Honey, I Shrunk the Totoro

When you arrive at this distillery it may shock you. It is located in a shared building, but once you walk in the vibe completely changes. I had a chance to go to the limited, Taste of Japan menu and was enamored with the flavor of these cocktails. Each was unique and something that I would love to try again if they bring this menu back. They also had Wasabi Popcorn with the limited menu and I will order this any time I see it. A must!

We went to the Christmas pop up here and had the best experience! Located in a shared office building it felt like a cool secret modern day speakeasy walking into this distillery. The Christmas lights, lounge seating and vibes were all perfection. The drinks had the most adorable presentation and tasted great! The service was attentive. We were even served hot towels! They have their own parking but we did have a reservation. Their Christmas pop up was super cool. We'd totally come back!

This is our favorite cocktail room in the Cities! We've been a handful of times, and you just get so much that you aren't expecting from this spot. The weirdest location, the inventive menu, and an interior perfect for a casual drink or date night, you really can't do better! Plenty of parking available outside this building. Don't be alarmed, this tasting room is in the middle of what seems to be an office building. Just follow the signs and you will be transported to a one of a kind tasting room. I don't want to spoil anything because part of the experience is entering this spot and taking it all in...but just know that it's intentional and beautiful! The service is always top notch and they know how to check all the boxes. The drink menu is QUITE inventive and always changing. They aren't afraid to take risks and challenge your understanding of the art of the cocktail. My greatest recommendation is to pick a spirit you enjoy and let the team recommend the best! You won't be disappointed! Can't wait to continue to explore the magic that this place dreams up!

Drinks are great! They get better each time I've come. This was my third time. This place has that speakeasy element of mystique because it's located in an office building where everything is closed. Behind an office door is this dark, cozy bar. There are cool nooks inside. They distill their own liquor so the pot stills are a nice touch. They play good music too. Bar tenders are cool and easy to chat with. They do a great job making craft cocktails with super unique ingredients. Love this lil Japanese snack mix they put together too. They have a couple of other snacks to hold you down. They have a laser cutter so they do their own branding, like in coasters and stencils they use to make awesome designs in the drink, like the Skaal sour I had. The beet powder gave it a beautiful aesthetic but also boosts the flavor profile. I love those kinds of touches.

Obsessed with this place! They have very limited seating so make a reservation. It's fun to walk through the halls to the entrance, it feels like a speakeasy. They have excellent drinks and a fun atmosphere- it's really cool to see the stills plus they decorated for Halloween when we went. The bartenders are great and we loved our drinks. My favorite was the walken pig- which has smoked Hmong pork belly infused vodka, um what?! Just trust me. It's absolutely DEVINE! Just go here!

@skaalvenndistillery in Brooklyn Park, Mn. I've been here several times but it's been a hot sec since my last visit. Trust me, every experience is new and rewarding. The work, creativity, flavors, and cultural integration that goes into each cocktail makes the experience so memorable. I will say, the on top, is the interaction with the staff every time I go. If you want a unique first time experience, that will make you want to keep coming back, check out Skaalvenn! @tysonschnit and @mrs.skaalvenn are the passionate and amazing owners/distillers. Through the years @metaldave77 @ragealienmixology and @chase.heck.5 have made each experience more incredible! They have an assortment of cocktails, n/a cocktails, bar snacks, bottles of their spirits to go (also in stores), and merch! I picked up a bottle of their Habanero Rum! Cocktails: Special from @chase.heck.5 - "Corvo Bianco CPT": vodka, lavender syrup, grains of paradise, gooseberry, lemon, lavender smoke @ragealienmixology describes it well in the last video. A tribute to Yennefer from the Witcher series. Special from @metaldave77 - "Draugr": cranberry, aquavit, habanero rum, tepache, lingonberry, tart cherry, orange juice, cranberry juice A wonderful Mexican-Norwegian fusion cocktail Can't wait for my next visit! #skaalvenndistillery #supportsmallbusiness

Don't let the industrial park location fool you--Skaalvenn Distillery & Cocktail Lounge in Brooklyn Park has got to be one of the Twin Cities' most unique and impressive bar experiences. It's a true, high-end speakeasy that transports you the moment you step inside. One moment you are in a boring office building then you transport to an atmosphere that is intimate, dark, and beautifully designed. I especially love the service and their dedication to presentation and mixing unique flavors. Important Tip: Because of the cozy size and high demand, reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends, to ensure you get a seat in this exclusive spot! Sometimes you can get lucky and get a walk-in but I strongly encourage reservations. One other thing, the music selection was great; went along with an already impressive vibe.

Very knowledgeable staff! They were super helpful with the menu that had a lot of uncommon ingredients for our area. Although located in a seemingly odd location, stepping through that door felt like entering a whole other world. Our drinks were excellent and it was a perfect chill vibe for our night. Absolutely will be going back.

This place is killer, every time I've visited. The environment if you're in before the music cranks fits that of the perfect date night, dim lit and intimate. After the music starts? Exactly where you want to be at night. They have all the right vibes going on. The bartenders and staff are killer. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and the service is quick. The drinks? They have all the staples, plus some really awesome rotating signatures. I love classics such as their old fashioned, and signatures such as their bam bam fruity pebbles inspired cocktail. Make sure to make a reservation as she gets packed. Get ready for the vibes, and try all the fun things!

This place is the real deal. The cocktails are SPECTACULAR and the employees are all great. I've been many times, and its always the same couple of guys behind bar with a big smile.

If you love a fancy cocktail, this is the place for you. I got their version of A whiskey sour and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. The bartenders were fantastic and the place wasn't too crowded. It's very unassuming, tucked away in an office building, but then you walk in the door and you are transported into a mood lit, velvet lounge.

Notorious RBC and yes that's a real brownie on the side

Another 5 star visit to my fave distillery ***** Nice to see some new cocktails listed Notorious RBC was interesting for me as I'm not a Bourbon drinker and I discovered if you let the ice cube melt just a little it tasted soo good and not so strong. Nice touch with the brownie bite in between sips And of course I still stand on the Espresso Martini is the best I've had yet in the cities- they make all the ingredients in house including their Khalua and the special touch must be their coconut fatwashed vodka! Sounds insane but it's epic!!! Some friends tried the spicy daiquiri which is made with their habanero rum - so that should give you a hint that it's spicy!! it had a really good flavor but too spicy for me to enjoy ,so make sure you check with the staff about all the ingredients in the cocktails before you order :) Ambiance is always on point ,great vibe moody lighting and old skool tunes The staff here are all friendly helpful and knowledgeable , I love coming here

Are children welcome?

I'm not sure on this, but it isn't a place I personally would feel like bringing my kiddos. It's dimly lit,, kind of romantic kind of atmosphere.

Can you bring in your own food/snacks?

Yes!

The dark wood tones and dim lighting is very cozy. There is a nice patio just off the parking lot but it was a bit drizzly so we elected to sit inside. The bar looked like a great place to sit and dine but we were grabbing lunch so decided to sit in one of the booths. The booths are all divided by glass and plants which makes for a quiet and private dining experience. Our server Courtney was pleasant and attentive. I like the menu as it didn't have a huge selection. Simple and a nice variety of apps, salads and entrees. My husband and I both ordered the Filet Mignon Cobb salad. $26. Bacon, egg, blue cheese crumble, corn, tomato, red onion, smoked onion ranch dressing. We both thought it was refreshing and tasty. The smoked onion ranch was delicious. If we are ever in the area, we will stop in and check out the dinner entrees.

I ordered a grill cheese and got to choose the types of cheese as well as the side (I got fries). Inside was definitely dark and moody, with decent music. There wasn't a single customer in the building and it looked like there were only two employees (a server and a cook). There was a sign that said they were short staffed, so that made sense. I ordered the grits with eggs and bacon. I was glad to see that the grits were a true stone-ground grit and they had some pepper jack cheese mixed in them. I asked the egg to be fried hard (I know, as a goodie it's a shock that I don't like runny yolks), and they did exactly that. I thought my meal was pretty good and I would definitely go again.

This restaurant is relatively new and it's located in the shopping center, off of highway 55 (near the Cub) in Plymouth. I was impressed at how clean and attractive it was. We were there early for dinner and the place was almost empty. The menu has the usual Mexican dishes, so we ordered our go-to's so that we could compare them with other local Mexican restaurants we've been to. I have to say we were impressed. Another test for me is the quality of the pico de gallo salsa that comes with the chips. The salsa was clearly superior to most of the restaurants I've been to. The chips were excellent too. My wife had the street tacos which come with a choice of: Steak, Grilled chicken, chorizo (spicy pork sausage), Shredded pork (carnitas), Ground beef, Pastor, Shredded beef, Shredded chicken, Birria, and Nopales (mexican cactus)/queso fresco. She declared hers to the excellent. I had the chicken fajitas and they were prepared very well prepared and came out sizzling hot. I was impressed. The service was very attentive and they refilled my pop and the salsa, without having to be asked. Next time, I will branch out a bit and try one of their many other dishes.
