We stopped in tonight -- our neighborhood spot and a place we're proud to call our regular hangout. Jessica L. was absolutely amazing. She's friendly, attentive, and always makes us feel welcome. Even on a busy night, she stays upbeat and on top of everything. She checked in at all the right times, kept things running smoothly at our table, and genuinely made our night better. She's a big reason we keep coming back. The only small note -- and this is coming from a fellow bartender -- was that one cocktail(tequila soda) took abnormally long to come out from the bar. We totally understand that things happen, and it didn't ruin our experience at all, but it did stand out a bit. Overall though, Jessica's service was outstanding and truly the highlight of the night. NOMd: - house salad. w/ balsamic vinaigrette. w/ salmon. basic fresh salad for only $7 and the salmon is actually really good and well seasoned. didnt even need to drench it in lemon like i usually do. - bruschetta. - pepperoni cheese bread. both of these apps tasted like italian dunkers from middle school. - pretzel burger my friend got this and he liked it. service, etc.: this was over the summer and we sat on the patio. everytime i come here i wanna sit on the patio but regret it bc the bees are literally out to get me (my food). i have a fear of flying insects so it's like the worst exposure therapy everytime i come here lol. read more

I tried this place for the first time on Mother's Day. I've drove past it many times, but wasn't sure if I would like it based on yelp there wasn't many reviews or many photos. Well, let me tell you I loved this place and definitely plan on coming back, they are so friendly there and accommodating. They have a really cute patio And the inside of the bar is also cool with the video games and darts. The food was delicious. Everything we ordered was great. I'm pretty picky with my food and I ordered their BLT and it was so good. They do have a parking lot and there's another parking lot next to it for overflow parking. I definitely will make this my new summer spot when I'm visiting my mom out in Mound. read more

Hands down the best spicy margarita in Minnesota. Originally I ordered a vodka soda, then saw the "Taco Tuesday menu" and wistfully commented that I wished I had a margarita. Woman behind the bar-Claire- replaced my Tito's sofa for the spicy margarita. Claire was welcoming and gracious and didn't bat an eye. She was so great- hospitable but not too chatty. The spicy margarita was not too sweet (I hate sweet margs) and the habanero simple syrup gave it a pleasant kick. The tajin on the rim gave the whole thing complex flavor. This place has a casual, comfortable vibe when you walk in. Kind of an Applebee's, meets Perkins, meets neighborhood bar. Great open floor plan with the bar in the middle and TVs all around with sports and other shows play. The noise level is minimal, which makes it great for conversion and catching up. Our server was super attentive, chill, and funny. The appetizers were super satisfying. The main course was just okay (good, but didn't wow me). I got the french dip with fries and was satisfied. Went with my family today. Party of 6. They played good music. The food was amazing. And this is probably the best server I've ever had, anywhere. His name is Tony, and I hope he gets some massive credit. Stopped at this place for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised! It's a cute little divey restaurant with a good selection of food. I got the coconut shrimp salad special and it was super good, and only $15! Their food and drinks are all relatively cheap. Had great service and food was ready super fast. I was totally happy at the end of our meal. This was our first visit here. Unusually busy for a Tuesday evening but treated nicely while waiting at the bar for a booth to open up. The cornbread mini loaf served with our entrees was delicious,!we are taking one home to try and reverse engineer them, FN yummy! We shared the homemade potato chips and a beet salad with grilled salmon to begin with. Then moved on to walleye fish and chips and a brown rice and quinoa grilled salmon with honey and Jalapeño sauce. I do not usually review on first visits unless it worth it. The dirty dining room ruined the experience for us. The host sat us at a table with gobs of half-eaten food underneath. When we asked to move, we watched him kick it farther under the table instead of cleaning it up for the next person. The new table wasn't much cleaner. The bin with napkins and forks was covered in some kind of sauce. The more you looked around, the more every table looked unkept, and they weren't even at capacity. Surfside is a favorite in my neighborhood. There is a decent size patio in back off the parking lot. The inside is big, and they have a mix of national and local beers. This place is so frustrating. We get passed by several times by the bartender, watching him mope around behind the bar, when all we would like to do is get a beer and dinner. There are currently 14 people at the bar, it's not busy. This is the second consecutive time we've watched this unfold, and we're not alone. We have lived her for years and never stopped by, so finally took advantage of a cold Friday night and tried the Surf. It was great! Enjoyed a beer and southwest salad. Others at the table tried the fix and chips, cheeseburger and salad with added chicken. No one was disappointed and everyone was happy with their choice and I would say we would all agree we would not hesitate to come again. Too cold for this time of year, but the patio is a nice feature for summer. Staff was friendly and we were able to take advantage of using a Metro Dining card discount. The food here is not great. The rice was cold, undercooked, and tasteless. And the pork in the "carnitas" burritos was clearly just the same dry, flavorless pork they use in their pulled pork sandwiches. We have been coming to Surfside since they opened - love the patio in the summer and "Wine and Wings" night has become a fun date night between my boyfriend and I - no this is not something they officially have a special for (buy should!). We find we always end up here Wednesday nights, grabbing wine on Happy Hour, enjoying wings and the company. Patrons are friendly - have seen more acts of kindness and engagement between strangers here than I have anywhere else. We usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are nice, friendly - they always seem a bit swamped, so haven't had a chance to really get to know anyone very well yet. Great job on the remodel, rebrand, and revitalization of this great spot! We have introduced many friends to this place as our local watering hole and it has become the go-to for us! read more

Was looking forward to trying this - it seems to be packed every night! Was very excited for something great to be in that spot. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend. Lobster Roll was ok - fresh but there was so much crusty bread, the lobster wasn't able to shine through. Kids mac and cheese is Kraft from the box (which is a favorite), the chips were cold and overcooked. Most disappointing was the chicken fingers, by far the worst chicken fingers I've ever had. They were greasy, soggy, tough, and tasted off - like the fryer oil hadn't been switched in a while. read more

Taco Tuesday! Could be better. The wife and I got a margarita and tap beer. Both were good and cold. Good tap selection. Two taco orders, a enchilada style burrito and cheese burger sliders. The waffle fries tasted like they sat around awhile, tacos were about like Taco Bell. The burrito enchilada wasn't as good as something from Taco Bell. My son liked the sliders. Service was okay. I was given a brand they serve as the house wine and did not look at the price. They charged me $12 even though the menu said $11.00. Of course that is a exorbitant price for a house wine. What a great place in Mound! Lively sports bar atmosphere with TVs throughout the place and a long bar. A group of five of us went on a Friday night and nearly every table was full, but we managed to get seated right away. The menu has great variety: burgers, salads, sandwiches, and larger entrees. The portions are quite large so it's a good place to split or take leftovers. Fish and chips (daily special), burger, and southwest salad all tasted great, and I was even pleased with the mixed greens side salad. Always love it when it's non-iceberg. Our waitress was attentive despite the busy evening. I would love to come back here during the summer in order to enjoy the outdoor patio! Overall, great place for families or adults. read more
