Such a great find in maple grove! Loved walking in to such beautiful decor, the lighting definitely caught my eye. The bar also got my attention with all the bottles on the wall! Plenty of seating although it seemed like a lot of the tables were very close to each other so not much privacy unless you are in a booth. Loved the individual bathroom stalls, very clean and private. The food was amazing!! We didn't know what to expect here but the food was cooked to perfection, shoutout to the chef for making the noodles Al dente, especially the rice noodles. Being Asian I know how hard it can be to get the right texture for rice noodles but they were perfect! Flavors were incredible. We really wanted to give Grackle another chance, but after two visits, I don't think we'll be back. Our first visit was a few months after they opened. My husband and I brought our two young kids on a random afternoon around 2-3pm. We weren't dressed up, but we weren't dressed inappropriately or overly casual either. The service was honestly some of the worst we've experienced -- lots of attitude, and we left feeling like we weren't exactly the type of guests they wanted there. Keot walking past us when we would call someon they wouldnt come. The food was mediocre and so unmemorable that, a year or so later, I couldn't even tell you what we ordered. The one thing we did enjoy was trying the different sauces. Enough time had passed that we decided to give it another shot. This time we went around 4pm on a Thursday and dressed up a little more. Right away, the host seemed annoyed that we didn't have a reservation, even though it was early and there were still plenty of empty tables. It was an odd way to start the experience. Thankfully, our server this time was wonderful friendly, helpful, and a complete change from our first visit. The food runners were also attentive. Unfortunately, the food itself was the biggest disappointment. The gochujang wings barely tasted like gochujang. There were so many other flavors going on that the gochujang seemed completely masked, and the wings weren't crispy at all. One of the kids' chicken tenders came out cut in half, which I'm assuming was to check that it was cooked through. Not necessarily a huge deal, but it was strange presentation. My husband and I both ordered the Caribbean chicken sandwich, and neither of us enjoyed it. It was dry, didn't have nearly enough sauce, and the pieces of slaw were way too large for the sandwich. I paid for extra sauces that never came, and my husband received the wrong sauce. The fries were good, and the service at the table was much better this time, but that was about it. After two visits at very different times, we've had essentially the same takeaway: Grackle has a cool concept and the sauces are fun, but the food just hasn't lived up to what we expected for the price. Our second experience also confirmed that our disappointing first visit wasn't just opening-month growing pains. Finally tried this place in Maple Grove- they took over the space that used to house the old Whalburgers and what an improvement! First off inside is pretty nice , spacious with lots of seating and green plants and lighting There is a decent bar area with bar stools and high tops We got seated right away in the bar area without a reservation so that was great The host was super friendly as was our young server- she explained it's a scratch kitchen and craft cocktails so everything is made in house Cocoktails to start were the Lavender Haze and their Boulevardier- both were good around $14 each Apps- yellowfin tuna stacker - this was really tasty , light and refreshing , palate of 4(see photo) We ended up sharing the Chimchurri Coulette Steak served with smashed potatoes and asparagus This was good but too much Chimchurri for me and the actual meat lacked flavor I did however love the potatoes and asparagus and the Chimchurri aioli!! Visited over lunch on a Friday. The parking lot was packed but we were seated right away. They let us know the menu had recently changed and shared their recommendations. I opted for the Caribbean Fried Chicken Sandwich which was the perfect balance of sweet and heat. Sometimes I don't love pineapple on sandwiches because they can be overpowering, but this was a welcome addition. The chicken was hot, juicy, and had a nice crunch. The fries were meaty and crispy. I love their list of unique sauce options! We tried their homemade ranch and sriracha honey lime. Both went great with our fries. I tend to order burgers while in travel and the Perfect Storm completely clew me away! Amazing flavor, perfectly cooked and the ideal bread to meat ratio. Had a lunch meeting with NBC's John Ziegler (Minnesota's best meteorologist) and we decided to try Grackle. The vibe is great--such a noticeable upgrade from the previous tenant but honestly, the food is even better. We ordered the tostada salad with spicy shredded chicken and the steak wrap, and both were outstanding. They've also got a really solid drink list, but since it was a lunch meeting we kept it simple. I have passed this place sooo many times since it opened and decided it was time to give it a shot! So glad we did! There is plenty of free parking! I would recommend getting a reservation. Our server was Ximena, while a little difficult to understand once in a while due to her accent, she was amazingly attentive and did a great job spacing the appetizers with the meals. One friend ordered the steak & eggs and another friend ordered the Asada chilaquiles, and the steak temps got mixed up between the two, but both friends really enjoyed their meals. The wild rice soup was ordered by 2 of the friends, and they both said it was thick and very filling and luscious. I ordered the strawberry bacon jam burger, cooked medium. It was spot on perfect, juicy and so tasty and flavorful. They make everything in house, including the strawberry jam! We also ordered the Creamy Serrano pasta and added grilled chicken. This dish is spicy and mouthwatering and craveable.... I want to go back and get it again! A bit on the expensive side overall, but a treat, nonetheless. Walking in I was marveled at how chic this restaurant looks. I was able to get a seat at the bar right away. Service was great checking in frequently. I decided to do mango everything and it was the perfect pairing. My drink of choice was Unwritten (by Natasha Bedingfield), it was light, sweet, and refreshing. The Mango Shrimp Tacos were beyond unique. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, with a lot of spice. The mango, toasted coconut slaw, and honey-lime aioli helped tone the spice down a bit but added to the overall flavor of the meal. I will get this again and again! The place gets busy very quickly. My friend opted for couple of appetizers. She got the Mango Shrimp tacos with toasted coconut slaw, diced mango, fresno peppers and Sriracha honey lime aioli and the Elote dip which came with housemade tortillachips. I was in the mood for a burger so ended up getting the perfect storm burger with Monterey cheese, Bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion and Calabria chili aioli on a brioche bun. We both loved the food. Ended up getting the Mango coconut cheesecake for dessert and it was to die for. It's a must try if you are a cheesecake fan. Grackle's new summer menu has been so good that my mom and I have already been back twice in one week! The standout dish for us is the Peanut Papaya Salad. The dressing is absolutely incredible, and every ingredient is beautifully julienned so you get the perfect combination of flavors and textures in every bite. The Summer Stracciatella Salad was also delicious and packed with fresh fruit and creamy cheese, though the dressing was a bit thick. We were told they're still fine-tuning the recipe, and we're excited to see how it evolves. Some of our longtime favorites that we keep coming back for are the Yellowfin Tuna Stacker and the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. Everything at Grackle tastes incredibly fresh, and the scratch-made sauces and dressings really set them apart. Highly recommend checking out the summer menu. This was our first visit. We started with the creamy Tuscan dip and chicken wild rice soup. Dip was good and came with a huge portion of bread but the portion of dip itself was a little small given the $15 price. Mango shrimp tacos had a nice spice and they tasted good but again though there was 3 they were very small. We also had the smash burgers and the perfect storm burger. Perfect storm was the preferred burger. It was a huge size and had a nice spicy flavor. We didn't care much for the sauces we picked on the side but they weren't extra so no big deal. Service was good. We went on Halloween night at 5:00 and it was surprisingly pretty quiet, wasn't much of a vibe. There was still lots of parking available as well. Quality of food is good but it is a little to spendy to visit frequently. read more
