My only disappointment was the portion of protein for the price. For a $23.99 meal, I expected a lot more chicken. The veggies definitely outnumbered the small pieces of chicken, which made it feel a little unbalanced and not quite worth the cost. The restaurant was recommended to us by a family friend. Our 5 siblings from across the United States were there. My husband had a lamb burger, fries and a salad. I had a dish called Casablanca, which has chicken or shrimp as the protein, mushrooms and onions with a cream sauce over rice. Our food was amazing. I had come here for years in my teens and early twenties before moving to the north metro. The vibes here are fun and relaxed. There is free parking but it is a bit limited, especially when they get busy on the weekends. There are THC drinks here (for those who like to partake) They also have hookah for nice nights on the patio. There is an extensive alcohol list as well! The food here is good! My boyfriend and I both got gyros and liked them! We also really enjoyed the potato chips! Great flavor and crunch! The wings were a bit of a miss for us. The house seasoning has a sweetness that we didn't really care for and the wings seemed a bit dry. They lost a star from me for service. Out waiter disappeared multiple times, didn't check on us and seemed to be in a rush. He also seemed annoyed with us? I don't know, but the vibe was not friendly. When we first walked in, we were not greeted. Actually the phasing that was used was "Do you guys need help?" Ummm your sign says to "wait to be seated." Great beer options with solid Mediterranean food. Personally, I often get the falafel or the spicy hummus. People I go with often order the lamb shank or the pizza. Came here on a random Friday with hopes of being able to smoke some hookah but we had called in advance kind of knowing that we wouldn't be able to because it had been raining almost all day. Will definitely need to come back to do that though! When we came, there was live belly dancing, which was pretty cool! Also at the time that we came, it was pretty busy. I love this restaurant! I usually get the gyro dinner here. We were here recently, and my partner got the stir fry. I had a taste, and it was honestly top tier good food! I wouldn't think to get stir fry at a place like this, but after tasting it, I'd consider it the next time here. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and still had some snap. You could choose rice or noodles with the stir fry. Don't sleep on anything these guys prepare. Every meal we've had here (three recent visits now), have been fabulous. Came here after arriving to Minneapolis on a flight that was delayed multiple times. Was so thankful for a restaurant with vegetarian options and a kids menu that was open late. The kid enjoyed the kebab plate and mango lemonade, I enjoyed the falafels and chips, our friend tried the Mediterranean platter and was not disappointed. I could have sworn I threw a review up for this place long ago, but not? This place is basically on the opposite side of the metro for me, which isn't necessarily problematic. Still, part of the reason for going here is that Ansari's gets some of the best beer offerings on their tap in the Twin Cities, so going here and seeing a tap list, and one can only drink one, maybe two beers can be fraught with disappointment because you have to be responsible. This menu at Ansari's is incredible. I can't think of a bad item on the menu unless it is eggplant or artichoke-forward. My favorite thing is the Tahini salad, which I consider ordering as a meal. The Jerusalem plate is incredible because if you can't decide, you've got a little of everything. In my opinion, the other must-haves are the lamb shank or the linguini with lamb meatballs...you won't go away hungry. This is one of the few places I know where I would go out of my way to eat here...and, more importantly, come here for the excellent beers they procure. read more

When we found ourselves in the area and hungry past open hours of other restaurants, I know it was Ansari's time. I'd had this spot on my must-try list for ages, and so glad we finally went! Inside, the vibe is hard to pin down but it makes it kinda eclectic. On one half, it's got an authentic Meditteranean restaurant feel with decor, curved archways, and a stage with a literal belly dancer performing for guests. On the other side...it's a bar with pull tabs and apparently an incredible beer selection?! It doesn't really make sense and it's a tale of two vibes, but I kinda dig it. Our server was so friendly and helpful with pointing out her favorites on the extensive menu. It was SO hard to choose - everything sounded amazing! We started with the sampler platter - it was HUGE and each thing was unreal! My brother got the gyros garlic pasta, and it was basically Greek fettucini alfredo. I could DRINK that sauce. My mom got the lamb shank and it was huge! Delicious couscous and veggies with it as well. I got the shawarma dinner, and again, HUGE portion and exactly the flavors I was craving. A Revolution Brewing tap takeover brought me to Ansaris. Not only did they bring their top notch lagers and IPAs, the brought some of the world class examples of their barrel programs. The V.S.O line of beers in their portfolio contains the most coveted blends of barrels from the team. They not only brought one of my favorites, but brought THREE different ones! I enjoyed small pours of four different beers while sitting at the bar. V.S.O.J. (Very Special Old Jacket): One of my all time favorite English Barleywines. It is a Cuvee of English Barleywines that each have been aged between two and three in Bourbon Barrels. Huge sweet cherry flavors with ripe plum and molasses. Beautiful barleywine and one I always return to. Double Barrel V.S.O.D. (2023): An Imperial Stout that is aged in two different barrels in order to really pull out the Bourbon Barrel Flavors. I get strong spice, cocoa, and vanilla. V.S.O. Gravedigger: An Imperial Scotch Ale aged in a combination of Eagle Rare, Elijah Craig, and WhistlePig Rye Barrels. Maple and dried apricots with just a hint of smokiness. Coconut Deth (2024): An Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels with Coconut. This is the second time I've been here. I had to get the Italian fries again. Super thin, cheesy, and crunchy. My friend told me about the wings and they were pretty good, but in my opinion, Burger Dive will always have the best dry rub wings. Their hummus is seriously the best out there. Very impressed here. I would like to see more portions for some of the veggies, but you do get a handful of options. Homemade chips are good, but very salty. I regret not getting their Greek salad as that's something I think about often. Will have to go back specifically for that next time - that and the tiramisu! This is hands down our favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Their gyros are always tender and juicy (nothing is more sad than dry gyros meat) and i love that uou can get classic lamb or chicken, which is also really good. Salad is always fresh. Their tzatziki is amazing and they will let you get it in soup containers (do it). The falafel wrap is a favorite, as is the steak hummus, stir fry with couscous, and we just recently tried the saganaki (fried cheese) and it was delicious. The restaurant itself is smaller, and they have belly dancers several times a week. We love doing takeout. The bar is usually pretty busy, definitely a local hang. I also recently had their catering, and it is super reasonably priced, and they come set it all up for you, which is incredibly helpful. If you want hard to find beer and pretty good Mediterranean food, you can't go wrong with Ansari's. Haven't been at night but for lunch and early dinner the vibe is really relaxed and the staff super friendly. It's a pretty big space with a stage for music and occasional belly dancing. The food and drinks are a little pricey. Especially since I think they've recently shrank portion sizes. I remember getting 3 falafel on the vegetarian sampler but now you only get 1 in the lunch version and 2 on the dinner. That extra ball sets you back $2-3. They load up the dish with oil so make sure to move the spanakopita or it'll get really soggy real quick. Overall it's great if you like beer but I think there are better options in the area for middle eastern or Mediterranean food. Especially given the price. read more

I met a colleague here for lunch. Despite a beautiful afternoon, we skipped the patio seating and just grabbed a table inside. I love Greek salads so my choose of meals was easy. They have lots of options and have a nice lunch menu. My colleague got a wrap and I noticed the homemade chips that I would have loved to try. My salad was perfect. Tons of cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives and feta cheese. All fresh. I also liked that they gave us a bowl of pita bread to share. Love pita bread with my Greek salads. Service was excellent. Two of the best Mezze items I've had in a long time. The sampler Platter and the Steak Bites are both top top notch. Not only were the portions substantial, but the flavors were spot on. My wife and I were just in town for a night and found this gem across from our hotel. Finding good Mediterranean Cuisine is hard enough but to stumble upon it is even rarer. If the main dishes are anything close to what they were offering in the appetizer menu then your experience will be well worth it. Emily (If I'm remembering correctly) was our hostess and server. I've ordered from Ansari when I used to work in the area. This is my first time dining in the restaurant. I met a friend for our annual holiday dinner. The inside is large and dim. There was a belly dancer performing on the small stage. For an app we ordered the spicy red pepper hummus. It came with warm pita bread and was delicious. For my main course I ordered the Casablanca with shrimp. Soooooo good. It comes with a protein, mushrooms and onions over rice. The sauce is a garlic sauce but not as garlicky as I would have thought or liked, but still very delicious. Our server was very nice and checked on us often to make sure we needed anything. I was very excited about this place. We went for a friends birthday and we were a group of 20. It was steady busy, but there was no room in the parking lot and the lot was extremely icey. Few of us almost got hurt in the lot! Service was decent, but the server seemed new to have a big group and didn't write things down correctly/ didn't separate tabs right away. It became a mess when bills came. Drinks: I had the PB & J Manhattan. It was somewhat room temp and my ice cube was melting fast. Must have been a new bartender too. It tasted good though... a little sweet but still tasty. Many in our crew ordered beers. Tons of beers on their menu! Food: I tried a bunch as some of us were sharing. This worked well to get a variety. Appetizers: Spanakopita (best thing we ate!!! That garlic spread with it, made it!!). Calamari- tasty/ super tender / smelt fishy but wasn't in flavor. Awesome spicy dipping sauce! Italian fries- ok... pretty much a thin crust pizza with garlic, but the dipping marinara was tasty! The pita was so fresh and soft! Entrees: Falafel- I love falafel and theirs was crispy on outside and soft inside. The tahini was not our favorite as I would prefer hummus. We shared some lamb kabobs, because we love lamb! The flavor was good, but dang was it over cooked and cold! We didn't complain as we could tell our server was overstimulated and already messed up our plate. (It came out with chips... we should have eaten those vs the rice!!). Their chips are amazing! Overall, not our fav Mediterranean meal, but saw a few others that loved their and it looked better than ours! Gyro garlic pasta (looked fresh and tasty) and gyro wrap looked amazing. Casual dining with a variety and a relatively long menu of options between Greek, Lebanese, and Mediterranean selections. Portions seem to be highly variable. But I didn't leave hungry! Never have been to a restaurant with my own Family name either! So ended up buying two Beer glasses as a souvenir. The service was great. Prompt, attentive, and resourceful. First time coming here with my husband. We decided to do a bit of an untraditional Christmas evening dinner. We originally were thinking of going to Mediterranean Grill in Burnsville but they were closed. Found this gem as a next in line for Mediterranean and it was open! We booked a table on OpenTable and we're seated quickly when we arrived. Our waiter, Jason, was very pleasant and helpful with the menu. I also appreciated the fun holiday attire that some of the staff wore (our waiter Jason had on a great 'fit!), which helped to make it a bit more festive. I ordered the Shawarma Dinner with Chicken, subbed the rice for extra veggies and got pita bread on the side. My hubby got the The Twin Gyros Dinner with an extra side of chicken. Both meals were very filling, good sized portions and expertly cooked! We decided to split a dessert and got the Blueberry Cheesecake - omg, it was delicious!!! The only negative feedback I have is it was a bit dirty (floors, seats, etc) when we visited but keeping in mind how crazy of a day they likely had. And, I'm sure it's especially hard on holidays to bring staff in to work. Also, this is more of a "bar vibe" than restaurant vibe. Take that alongside pull tabs , it brings more of that feel and environment. Best Mediterranean food in the SE side of the Twin Cities? I'd go with Ansari's! I've eaten here multiple times - both takeout and dine-in. The food is consistently good - although I've never ventured far from the classic gyro. I'd most commonly order Ansari's with my family so we'd get the big gyro platter or gyros dinner where you could build your own sandwhich. Cheat code: ask for some of the other sauces to mix with the traditional tzatziki. There was a spicy hot one that added some real flare to our meal! If you stop in to the restaurant note that they commonly have belly dancers in the evening for a show. I was caught off guard, but it's entertaining! Gyro is served with teriyaki sauce and garlic sauce, both were good. My friends got the Greek salad and said it was good. There's a variety of options for food and drinks to pick from. The restaurant wasn't very busy around 9pm, but took a little while for us to be helped. However, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She even shared her favorite dishes with us. The restaurant has a small stage for belly dancing and is a little on the darker side, but I'd say its part of the vibe. Very Tasty and great service. Went in to try their beef kebab with cilantro hummus and it delivered. The hummus texture was great and flavorful. The meat was very soft and flavorful. I've loved this place for years, and have gotten takeout every few months since COVID hit. They even have a little drive up window for picking up orders. Ansari's is my ideal comfort food. I like to get the kebab meal for two that comes with your choice of kebabs (I like to get an assortment of chicken, steak, shrimp, and veggie...depending on my mood), Greek salad, pita bread, and rice.
