(7/18/23) Jim is bartending tonight. I have a Castle Danger in front of me. I'm going to mix it up tonight and try the Italian Sausage Farfalle. The Farfalle was piping hot and rich in flavor. Jim warned me that it was heavily salted. He was right. But I countered the salt with a lot of pepper. It tasted good to me. I'm going to follow it up with Apple Crisp a la mode with a Loon Juice Apple Cider. The folks sitting down the bar from me enjoyed their portion, so I'll give it a try as well. Went in for quick dinner, ordered the pulled pork with there chips the food was good but i ran of ice tea and did jot get a refill until about 10 min after i was done with my meal, the waiter/bartender was to interested in the tv plYing wheel of fortune. I am sorry to say it, but honestly the food we got here was barely edible, and the server's attitude alternated between "fake" and "easily offended" (after they made a mistake on my order). I would not come back here and neither would my travelling companion, who thought the food was "so-so". I went with two stars based on the so-so food. The server should not be working with the public, IMO. read more

Ate here out of convenience. Felt like an upscale Perkins with the decor and one server running the entire restaurant. Our server was nice but slow. Red wine she recommended was not full bodied as I preferred and was not very tasty. Ordered the cream of mushroom and chicken wild rice soup. Very standard, nothing amazing but hit the spot. Had the shrimp cocktail and the sauce was sort of chunky though the shrimp was big and plump. Pork chop dish came before the salad which was odd. So when the salad came out after we had the pork chops, we didn't eat much of it. The steak was very chewy so that didn't help. If you like mediocre food, then go at it. But I wouldn't be back unless it's out of convenience again. read more

I've stayed at this location dozens of times, due to convenient location to clients. I will avoid eating or drinking at the restaurant because of the service and poor quality of food. Anytime I've attempted to give it another shot..the negative tone and complaining of the bartender reminds me again to take A $10 Uber to many great local places. The food was good, everytime I called to order it sounded like a rock concert on the phone and I could barely hear the waiter. I wish they offered room service too. Website menu wasn't working either, we finally found a barcode on a piece of paper in the hotel room and realized it was the menu when we scanned it with our phones. Food was good, service was good. I don't normally review bars, but when I do, it's because they brought me the wrong drinks two nights a row. I order a "Surly" (an IPA), and I'm brought a Summit EPA, of which, is flat. Bar tender verified. Second night, I order a rye and ginger beer. First round was perfectly good. Second round was a watered with stale ginger ale. Food is mediocre but in all fairness, I have not sat in the restaurant, and I can't expect much more from a Marriot. read more

We ordered room serve from Jake's after our children were sleep. The service was friendly and quick! Our food was very quietly set up in our room. Even better, the food was tasty. We had a beef burger and turkey burger. I was already impressed by the variety in the menu, you don't usually find that much variety in a hotel menu. I ate here last Friday night, because I was waiting for my wife to fly in, and it was a very handy location. I ordered the walleye and it was delicious! It came with rice pilaf and mixed vegetables, and it was quite feeling. I received two large pieces of well I sautéed with Panko crumbs, and it was not greasy at all. I was in Bloomington MN for a week on business and luckily for me Jake's was located in my hotel. I had dinner at the hotel every night because it was snowy and ball shrinking cold and just too miserable to leave the hotel any more than necessary. So here is my summary of a weeks worth of food: The salads are good the greens are fresh & crisp! The Cobb & Buffalo Chicken & even a simple dinner salad all make for a good choice. The Mushroom & Wild Rice Soup is quite good and nice way to warm up your insides on a dreary day. The big disappointment for me was actually the steak. The flavor was good but I ordered it medium and got well done instead. Yuk, no meat should be well done--might as well eat shoe leather! Actually though the biggest problem was that the cut of meat was mostly all fat & gristle. It's a 12 ounce ribeye (which I know is a marbled cut of beef) but this was more than half fat and gristle. The interior is fine, nothing fancy and typical of a hotel restaurant. They do have a bountiful bar with a great variety/selection of wine, beer and alcohol. Overall, the kitchen is crazy fast, the wait staff is attentive, some more than others. They did make amends for the disappointing steak with a nice slice of Carrot Cake. read more

Bar: Horrible service!!! Waited for bar drinks. Never served. Bartender was sooooo rude. She screamed at me when I asked to be served after she served 4 other people who came up after me first. The customer behind just shook his head and walked off. Restaurant: Waited over 30 minutes for our meals (party of 8) only 1 other table in the place. They forgot one order, screwed up one order and one never made it to the table. Waitress just said oops room service took your order. Plus: the french dip was good. Located within the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Jake's Restaurant & Bar is a very classy establishment. We were looking for a restaurant to seat us and get my brother fed within the hour so my dad could drop him off at the airport. We previously tried getting in at Outback Steakhouse, and there was no way with a 30 min wait-time to be seated. The ambiance is great; it is a small restaurant with white tablecloths. I was glad that I was still wearing my suit from work, because it was a very intimate setting. They were able to seat our group of 5 without a wait time. We were thrilled! The staff was very attentive to our drinks... it seemed like after even a few sips that our water glasses were refilled... I thought this was particularly impressive for 7 pm on a Friday night! And this is just a family thing, but when we saw french onion dip and homemade chips on the menu, our socks were officially knocked off. That was seriously the best way to enjoy french onion dip... I love the crispy edges with slightly tender insides of freshly cut and fried homemade potato chips--- you can still taste the potato flavor that has been completely lost in your typical commercially made potato chip from the bag! I ordered the ribeye steak, which is the only steak on the menu and one of the priciest items on the menu. It was well worth it! They gave a great cut of meat and cooked it to medium perfection. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes with russets that had some of the russet potato skins mixed inside. It also had my favorite veggie, brocolini, sauteed on the side. To start I also ordered a cup of the minnesota wild rice soup, and it was heavenly. You can tell that the soup was made fresh that day and NOT from a can. It was also refreshing to know that they incorporated a minnesotan staple into the menu with the wild rice. My mom ordered the salmon, my aunt and dad ordered a salad, and my brother ordered a large burger... they all appeared to be satisfied with their order! Loved the ambiance, the food and the service. The proximity to the airport is also a major plus. Highly recommend this restaurant for when you crave and expect quality american food! read more

Based on ONE meal: Hotel restaurants can be hit or miss; this one was a hit! My husband and I both had iced tea and cream of Minnesota Wild rice soup. Both were superb. We were recommended to go here, but thankfully, we only ordered one appetizer and one drink. Each of us ordered a different drink and both were horrible. So horrible that it was tough to drink. The spinach and artichoke dip was horrendous. The bread was good, but the tortilla chips were stale. The staff was incredibly nice and it's a great location if you're staying in the area, but it's not worth it. Sorry to the staff. Popped over to this place when the restaurant next door wait was too long. From first look the place pretty classy. The menu is okay, there aren't a lot of choices and there isn't a lot of variety nor is the menu very detailed. I tried asking the waitress a question about the menu and she seemed really confused. It also took about ten minutes before we were introduced to her and this place was pretty dead. When we got the food it was okay but kinda bland. I had the pork chop and it could have used some sort of sauce. The price for the food was high considering the size of the portions. The only highlight of the meal was the dessert, I had Apple crisp and someone else had carrot cake both were very good. Overall, everything was okay but I wouldn't come back. read more

Came here for lunch on a beautiful august day and wasn't disappointed. We decided to sit on the patio which was nice with a fountain and nice landscaping. This really drowned out the sound from Yankee Doodle which is just step from the patio area. They also had plenty of umbrellas so you had a sun/shade option. My girlfriend and I decided to share a couple of sandwiches so we each had one of their chicken ones and wow were they good and big. I was very impressed. The fries were just ok nothing special and the only reason they don't get 5 stars was the sandwiches were on the pricier side with them being 12-14 dollars depending. read more

This is the only hotel that I will stay at in the Minneapolis area. The proximity to the airport, the b underground parking, and the excellent staff make this one of the best places to stay and eat in the Twin Cities. The turkey burger is fantastic; the ribeye is always perfect, and the chicken and wild rice soup has no comparison anywhere. The bartender is one of the absolute best, funny, gregarious, and one of kind will keep me staying there for years to come. This is a must stay and eat. read more

I came here with 2 co workers on a Sunday to finish out our night. We chose this spot because it was close to their hotel. When we arrived, there were 2 patrons, 1 at the bar and 1 at the tables, so we made eye contact with the bartender and sat at a table. One of my co workers remarked that the bartender also serves the tables since she did it the other night he was there. It took the bartender 10 minutes to come over to take our drink order and she seemed to be annoyed. I ordered a coffee, 1 coworker ordered the house merlot, and the other coworker ordered a Fireball and ginger ale. The bartender remarked that they didn't have Fireball and offered another drink to which my coworker declined. When the bartender went to the bar, she began loudly talking about my coworker saying, "He wants this cinnamon Irish Whiskey....well, he can take his business somewhere else!" I have never experienced such unprofessional, distasteful conduct. Needless to say, we left and took our business elsewhere. read more

Here for a week on business. Had the buffalo chicken wings appetizer as the main course with the chicken wild rice soup first. Soup was excellent as reviewed by other guests. The wings were pleasantly hot but meat was dry. They came with a side of blue cheese with celery and a garnish leaf of romaine. The tableware and glassware were very clean. The waitress was new so we will give her a pass until she gets her sea legs. Recommend adding a pitcher of ice water to table when more than one member of the party orders buffalo chicken entrees. We stopped here on a Friday with a around 13 people in our party. It wasn't very busy so it was strange that our service was so poor. Our waitress seemed to only be able to handle a few orders at a time. Just at our table! She'd take a few orders then leave, then come back quite a while later and take a few more. The drinks were delivered that way too. Then it happened the same with the food. Two people didn't even get their orders taken and we had to hunt the waitress down. We ate in shifts.
