Happy hour runs 3-6. Appetizers are $8, wine $6. Noisy but still able to easily hold a conversation lighting is dim and tavern like. Started with the onion rings which are huge and come in a serving of 6, which is more than plenty. They were extremely salty, the batter was over seasoned and we couldn't finish our order. We also tried the yum yum wings served w ranch. They were sweet with good flavor but the chicken itself was overcooked and dry, we couldn't finish them. Watermelon salad with grilled chicken was delicious as was the mad cow burger (3/4 lb!). The chicken sandwich on Texas toast was good but after eating half we realized it was still pink in the middle. Server (Amanda) was wonderful but overall we were disappointed that half of our food missed the mark. Unfortunately very inconsistent quality in both food and service. The first time I went, I got one of their specialty cocktails and the wrangler burger with fries. We also tried an order of the onion rings. They were huge and had a good beer batter on them. The horseradish sauce paired well with them. The two winners at this place though were the kids meals and a surprising pasta dish. The kids meal clock in at only $6 but the quality and portion size was a great deal. My kid's pizzas were made fresh and super tasty. The fruit side was actually fresh fruit and not a stale fruit cup. My wife didn't feel like a burger and so got the Carbonara Pasta. It was super tasty and the portion made it into a two-meal dish. I stole a couple bites and it was super tasty. Honestly, I would probably come back and order that instead of a burger. I'm a huge fan of this place in Eagan! In the summer, it's great to sit outside on their patio, but they have ample seating inside as well. It can definitely get pretty loud and echoey inside and has a light sports bar energy, so keep this in mind if you're with people who are hard of hearing or like a softer ambiance. I was shocked to find out Mad Cow was a chain because I had only heard of the Eagan location. My brother and I went late one night and tried to sample almost everything on the menu. Our bellies would not allow this however we ordered the honey wings extra crispy, house fries, and burger of the month which included pepper jack and crispy onion rings. Everything was decent but not the best I ever had. The ambiance provides an excellent venue for after-work happy hours and late-night convos. Mad Cow is not quite family-friendly as I can see the crowd having the propensity to get rowdy once the drinks start pouring in. I went here for lunch with a coworkers because I had never been there. Well I was very impressed with the service and atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and even gave us a few recommendations for burgers and appetizers. We started with the wontons, pizzas rolls and pot stickers. Wife ordered the monte cristo with fries, I ordered the reuben with fries, and our side ordered mac and cheese. All food was served in a timely manner, but if I'm being honest, it was just mediocre food. Add two beers and a lemonade to that order, and the final bill was $94 after tax, convenience fee, and tip - that's a bit much for two sandwiches and mac 'n cheese. Server was fine - he scooped up a $15 tip by taking our order and then coming by to ask if we were ready for our check. Ultimately, we won't be back. Mad Cow is just way too vanilla, nothing special, especially at $30+ per plate (inclusive of a kid's plate of mac n' cheese). This seemed to be my burger day starting with here. It's very dark inside and felt cool. Then I noticed the patio and how bright it was. I'm not usually the type for the patio, but I am here. It overlooks the most beautiful pond I ever saw. The type where you want to dive right in. First thing I see on the table is spotty flatware. I got a burger, of course and it was pretty good with neatly placed lettuce on request. When I went to put on the ketchup, inside there was a good sized charred spot on the bun. I was told the soup of the day was my favorite, mushroom. To my shock it was loaded with chopped pimentos. Kind of ruined it, but it was not bad otherwise and had huge chunks of mushrooms. Yum Yum burger is supposed to have wings sauce but had almost none and was extremely dry. Wife ordered cheeseburger rare and it was tough as a hockey puck. We both ordered chips as a side which was served in a soup cup with the chips pulverized into fragments like the bottom of a bag. We went to the restaurant hoping to eat lunch before we headed out shopping. We sat for over 5 minutes before we were greeted. Once we received our drinks, we sat and waited for over 10 minutes before I had to get up and ask the waitress if we could order our food and get refills on our beverages. As we sat there, another 12 minutes with no refills, we finally decided that this was not a place we would like to spend our hard earned money. I asked the server for the bill for the drinks, and she just started making excuses, even though they were not busy. She walked in back to the employee area without printing our bill. Super excited for this new Eagan Restaurant as they are apart of one of our favorite local chains the "Muddy"! Mad Cow is located where Jakes used to be conveniently off of Yankee Doodle. Pulling into the restaurant there is more parking then needed as they share with two other chain restaurants. Decor is warm and modern with a full L bar with 10 beers on tap and their wood burning oven in the background. The location had two garage doors in the back with an amazing patio with large pond water feature. TVs are all over this place and stereo system has great audio with the juke box option. Menu has options for everyone however, I think the wings and onion wings are the star. Here's what we had: -I had the boneless wings 6 full tenders incredibly juicy paired with celery and carrots as well as dipping sauce. I order a side of onion rings which were larger then my sons face and so good. -Kaitlyn (wife) had a burger and cottage cheese. She like it and said it was very good but who can trust someone who eats cottage cheese so her review is nil. -Vinnie (15yo) has the Holy Pepperoni Flat Bread. This thing was huge and loaded with the pepp! He said that the sauce was tangy and piping hot! -#Arizz_35 (1yr) had chicken tenders and apple sauce. Chicken tenders were juicy and crisp. He also decided to have some celery, carrots, and an onion ring. Overall this place has the makings to be one of the best places to eat in the area. Plenty of seating and a nice patio to enjoy on a summer night. I ordered the yum yum boneless wings and a wedge salad. My friends got the portobello sandwich and the yum yum burger. Food took longer than it should've to come out. Yum yum burger had no yum yum sauce on it and after telling the waitress, I think my friend waited about 15 minutes for the side of sauce. I asked for a water refill and the waitress ran off with my water glass for at least 10 minutes. Definitely forgot about it. The yum yum wings were AMAZING and the wedge salad was good but it was swimming in dressing. All in all, I liked my meal, but my friends were less than impressed with the wait and the food issues. Our waitress needed some more training or something for sure. I get that it's hard to find wait staff right now and restaurants just went through hell and back but it's still annoying to have poor service when you dish out nearly $20 for a decent weeknight dinner (after tipping 20% because serving is hard work and you walk/run your a** off, even if you forget things). They gained a start back because they DID take some $ off my friend's bill for the yum yum sauce fiasco and our waitress was very nice and apologetic.
