Houlihan's in Eagan has become one of our favorite family spots. We used to love going to the Richfield location, so when it closed, we were happy to find that the Eagan restaurant offers the same welcoming atmosphere and consistently good food that we enjoyed for years. We landed in Minneapolis hungry for lunch and chose Houlihan's in Eagan because we had enjoyed other Houlihan's locations, including one in Dallas. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. We started with the Firecracker Shrimp, but the shrimp tasted as though it had been frozen for a long time, stale and not fresh. The sauce barely coated the shrimp, which was served on a bed of lettuce. For my entrée, I ordered the lunch special with a half salad and half Southwest Chicken Wrap. The chicken was plain white chicken with absolutely no seasoning or flavor. The wrap appeared to contain chicken, pepper jack cheese, and a tortilla, but nothing about it tasted good. My husband ordered the Salmon BLT, and his salmon was also unseasoned and lacked flavor. Overall, the entire meal was extremely disappointing. Based on our experience, I would not recommend the Houlihan's in Eagan. read more

Placed an order for pickup on August 29th. I ordered a French dip and 2 salads. Got home and there was no French dip. The salads which are usually very good, where terrible. The croutons were soggy and the bacon bits were super soggy. We actually couldn't hardly chew the pieces and we spit them out and the lettuce was soggy. We live a couple minutes away from the restaurant so that didn't cause it and we have picked up the same order several times before and it was great. Not sure I will ever eat there again. read more

Came in a party of 6 on a Thursday in the late afternoon. Seated us quickly. Clean space. Fairly quiet. Service was good though our waitress forgot to submit one persons order, it was quickly caught and remedied. Most at the table had burgers and they said they were good. I came here with my wife recently for a quick date night opportunity. We were in the area and looking for something fresh and new than just our same old haunts. I used Yelp to figure out what was around us and immediately, the well priced drinks caught my eye. Not inventive or extremely unique, they still sounded tasty and the price was right so we decided to come here and try out their menu and location. We were able to sit out on the patio which overlooks a small man-made pond. I never knew this was tucked away behind the building. The location ended up becoming a pleasant patio oasis in the endless sea of a suburban parking lot. The interior of the place reminded me of a more upscale Granite City or Green Mill. On to the food and drinks! My wife and I decided to share a martini flight and tried a couple unique flavors - key lime pie, passionfruit, and chocolate espresso. The drinks each had great flavor and were unique. I will say that we could tell these had been sitting for a bit so lost some of their presentative flair. Still tasted good! For the food, my wife tried her normal menu selection of scallops and this places dish did not disappoint. My wife kept going on on how much she enjoyed her dish. I snuck a bite and the scallops were cooked perfectly and it was very good. For the price, the serving size was very generous in terms of how many scallops you got. I, on the other hand, went with a seasonal salad. It was a Green Goddess Cobb salad and it was very good. Huge portion topped with grilled salmon. The dressing was homemade and married all the ingredients together. I had leftovers because it was such a big salad. While we were leaving, a table towards the entrance caught my eye. They had an assortment of appetizers that looked very good - wings, cauliflower bites, and some shrimp. We will be back to sample the apps. Great find in Eagan. read more

Well: food flavor. Service. French onion soup: a classic for more than 35 years, never disappoints. Not so well: soup and entree were brought out at the same time. How do you keep your steak hot while eating your soup? Not possible. Steak was taken back to be under warming lamp: failure. Asparagus should have been hot; nope, ice cold. What should have happened: server should have asked if soup needed to come out first (although that should be understood), chef should have recommended for soup to come out first and then steak. When steak was returned, a new one should have been cooked. Asparagus should have been warmed up. Suggestion: make sure you tell your server in what order you want your food to be served. Stopped in mid afternoon on a Saturday. I ordered the house salad with blue cheese crumbles and French onion soup. My waitress and other staff were really great... although I had to wait for my check. The salad was good except for the blue cheese dressing which was mayo or miracle whip with blue cheese mixed in.... It really ruined the salad. It should have been made with mostly sour cream. The soup was very hearty, but overly salty and the broth was not so good. I cannot even put my finger on the flavor, but not beefy. The croutons tasted very stale. read more

Dinner at the location in Chanhassen prior to attending a show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. Was a guest of my cousins. The food did not disappoint. Most of our part of five ordered the Happy Appy hour apps. What I tasted was delicious. We had the nachos, mushrooms, and potstickers. For dinner I ordered the Meatloaf No. 9. Mashed potatoes covered with a huge portion of meatloaf and a red wine sauce. French-style onion rings on top and green beans on the side. I have a weakness for meatloaf and this did not disappoint. My cousins split the seared Ahi tuna appetizer. One other person at the table ordered the wedge salad. My dinner was large enough I brought the leftovers home for Saturday lunch. I'm told there aren't too many locations for this small chain of represent in the Twin Cities, but if come across one of them I'll definitely be in there to dine with them again. read more

Very disappointed. Ordered a $33.95 steak medium well and waitress came back 10 min after it had been sitting there and asked if we needed anything else. I asked the waitress if they could throw it on the grill for a few more minutes - another 10 minutes went by and she brought it back saying the plate was hot from being "reheated" basically it was put in the microwave and was still rare & everyone was already done eating at our table. I just left it sit there without eating. Very disappointed in the waitress that she didn't even offer a resolution or check on us early in the meal. I feel like I was robbed of $30! The before side salad was basically shredded lettuce for tacos. Unappealing. Won't be back and again very disappointed that I paid for something that was clearly not done. read more

Houlihan's in Richfield used to be our go-to spot for happy hour until the pandemic took it out. I'm so happy to have the Eagan location - deja vu all over again. We meet with friends on an occasional Sunday afternoon for apps and happy hour drinks. The food is consistent so you can count on the fact that it will be good and what you expect. The service is ALWAYS amazing. Our server this past visit was Jay who was friendly, professional, and fun. The couples at the table were scattered all over yet he figured out who came with whom and got it all right! He is one of the few servers who actually asked for my ID as required by the notation on my credit card. That's a boost in tip to start with - added generously for the excellent and enjoyable service. On the table was potstickers, firecracker shrimp, and mushrooms. I LOVE Houlihan's entree, it's a salad with steak (steak salad) but it's really like a steak dinner but it appears as a steak salad on the menu! The salad is the perfect fresh mixture with some veggies on it. The steak is on the side and it's like a fillet minion and you have it cooked to your desire and you cut it up and eat it with your salad. Then it also comes with side of warm cubes veggies, like a mixture of potato and squash and so on. It's just delicious. I get it EVERY TIME. The restaurant is always clean and well presented and the host greets you warmly and the server is on point!! I have eaten hear a couple times with my family. This is a very nice place with good food and service. This place is a bit pricier than the norm but worth it if you have the money. We have tried several dishes here and they have all been a hit. Nothing to complain about. I made sure to take pictures of the different menus and happy hour specials. I like the 2 for 1 wine special. The chicken parm that me and my wife split was delicious. Don't judge the splitting of meals. I am down 118 pounds from where I used to be and I am still pretty strict with my diet until I am done cutting fat. The Tomato soup is a good light choice, it was very good also. It makes me sad to write this review but when I used to go to Houhilan's in Richfield before it closed, it seemed like the food was much better. We arrived on a Wednesday night around 7:00 or so and received less than a warm welcome at the hostess stand. Thankfully our waitress was cheerful and welcoming. I ordered one of the new specials "Huli Huli Chicken w rice and vegetables" that I had eyed on a photo poster as we entered and it looked SO GOOD!! My dinner companion ordered a gf flatbread sausage pizza ( we used to love these back at the Richfield location ) and shared a house salad. Server never asked if we wanted the salad prior to the main, ( which would have been my preference) so everything came at once. My Chicken dish barely resembled the photo on the poster....barely any char grilling on the chicken, and the rice and veggies were completely soggy as if they were prepped hours ago and just sitting in a pot waiting to be warmed up and served. Heavily over sauced in Soy so super salty! I called the waitress over and apologized but told her I just couldn't eat it for a a number of reasons. She was "awww no problem, I'll get you something else". Grasping for a quick idea I ordered the gf sausage flatbread pizza. Big mistake....the outer crust is crispy but the enter inner crust is wet and soggy. I ate some because I was hungry but it wasn't a pleasure to do so. I just couldn't send the second dish back. So $52 w tip for a pretty sad meal for two and the only acceptable things were our Stawberry Basil Lemonades and our one salad we shared. Looks like a "do not return " kind of meal I'd say. Hesitated a bit before going in after reading some recent reviews but all the negatives were service related and we weren't in a rush so we decided to take our chances. Very glad we did! Our service was excellent! Our server, Mike, was very attentive without being instructive. I had the salmon dinner which was excellent. My husband had the KC Burger with sweet potato fries and horseradish sauce which was also excellent. We had spicy chicken and avocado egg rolls for an app, also very good! The timing between the appetizer and dinner was great... enough time to enjoy the appetizer before dinner arrived. We were probably on the very early end of dinner, arriving at 5 on a Saturday. I have friends to come here often, How come they've never invited me? They've been trying to hide this from me. This place is wonderful. For the appetizers you have to try the stuffed mushrooms. They make these themselves fresh from scratch! They stuff them, batter them, and deep fry them while you wait. Then they serve them to you piping hot. Pro tip: do not bite into these the second they are delivered to your table. You'll burn your mouth on the hot gooey insides as it rushes into your mouth. I found the best thing to do was cut them in half and then eat them. That makes much less of a mess. It was Sunday afternoon when I happened to stroll in and discovered it was two for one taps happy hour with discounts on appetizers. Happy Sunday! The inside looks like an old Irish pub creating a warm welcoming environment. You'd think everyone knows your name. If you're into sports this place has you covered there's lots of TVs. While inside I did take a peek at the dining area and that looks like it is a very fine dining restaurant.
