    Breakfast burrito with cheesy potatoes
    Jessica S.

I found the locals bar with a hockey theme to it! The bar seating was full which is where I usually like to sit and the staff had no issues with my group starting at a high top and moving spots, still happily served us our drinks. Sunday is all day happy hour with a brunch menu;can order from main menu as well. Nice selection of menu items prices reasonable. The only real nonissue we had was the tiny scoop of cheesy hashbrowns but did we really need more? No

    Friday fish fry. 10/10
    Phil R.

I read online that Rascals served haddock for their fish fry. That is my favorite being from the east. Placed my order over the phone and the gal was very friendly. Called back to make an addition and the guy too was very helpful. They said 10-20 minutes. Boy is that fast for a Friday. Picked up was easy and fast. Took the four meals home and they were a hit! Usually have full filets but these were like tenders. What a nice change! Tender and flavorful! Decent amount of fish. Will be back again!!!

Cajun chicken tortellini - tortellini was A+, however the chicken and missing cajun was a big fat F.
    Jess H.

My experience here was just average, not enough to keep me from coming back but not enough to make this a go-to place on a Friday night for dinner. The food left a little to be desired. I ordered the cajun chicken tortellini which is something I was really excited for. While the tortellini tasted delicious, there was hardly any cajun that could be tasted, and the chicken was not quite cooked. A disappointing meal nonetheless, however the bright spot of our visit was our server. He was dealing with quite the rush for whatever reason and never made us feel like we were rushed, or not a priority even though it was clear he was dealing with a ton of people. We were very impressed there.

    Crispy Clucker w/waffle fries

I'm always on the lookout for a good fried chicken sandwich. This one here ranks top 5 of all time for sure! I upgraded to the waffle fries this time over the crinkle fries and that was a game changer! You know I'll be back! Besides the food Jessica, Nick and Ryan make it the best bar in apple valley!

I have passed by Rascal's many times and finally stopped in for a late lunch. You wouldn't think so from the outside, but Rascal's definitely has a dive bar feel to it. Their lunch menu is jam-packed full of amazing deals! Their food is an absolute bargain. You can find anything from soups to wraps to pasta, etc. They also have the "Bar Baskets" menu available if you sit at the bar or a table top which is self-seating. I decided to order a cup of their Wild Rice Soup (w/ ham and available every day) and the Juicy Lucy/Krinkle Fries bar basket ($6.75). My boyfriend ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with Waffle Fries ($9.95). The reason why I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is for two reasons: 1) The service was excruciatingly slow. Our waitress was fine however, she was the only one that was serving people, both bartending and waitressing. She continuously went back and forth between making drinks at the bar and taking orders/bringing food out to people, so it took a long time for us to get our food as well as get our tab. They need to hire more staff, so the work isn't all on one person's shoulders and customers end up having to wait. 2) The Juicy Lucy was TINY. It was more of a Juicy Lucy bite and not so much a burger. The meat tasted wonderful, but it was gone in two bites. I wouldn't recommend getting this bar basket due to the small size. Aside from that, the food we ordered tasted great. I wish I could have had a bigger portion size, but the buffalo chicken wrap was great, the fries (both waffle and crinkle) were delicious, and the soup was my favorite. I plan to come back to try more of their menu and have a few drinks. Rascal's has some of the best deals you can find in the Apple Valley area and it's the perfect place to watch a football game. They just need to improve their service and they'll be good to go!

We were seated right away upon arrival and service was good and we were well taken care of the whole time. Starting from apps, we ordered the duck bacon wontons, and the brisket poutine. The duck bacon wontons were almost empanada size and were truly tasty. The pomegranate sriracha dipping sauce was the icing on the cake here as it was so sweet and rich and flavorful. The brisket poutine was pretty solid as well. There were definitely some beautiful cheese pulls involved when pullling apart the fry's. I wouldn't have minded a little more gravy, but still this dish was still pretty good. For my beverage I had the You're my boy blue beverage which is a bourbon, agave, blueberry and lemonade drink. It was tasty and the blueberry really stood out. Lastly, for the entree I had the anytime monte which is their take on a Monte Cristo sandwich. I love this thing wit a passion. Delicious French toast bread with fried ham and bacon and cheese inside. I then slathered it in the jalapeño strawberry jam which makes this sandwich complete. I asked for the sandwich with Fries and let me tell you, they know what they're doing with potatoes. Unbelievably crispy, double battered double fried fry's. So good! I think that this restaurant has wonderful staff, wonderful food, and the one thing it's maybe missing is the interior design is a bit dreary. It's just red everywhere, lots of windows and pretty plain furniture. I think if they can add some flare to the design it would really elevate the dining experience. Still, I was very happy with my time here hence a 5/5

You can make reservations and they have an app with a loyalty program. There often is a wait during dinner time, so if you can plan ahead I would make a reservation. Tavern Grill recently revamped their menu and they have some really great dishes! Some notable dishes: -- The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps appetizer is SO fresh and flavorful! You can add on cashews and avocado. The avocado slices were so thick and fresh. The wonton strips were some of the best I've had -- so light and crispy. The thai peanut sauce on the chicken was fantastic and the ginger sauce had a pretty decent kick to it. -- The Chicken Skewers entree is my go-to dish. It's such a classic and it has consistently been good every time I've ordered it. The chicken is juicy and the peppers and onions have a nice charred grilled flavor. The garlic parmesan sauce complements the dish well. -- The Chicken Wild Rice Soup is on the chunkier side, which I enjoyed! It was nice and creamy and didn't skimp out on the wild rice. The Clam Chowder served on Fridays was a little too salty. -- The Skillet Cookie is so warm and gooey! The ice cream melts right into the warm cookie. The cookie is on the doughier side and the outside is on the softer side. It's almost the size of the entire plate, so it's easily shareable between a few people. -- The Fish Fry Basket doesn't taste too greasy, and the tarter sauce complements the fish well. The fish has a clean flavor and on Fridays you can get a refill of 4 pieces of fried fish for an additional $7.50. You can add on their seasoned sour cream for an additional cost. The seasoned sour cream is thick and adds so much flavor to the waffle fries. Last time I was there I received very friendly and attentive service from Sam.

Spoke to Mike who claimed he was the GM. Mike was rude didn't want to help. I explained they charged me quite a bit more than the tip and bill. He stated he wasn't there and he couldn't explain why I was charged more. Said he wouldn't fix the bill but couldn't explain why I was charged more. I told him then he should just remove the tip and have it match the receipt. He said he wouldn't do that because I digested the food. I stated I'd pay for the food but you aren't going to tip your establishment 50% of my bill when I never authorized that. He hung up on me. Response to Tavern T the owner. As you may have read I already spoke to Mike who claimed he was the GM and he wouldn't resolve the issue. Why would it be different now? I even advised Mike I would be writing reviews and potentially filing a lawsuit. It wasn't about the money as much as principle. He laughed and said he encourages me to. Clearly he doesn't care about his patrons and is willing to lose business over small amounts of money

The cinnamon-infused whiskey tasted like the better version of fireball. In the evening, the restaurant is dimly lit and moody. -- The pork and pineapple fried rice from The Wanderer was delicious and the portion was huge! Easily shareable. The smoked pork shoulder was juicy and there was a generous amount of meat. The pineapple adds a hint of sweetness, and the creaminess of the egg ties the whole dish together. There's a little mayo drizzle that tastes like kewpie mayo on top. -- I really enjoyed the Quesa Birria Tacos from The Wanderer. The tacos were stuffed with meat, but I wish there were more onions. The consomme is actually insane and I debated drinking the rest of it from the bowl. -- The Oklahoma Onion Burger from Minnesota Burger Company was juicy and flavorful. The meat patties are huge and definitely will fill you up. The fries were standard. -- The Mangiofuoco Detroit Style Pizza from Square Cut Pizza had great thick crust with the right amount of crispiness. It's pretty heavy on the cheese and the portion is generous and easily shareable. I didn't taste much of the hot honey. It's not as good as Wrecktangle but it's on par with Bricksworth. -- The Dirt & Worms ice cream taco from Ice Cold Tacos came with a generous amount of chocolate ice cream, but not many oreo crumbles. The taco shell is made out of a waffle cone that was flavorful and aromatic. -- I've been to Curiouser Coffee during the day and they have super cute Alice in Wonderland themed drinks. The Absolutely Alice is full of butterscotch flavor and is very sweet. There's a bunch of greenery around and the vibes in the garden room are super cute.

You may need to park in the street (also free). Upon walking in, we were greeted by several employees! We opted to sit out on the patio, since it was a gorgeous night! After 10 minutes no one had come to the table... 15 minutes... still no one. No water, drinks or their complimentary chips. They weren't overly busy, so this didn't make sense to us. At minute 20 I got up to talk to a manger. The waitress saw me go up to the front and tried to wave me down to say "I got you." I'm sorry but 20 minutes in a restaurant that isn't packed is ridiculous. At the very least she could have brought water and said she would be with us soon, but she never acknowledged we were there. I spoke with the manager and noted that it had been 20 minutes with no one coming to our table. I told him i understood she had other tables but that we just hadn't even been acknowledged. He said "she doesn't have that many tables! Let's go!" He took our order on the spot! He brought us complimentary guacamole and horchata with our chips! That was a very nice gesture! I assured him we weren't out for freebies, we just wanted to order our food. He was very friendly and definitely took care of us! Our food came out very quickly and we were checked on multiple times. He definitely turned what was a very negative experience around! The vibes here are really great! The patio was so nice! It was well maintained and clean! The food: I got the pulpo (octopus) tacos! They had a tropical and buttery flavor to them! I opted to take the picked onion off mine but I'm sure that's tasty as well! The chips had a nice crisp and saltiness to them and the salad was one of the best complimentary ones we have tried! My boyfriend had the chicken fajitas and noted they were tasty with a solid portion. The horchata here is also pretty solid! Overall, this place is worth the try! Tip: don't get the dessert at the restaurant, grab it to go from the bodega! It's about $4-$5 cheaper!
