was sat promptly by the polite hostess at the front. We got seated at a booth facing the impressive bar wall full of different liquors, that along with the other décor made it feel very warm. The waiter was friendly and provided information on some of the drinks I asked about. I had 2 drinks, 3 between the other 2 people I was with and we all said we would have no problem ordering them again. We ordered the Duck Wontons because I love that style of Wonton and it did not disappoint! Came out golden brown and full of flavor. My only gripe is that it should come with 4 or even 5 total Wontons, not 3. I will gladly stop back in when I'm in the area. read more
Good cocktails! Unique vibe- entering through the burger bar gives it the speakeasy vibe. Love the smokey aura entering the space. Great selection of cocktails on the menu, and they were willing to make me an off menu item. Lots of whiskey!! read more
Enjoyed this little speakeasy space. If you drive up only to see Burgers and Bottles, don't worry, you're in the right place. The space is dark and loud, like you could have probably expected an actual speakeasy of the 1920's to be. The loudness actually got to be a bit of a hindrance to conversation, but didn't stop my group from having a good time. They have an extensive drink list. If you're not sure what you might like, ask your server for a recommendation. I tried the Sideswipe (a different name for a Sidecar). That drink was superb. Also tried a few different apps, but my favorite was the pimento dip. Would love to come back in the summer and enjoy an evening outside. read more
