Very poor experience today on Fathers Day. We were told we couldn't sit on the patio even though there were empty tables available. The restaurant was very under staffed. Waited over an hour for our food. It all came at different times piece by piece. The waitress must have brought food to our table 20 times as everything was brought separately, not as a complete meal. Kids meals arrived last. My meal was missing the breakfast potatoes, which I never received. Very disappointing experience. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

I have been here in the past and it was great. I had a meat lovers pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I ever had. That was two months ago. This weekend I had a friend of mine drive out here to get a pizzas. NOT THE SAME. Pizza was over cooked. Barely any cheese and the pepperoni was so thin you could practically see through it. We agreed that there are many frozen pizzas out there for $10 that are way better than the $28 pizza we had. read more

Stopped in here after visiting a local apple orchard. I have never been here, but was pleasantly surprised. The pretzels and beer cheese were some of the best I've had. The loaded fries was another dish worth mentioning - super tasty. Everything came out hot. My partner and friend ordered a bloody and loved it. I'm not a fan of bloodies, but this is one of the best bloodies I've ever tried. The service wasn't anything spectacular, but I care more about the quality of food. Checked all of my boxes. Modern brewpub and sports bar that is in a kind of remote location but I feel is worth a look if you're in the area. We want for a walk on the very nice state trails in the area and decided to stop in to try this place we'd heard a lot about. Very open and modern dining room with a smaller, dog friendly, covered patio. Everyone was very nice and we even met the chef. He was super excited to talk about the portobello sandwich I ordered. Service was kind of slow but we were the only one on the patio at opening and had to go grab our own silverware so think we where kind of forgotten. We got a beer flight and I'll say this was probably our least favorite thing. Most of the darker beers were pretty thin and just slight variations on the same "watery" base. The cream ale was the best and was very carbonated; almost like a cream soda. The pretzel sticks were surprisingly good. Very light and airy while still having a nice thin crust with a bit of chew. Almost like a cross between a fluffy pub style a less sweet, chewy ballpark. The beer cheese was ok but I think it suffered from the less-flavorful beer mentioned before. It needed some black pepper and hot sauce or pepper flakes to liven it up. That cherry mustard was amazing, though. I ended up eating some with a spoon. Sweet, tart, and a touch of bite. 10/10. I was pleasantly surprised by the portobello sandwich. The bread was a very soft Italian style that wasn't quite as chewy as normal ciabatta. Like it was enriched to almost brioche level. Super good. The portobello itself was brined 2 days and cooked perfectly. Nice texture and there was plenty of it. It didn't curl up or shrink into a sad puck like a lot of places. The aioli was very flavorful as well. Side Caesar salad was tasty. Kind of a Caesar/Greek hybrid with olives, red onion, tomatoes, and croutons. Not overly dressed and flavorful. Overall was pretty good and would definitely come back if I'm looking to watch a game or am biking/hiking in the area. Very hit or miss with some stuff though. The disappointing beer and spotty service probably brings the score down a star. read more

I recently visited Iron Exchange and overall, it was a decent experience. There is planets of parking and space inside that includes a bar, dining area and space in front of a stage where live music is featured. They also have a decent sized patio for when the weather is nice. The have a wide range of their own beers to choose from and that you can create your own for poor sample for $12, which was a definite plus. Their food menu was pretty extensive, offering a variety of options. The loaded tater tots we had as an appetizer were a great start to the meal. They were delicious and definitely worth trying. Amongst our group we tried two small pizzas, which were just okay, the Cubano sandwich, which was quite large and packed with meat. Unfortunately, the fish tacos were lackluster and it was odd that they didn't come with a side of chips, making the presentation look extremely bare. For $17 I expected a bit more. I also have to mention that the table service felt a bit disorganized and scattered. There were noticeable gaps in terms of being checked on by the staff which I think was a possible result of utilizing waitresses and food runners at the same table. I think that iron exchange is likely a fairly solid option when dining out in the Maple plain area, but not a place I would make a special trip in the future. read more

Solid restaurant in Maple Plaine! They have live music, trivia and the restaurant is fairly large. Decent size indoor and outdoor seating. I love that they offer drinks outside of their brewed beers. Complete spirit lists as well as other domestic beers. We've tried a variety of items on the menu- but honestly have only been happy with their pizza. Their pizza is Detroit Style and comes with a side of the marinara which is so fresh and flavorful. The small is large enough for two. Staff is always friendly. This is the third time we've visited IX in the past two years. Before this, our meals were pretty good, though I've never found a good beer here. This visit was spur-of-the-moment, driven by my wife's interest in the watermelon-feta salad. The presentation was nice, but what was supposed to be feta looked (and tasted) like shredded mozzarella. The helpful waitress asked the chef if it really was feta and the reply was that it was shaved instead of crumbled. Umm, it didn't taste like feta whatsoever and shaving feta wouldn't look like this. Our waitress asked if we wanted it remade, but with the same ingredients, what's the point? In addition, the lettuce was simply drenched in dressing, but we should have probably ordered dressing on the side. I ordered a Cubano, which was pretty good, though a bit greasy. I upgraded to onion rings, but I'm afraid that those were so greasy that I couldn't finish them (which is unheard of). The only highly-rated beer on tap is the French Toast Brown Ale, which was too sweet for my tastes I'm afraid. I was "taught" that it's sacrilege to not finish your beer, but even so I was not able to do so. In the end, I thought the service was great (attentive, fast prep, good follow-up), but the preparation left a lot to be desired and they should probably stop trying to brew their own beer. read more

The second brewery I tried while in River Falls was Rush River Brewery. A huge taproom with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. All around you felt like you were in the middle of a brewery with equipment and materials backdropping the seating area. Had a great conversation with the bartender who used to work for a couple of breweries in Minnesota. With the ability to choose how many beers you want in your flight (and different flight boards for different sizes), I went with five. Light: A traditional Kolsch with a light body, mild fruity flavor / aroma, and low white bread dough flavor. Crisp and refreshing. Double Bubble: A Double IPA that they consider the 'bigger brother' to the IPA Bubblejack. Packed full of hops including Centennial and Cascade. A hint of honey sweetness from the local honey addition (three pounds per keg), big DIPA body, medium bitterness, medium bubblegum, medium-low tropical flavor. Big and bold DIPA. Dessert Dessert: A Berliner Weisse with a rhubarb flavor that you don't get often in a Berliner Weisse. Strawberry / rhubarb flavors, with an acidic prickly pear aroma. Arise: A smooth Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout. The stout is dark in color, medium-high body even with a smooth (no alcohol-burn) mouthfeel, and rich in flavor. Vanilla and oak is present, with a semi-sweet chocolate flavor. Limelight: A Lime Kolsch that I got on recommendation from the bartender. This beer is one of the newer tapped ones. A lemon-lime flavor is present, with the body still being light and crisp. Hint of spicy fruit in the flavor. Very light acidity (not to a fault) from the lime. Impromptu stop in today. I talked over the tap list w friendly bartender Tyler. Then opted for porters; vanilla and coconut. Tyler asked if I wanted them mixed or separate? I opted for them separate but an empty glass. They weren't bad beers but I did prefer them as one. I like the layout and all the natural light of the bar. From the bar you also have a view of the kitchen and the brew house! I really appreciated the lower padded barstools around the bar!! However, I haven't been able to go to many new places this year for obvious reasons and am itching to write some reviews. Pulled up shortly after three. Parking lot was empty, but lights were on inside. My media sources indicated they were open at the time. Walked in to find staff doing a bunch of cleaning. Asked if I could sit anywhere. Was told not open for customers until four. Went to another somewhat nearby establishment and came back at five. No reservations required, but assigned seating. All staff was wearing masks and gloves. Had one of their West Coast IPA's. Nice and piney just the way I like it. Ordered the Beer Pub Hot Dish for dinner. Bartender said I ordered the best thing on the menu. Can't argue with her. Best thing I've had to eat in quite awhile. Ultimate comfort food. Would love to see Guy and Triple D hit this place up! We love the music at this restaurant so we have given it a few tries. Great stage, lighting and sound. Where this restaurant lacks is in service. First time we went our pizza was undercooked and doughy in the middle, second time we went we waited 30 minutes for water and an additional 30 to take our order, last time we went our food sat in the window for a long time and arrived to us cold. When I said something the waitress grabbed our plates and said nothing. After 2 hours from sitting down we finally had our food. The waitress we have had, same one each time, is not welcoming or engaging. Made us feel like she just wanted everyone out of there. I would never leave a review like this if it was not a pattern. Stick to the apps, drinks and music. Food is mediocre and usually cold for the price. read more

While they've been open for a few weeks, we unknowingly showed up at Iron Exchange's official Grand Opening Celebration and it was busy. They're located in half of the spot the old MPFC took up and they did an amazing job with the space. Inside and out it looks modern but still warm and fun. We ordered The Americano Detroit-style pizza, the Midwest Poutine, and a couple beers. The pizza was really good and the beers were great. The Poutine was good, but because the cheese curds are fried they don't melt into the fries like they should. Service was good. It looks like they are still working out some kinks (the family next to us had a couple orders show up wrong) but the staff was really friendly and helpful. We'll be back! read more

We discovered this place while on a bike ride in the area. It is very impressive inside and has a nice beer selection. The food was great also. Haven't been to the Iron Exchange for some time. That said was surprised at the lack of options on the menu. Basically the place is a microbrewery bar with bar food, burgers, sandwiches or pizza & some odds & ends for appetizers, couple salads? For some odd reason I thought I was going out to dinner, something must have changed over the last couple of years. Factory burger wasn't anything special sautéed onions were black as were the mushrooms, big bulky bun I didn't eat, chips or up grade to fries tater tots etc. The tater tots were the best part of my meal. It is not as I remember it a few years ago they sell alcohol and have bar food that is nothing to go out of your way for. Some say the pizza is good but I'm not big on pizza especially deep dish dough. Was really underwhelmed with the menu. Monie's is nearby if you want cheaper drinks and bar food, next time I go out for "dinner" it will not be here. The special tonight was chili dogs, I guess I should have picked up on things when I heard that? They have a nice new big kitchen & the special is chili dogs? Was trivia night as well so couldn't carry a normal conversation with each other as the drone of the trivia game for the 13 people involved reverberated through the place. Nice atmosphere and great patio with not too many other options around this area. Bonus that they brew their own beer and offer live music as well. But what do we keep returning for? Their Detroit-style pizza. So good! The crust is perfect and they do it right with the sauce on the side to add yourself. We like the Forester (no longer on the menu) but it has mushrooms, garlic, and pickled red onions. We also usually split the Caesar which is a bit non-traditional with black olives and pickled red onions. Great local place to support when you are looking for something a bit different, excellent Detroit-style pizza, or live music in the suburbs. Went for lunch and had blood orange cream ale and it was excellent. Great flavor with a light finish. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with the sweet potato tater tots. Also a great flavor and the tots were excellent when dipped in the honey mustard sauce. Place is clean with good service. I preface this because it was during lunch and it wasn't super busy. Multiple TVs to watch sports were spread throughout the place with great classical music overhead. Next time will try the Detroit style pizza. read more

Decided to try them because of a promotion.Ordered the fry fish basket and fish tacos.They did well with the fish fry! Nice flavor and great batter! Not too heavy or oily was the batter.The fries were awesome!Fresh cut fries!The coleslaw was not the greatest. The fish tacos had the biggest issues of all.The sauce was watery and not that tasty.They used lettuce instead of shredded cabbage .Shredded cabbage is what we have become accustomed too.The fish was not cut in to pieces on the tacos as we are also accustomed.I really like the fish fry so I will be back to give them another try! read more

Our group came here after a nice bike ride in Baker Park Reserve (I would recommend stopping AFTER putting away the bikes). Lots of choices on their taps! We opted for a IX Oatmeal Stout (12 oz $6) & a IX Blood Orange Cream (16 oz $6). They do have Lift Bridge Root Beer in silo cans for $5 (and offer LB Root Beer Floats). If you like bluegill fillets-you must try their "Fried Fish Basket" under the Appetizers ($15). The fried fish were not greasy or over breaded, just simply delicious! I opted for an upgrade of hand cut fries (+$2). The "small" Americano Pizza ($15) was Detroit-style pizza and too much for my husband even after a bike ride! We did NOT have to pay an automatic gratuity on our large group (I think she made out better that way), but there is a "Non Cash Adjustment" fee of 4% on credit cards. This was my second time here. I was SUPER disappointed. We waited over 20 minute to be greeted. This is not an exaggeration. I posted on social media about our excitement so we had a verified time stamp. I had to get up and let the manager know that servers keep coming and going and no one has stopped. Finally, someone greeted us and we got drinks. This was one of three times we'd see our server. We received drinks and ordered food. The three burgers were great! The sausage was cold and VERY pink. So gross! We weren't able to tell the waitress because 20 minutes went by and she never stopped again. We needed mayo, pickles and another paid drink... she never stopped. I don't understand the terrible service. When we were finally ready to pay the bill we let her know how nasty the sausage was. She saw it and agreed. I'm not sure how we would have rectified it for my son because at this point we'd been here forever. All of the water at the table was empty for 30+ minutes. The food and beer her is pretty good (minus the raw/cold sausage). I think I'll come back when they fix the service issues. I travel across the country for work a lot and eat at many places. I hope they fix the service issues because Maple Plain needs more than a coffee shop and Irish bar. 2 stars for hoping things will improve. I still tipped 20+%....... shame on me! read more

Big disappointment in food on a busy weekend night either the burger shrunk or the bun got bigger, in the end that's not what I had issues with. I ordered my hamburger no pink as you can see it was very pink and COLD, Cauliflower bites came cold as well usually something I enjoy and had there before, but it wasn't busy . Clearly they have some issues when it gets busy and I doubt I'll go back on the weekend.With the cost of eating out the quality and service should not be going down. Hope they address that, cause I like the atmosphere, and the music adds another fun vibe. read more

I have been going there the moment it opened and it is amazing. The service is good and food is good

Went last nite Aug 14 took 10 minutes to be seated because the host was just talking to her Friends we were the only ones waiting! After getting seated 10 minutes till the Server stopped by got drink orders which was all waters (2) 10 minutes later the water showed up another 10 minutes she stopped by and took our orders. 20 minutes later the food showed up a salad with chicken and a burger was ordered, no chicken in the salad but she just dropped the food and ran 10 minutes later got her attention to see where the chicken was and she said, do you still want it? I'm like well I ordered it so another 10 minutes went by and the chicken showed up an hour and 45 minutes to have a salad with no chicken and a hamburger horrible service. read more
