My wife and I decided to finally try this new restaurant in Apple Valley. As far as ambiance you would be hard-pressed to find a better looking place in the Twin Cities. The decor went well with the name of the restaurant. Come take a look and see for yourself. The food was fine I just thought maybe I ordered the wrong thing that day. We started out with the duck wontons. Very good! I had the brisket Mac and cheese. It was a little underwhelming though. The waitress said their Mac and cheese was more Southern-style. I disagree. Although it had great flavor it was runny. My wife and I also shared her entree which was a smoked salmon salad. The salad was HUGE! It was a really good salad. The entrees here are massive and the menu is pretty extensive. I'll be back to try more of what they have to offer.

Stopped here for an early dinner. The place recently opened and it was busy. Luckily we had a reservation (although they couldn't find our reservation?!?!) and we were seated pretty quickly. The place is clean and has that new place vibe. The server came over and was very nice. They got us our waters and helped out with menu. We ordered some burgers and chicken and waffles along with a chicken caprese sandwich and hot chicken sandwich. For appetizers, we got the duck bacon wontons and firecracker shrimp. Also ordered two different kinds of Mac and Cheese, a kids meal and a lobster Mac and cheese. The kids ordered a strawberry lemonade, the rest of us just stuck with water. The food took a little while to come out but was hot and fresh. The reaper burger was cooked well and tasted well even without the bacon. He brought a tea sauce that they use for their wings which was really tasty and had a kick to it. It was habanero flavored creamy sauce. The caprese sandwich tasted good and the chicken was cooked well in all the dishes and not dry. The taste for both the chicken and waffles and Nashville hot sandwich was on point. The duck bacon wontons were fried perfectly with the gooey cream cheese and the duck bacon added the right amount of umami. The firecracker shrimps were the weakest of the items we ordered. While if was crispy and there were half a dozen shrimps, the flavor was very mild. The Mac and cheese was on point, especially the lobster one with a nice piece of lobster. Good flavors in the Mac and cheese. For dessert, we got the apple crisp skillet with a scoop of ice cream. Came out warm and was big enough to share. A little more cinnamon forward than I like but not too much. They were really trying hard but between opening just the week before and being super busy, they were having a hard time. But the helpful attitude and helpful attitude of the wait staff and the management went a long way to make our experience more enjoyable. I would give them a little time to sort out the initial 'new opening jitters' but it's a solid choice in an area that doesn't have a lot of options. We would check it out again if we are in the area. Hope they can get some of their service things figured out which I am sure they will.

My husband and I went here for dinner. All the staff were very nice. Our waitress was wonderful. We each got a drink and then shared the duck wontons for an app. The wontons were very good! I got the wings in the Tennessee sauce which was basically a Smokey buffalo. I liked them okay. The ranch was amazing though. My husband got the Mac n cheese which lacked flavor and meat. He said the breadstick was terrible. The prices were kinda high, in our opinion. We liked the ambiance and the decor suited the restaurant. We probably won't be back. We are glad we tried it but we didn't feel it was above average for the above average prices.

Brick & Bourbon is a great local spot for the suburbs with a huge menu and something for everyone. We had a really good experience, and a big part of that was our waiter Calvin. He took amazing care of us, gave great recommendations, and was consistently attentive without hovering. Seriously great service. It definitely has that busy bar-style vibe, energetic, lively, and usually pretty packed (especially weekends). The space is open and spacious with a mix of booths, tables, and bar seating. One of the highlights is their bourbon flights, which are such a fun way to try a variety without committing to one pour. Definitely recommend doing a flight if you're into bourbon or just curious. Food-wise, we tried a decent spread, some highlights were the Duck bacon wontons: very tasty, but extremely salty. Like... these bad boys were CAKED. If you're sensitive to salt, just a heads up. The Chicken caprese sandwich: really good, made with an entire chicken breast and comes with a large portion of fries. The Burgers: all-around good and cooked well. We also tried the Buffalo mac & cheese: basically boneless buffalo wings on top of their classic mac. Good, but didn't have a huge wow factor. They also are scratch-made, even down to desserts, which is always a plus. Plenty of parking, but pro tip: join the waitlist before you go on weekends. It gets busy and the wait times can get long.

Brisket Mac and Parmesan Fries with Truffle Aioli.

Stopped in Saturday around 5pm and while it was busy we were seated with no wait, which was great. Upbeat vibe, decorated for the holidays, and despite how loud the ambient noise is during a rush, I had no trouble hearing the table conversation. The service was great, very attentive and prompt and the server was invested in our experience (I regret not being able to recall his name). We both had the Brisket Mac and we shared an order of the Parmesan Fries with Truffle Aioli. Everything was amazing. The Brisket Mac is indulgent and the combination of flavors is perfect. The onion straws are the best I've ever had. The Parmesan fries pair so well with the truffle aioli that I can't imagine one without the other. All in all it was a great experience at a new location for one of my favorite establishments and I highly recommend it. The drink selection is great and might be considered the main draw but the food and staff are amazing as well!

Decent suburban food, but high in sugars and syrups and their cocktails are pre-mix out of a keg. Not my favorite spot

You can make reservations and they have an app with a loyalty program. There often is a wait during dinner time, so if you can plan ahead I would make a reservation. Tavern Grill recently revamped their menu and they have some really great dishes! Some notable dishes: -- The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps appetizer is SO fresh and flavorful! You can add on cashews and avocado. The avocado slices were so thick and fresh. The wonton strips were some of the best I've had -- so light and crispy. The thai peanut sauce on the chicken was fantastic and the ginger sauce had a pretty decent kick to it. -- The Chicken Skewers entree is my go-to dish. It's such a classic and it has consistently been good every time I've ordered it. The chicken is juicy and the peppers and onions have a nice charred grilled flavor. The garlic parmesan sauce complements the dish well. -- The Chicken Wild Rice Soup is on the chunkier side, which I enjoyed! It was nice and creamy and didn't skimp out on the wild rice. The Clam Chowder served on Fridays was a little too salty. -- The Skillet Cookie is so warm and gooey! The ice cream melts right into the warm cookie. The cookie is on the doughier side and the outside is on the softer side. It's almost the size of the entire plate, so it's easily shareable between a few people. -- The Fish Fry Basket doesn't taste too greasy, and the tarter sauce complements the fish well. The fish has a clean flavor and on Fridays you can get a refill of 4 pieces of fried fish for an additional $7.50. You can add on their seasoned sour cream for an additional cost. The seasoned sour cream is thick and adds so much flavor to the waffle fries. Last time I was there I received very friendly and attentive service from Sam.

The patio is super chill, and the cocktails are creative without trying too hard, tons of variety and some really fun flavor combos. Their late-night happy hour is a great deal, especially with food this good. We rolled in with a big group and ordered half the menu. The shrimp tacos were a standout, massive, perfectly-cooked shrimp with bold, punchy flavor. But the real showstopper was the flank steak chimichurri. Every single person at the table said they'd come back just for that. It was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned, everything you want from a classic done right. Carne asada fries were super fun and flavorful, and the cod + pineapple fish tacos were fresh, bright, and balanced. Add in a killer tequila lineup and some seriously authentic flavors, and you've got one of the best modern Mexican spots in the area.

They have so many different, foods, drinks, pastries, deli items, it's definitely worth exploring before or after dinner! There is free parking but the lot is not very big. You may need to park in the street (also free). Upon walking in, we were greeted by several employees! We opted to sit out on the patio, since it was a gorgeous night! After 10 minutes no one had come to the table... 15 minutes... still no one. No water, drinks or their complimentary chips. They weren't overly busy, so this didn't make sense to us. At minute 20 I got up to talk to a manger. The waitress saw me go up to the front and tried to wave me down to say "I got you." I'm sorry but 20 minutes in a restaurant that isn't packed is ridiculous. At the very least she could have brought water and said she would be with us soon, but she never acknowledged we were there. I spoke with the manager and noted that it had been 20 minutes with no one coming to our table. I told him i understood she had other tables but that we just hadn't even been acknowledged. He said "she doesn't have that many tables! Let's go!" He took our order on the spot! He brought us complimentary guacamole and horchata with our chips! That was a very nice gesture! I assured him we weren't out for freebies, we just wanted to order our food. He was very friendly and definitely took care of us! Our food came out very quickly and we were checked on multiple times. He definitely turned what was a very negative experience around! The vibes here are really great! The patio was so nice! It was well maintained and clean! The food: I got the pulpo (octopus) tacos! They had a tropical and buttery flavor to them! I opted to take the picked onion off mine but I'm sure that's tasty as well! The chips had a nice crisp and saltiness to them and the salad was one of the best complimentary ones we have tried! My boyfriend had the chicken fajitas and noted they were tasty with a solid portion. The horchata here is also pretty solid! Overall, this place is worth the try! Tip: don't get the dessert at the restaurant, grab it to go from the bodega! It's about $4-$5 cheaper!

Had us seated quickly and got drinks out pretty quickly. During this dinner I drank a Cherry Manhattan and ate Cajun Bourbon pasta. I typically love a Manhattan but I wasn't impressed with this Cherry Manhattan. It seemed like it was pure whisky and a drop of sweet Vermouth. The ratio of the cocktail was definitely all wrong. Good thing I like straight whiskey I guess. The Cajun Bourbon pasta was good, but I wouldn't venture to say great. It was overly creamy and just didn't pack any spice that you'd expect to be associated with Cajun. Overall it just lacked a richness in flavor. I would still recommend this spot despite food and drink being average. Barley and Vine had a beautiful location with some magnificent wood working that is a feast for the eyes. Additionally they bring in live music on Saturdays so that adds some enjoyment if you appreciate loud live music. 4/5 due to these many factors mentioned.
