Cute atmosphere. I like the fun art and frames all over the walls. Quiet on an early Saturday afternoon. The booth seating was good for a little date, and without the restaurant full of people it was perfect for chatting. It was a little spendy, but nice every once in a while. Nothing so fantastic that will keep me returning again and again, but I enjoy the setting inside. It feels cozy. Delicious food and cute restaurant! It is on the louder side inside, and it's located at a strip mall so there is plenty of parking available in the lot. -- The cauliflower burnt ends were perfectly charred and the sauce was sweet and tangy. It comes with a generous amount of sauce, so you may want to ask for the sauce on the side if you don't like too much. -- The vin rose pasta was great! Make sure you add a meatball -- so good! -- The fried chicken slider was bland -- I'd skip this one. -- The caesar salad dressing was savory and bright. -- The spritz flight came with 3 full-size spritz cocktails and was refreshing. -- Service could use some work as multiple things were forgotten and we were not provided with an itemized bill, or told how much our bill was before our card was processed. read more

Visited 9/30/26. Were able to do an easy walk in at 4:30 on a week day. Gotta give the biggest shout out to this happy hour-it is one of the best around and I would lean more towards doing that minus meals. With that being said, on this occasion I got the happy hour spritz and my friend got the wine. We ordered broccolini to share and each got a pasta dish. They gave decent portions for the price point and everything tasted fine. Nothing was like blow my mind amazing and that's why I would likely stick with the happy hour, but service was great and the meals did the trick for eating. read more

great ambiance, food, and service. one of the top spots in the southern burbs and a good place to try if you haven't been there.

One of our go-to spots for date night or happy hour! The owners are always so friendly and welcoming and truly make it feel like home. Do not miss an opportunity to order something off the specials list--we've never been disappointed. And the cocktails are a whole other conversation... the Pink Buffalo is my go to. Great food, great drinks, and an atmosphere that keeps us coming back. read more

The ambiance and crowds are fantastic, but the food failed to impress, unfortunately. Everything was very hearty with quality ingredients, but the menu lacked that fresh pop of flavor. Salads were smothered in dressing. Butternut squash soup did not even taste like butternut. Overall - a great place to go out and crowd watch, but not necessarily a culinary delight. Cocktails on the other hand were awesome. We'd pick this place for an evening date with some appetizers and cocktails read more

Met a friend for Happy Hour at this spot to catch up and enjoy some small bites. Plenty of parking in the strip mall lot where this restaurant is located. The interior is modern and inviting, with some fun wallpaper making a statement. We cozied up to the bar during this visit. I will say that bar was a bit sloppy during our visit...bartenders' water bottles cluttering the visible space, bartenders spilling our drinks a bit during delivery, and weird transitions of staff that were a bit distracting. The Espresso Martini was the best item I ordered! Well balanced and the addition of the cold foam really made for an enjoyable sip. Would absolutely return for that one! The bites we ordered had great flavor, but some fell a bit flat when trying to live up to their creative ideas. The Fried Pickles were the best food item: perfectly crispy medallions with two delicious dipping sauces. The "burnt ends" cauliflower are really just roasted cauliflower with BBQ sauce on top, missing out on the umami juiciness of their namesake. The Chips that came with the Dip were just ruffled potato chips, not housemade or interesting. Solid spot for happy hour if you're looking in the area! read more

Starting my Happy Hour series and Kitchen and Rail in Eagan did not disappoint. The menu is curated, not overwhelming, but still has solid variety -- and the pricing? Very reasonable for the quality and vibe. We ordered the cauliflower burnt ends, fried pickles, and chips & dip. Everything came out flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower especially was a standout -- seasoned well with that perfect texture. The staff was helpful and very informative, which I always appreciate when trying a spot for the first time. The atmosphere gives after-work energy -- a place where you can unwind with coworkers or commune with family and friends. And the background tunes were on point. Happy Hour is getting a 4.5/5 from me. I'll definitely be back to keep this series going. read more

Sunday brunch was fantastic! I went with a large group for brunch and had a wonderful experience. Our server was helpful and attentive and the food was a hit. Brunch is only offered on Sundays so make sure you plan ahead. Many of the menu offerings are served with their smoked gouda cheesy hash browns which are delectable. They are very cheesy and the perfect comfort food side dish. I ordered the K&R American Breakfast which was a classic. Eggs were exactly how I ordered them and the bacon was crispy. I ordered a side of fruit as an additional side and could skip it in the future. The fruit was fresh but was a very small side for $5 and only had two fruits in it. My spouse had the avocado toast benedict and added a sausage patty. The added protein was an expert idea and would recommend doing if you order this dish. The guacamole and pico were fresh and flavorful. No one left any food on their plate after this brunch experience! Seriously one of the best brunch options in Eagan! read more

Seen that they had an espresso martini flight on social media and wanted to check it out with a friend. We did make reservations for 4pm, which is when they open for dinner/HH. They were also running a specials menu as well. We found out the flight was a limited time but the waiter told us they can still make a few of the variations for us. I got a raspberry one, tasted like chocolate covered raspberries, very interesting. We did order a few apps (which some were on the hh specials), we got the burnt ends cauliflower, truffle fries and fried pickles. The cauliflower was good, very unique, loved the bbq sauce on it. Fried pickles were also good, light batter, which I love, came with ranch and sriracha mayo (I think). The truffle fries weren't the greatest/my favorite but I'll eat potatoes in any form so I won't complain. Restaurant decor was nice, super cute. Service was great! We were checked on often by our waiter as well as other staff members (management), everyone was nice and welcoming!! When we first got there it wasn't too busy but it did start getting busy around 5. I'd recommend reservations. read more

I was super impressed with the choices on the menu and it was hard to decide! We started with roasted asparagus with bernaise sauce & roasted Brussels sprouts and they were cooked perfectly and so tasty! My friend enjoyed her salmon prepared with miso and served on top of her choice of side, mashed cauliflower. They also have mix n match sliders pulled pork, cheeseburgers, drop pork, and chicken. I had cheeseburgers and they were perfect. The waitstaff was attentive and really nice, they let notices we drank water fast and brought us big glasses and a pitcher! The vibe there is classy and chill, good music, and a really cool looking bar! We made a reservation for 8pm on Saturday night and it was definitely needed unless you want to sit at the bar or the community table. read more

Not too spicy but can ask for spicy if you'd like! Good service. We sat on the patio. The only downfall was we asked if they could put the hanging lights on but they said they were broke. They've done an impressive job of turning a hole-in-the-wall outdoor mall floorplan into a fancy eatery, I'll say that much. The inside has been decked out with flowery wallpaper and gold-framed paintings, dark wood tables and chairs, and blacked-out ceiling. The refrigerated, on-tap, behind-glass wine bottles are a modern touch that yell "this place is gonna be expensive!" And indeed, so it is. Thankfully my in-laws, who selected the place to have dinner that night, were paying our tab, lol. But when six pieces of cauliflower cost like $8... goodness gracious. I went for the $30 scallops because who can turn down an opportunity to enjoy scallops and I got FOUR, which included no sides. Yowzers. Trust, I won't be back until my in-laws come back to visit us next year... Thankfully, I'm a small little dude and so one and a half pieces of cauliflower and four scallops plus half the "better than sex" cake were enough for me to feel pleasantly full. (It would have been nice to know the cake had coffee in it though... I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't much care for the taste of coffee, plus I swear my dreams were all extra-vivid all night as a result of neurons firing, pfft.) But anyway, if you can afford this place in this economy, firstly congratulations, what's that like? but secondly, it's a great experience. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly interested in our experience being a good one, which I really appreciated. He didn't phone it in one iota. Our food was ready promptly and it all tasted really good! They had a fun seasonal menu for fall, which likely means they swap it out four times a year, making it somewhere you'll want to come back. My mother-in-law loved her bison chili that was part of the seasonal menu. My father-in-law tried the duck and wolfed it down, so safe to assume he liked his. The only portion that was large randomly was my husband's sandwich-- at least someone got leftovers for later! Haha. Anyway, big recommend from me. Pricing is the only unfavorable factor. Enjoy! read more

Our experience here was mixed. We visited on a Saturday at suppertime. The food was spectacular--out fast and delicious. Our service, however, was shoddy. Our server was incredibly harried, always out of breath and abrupt as she infrequently checked on us, and we were never asked if we wanted more drinks. We speculated that she had too many tables to manage and was just having a rough night. But onto the positive aspect: the food! We shared Kitchen and Rail's famous meatballs as an appetizer. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, the sauce thick and savory. My husband had the Vietnamese Pork Belly, which he found delicious and pleasantly spicy, while I had the perfectly cooked Pan Seared Duck. The amount of food was great, too, filling without being overkill. We're not sure if we would come here again, as there are several other restaurants in the immediate area that look interesting. I'm glad we got to try the food, though. read more

I made reservations and couldn't get the time I wanted so I chose the 5pm time slot. It ended up being perfect. It was happy hour until 6 so we ended up getting a reserve glass of wine for $7 while we chatted. For dinner, I chose the Blacked Roughy with root veggies and it was delicious. Loved the bit of crisp on the fish and the veggies were a nice contrast in texture to the fish. My meal came to the table nice and hot. The others at our table also thought their meals were delicious. I stole a few fries from Husband and they were amazing. I'd come back just for the fries and happy hour but I can't wait to try another option on the menu. The restaurant is in a strip mall but inside there were booths and tables which made you forget about the mall-effect. Our service was excellent. Great experience. read more

Growing group of 6 dudes that ended up with 8. Great vibe, excellent service and food was fantastic. We ended up shutting the place down but didn't feel forced out. We came here for Sunday brunch and had a great time! We both ordered the Bloody Mary; it had the best rim salt seasoning I've ever had on a Bloody Mary! Our entrees included the Migas, Creole Benedict, and a side of the Gouda cheese hashbrowns. The Migas was huge, it's easily enough to share between 2 people. Very nice decor and comfortable seating. There were only two other tables of diners when we arrived, yet the service was glacially slow from start to finish. We started off with the Salsa Di Parma, which did not look like the pics from the restaurant at all--it was mostly shredded cheese with spices and a small amount of olive oil at the bottom of the cup that you had to dig for. Good flavor, but still, not as their pictures depict. My husband had the butter chicken, which he really enjoyed, and he offered me a bite and I agreed with him that it was delicious. I went with the pork belly slider and small caesar salad. The slider was tasty, but I can't say when I've ever had a caesar salad that was so bland; their dressing needs a lot of work. If there was a manager, I didn't see one. The workers just didn't seem like they cared. They huddled on the far side of the bar, near the hallway leading to the restrooms. Another diner had to go up to the bar and wait to try and flag someone down for a basket. read more

I came to this place expecting something pretty decent considering the reviews i looked at and the overall restaurant "vibe". but i received nothing short of mediocre food and service. I ordered the K&R cheeseburger slider, Truffle Fries, Char Siu Pork Tenderloin and my girlfriend ordered the Salmon pasta dish. First off, the Cheeseburger slider was super Salty, and usually i don't complain about this, but you're better off going to McDonalds for a cheeseburger because the K&R Slider was sad for $7 the Truffle fries was probably the only good thing because frankly it's hard to mess up fries, but it was clearly over fried, because it was crispy and nearly transparent from so much oil for $13 The Tenderloid was hard as a tree bark, i ate my tenderloid because I needed my protein but it had what looked like some store bought teriyaki sauce over it, sitting on top of what for sure was steam cooker rice, it was so bad that the rice was all hard and stuck together just like overcooked rice... $22 the Salmon pasta dish was pretty sad as well, because they advertised it to have flavor and spices/herbs but the salmon was served with no lemon, no seasoning, maybe 2 flakes of black pepper. the pasta had no flavor and no seasoning, and clearly just cooked in oil... it was pretty sad. $22 the server wasn't too bad but she didn't even ask how was the food, didn't even mention it even when we were served the food and were showing signs that we didn't like it because 10 mins after being served the food we were basically asking for the check lol... but she was nice otherwise all in all the dinner was not worth $120 for me and my girlfriend, we had to bring the pasta home to prep it, you're better off going to Noodles & Co for a flavorful meal for a way cheaper price. read more

Perfect spot for Happy Hour. Martini Monday is my favorite. Plus the apps are great. Have not tried any of main courses yet.

This was the second time I've visited Kitchen and Rail and it did not disappoint! We had a reservation for that evening but decided to go early and sit at the bar. We shared the smoked salmon dip with ritz crackers, which was a perfect way to start our meal. It came with plenty of crackers to finish the dip, so you didn't have to ask for more later. For our entrees, we shared dry rub wings, a small Caesar salad and a burger slider. Even though we shared some small plates, it filled us up completely! The prices are very moderate, considering the high end feel of the restaurant. The wings even came with a damp towel for messy fingers! We were very impressed and are looking forward to coming again in the summer when we can sit and enjoy the patio. read more

My wife and I went here for brunch recently, and I found the product to be a lot better than the happy hour or dinner product. Pricing was reasonable, or at least in line with other offerings. The servers were helpful. The food and drinks were great. I had the avocado toast eggs Benedict with hashbrowns, and my wife had chicken and waffles. We enjoyed them thoroughly. I paired that with the Carajillo cocktail which was excellent. I'd say it's like a grown-up take on an espresso martini. My wife opted for the N/A "Coffee and Jam" beverage, which sits somewhere in the coffee Negroni space while also being completely different. I thought they did a good job of making an N/A cocktail still have depth and interest. Reservation wasn't needed to get a table at noon on a Sunday. read more

This review is only for brunch, so I cannot speak to dinner - but we'll definitely be back for brunch! Love the vibe in here! It was clean and the service was good. Vibe inside is great, and their patio outside in the summer is super cute. The brunch menu had some great options. We got the lemon basil blueberry waffle (thank you to the chef that put that combo together ) - and it was delicious. We also got the breakfast nachos (migas) which were tasty though a bit bland. We will definitely be getting the hashbrowns again, those were fantastic. Thanks Kitchen and Rail for a great brunch - we'll be back! read more

I've been here a couple times before, and the food has definitely been better. The service tonight was amazing. The ambience was also amazing, a little bit dark in there, lots of decor on the walls, but totally a vibe. It does get a little bit loud, but it still manageable to hear conversations. We did come at 5:30 on a Thursday, so that could've been why the food was a little off, but overall a pretty good experience! read more

Bitchen and Derail We made a reservation for 5:00. We arrived at 5:12 and were rudely told that their policy only allowed to hold our table for 15 minutes. When I showed my phone displaying 5:12 they said it was only 10 minutes. Despite several tables being empty they said they were all reserved. I could not believe the arrogance and contempt in the hostesses attitude towards us. My wife and children were shocked and embarrassed to be treated so poorly. This was one of those experiences where I wanted to love the restaurant more than I did. That said it is likely more about my preferences than their quality. The vibe was good, the server was knowledgeable and helpful and very pleasant. The menu just did not fit my taste. I struggled to find something I wanted to order but there were many choices and my friends had no problem finding options. We split the bbq cauliflower, Caesar salad & salmon dip. They were all fine. My dining companions each ordered the miso Salmon and enjoyed it. I got another side of cauliflower. I think it is worth a try especially if you like supper club type food. In town for a family event, we asked our son for a recommendation for an upscale contemporary bar & grill. His immediate response was Kitchen and Rail. Advanced reservations are required around happy hour, and we claimed ours. Drink specials, and since we were at the edge of H-Hour, we ordered both special items from that menu as well as the full menu. In the picture you'll see part of one of my orders... The portion of sautéed Frog legs is six, however these were so very delicious looking and the scent of garlic butter, flour dusted legs was to great to resist...so I didn't. Kitchen and Rail... where do I begin?! I ordered takeout last night and called ~8 times before I got through. The phone rang about 5 times and went to a voicemail. Not ideal. Ordering via the phone was smooth and pick-up was also smooth. However, the food is downright disappointing. For 4 adults, we ordered the French Fries Dip Trio, the Wedgie Salad with chicken, The Famous Filet Mignon Slider, K&R Cheeseburger Slider, 2 What The Cluck Sliders, and Nana's Meatballs. All around, the portions were very small -- the french fries were a laughable amount. They were served with 3 dips which all tasted like store-bought salad dressing. There were enough for each of us to have ~5. The wedgie salad was served with half a chicken breast for $5 which was also laughable. The what the cluck slider was very meh in terms of flavor. It was a slider, so on the smaller side and to be expected, but flavor was lacking. Nana's meatballs were good, but nothing to write home about. And, the K&R cheeseburger slider was 1 of the only decent items we ordered! The sauce they served with it was good. However, the filet mignon on The Famous Filet Mignon Slider was extremely tender which is what saved them from getting a 1-star review. Overall, I won't be ordering from Kitchen & Rail again, nor will I be visiting their restaurant or recommending it to friends. read more

Back for round two! I tried the burger of the month which was similar to a Big Mac. The fries are the "zesty" type of fries. The burger was delicious and was paired with Big Mac sauce. I appreciated the chunky pickles in the sauce. The slab of onion was grilled and made the sandwich. I am an onion lover so this was not too much for me, but may be for some. The fries weren't hot for my order or my friend's order, so we sent those back. They were replaced pretty quick - hot and fresh. We appreciated the attention to service. Enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake. It was light and fluffy. My chocoholic friend is a purist and doesn't like to mix fruit with chocolate, but she loved this as well!‍ This habanero chicken sandwich really isn't worth mentioning. We've been many times to the Eagan location. Easily more than 10 times and it's usually awesome. Tonight was subpar at best. Service was rushing us and food was not great. My husband got the filet mignon sandwich and I had the lemon piccata. The sandwich had a tough tendon and the pasta was about a 1/3 of a breast buried under overcooked noodles. Caesar salad was all lemon and no creaminess at all. We realize that the food can't be 100% every time. But this was nowhere near our usual. On top of it all my husband had to wait until nearly halfway through his meal until we were checked on so he could order a glass of wine. And the service did not check to see if we were interested in coffee or dessert but instead came over and asked if we were ready to pay. As Eagan residents it will be hard to continue recommending this location after a night like this. read more

The winter menu features items such as stroganoff and maple-glazed pork chops. We enjoyed our smoked short ribs and grits (you may need to add a bit of salt), The Cluck and Moo special which features a chicken and filet mignon slider (I would get the full filet mignon sandwich next time), and boozy brûlée cheesecake (yum). Thursday night, 7:30, August 6. 5 people at the bar, restaurant at roughly 30%. Sit at bar as a single and wait over 5 min for service despite the bartender, several servers and the manager (?) all clearly seeing me. Even tried to get their attention - verbally. Finally get service. Small pour of wine despite order of the largest portion on the menu. Got 3 items. Small portions. Salad was good, protein "special" was a tiny portion. Broccoli rabe was served with the thick stalks so half of the order was inedible unless you are a goat. Prices are way too high. Service bad. Food ok. Ambiance ok.
