We came here for lunch after iFly and wow it has gone downhill. My son and his family used to come here a lot but haven't been lately. The food is just not good. The space itself is nice, clean, well-maintained and the staff is friendly. I ordered a Reuben (duh) with coleslaw, the twins had Cavatappi with cheese sauce, and KJ had a turkey club because they were out of the jus for the French Dip. I can say the girls' waffle fries were really good. The Reuben was just bad. It comes on white bread and the corned beef was sliced and stacked. The sauerkraut had been on the grill, which is nice, but there just wasn't enough. The corned beef was very dry and I was unable to cut through it with just a table knife. I asked for extra sauce to try to salvage a few bites but the sauce itself (their Smash sauce) is NOT good on a Reuben; it's very mayo-forward. I literally ate 1/4 of my sandwich and I had enough. The Cole slaw unfortunately was so lightly dressed it was like eating plain cabbage. Overall a pretty disappointing outing and we won't be back. read more

The Tavern Grill: 5 stars for Independence Day! To celebrate Independence Day, my Family and I decided to try a new restaurant and The Tavern Grill was a great choice! From the moment we walked in we were impressed. The atmosphere at The Tavern Grill is really cool and beautiful. Every detail was perfect for a holiday dinner. Our server was awesome too. She was super nice, attentive and added to the overall good vibe of our meal. Great service makes a big difference and she was a big part of why our experience was so good. And the food! I loved the waffle fries - perfect and delicious. But the house-made Ginger Ale was the real winner for me. It was so refreshing and had a unique flavor I really liked. Overall The Tavern Grill exceeded all expectations and was a great choice for our holiday dinner. I highly recommend it for a great meal, beautiful setting and top notch service. I met a friend for an easy week night dinner and we enjoyed our time at Tavern. I've frequented the Edina location countless times over the years and was excited to find that there is now a location at Ridgedale! I already had my favorite menu items picked out to order and split: seasoned waffle fries with seasoned sour cream, bang bang shrimp, and thai salad. It was the perfect trifecta. Flavors bursting and everything was perfectly cooked. The location is convenient and the staff was easy, attentive, prompt and friendly. Only one star deduction because the mood/vibe of this location is much brighter and not as cozy as the Edina location. It's more of a bar scene here. Still like the food tho! read more

Came here for a birthday dinner and the food was pretty middle of the game. I got the thai chicken salad and it definitely needed more dressing. It tasted super fresh and the portion size was very generous. I also had a spicy cranberry mocktail and that was probably to highlight of my time. The service was good, the server was very attentive and checked in on our table at the appropriate times. 5:15 PM, Thursday, November 6th. Service was very good, menu now streamlined. Overall food quality has dropped, I feel significantly. Chicken finger appetizer, inedible!!!!! Look unappealing, small pieces, too much breading. Ordered a rice side, just plain white rice in a bowl! No seasoning or flavor, but server said we were supposed to ask for a seasoning?? I'm sad to see this restaurant go down hill lately. We came here recently and everything was just a bit off. Now I am giving them some slack because it was dinner on a weekend but still very subpar experience. We tried the "bang bang shrimp" appetizer and I am sad to say it was one of the worst things I have been served in a restaurant in a long time. First of all, visually it did not look like an appetizer; the pile of rice and veggies seemed very out of place. More importantly, and I am not trying to sound dramatic, but it tasted revolting. There was something very unpleasant that I can't put my finger on, either the actual shrimp or the breading. We brought it up to the waiter, he sent the manager over and nothing came of it, not even an apology and she couldn't even tell us what ingredients they use in the breading to figure out the possible cause of the foul flavor. The entrees were much better, although we waited close to an hour for the main course. I am glad I chose to have Alfredo sauce that is usually drizzled on the skewers on the side because that is an odd choice with skewers and it didn't taste good. The Beure Blanc chicken was good and the sauce on that dish is excellent, however the rice that was served with everything we ordered was just ok and the asparagus was flavorless and dry. Maybe we expected too much of this place, idk.. we will be back but to be safe will stick with drinks and waffle fries and basic bar fare. read more

I am usually a huge fan of the tavern restaurants but this location was underwhelming. The restaurant was very humid and warm. The service was slow and the servers rarely checked in. They served the child's meal last and the food was subpar compared to when had at their other locations. It was not busy but the servers seemed stretched thin. After ordering a drink, I asked for ice water. It did not come until after the meal was served. We met some friends for afternoon drinks but the quality was lacking for me. The decor was an upscale tavern, as was the food. I enjoyed that they had a QR code leading diners immediately to an allergen menu! Unfortunately, while there was a variety of gluten-free options, those options also included soy (severe intolerance) so I stuck to drinks. The cucumber basil gimlet was alright. It tasted heavily of cucumber with a hint of gin but the basil was undetectable. As for the spicy mango marg, it was not good. It was heavy on the jalapeno, light on the Tito's, and mixed with a watered-down wannabe mango mixer. A great addition to the Ridgedale Mall area and it really fills a void since the closure of Champps. This location has been vacant forever so it's great that we finally have another great choice in the mall area. Very good selection of food options and I love how they are always rotating their beer taps to local beers. They offer build your own pizza options as well as build your own Bloody Mary's for their Sunday brunch. I have yet to try their Sunday brunch, but it looks very good and I can't wait to check it out. Great happy hour specials and join their club. I think it's a one time fee of $20 and pays for itself after a visit or 2. read more

Regular American fare. Pretty big space with large booths. A member of my party ordered a salad. The lettuce was not super fresh and was browning which was disappointing. I took my 7 year old grandaughter there for lunch yesterday!! The place looks great and was not busy. The hostess said Maddie will be right over, but that would be 19 minutes later... We were seated at our booth & after 19 minutes was greeted by Maddie our server... I kept on looking around for a server but Maddie was busy standing behind the bar with no customers... She say's what would you like to order.... No welcome in, do you have any questions on our menu etc. I had the Build your own salad and my grandaughter had lids Mac & Cheese. We got a to go box for the Mac&Cheese and the bill... I think that if you are going to survive in this location that you train your staff more on speed, customer service etc. I noticed more people arriving in with no server coming to them either. I've hosted a few work happy hours here because of the location (tons of parking at the mall), plenty of appetizer variety, and a good selection of beer and cocktails. Nice set up & the restaurant is new! Disappointing the servers are more only concerned about there tips and the hours they work. I go to the restaurant maybe once a week different times and I only go back to TRY to give them another chance. The managers are too busy to notice because they are training in new servers. The host is never friendly. The bartenders act entitled, butting heads with co workers & just focused on tips. I came in during lunch 1:15 . Only 3 people at the bar, I wasn't greeted until 20 minutes later. Then the FOOD takes 20 minutes or MORE. This is when it's not even busy. This was my first time at Tavern Grill, I ordered the Build Your Own Salad. I liked being able to choose the different toppings myself. Surprisingly great food on our first visit. We had the Mediterranean salad (huge), calamari app, and a gluten free pizza. Everything had great flavor and the ingredients were fresh and prepped well. We've been coming here for about a year now. Most of the time, we'd give it 4 stars but recently we had a bad experience. I'm hoping it's just a "one off". We arrived after Christmas shopping at the mall and it was about 7pm and it wasn't crowded at all. We were seated promptly and someone took our drink orders. So far so good. We got our appetizers - cheese curds which were good and hot, but our drink orders had not arrived yet even though they were placed almost immediately upon arrival. Eventually the drinks did come. Our food took a long time to arrive - I got the meat loaf, which was cold-ish. My dining partner got the Thai chicken lettuce wraps. We've ordered them elsewhere and you usually get firm lettuce. She got romaine lettuce which was quite limp. She'd try to eat it but it kept falling apart, spilling the contents all over her plate. Meanwhile, the waitress never came back to bring us more drinks. She did acknowledge our empty glasses, saying she'd be right back, but she never returned. We brought up the lettuce to the waitress who said, yeah, that's too bad. We brought it up to the manager who said, yeah, the lettuce looks limp today but otherwise no effort to adjust the bill or offer an alternate meal. Our experience (until last night) had been pretty good. We'll give it another try to see if things have improved but if not, we'll probably start going somewhere else. read more

Ate here for the first time today. There was a small mix up with our order initially, which caused it to come out a little later than it should have. The manager went out of her way to come and tell us about it and apologize, and offered us a complimentary appetizer and dessert. The food was wonderful - every bit of it. I was so impressed with how they handled the issue with the order. We had the build-your-own burgers, the pretzel appetizer, the key lime pie and the coleslaw. My husband and I went to the new Ridgedale Mall location. He ordered a pizza and they made it with chicken instead of the bacon he ordered. I had the chicken, rice, and asparagus with a lemon sauce. The chicken was dry and over cooked with burnt edges. The asparagus was very unevenly cooked so some parts were mush and some were still hard. The sauce was good. The server was friendly and did a pretty good job keeping our sodas filled. We thought we'd go be them a second chance by trying their Father's Day Brunch. Called for a reservation and was told they wouldn't make one for a party of 7. Called back and tried to make one for 5 (my family) and one for 2 (my parents). Lady put the manager in the phone who said no parties greater than 4. Tried to make one for 4 and one for 3. He said no split groups. I told him we would not be back and he hung up. Went for dinner but ended up just eating from the happy hour menu and food was so good didn't end up getting dinner. Will be back to try more of the menu! read more
