One of our go-to spots for date night or happy hour! The owners are always so friendly and welcoming and truly make it feel like home. Do not miss an opportunity to order something off the specials list--we've never been disappointed. And the cocktails are a whole other conversation... the Pink Buffalo is my go to. Great food, great drinks, and an atmosphere that keeps us coming back.
The ambiance and crowds are fantastic, but the food failed to impress, unfortunately. Everything was very hearty with quality ingredients, but the menu lacked that fresh pop of flavor. Salads were smothered in dressing. Butternut squash soup did not even taste like butternut. Overall - a great place to go out and crowd watch, but not necessarily a culinary delight. Cocktails on the other hand were awesome. We'd pick this place for an evening date with some appetizers and cocktails
Met a friend for Happy Hour at this spot to catch up and enjoy some small bites. Plenty of parking in the strip mall lot where this restaurant is located. The interior is modern and inviting, with some fun wallpaper making a statement. We cozied up to the bar during this visit. I will say that bar was a bit sloppy during our visit...bartenders' water bottles cluttering the visible space, bartenders spilling our drinks a bit during delivery, and weird transitions of staff that were a bit distracting. The Espresso Martini was the best item I ordered! Well balanced and the addition of the cold foam really made for an enjoyable sip. Would absolutely return for that one! The bites we ordered had great flavor, but some fell a bit flat when trying to live up to their creative ideas. The Fried Pickles were the best food item: perfectly crispy medallions with two delicious dipping sauces. The "burnt ends" cauliflower are really just roasted cauliflower with BBQ sauce on top, missing out on the umami juiciness of their namesake. The Chips that came with the Dip were just ruffled potato chips, not housemade or interesting. Solid spot for happy hour if you're looking in the area!
Starting my Happy Hour series and Kitchen and Rail in Eagan did not disappoint. The menu is curated, not overwhelming, but still has solid variety -- and the pricing? Very reasonable for the quality and vibe. We ordered the cauliflower burnt ends, fried pickles, and chips & dip. Everything came out flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower especially was a standout -- seasoned well with that perfect texture. The staff was helpful and very informative, which I always appreciate when trying a spot for the first time. The atmosphere gives after-work energy -- a place where you can unwind with coworkers or commune with family and friends. And the background tunes were on point. Happy Hour is getting a 4.5/5 from me. I'll definitely be back to keep this series going.
Sunday brunch was fantastic! I went with a large group for brunch and had a wonderful experience. Our server was helpful and attentive and the food was a hit. Brunch is only offered on Sundays so make sure you plan ahead. Many of the menu offerings are served with their smoked gouda cheesy hash browns which are delectable. They are very cheesy and the perfect comfort food side dish. I ordered the K&R American Breakfast which was a classic. Eggs were exactly how I ordered them and the bacon was crispy. I ordered a side of fruit as an additional side and could skip it in the future. The fruit was fresh but was a very small side for $5 and only had two fruits in it. My spouse had the avocado toast benedict and added a sausage patty. The added protein was an expert idea and would recommend doing if you order this dish. The guacamole and pico were fresh and flavorful. No one left any food on their plate after this brunch experience! Seriously one of the best brunch options in Eagan!
Seen that they had an espresso martini flight on social media and wanted to check it out with a friend. We did make reservations for 4pm, which is when they open for dinner/HH. They were also running a specials menu as well. We found out the flight was a limited time but the waiter told us they can still make a few of the variations for us. I got a raspberry one, tasted like chocolate covered raspberries, very interesting. We did order a few apps (which some were on the hh specials), we got the burnt ends cauliflower, truffle fries and fried pickles. The cauliflower was good, very unique, loved the bbq sauce on it. Fried pickles were also good, light batter, which I love, came with ranch and sriracha mayo (I think). The truffle fries weren't the greatest/my favorite but I'll eat potatoes in any form so I won't complain. Restaurant decor was nice, super cute. Service was great! We were checked on often by our waiter as well as other staff members (management), everyone was nice and welcoming!! When we first got there it wasn't too busy but it did start getting busy around 5. I'd recommend reservations.
I was super impressed with the choices on the menu and it was hard to decide! We started with roasted asparagus with bernaise sauce & roasted Brussels sprouts and they were cooked perfectly and so tasty! My friend enjoyed her salmon prepared with miso and served on top of her choice of side, mashed cauliflower. They also have mix n match sliders pulled pork, cheeseburgers, drop pork, and chicken. I had cheeseburgers and they were perfect. The waitstaff was attentive and really nice, they let notices we drank water fast and brought us big glasses and a pitcher! The vibe there is classy and chill, good music, and a really cool looking bar! We made a reservation for 8pm on Saturday night and it was definitely needed unless you want to sit at the bar or the community table.
What a lovely, cozy, and just-quiet-enough brunch space! All 3 breakfast benedict(s) my party ate were amazingly flavorful. The portion sizes were perfect, not to forget the Gouda cheesy hash-browns *chefs kiss* Service was attentive and pleasant; our food came out blazin' fast and hot. We came in with no reservations but was able to sit right away in the couch area. This was actually good since it was private. The food was good. Enjoyed the meatballs, the salsa di parma, salmon and definitely the cake! It was moist and definitely a must! The team members were so nice and friendly. The place is not too loud. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in town.
Got sat down at around 8:20 and we were seated right away, our server came and gave us waters and said she'd be back after we take a look at the menu - fast forward to 8:45 she hasn't came back, served two other tables who've came after us while also telling them she'd be back and completely ignored us. Felt racially motivated as the only two POC within the restaurant. Sad to see restaurants like this still in Eagan we were willing to spend a good amount as well for just two, very disappointed. Our experience here was mixed. We visited on a Saturday at suppertime. The food was spectacular--out fast and delicious. Our service, however, was shoddy. Our server was incredibly harried, always out of breath and abrupt as she infrequently checked on us, and we were never asked if we wanted more drinks. We speculated that she had too many tables to manage and was just having a rough night. But onto the positive aspect: the food! We shared Kitchen and Rail's famous meatballs as an appetizer. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, the sauce thick and savory. My husband had the Vietnamese Pork Belly, which he found delicious and pleasantly spicy, while I had the perfectly cooked Pan Seared Duck. The amount of food was great, too, filling without being overkill. We're not sure if we would come here again, as there are several other restaurants in the immediate area that look interesting. I'm glad we got to try the food, though.
I made reservations and couldn't get the time I wanted so I chose the 5pm time slot. It ended up being perfect. It was happy hour until 6 so we ended up getting a reserve glass of wine for $7 while we chatted. For dinner, I chose the Blacked Roughy with root veggies and it was delicious. Loved the bit of crisp on the fish and the veggies were a nice contrast in texture to the fish. My meal came to the table nice and hot. The others at our table also thought their meals were delicious. I stole a few fries from Husband and they were amazing. I'd come back just for the fries and happy hour but I can't wait to try another option on the menu. The restaurant is in a strip mall but inside there were booths and tables which made you forget about the mall-effect. Our service was excellent. Great experience.

Service- impeccable. Food- delicious. Ambiance- romantic. We went for brunch and had the donuts, salmon Benedict, waffles, and chilaquiles. The ambiance is 10/10. Very vibey space - perfect for happy hour with friends or an intimate dinner when the lights dim. The owner stopped by our table to check how everything was. He was very sweet, just as our waitress was. Best Aperol Spritz I've had and I wasn't even drinking it outside in Europe. The happy hour selection + prices were great read more

I love almost every entrée I have tried at this place over the past two years. I love how most things are served small plate style, so you can try a lot of things in one sitting especially with a small group. Their burger sliders and steak sliders are always a favorite, and I love their fries and dips. They have great wine and drink selections, and they always have a few original seasonal specials on the menu. Decent gluten free options. The only thing I don't love about this place is that it is one big open room, so it gets extremely loud if you are there during busy hours, so it's not ideal if you want a more intimate dinner. That said, if you are lonely, and looking for a place to mingle, the bar here always feels social and upbeat. read more

A place like this in the middle of the suburbs is surprising and lovely. The vintage flare (like the plates and decor) mixed with the modern base catches your eye the moment you walk in to let you know this place is special. The staff is prompt and friendly. There is certainly more than one thing you will want on the menu so you will need to come again! I enjoyed dining by the spooky children photos on the wall. I like quirky elements. The food was very good and the drinks did not disappoint. The venue needs some sound mitigation because we could hear the table on the far side of the room as we were on the opposite far side wall. Installing a few ceiling baffles would absorb that easily. I also feel the large TVs seemed out of place with the beautiful style of the rest of the place, but I am sure it is a must for the suburbanites to watch sports. Free lot parking. read more

Came here to celebrate a birthday and the server right away offered everyone a glass of Prosecco or dessert. We got seated at the corner booth and it was really hot outside so the AC was working hard that day. The unit must be right above that booth because I felt water dripping down to the both and splashing my back. It was just a few drops so I just asked for napkins to wipe it down. They do sell pull tabs if you want to kill a little time while waiting for your food. The service started out really good until after we got our food. Our server seemed to have went MIA so we had to wait a while for boxes and then also wait for a while for our tabs. The salad was a good starter to share with my group. I don't eat frog legs but was told it paired really well with the sauce it came with. The cluck and moo special was a lot smaller than I thought would be and was not worth the price in my opinion. The indulgence burger was good but it was overloaded with cheese and you can add fries for an additional price. I had the steak bavette and it was tasteless without the chimichurri sauce on top. I always like to try a little bit if the steak first since it was house marinated, but it tasted like I was eating a plain steak without any type of seasoning..couldn't even taste a little salt. I was hoping this would've been a hit and I can say I've found myself a new hangout spot, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be going back. read more

My friend and I stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. I ordered the mix & match sliders: 1- What The Cluck Slider & 1- K&R Cheeseburger Slider with fries. When our food came out the fries were not hot, so we did ask for new ones, and round two they were hot. FYI- fries are zesty (the best kind). K&R cheeseburger slider was my fav. Next time I would not get the what the clucker slider as it was very dry and just not good- little flavor. Our service was good. He checked in periodically. Restaurant is decorated nicely. Photos on the walls. Colorful chairs at the bar. Almost like random plates served at the tables- super neat. For dessert, we shared the Cherry Kissed Chocolate Decadence. I'm not one to really like fruit mixed with my chocolate but I must say this was delicious. I'll be honest, I wish the slice was larger (haha). read more
Kitchen and Rail is a funky little contemporary restaurant I've been dying to try for awhile. I heard about the food, but fell in love with the quirky and moody atmosphere. The walls feature busy wallpaper and the tables have small plates reminiscent of Grandma's fine china collection. We had reservations on a Sunday night and were seated at a large corner booth. Even though we were in the corner, it was still hard to hear the members of my party. I can imagine that in the middle of the dining room it could get very loud. We started with drinks. Being a BIG mezcalrita fan, I had to try Tommy's #2..and it did not disappoint. We ordered food next. Several members of my party had been to K&R before, so I knew the drill. Most of the plates were small, so it's best to order several items. I was happy to see that they had gluten free options. I ordered the butter chicken and the cauliflower burnt ends. The butter chicken was a relatively small portion, but was delicious. I was confused that the dish was declared gluten free, but naan was still included. I wasn't sure it was gluten free, so I just gave it to my spouse. The cauliflower burnt ends were also tasty. With both dishes, I felt satisfied, but not super full. If you are someone with a bigger appetite, it may be wise to order more food. If your group is up for sharing, this would be a good place to order several dishes and share bites. Since a large part of my group had been here before, I knew the prices were pretty high for what you get going in. The good news, however, is the food was delicious. Date night at Kitchen and Rail was fun for a Sunday night! Ambiance was perfect for date night... busy enough to be fun, but quiet enough to hear each other easily. Service was quick and attentive. BEST espresso martini I've ever had! Even better than the ones I've had in Minneapolis or even in New York City. I was a bit disappointed with the food, though. We ordered Crispy Duck, but there was absolutely no "Crispy" part of the duck. Tasty duck, but definitely not crispy. We almost ordered the Curry Thai Peanut Noodles from their seasonal menu, but changed our minds when the waiter mentioned they were served cold. We opted for the Cheeseburger Sliders instead. The sliders were actually pretty good, but a less adventurous choice. But we saved the best for last... the Italian Donuts were amazing!!! The espresso frosting and fresh whipped cream was so delicious!!! Overall, it was a good experience. I'd love to try them again and order different entrees next time. read more

Yep I went with kids. Some say BOLD. not really for kids to just put it out there. From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. As any parent knows, dining out with kids can sometimes be a bit stressful, especially when they're feeling energetic and restless. The owner; I'm assuming- saw the stress on my face and offered a reassuring acknowledgment that everything was okay and for me to relax , which made all the difference in helping me relax and enjoy my meal which was As for the food--absolutely delicious! Every dish was prepared to perfection, It's rare to find a place that combines great service and exceptional food, but Kitchen and Rail did just that. We left feeling grateful and well taken care of, and we look forward to returning soon! Oh yeah the ambiance was perfect for a date! read more
Stopped at kitchen and rail for a friend birthday. The restaurant is super gorgeous, very low, lit, and romantic feeling. I really liked their wine selection, they have really nice wine and you can try small samples of expensive bottles which is kind of cool. We started off with the french fries and all of the dips. I would have to say this was my favorite part of the meal. The dips were amazing. The french fries were great, if I were to come back here I would probably just get that and some glasses of wine.for food, I got the steak which had a pretty spicy sauce, and I really enjoy spice so if I think this is spicy, it was pretty spicy. My friends got the soup and mac & cheese, and they both liked that. Overall, I would say everyone enjoyed their food. The quality was there. The spices and flavoring were pretty spot on, it's just a very hearty meal. read more

First visit. Walked in and loved the ambience right away. We were there at 1:30 on a Sunday for brunch. Service was great. Hostess (woman who is a friend of the owners) was great. Making suggestions and overall great spirit! Also our Server Alex was good. He was attentive and took good care of us. Food however wasn't all great. Ordered dry rub wings to start and they were perfect! The seasoning was so good. Nice combination of spices and sugar and prepared exactly right. Made us excited for what else was coming.... However, the Avocado Benedict was disappointing. Would have preferred simple sliced or sauted avocado. Instead it was an overly seasoned guacamole inspired spread that took over the whole dish. And the English muffin was completely soggy. The hollandaise sauce could have toned down the avocado mess, but it was flavorless. Also the side salad I chose had a lovely house dressing, but it's glory was muddled with the pedestrian iceberg lettuce/red cabbage it was paired with. Should have been a spring mix. Also the iceberg didn't seem super fresh. My friend's Chicken & Waffle combo was also disappointing. Too much work having to de-bone the chicken to eat it with the waffle. A boneless chicken breast, sautéed in a sweet glaze would have been more appropriate. Or a savory glaze to play up a sweet/savory pairing with the syrup. My Old Fashioned was good. My friend had a drink, not sure what it was but she liked it. Looked like pink lemonade. We were a little disappointed that the first drinks we chose off the menu were not available due to a shift to a new seasonal cocktail menu coming in the next few days. Not a problem, but maybe mention that before or cross them out on the menu. Overall, it was an okay meal, but I expected more based on Yelp reviews. If I'm in the area, I would consider going back for the wings, and check out dinner menu. But would choose to go elsewhere for brunch. read more

We were looking for a place to have lunch after doing some house hunting in Eagan and found Kitchen and Rail. We sat at the bar, which is a great space. I ordered the Chilaquiles and my spouse ordered the Monte Cristo. The Chilaquiles were honestly the best I have ever had - anywhere! I wasn't expecting them to be as great as they were, wow!! The Monte Cristo has a waffle batter coating which is unique and quite tasty as well, the fig jam is a nice touch and helps balance out the sweetness of the sandwich. We will come back! read more

What a pleasant surprise in the middle of a strip mall! Vibe was similar to restaurants in North Loop. Mix of table sizes with comfy chairs. Nice size bar with ample room to eat. Toes in the sand was a solid choice for a pre dinner cocktail. For apps we tried the smoked salmon dip, cauliflower burnt ends and the cheese platter. They were all tasty and we really enjoyed the cheese choices. We also had the wedge salad, really good. I'm not usually a pork belly girl but it was cooked perfectly. Beef stroganoff and filet mignon sliders finished our choices, both were yummy but I did feel like the sliders were a little pricey for the size. The service was attentive and helpful. The owner stopped by to great our table. My only thing I thought was odd was the house Cabernet was served chilled. I didn't mind it, just surprised me. read more
Caviar Chips: HIT Amazing balance. The crème fraîche is superb Baby arugula salad: HIT The fresh manchego is perfect! Lamb Lollies: Mediocre Overall mushy dish. Needs some crunch or something to sink your teeth into. Just not great texture-wise! Can be improved Nana's Meatballs: Mediocre Amazing seasoning. Kitchen and Rail is a great spot for an adult night out after work or even on the weekends! They have a full wine list and a good amount of cocktails to choose from. I loved the Toes in the Sand Cocktail which was the perfect summer drink (the orange drink pictured)! I also ordered the Tommy #2 which was good but would have rather had the Lavender Cocktail that my friend ordered and I got to try. The wedge salad was so good!! The thick bacon pieces were amazing... I would 100% order this again. The french fries met expectation but the dipping sauce that came along with it tasted like mayonnaise and was bland. I asked for a side of ranch to dip them in instead. We then finished our meals by sharing the donuts which melted in your mouth! I suggest if you have four adults to order two donut plates because they only come with five small pieces. The waiter was so kind and over all did a great job! Overall the atmosphere had a dim funky/cool vibe and the decor was fun to look at. I would recommend making a reservation for it was busy even on a Wednesday evening. What a lovely little gem!! I met up with a friend for brunch here at her suggestion and man was it wonderful! I wasn't sure what to expect considering it's in a strip mall but I should know better than that by now! Some of my favorite hidden gems have come from strip malls and this is no exception! We had reservations for a Saturday and were able to be sat outside on the patio. My only complaint would be asking for more patio seating but given the location they've done the best they can with the space in my opinion so really there's not much to remedy that without getting a whole new space! I loved the variety of the mocktails available - often I feel that businesses don't really offer anything special for those who aren't drinking/don't drink to enjoy on and that certainly isn't the case here! I indulged in a mocktail espresso martini while my friend enjoyed some lovely wine. The food was absolutely incredible!! Wow oh wow, I cannot express how good it was. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something I wouldn't normally and 10/10 recommend it. Everything we ordered was a hit but I would definitely recommend the BLB Waffle and the Italian Donuts!! We had just enough for the two of us and the dipping sauces were diiiiiiivine. Service was excellent, the price seemed right on target, and the overall vibe was so cute. We will be back to try lunch/dinner in the near future! read more

Been looking forward to eating here and was able to get a seat tonight. The atmosphere is very cute and vintage looking. The Happy Hour menu was great prices and nice assortment. We ordered the burnt BBQ cauliflower (not a fan) I ordered 2 very blaisy cheeseburger sliders, no flavor at all Culvers are 50 times better. My daughter had the butter chicken and it tasted like a Lean cuisine and the chicken was gritty. We were shocked how quickly the food came out almost like it was already prepared and just heated in a microwave. My april spritz looked beautiful and tasted great! My grandaughter had some type of noodles with a blended white/red sauce, I thought tasted like spaghetti's but the noodles were actually cooked to perfection. Everything was plated so nicely and food looks delicious but lacks flavor with everything we had. Won't be back sorry to say. Would have loved to like this place. read more

Came here for the first time last night and am eager to go back! Staff is super friendly, we sat at the bar and were very well attended to while we were there. We got there late, about 9pm (closes at 10) and kitchen closes at 9:15, with last call for drinks at 9:30. Our waitress let us know that very quickly so we could get everything in. Espresso martinis were great - non-traditional as they have coconut added and a kind of cold foam on top, and they were STRONG. Definitely getting your moneys worth! Vin rose pasta was great! Many of their options are very affordable (pasta was $12 for a generous serving). Only docking a star because I wish they had more vegetarian entrees. The menu is very meat heavy and the pasta seemed to be the only thing I could have. read more
OVERALL: A new suburban gem that's worth making the trek out for. I was able to attend their soft opening a couple weeks back but came back for more! FOOD: During the soft I sampled so much of the food. My personal favorite was the miso glazed salmon and the filet mignon sandwich. Both were cooked to perfection and I'm thinking about them even now. The second time I went back was just for lighter bites and drinks. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and my friend ordered the vin pasta. The pasta smelled absolutely amazing and my Caesar salad was flavorful and a good amount of salad + chicken for a half size. DRINKS: I will keep raving about these espresso martinis. I love the foam on top with the coconut flavor in it. I think this is what sets it apart from the others I've had. The second time I got it, it was definitely stronger! So be prepared. I still loved it though! ATMOSPHERE: An unsuspecting location, when you walk inside it feels very homey/cozy and is well decorated. There's a variety of different seating options as well. PRICES: The prices are very reasonable. The pasta was only $12, cocktails ranged from $10-14. My salad + chicken was $11. I think the quality of the food is worth it. The entrees like the filet mignon sandwich were in the $20-$30 range but that's not surprising at all for the cut of meat. SERVICE: Our waitress was super kind and attentive. Always made sure we knew when different cut-off times were (we arrived late at 9pm) to ensure we got our food/drinks if we wanted them! *They also have parking. I'm sure that's a given in Eagan BUT as a Minneapolis girl I always include it. read more
